I have been wondering, after flashing custom roms, will i have a chance to lose my premium navigation licence which perhaps i purchased or entered the voucher code which i get from the box?
To those who used the voucher or purchased, did u lose the licence or it will sync back in the licence? Where is the licence stored btw, in ur phone or on server according to imei?
And also, for the premium navigation voucher code, is it lifetime or dated?
Thanks in advance to all replies

I recently flashed my first custom rom, wiping everything before. Didn't sync anything back, still the premium navigation is working fine (30 days test license). On the first run it will pop up the usual activation screen, so I suspect the license is saved on a server and bound to your IMEI.
I was on my 2nd 30 day trial yesterday, before my first trial expired I flashed my phone back to stock with a RUU (1.32) and I got to activate premium navigation for another 30 days, however when i upgraded locations today it removed the 2nd license
The licence is bound to you IMEI. If you ever send your phone in to htc make sure you record your imei first. If they replace the handset they will need both the old and new imei to transfer the licence.

I didn't find any voucher code in my DHD box....
Where should it be?

Not everyone gets one. Its a promotional code and comes as an extra from certain carriers and resellers. Kinda like some stores will throw in a free car charge and deals along those lines.

Damn, that’s disappointing. I just flashed Revolution HD and formatted SD card and when I synced my license it changed my Navigation License expiry again, probably the DRM ID on the key must have to match the phone or something like that is stopping it. maybe just copy the time and grace values in to your current key then sync? I'm just guessing...
EDIT:
I was comparing my old phone.dat with my new one and I noticed a couple of things that might help. the first was that they have since done a version upgrade of locations and I don't know if that fixed anything, the second was after i had entered in my random values to the key, when I synced the license it reset all of the values back in my phone.dat to default but I now have 2 keys instead of one
Here is my experience. In my case my DHD came with a voucher license for one free navigation. I activate it and an email was send to my email stating tht i have one "Perpetual license" of the country i choose to my phone IMEI.
Just recently, i 'root' my phone, format my mSD so that i can create EXT3 partition and flash a custom rom. I do a full wipe for the flash. I have to download again the maps tht i need but the moment i request for navigation, the program gave me 3 options, Buy, Voucher or Sync License. I choose Sync License, and i got back my navigation for my country.
so flash custom rom to ur heart desire.... HD
I find this rather strange. When I got my phone in November the phone part in premium navigation didn't work, after a reboot it worked and has ever since. The premium navigationhas worked almost daily ever since. I've not activated or put any codes / purchased any licences. Have I missed something or am I just lucky?
Cheers
AFAIK you can onli flash sense-based ROMs like android Revolution ROM though to enjoy the htc navigation.
aggghhh, spoke too soon, it went to 30day trial today, not bad i suppose ive been using it since begining of november.
i dont think i will purchase when it runs out - having no postcode search is the deal breaker tbh
I think premium navigation doesn't reserve any paid from me. Should wait for google navigation come to my country..

Hi, I have the premium key for carpanel. But after I rooted my phone, I noticed that custom ROMs are not installed with it. Is there anyway we can get the APK so I can at least activate with my own key?
i'm not asking for a crack version. just the original one so I can install it back on.
Wat if i using HTC Kindom ROM ?? I can't found any Htc Premium Navigation ><
anyone help us please!!!
Hi, apologies for reviving this thread, but was looking to put on a custom ROM to my HTC Vision, and the topic of this thread is what is holding me off until now since I paid fifty euro for my permanent premium navigation
So after reading all the posts in this thread, can I safely assume that as long as I flash a ROM which also contains Sense, I will be able to keep my premium navigation?
Thanks for your time and help guys

The updater being DMClient right?
One thing to keep an eye on (I plan to disable OTA's on my two tablets) is battery life.
There are supposedly some instances where the system may think the OTA update is corrupt and will continuously try to re-download it in the bg affecting battery life. It's still worth attempting IMHO, just a tip though to keep an eye on your battery, if disabling the OTA affects it for you, you could unfreeze the dmclient service and use a different workaround to stop the OTAs
-For freezing, after looking around, these three apps seem to be best suited - Titanium Backup pro (obviously), AntTek & Gemini App managers (free)
I'll be Rooting then freezing OTAs on my Prime (ww .15) and rebooting it to ensure it doesn't softbrick. If unsuccessful I can flash a blob/format no probs, if successful, I'll root my Nxs7 JB, rinse repeat and report back
--
Successfully performed all tasks on the Prime (hooray no OTAs!!), it's rooted with frozen DMClient, no firmware download prompts since the service was stopped and frozen.
I have rebooted a few times to ensure it is not soft bricked and the App remains frozen
I will be doing my Nexus next since I do not foresee any brick issues, all I need to do is simply look into rooting it.
edit: seeing the several methods all require unlocking to exploit root capability, I'm going to wait out my DOA period (since Ive only had this tablet for 2 days lol) before I unlock the bootloader.
The methods discussed though work perfect for ICS, if you've unlocked and root then turning OTA's off is a sinch, with very minimal risk of a softbrick IMO
Thanks, I will try freezing with TB.

