Okay, so I'm trying to plug my Verizon Note 3 into my laptop in order to transfer some photos and videos. However, there's no "USB Connected" notification that shows up on the phone, and the computer only recognizes "Samsung Android," and the drivers for it fail to install. The phone DOES charge, though.
My phone is rooted, so I unrooted by reinstalling the NC4 kitkat build via Odin. This didn't change anything. I've looked everywhere, and people keep saying "Go to storage settings and set to MTP only," but I don't see that setting...anywhere.
Since I rooted my phone, I have all the Samsung USB drivers, and I even have Kies installed. Turning off USB Debugging does nothing.
Is there any way to fix this?
I need to use a standard usb cable rather than the note 3 cable for mine to work.

I had the same problem with no solution, i ended up uninstalling Towel Root and then doing a factory restore to get back the USB connection capability on my phone.

Did you get the latest drivers from the Samsung website? I only ask because when I went to install a rom for the first time Odin wouldn't recognize my phone in download mode but did while I was booted up normally. Come to find out the drivers I was using that was linked on the page where I got instructions how to root and rom were old. I went onto the Samsung website and downloaded the latest drivers and all was well. Give it a shot.

Yeah, I've tried the USB drivers from Samsung's website. I also tried installing Kies. AFAIK, Kies automatically installs the latest drivers for Samsung devices, but when I plugged my phone into my computer, Kies wouldn't even recognize it. The new 4.4.4 update didn't fix the problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.

As I am traveling, I wanted to use another computer to use Odin/ADB. For establishing the USB connection I looked for the USB driver only, but did not find it. Ultimately had to download Kies_2.2.0.12014_18_8.exe (88mb) on the data plan!
So uploading the USB driver only from the Kies package if you need only the USB driver for Odin/ADB, but not Kies.
Tested working from Galaxy S2 with Odin and ADB, should work for other Android phones too.
Cheers

Thank you so much! I had been scouring the internet/XDA for an hour before I found this. Did not want to get the whole KIES suite as I knew I didn't need the whole thing.
Confirmed working ADB on CM9
Windows 7 will just get it from Windows Update, is only a 6mb download. I did that on two PC's yesterday.
Thanks a lot, been looking for this and the one I found wasn't working properly on an XP computer.

Soft Bricked galaxy S2 Sprint Rom
Ok so i have had windows install all the drivers before.Than I accident I tried flashing the wrong rom,After that i was stupid enough to restore my computer.Thinking KIES would recognize it.....I had not selected emergency recover firmware before when I saw the device in the list because I used ODIN to flash the rom.Than tried updating the firmware to the device with Kies.(RETARTED,I KNOW-/Palm 2 Face....so after I recovered Windows the option to emergency recover my phone was no longer in the list.Nor could I see the dev on usb.Now its identified as UNKNOWN/USB on the several different connection types tech uses these days.Other than finding another s2 that's sprint rom to plug in and let windows 7 actually install the adb driver. How am I going to get the computer to recognize the device after plug in?>I know the steps in the process are delicate with this phone, take battery out>wait 1m>insert battery>go to download mode>plug cable into pc>plug cable to phone..but even that wont do it.Also i have been unsuccessful at every other angle I approach from.Any one out there smart enough to help Me,Because I am falling short on my ability to get this flashed to Cricket for a friend and now i have ruined her mom's phone /Frown
PS Don't KEEP KIES installed before you try using ODIN for anything as.it will or may soft brick your Samsung

read it carefully before you reply...this is official GT-N5110. and yes we know there's a leaked beta update flooding around...this one is real deal.
Problem with SNote!
edit: ok now snote is ok for me!
And what about pen accuracy? Is it fixed? And what kind of problem is there with S note?
I haven't test it yet, because of time. But @civato will do his rom taking this new official version as base.

Works fine on mine. As long as the model number is the same, the firmware will work.
Hi i just downloaded this firmware,i just wanted to ask,do i need to root my 5110 note 8 tablet before flashing this firmware,i have download Odin 307 and i am running windows 7,is it just a matter of connecting my tablet to the computer via the usb lead and then starting the Odin program up and browse for the firmware and get Odin to flash my tablet,or do i still have to root the tablet first.
Anyone have a bug report?

yes. you still need to root your tablet because offical 4.2.2 update removes all root stuff. Once you flashed 4.2.2 firmware, and if all goes, wait for at least 10-15 mins (let 4.2.2 settle cool down)...and then reboot into download mode, and using odin once more flash CF-Auto-Root tar file (search CF-Auto-Root for Note 8). this should re-root your device...

Everything seems to be working perfectly for me. Even resolved the momentary freezes I had on 4.1.2.
Very smooth so far.
Can't get PC to recognize the tablet
I downloaded and installed the Samsung drivers, I turned on USB debugging, I downloaded Odin 3.07 and the leaked 4.2.2 from UK and when I boot into odin, my PC does not recognize the tablet as being connected, but my PC makes the noise and shows that the samsung drivers have been installed successfully. Any ideas on how to get this to recognize my tablet. I am running windows 7 64 bit. I do have McAfee running and am unable to disable because this is my work PC.
Thanks

I have done all of that. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. I have followed all the instructions of being able to do this. Once I am in download mode (Odin mode), I plug the tablet in and then open Odin 3.07. Odin 3.07 does not recognize the tablet. But I have installed all the samsung drivers and it shows they installed successfully. I may be having an issue on my laptop where my company has a policy where we cannot write to external hard drives or USB sticks (jump Drives).
I may need to do this from my home PC when I get home tomorrow.
Thanks for helping out.
Make sure you start odin first using administrative permission, then plug your note in after odin is up and running.

