Hi all,
Just wanted to know if there is any way possible to have a ROM other than stock touchwiz based roms that have the ability to run S-Apps like S-Health, I only ask as i'd like to use ROM's like Cyanogen mod and my Gear Fit.
I'm guessing it's a no but if anyone knows or has heard of a ROM which allows it or even a work around please let me know.
Many thanks.
PS: I know I can strip down a touchwiz rom but i'm not wanting that.

Hello,
I've tried to search the forum, but I only found customed ROM. It seems the latest ROM is XXCM2 (Changelist 1230243) for Europeans: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-S5360
I'd like someone skilled to apply the basic stuff to this ROM. I guess the base is to deodex the ROM and make it a CWM package. Maybe it will need a % Battery mod too.
After that, everyone would be able to customize the ROM (remove bloatware with applications like link2sd or Root App Delete/uninstaller).
For now, on forum I see only custom ROM without stock UI (often ugly) and often it's not precised on which official ROM it is based, and it seems that most of these developers/cookers don't use the latest Samsung firmware as base...
If someone skilled can help, thanks in advance, else I'll give up with this phone.

only if you want to edit smali files you need to deodex, and for removing stock bloatware it isn't needed.
I have read a bit on the topic of ROMs, but I have never rooted or installed a custom ROM until now. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, I am just trying to figure out the whole odexed/deodexed deal.
From what I've gathered, deodexed ROMs were originally used to be able to edit things such as status bar colors (clock, notification icons, etc) and even the icons themselves. They boot 'slower' but after the initial boot it is not that recognizable as newer hardware more than compensates for this issue. (I have a Galaxy S5 G900P)
So I have flashed a deodexed ROM onto my phone (R.D.D.T.). Now, this ROM also has an odexed version as well. I assumed that having the deodexed version would allow me to edit icons, colors, etc. However, I'm not quite sure how I can do it.
I have seen and read about people installing custom, deodexed ROMs onto their phones, and many of them (Alliance, X-Note) will come with either an app pre-installed on the ROM, or a ROM-specific menu in Settings. This menu lets them customize things in the way I would like to be able to. The problem is that, at this time, the G900P (Sprint) version of the Galaxy S5 is not supported by either of those ROMs, or many other popular ROMs for that matter. R.D.D.T. (and R.O.D.T as well as the Mystery Build) was one of the only ROMs I could find that explicitly supports the G900P. I like the concept of this ROM, as it seems like a good, no BS bloat-less ROM that is otherwise very close to stock Android. But, I do not believe it came with any ROM-specific way of editing colors, themes, icons, etc. So my question is a few parts I guess:
-Is there still a way (downloadable app, editing files, etc) for me to be able to edit colors on the S5 with this ROM?
-In a situation like this, what is the benefit of having a deodexed ROM installed?
-Are there other ROMs similar to R.D.D.T. that currently support the G900P S5 which additionally offer customization?
-What is it with the Galaxy S5 that is causing so many ROMs to not officially support it?
Sorry for the long post, but my primary aim here is to learn everything that I can about this.
Hey guys,
Sorry for the VERY noob question, but I didn't find it anywhere.
Is it possible to install Samsung Features on stock Android? If yes, how?
I have a S6 ported ROM, but it's not as fast as I expected, so I'm going back to a stock Android, but I don't want to get rid of some Samsung stuff, like the S-Pen features, the S Beam, the Ultra Power Saving, etc.
If you know how, let me know!
Thanks!
Hello,
it's since I lost my old Omnia 900 that I don't login on this forum, so please forgive my question, I am not updated at all.
I also remember the hours lost to find the best suitable ROM for the Omnia, so I really don't want to experience that again.
I'd like to clean my Galaxy S5 and in order to do so, I don't want to experiment with unstable builds or similar.
I just would like to use the cleanest and most stable rom available that would let my galaxy S5 be fully functional.
Which ROM would you suggest me to use? BTW I actually know nothing except how to do a simple root, so if you have any links, is also appreciated.
I got some answers already, like: Phoenix rom and Blissrom.
Again I need the bare minimum, but with all the full set of samsung features enabled (minus the samsung software though, if, for example, finger scan needs some software, I will install it).
Hi,
This question is mostly towards the people that have already installed a custom rom on their GS7.
I have a GS7 G935F model and i was wondering why you guys choose to installed custom rom?
I'm a big fan of custom roms. I have used them in the past on my GS3 T999, because T-mobile didn't release any new updates for the phone. I saw the need to use a custom rom to be on the latest and greatest version and i switched from rom the rom to test witch one suited me best. Now with the GS7 i get frequent updates from samsung and don't see the need, but i'm still really really interested in trying one of the custom roms. So what else does a custom bring that will make me want to make that switch?

most of those frequent updates are for security propose.
custom roms enable you to unlimited experience of customization.
changing any system ui element or installing some apps that need root access and works better on custom roms usually.
but some app or mod you install on custom rom have risks to brick your phone and you need to prepare urself to repair it or search a lot to get stable ones.
:good:

Changing system ui elements or using root apps/ modules. 3 years ago u needed a custom rom for a new look and extra functionality that wasn't normally possible. Nowadays most of those things are possible. I'm searching for the things i can do now if i choose to install a custom rom. Things i could really use.
Which root apps or modules do u use on your phone?