Just to let you know, everything's going awesome with my Prime, initially when I downgraded it, the OTA tried to download (i stopped it at 66 percent) and I just kept the wifi off while I rooted and disabled DMClient.
The bonus of freezing the process/service is when another update occurs ours should continue to block the FOTA, some other methods like modifying the build prop only work until a new update is out.
I'll definitely be unlocking and rooting my nexus to stop ota's

And what would that file be? Where is it located?
Disable using autostarts works...
I had my nexus 7 nagging me constantly to update too... rooted and heavily customized stock rom, different kernel, a lot of system files I altered... I really am not overly concerned about doing an update that might screw with any one of those components and having to go through the whole process of getting it where I want again.
I couldn't find this DMClient you guys are speaking of.
Here's how I did it:
Install Autostarts app.
Go to "After Startup"
Scroll down until you see "Google Services Framework"
There should be several of them. For me it was the third one. Touch it and read the bottom of the popup to find out. It will say "Receiver com.google.android.gsf.update.SystemUpdateService.....(you get the point)
Disable it. Done...
I don't know if there are any other repercussions to disabling this.. I just know it's not nagging me, and everything works still.
DMclient is a service, it's the most ideal thing to freeze since when stopped the OS will not even attempt to check of OTAs or attempt to download anything, plus it does not modify the OS in any significant way (i.e, editing build.props) so you can undo it with ease if you want. All you need is Root to be able to freeze the service.
I'm not arguing about how to do it... I just couldn't find dmclient , as one of the others stated as well. Just sharing what worked for me.
I don't know if it matters, but it's stock jb 4.1.1 on the nexus 7. If somebody knows where I can locate this dmclient in it, I'd probably feel better about doing that as well. Don't like the idea of it downloading or doing anything in the background if I don't need it to. I'm rather anal about background processes.. at least I have been in my other OS's so far... getting more familiar with the innards of android now... lol
Are we sure it's in this version? I don't even see it in ps in terminal. Unless the process I disabled with autostarts stopped it.
I might enable it again tomorrow and reboot and check ps again.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
You're right, I checked my nexus 4.1.2 and the service isn't there, the All area doesnt show everything but even using apps that show all apps/services it doesnt show up. :/
I checked my TF Prime which is 4.1.1 now (sigs outdated) and the service is there, it mustn't exist in AOSP builds or something
It seems as if Google has done a lot of little different things to the OS on the nexus 7. Some of the system components I've messed with relating to sound don't have any effect... I think they left some files in place but are utilizing something different for configuration of sound.
I see every mobile OS now is taking proprietary steps... I still gotta stick with Google though, because they are so heavily involved in the open source community and do a great deal to help the development community.
Next tablet is going to have top have more options for me... better usb support, hdmi out.. the ability to use a headset with Mic connection.. sd card... I am, however, extremely happy with my nexus 7 purchase. For the price and the performance.. can't go wrong there. They are practically giving away the 8 gb models.. barely more than cost of construction. The 16 gb ones aren't exactly a ripoff either..

Hello Everyone,
I lost my samsung galaxy note in Singapore airport when I am changing my flight to Adelaide. I am very disappointed about it. I tried all the ways by searching via Samsung Dive. I tried installing droidlost and Plan B apps to track my mobile. Since I have inserted my Indian SIM when the phone lost and unfortunately I changed to Airplane Mode. Now I am not able to track it by sending sms for activating the app since the SIM is on international roaming (if the guy who got my phone switches ON). Kindly please let me know any alternatives. I am very frustrated and hard earned mobile. Please.

Call your provider and ask them to block the IMEI, this way the phone will be un-usable as a phone, And if someone has already placed a working SIM into it, Your carrier should know its location.
Dial up the pressure and get them to help you !
Actually it can be tracked but in indian system they dont even care

Hi. I suggest you contact the ICA (Immigration Checkpoint Authority) of Sillypore to see whether they found your lost Note.
Don't worry about them stealing, cause they're reliable.
That's very unfortunate to hear. I too am trying to track down my Galaxy Note. I was at the bus station the other day and someone asked to borrow my phone for a call. I was just doing a good deed but he ran away with it. I've also tried plan B but it seems like the thief has already unassociated the google account. I'd like to know too if there are any other ways to track down the note knowing only the serial number?
I don't want to disappoint you but I think it's kind of hopeless. It takes nothing more than a wipe of the system to eliminate the tracking capablity using Samsung dive. Let alone the possibility to flash a new rom. I'd informe my provider about the loss and get a new phone. I know that's not what you.expected but it's reality.