I'm planning on using mobileOdin and keeping root when I get home from work. Has worked well for me in the past. We shall see what we shall see!
My phone is really jacked up. Nothing that I flash will stick. I can't boot into recovery to flash off my sd card. Does anyone know a code to get the emergency firmware repair to work on KIES? Or what model number to put in? I put SPL-720 adn JFLTESPR.... Neither works.
Did a quick search http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00052703/61329 I don't know if that is any help. Never had this issue before

Yeah, that is directions that are available on KIES. I'm not getting a code though to start the repair, even though the screen on my phone says to connect to KIES and start the emergency firmware process. When I connect it the KES says it's not compatible.
hmmm You are positive you have the right Samsung drivers installed correct? I do kinda remember reading somewhere about this with someone else....also try different usb cords.

try this also http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00029015/29183
Maybe this will help you also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQvaxWY3Dlg
I also remember reading this from someone else, but don't remember if there was a solution. If you can track down that thread, you may get more info.
In addition to trying other usb cables, also try different usb ports on your computer. I remember that from the OG epic days
Kies sucks for this, you are better off taking it into Sprint and letting the flash it for you. They should be able to do it for you without any hassle. Just make sure you go to one with a repair center.
Hellow everyone, I have a problem with kies, I wanted to install a Stock Marshmellow Firmware and I wanted to make sure that if something goes wrong I can just use the emergency recovery from kies, but I get an error says that The Device does support Firmware upgrade and initialization, I have looked everywhere and couldn't find any answers,
I got a Note 4 N910F
Hope you guys can help me.
P.S
The phone is brand new so I never flashed it or rooted it.

Try a factory reset, and try Kies on a different computer. If that doesn't work, and it's really brand new, take it back and get it exchanged or a refund.
You got an error says that The Device does support Firmware upgrade and initialization... ? Or "does not support"?

Try uninstalling Kies and Samsung drivers and reinstall. Try another USB cable and a different USB port. Try Samsung SmartSwitch. Failing all this, if it's a brand new phone, I would recommend going back to the seller and getting a refund/replacement.

1. Enter Download mode by pressing VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER buttons.
2. On PC download ODIN 3.10 and your default firmware from samfirmware or other sources.
3. Open Odin press PDA button and select your firmware downloaded before and click START.
4. Let it flash the stock rom and then you have a brand new working device.
I am planning to flash the stock Marshmellow that way, I have 5.0.1 currently, but I wanted to make sure i got a way back if something goes wrong, that is why i want either SmartSwitch or Kies to properly work.

Whenever I try to connect my phone to the PC it says "USB device not recognized"
Was thinking about copying some files from the PC to the phone when suddenly it doesn't recognize it. Could it be that the micro USB port on the phone is broken somehow? All I can do right now is charge the phone. Is there something I can work around to fix it on my own or do I have to take it for the repair?
Think you need to get it to the repair. First try another USB cable. Then you can try to get it on the other rom or factors reset it to make certain how it is a USB port & not the software even actually chances for that are slim.

Well, there is no dust in the port and I don't think that it got "weared out" or something since the phone is not that old. I was trying CM 11 and then went to stock to try something out and when I wanted to copy some files to the phone the PC couldn't recognize it. And I flashed the newest firmware from Sammobile with Odin which got out September 27th and it all started after I flashed it. The worst of all I am also experiencing some weird bugs like the wallpaper turning black when I drag apps over to move them to another screen on home which is gone after I reboot the phone. So this new firmware is for sure buggy, and the worst of all I can't get to an older version because the PC can't recognize the phone anymore. Jeez this is screwed up.
EDIT: Okay a bit more digging around on my PC and I found that if I uninstall the driver in the Device Manager that has an exclamation mark when I connect my phone the "connected" sound is played on the PC and it starts installing a driver and then I get the error message. So I guess it's this stupid firmware.

Actuality forget it and use FlashFire instead it's more simple.

Did you try on another PC or with another cable? If you did my bet is that it's not software but broken USB connector on the phone (plenty of those on alk S3's including Neo's).

No, I didn't try it on a differrent PC yet but I will. As for this FlashFire thing, it says it's for rooted devices, and my phone right now isn't, since I can't connect it to my PC(it all happened the same day - had CM11 all worked got to stock had UI bugs and PC couldn't recognize it). Is there some way of rooting it without the PC? I tried some apps but none worked even tho some of them did before on older firmware.

If the KingRoot doesn't work I am afraid that you will have to get a little creative & use ADB over WiFi.

Puff. First of all enable adb & over tcp (wifi) in developer options.
https://dzone.com/articles/use-adb-over-wi-fi-without
Or use some of the apps.
The commands & how to use them.
http://www.androidlegend.com/how-to-use-adb-fastboot-commands-with-your-android-device/
You need to push SU bin & app along with Busybox bin (command extension).

If this doesn't help you or you don't know how to do it I am sorry but I can't help you more than this.