If anyone knows the slightest thing about android then they will now that they can erase everything in recovery (stock or custom) leaving no tracking apps installed.
However...... That being said, there are more apps being developed lately that are designed to survive a full wipe from recovery, so make sure to look in to it for future references.
Avast ! is one of these apps and I highly recommened trying it, But also, Spend some time online looking and comparing all the different security apps, Dont be afraid to pay for one if it is worth it ! because it could be a matter of paying <£5 for an app, or losing a >£300 phone !
On a side note, Most providers wont give a crap if you lose your phone, They will just block it and still force you to pay them, So dont always rely on them to help you if something goes wrong !
Finally, without dragging this post on for too long, Its nice the guy above tried to do a good deed, But in future DONT !! I know this sounds harsh, But in most places of the world people only want 1 thing........ MONEY ! and they will do what ever they can to get it.
Who doesnt own a mobile ? you can pick up a $hitter for less than £10 ! there are dozens of phoneboxes out there and even reverse charge numbers.
So keep your witts about you next time you try to do a good deed for someone :good:
To the guy who said move on to note 2

Same problem here. Have you gotten it working yet?
I'm getting the same thing, got my RMA replacement phone in yesterday and haven't been able to get wallet setup yet. Called device support and was transferred to the wallet support team after trying to do app cache/data reset failed. Wallet people said they weren't sure what was going on either and punted to their escalation team. Currently stuck waiting to hear back from them to see wth is going on....
Had no issues with wallet on my original N4 and I'm guessing either these are refurbs that didn't get properly wiped, or something else screwy with the secure element. Or perhaps the wallet system doesn't like seeing more than one phone of the same type on an account (tho I did wipe my first N4 before setting the new one up).
After rooting mine it says it was an supported device but still let's me go in. Anyone know how to fix this?

Same here with a replacement device. If I restore a backup from my fist n4 it works fine though.
I would retry setting up an account at a later time. As dumb as it sounds, it's taken me a few seconds to set up or almost an hour. I don't know why this is the case, but i'm sure it has something to do with google's service.
Supposedly the unsupported device message means nothing interms of the operation of the app. I have personally never been able to use Google wallet locally, even when I was unrooted.

Yea, on the Web it's showing the old device as disabled and I'd actually wiped from within the wallet app before signing in on my new device. I followed the same procedure when I upgraded to a 32G nexus 7 and didn't have a problem. Logcat is showing it's waiting on the secure element so I'm starting to lean towards this being a hardware defect.

Called Google support and transffered to Wallet support and this the reply I got:
<reply>
We're sorry to hear that you're having difficulties accessing the Google Wallet mobile app. You seem to have encountered a known issue, where the NFC Chip in your SIM card and the NFC Chip in your device are preventing you from accessing the application.
Our engineering team is working hard to fix this, but it will likely take a few weeks to be resolved. If you'd like to continue using Google Wallet, we suggest you try to use a different SIM card that does not

I don't think this is the cause of the problem I am having. I tried to launch Wallet without any SIM card in my phone and still got the same error. There couldn't be interference from the SIM card. At this point, I hope it is not a hardware problem. Otherwise, I'll have to RMA the phone, again...
I'm in the same boat. I received a replacement device yesterday and I was trying to get Google Wallet working all day to no avail. I also tried everything I could this morning and nothing. My last step was to do a factory reset before calling Google. I had no luck after a factory reset. I called Google a few hours ago and ordered yet another replacement. They sent me an RMA and I'm going to have to send back my original defective device back first (yellow on screen) then order a second replacement.
I think this is a hardware issue. Seems too coincidental that everyone that has received a replacement this week including myself are going through the very same issue with Google Wallet.
BTW, I'm not rooted or have an unlocked BL.
Edit: I didn't get a refurb. The replacement was brand new in a sealed box.
Is there any way to determine if this is really a hardware issue? I really don't want to go through another RMA if this is fixable by software. Not sure what else might be broken in the next replacement...

I have a rooted Nexus 4 and google wallet is not working. I don't think it's a sim issue: I'm almost sure is a google wallet problem:
With phone rooted but no google wallet installed, I passed the phone on a cab credit card machine,
the machine recognized a number and emitted a "beeeep". After I installed google wallet is no longer working

Is there any way to determine if this is really a hardware issue? I really don't want to go through another RMA if this is fixable by software. Not sure what else might be broken in the next replacement...

I have this same problem; I'm not convinced it's hardware, but I don't know how to be certain.
On my first N4, Wallet works all the time, with or without the SIM card. On my replacement N4, I always get stuck. Every other app that uses NFC (Android Beam, Barcode Scanner, Taginfo, stuff like that) works fine.
It's possible there's some hardware defect on the refurb batch, but I'd be more likely to blame software somewhere.
(FWIW, I also deactivated my first N4 and that made no difference. Both phones are completely stock and not even rooted.)
I don't have any problem activating Wallet on my first N4 either. It seems strange that all of a sudden people are having problem with their RMA replacement units.
Android beam works fine on the replacement, so the NFC is working. The problem could be just the secure element. The system log shows Wallet failed at initializing the secure element.
I called support the second time and they have escalated my case to a specialist. I hope it is just a software/firmware issue. Going through another RMA would be painful. The wait for the new unit, dropping off the old one, not sure what could go wrong with the new one, restoring my apps and settings, not to mention buying a new set of Skinomi invisible shields and reapplying them.... :banghead:

I came across a post for the Nexus 10 having the same problem. The issue is resolved by unistalling and backing up the original Wallet app using Titanium Backup, then download and install the Wallet app from the Play Store (older version). The app will activate fine. Then restore the one that comes with the phone.
I have no idea if this will fix the problem on our N4 and I am definitely not liable for any damage on your device if you try. However, it might worth a try if your pHone is already rooted. At least it will prove that the problem can be addressed by software.

One thing I have noticed (and apparently a bunch of other people) is that my replacement device is subtly different on the surface. I have a different black area around the rear camera and a different feel to the buttons. There's reportedly a different internal hardware revision too...
Hopefully this problem is something boring like a revision bump on the NFC chip that unexpectedly requires different initialization. :fingers-crossed:

Same problem here. Have you gotten it working yet?

I'm going to try root it again and see if it works. I just installed Liquidsmooth ROM thinking that it would work but it didnt.
Tried removing wallet with titanium backup and installed the market version, was able to do the initial sign in and setup steps but it failed to add any of my cards. Going back to the version that came with the phone just resulted in wallet crashing at startup. Cleared data and back to the same waiting on setup screen.
Out of curiosity, are folks using the android version the shipped with their phones? I flashed mine to 4.2.1 right out of the box so I'm wondering if that was my mistake.

This is a question and warning.
My S4 display broke. Had no backup as I had just transferred from my S3 and then wiped the S3
I sent it in and received it back.
They fixed the display.
AND...
[begin quote, their letter]
For peace of mind, your repaired device has also been independently checked by our Quality Team to ensure it is fully working order before we return it to you.
We've also installed the latest approved software as part of our standard repair process. This is to ensure you hvae the latest version of software which could include performance enhancements and new features.
[end of quote]
So what did they do?
THEY WIPED THE DEVICE, INCLUDING ALL MY DATA AND INSTALLED A BRAND NEW IMAGE.
It doesn't even have my Google accout or anything stored.
Wtf!?!?
This after a broken display. The "peace of mind" bit sounds almost as if they are making ridiculing me.
No idea whether this is standard Samsung behavior, but when I called them to arrange the pickup they told me nothing about wiping my device.
And no, I do not have a current backup, just like 6 months old, am on Linux and USB mtp is kind of sketchy on there..
Q: Is this standard behavior of Samsung? Or was I just "lucky"
Bastards!!!!
PS If requested I can put that letter online.
They always do and it does say somewhere

Well, I called it in and was nowhere notified.
Nor did I see it on their webpage.
This is a crazy policy.
Thx for the quick answer.
But maybe someone can enlighten me, why does upgrading the OS, require wiping the user data?
We can do it without, so they should be able to do so too, no?
My nephew had to send his S2 in for warranty last year and they said his phone will be wiped but it wasn't. Maybe just depends on the repair centre but I think they should just fix the screen and leave any updates or wiping to to owner.
Seriously it makes no sense.

Any company would tell you to backup your device before sending it for repair. Its not rocket science. When they do a repair they also test out every other aspect of the device to avoid any other problems that may occur.

Believe me, I would have if I could have.
USB MTP backup, requires mounting the device, which only works properly, IF you can unlock it, which you can't without display
The sdcard I took out, what do I know, maybe they would have wiped that one too, just to be sure...

Are you sure?
I can use MTP without unlocking the device just fine.
So the broken screen shouldn't be a problem.

Absolutely. I can mount it and see two directories the SD and EXTSD cards, but if I access them they are empty.
Then even KDE prompts me, is the device maybe locked?
I unlock the S4 and eg refresh the SD directory and voila all the directories appear.
This feature actually makes sense, security-wise.
If I remember correctly the S2 had a notification and asked you whether you wanted to grant access, but my memory might fail me here.
[edit: btw you are using a custom ROM, I was on latest stock]

Indeed that makes sense, I thought about that right after I posted that.
Actually, I currently just use swipe to unlock, which might be the reason it works without unlocking for me, since there's no security anyway.

It is possible the new screen needs a later firmware version to work correctly, while this is true in the i9100 and i9300, I doubt it's required for the i950x because the phone is only recent launched.
