Hey guys,
I tried the S5 Samsung cover, I agree with many, it's too think to use (not to mention $30). I got one of the aftermarket inserts, works like a champ. Here's my question. My S5 is a work phone, I have a G3 as a personal one. I got a "patch" for the G3, that stuck to the back cover, and filled in the slots for the factory Qi charger. When I charge this on the Qi, it is silent.
The S5 has the commonly reported issue of making the wireless charging sound, discharging a little, recharging with the new sound and screen light up. I can't root or install any of the recommended apps to silence the device. Is the screen-on and wireless charging sound Samsung specific? My G3 makes a sound, once, when it is on the mat, but is silent thereafter (and the screen remains dark). Old Sammy, she makes a lot of noise and lights up a dark bedroom.
Thanks for the help

Sorry to say but you are stuck with the lights and sound without root. Even with root the light will be there but you can at least delete the charging sounds.

Thanks. So, it must be a Sammy thing? LG is quiet as a mouse, no root required...

So, I'm running into an extremely annoying problem with my G2. Just the slightest touch causes my headphone jack to stop sensing properly.
Example: I'll be listening to Google Music and i'll just ever so slightly move my headphone cable near the base of the 3.5mm headphone plug and suddenly the audio will stop as if I have unplugged my headphones. Yet, my headphones are still snapped in and once I press play again, the music continues on as if nothing has happened.
Some times my phone will go from headphones and speaker...headphones and speaker, headphones and speaker. It's as if it doesn't know my headphones are plugged in.
We are talking super light touching here. Any rotation of the plug while connected will cause it to fail. Simply picking up the phone will cause audio to suddenly stop. I'd be willing to bet that by simply blowing on the damn plug would cause it to fail. Hell, even a fart in the plugs direction would probably cause it to fail. That's how light of a touch I'm talking about here. Also, tapping and rotating the headphone plug while it's plugged in would cause Google Voice search to launch. Super weird.
I don't get whats going on. I see know damage in the headphone input...everything looks fine. I've babied this thing since it has arrived. It has been in a case ever since.
My headphones are good because I've tried them on multiple sources. Plugging in different headphones in to my G2 causes the same problems still. I've tried switching ROMs but the same thing still happens.
I'm at a loss here. I need some advice on what to do. Should I just call Verizon and get a replacement phone? Do I need to unroot to do that?
What a pain in the ass.

I think I might be having a similar problem as yours but with a different device (Square card reader). When I plugged it in the first few times there was a good sturdy click and it felt like it was being held in the jack well. But now it pulls out of the jack too easily, and a light touch causes the reader to disconnect. It seems like the contacts for the headphone jack may have been pressed in or something because it only maintains good contact if i hold a little pressure on the reader.
Either way, I don't like my options since I can either go on with a dysfunctional headphone jack, which might be ok since I use bluetooth more often than the jack, or I can try to get a replacement from LG which will likely be a refurb. I'm rooted too and assume I'd have to unroot in that situation. What to do...
Ever figure out your issue, OP? I'm having the same issue right now.

I think I pushed the plug in too hard on mine and caused the jack to loosen. Amazon replaced the phone for me no questions asked. They continue to amaze me.
Hey all. This is my first post on this forum, so forgive me if I break any rules.
So heres a breakdown of my issue. I have a samsung galaxy note 3 that I got here in korea. Im on Olleh service telecom, I believe its called. My phone model is a SM900 NK, I managed to root it with towel root, so im currently running kitkat rooted.
Though before I rooted it, I was playing music through the headphone jack to speakers via auxillary. I went to pick up my phone and as soon as I did, I heard a loud cracking noise. Now at low volumes anything through the headphone jack is outputted with an extremely static noise. To me it sounds like a resistor somewhere was blown, especially because when I turn the volume to max, the static noise is less intense. But definitely still very unlistenable
But the weirdest thing is, when I plug in the USB cable to charge it and connect the USB tether for internet on my desktop, the static noise will only play slightly when there is no audio being played (music, etc). I can even unplug the USB cable and play music normally just fine through headphones, but the issue with this is the phone will get extremely hot and begin draining the battery like crazy. Once I stop the music again itll cool off. Restarting the phone will cause the static noise to play intensly at all times again. Plugging in the USB tether again will fix this issue again, but still cause it to overheat/drain the battery. All of this is just an issue with the headphone aux jack. I can always play music through the phones speaker normally.
Last night my phone got so hot it said that the battery charging was paused because the battery was too hot
If someone knows anything about this issue that would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe you have a short in the phone:fingers-crossed: ..
anyways i wanted to ask did you try using another aux cable to your speaker?? Could be the cable itself is short.

I really hope its not a short.. id have to replace the motherboard if it is right?
And yes I have tried different headphones, cables, and speakers. It seems to be the headphone jack

Hope its not a short.. it could be the connector itself has gone bad. No way that i can think of to accurately check that without opening the phone..
You will have to give it to service to sort this thing i am thinking. Should be free if you are in warranty
If that's hardware issue, you may need the failed part replaced but you should check if that is software issue first, when its hot try use some process monitoring apps to see which process is causing the problem and try reset your phone to isolate any software issue.

Hi, recently my Nexus refused to charge. I mean it was said it's charging, but percent was always the same (even when turned off). It turned out that it was an issue with usb charging port. So I've bought a new charging port, which is also merged with headphone jack port. Anyway after replacing old charging port nexus charges fine. However later I've been watching youtube video on it with sound on speaker. Every small move disables sound. It looks like it's getting "inserted headphones" event all the time. How can I fix this except buying next charging port? I've found two apps which can toggle between speaker and headphones, but problem is it's changing all the time so I probably need something with endlessly forces my nexus to stay on speaker. I don't use headphones anyway. And my device is rooted which may somehow help.
Regards
Anyone help?
I'm not sure, but maybe it's a issue with flat cable. Some time ago, I didn't put the flat cable well in my board and in headphone I hear only the left speaker
I can't believe that no one has been asking about this and/or is annoyed by this yet...
But the headphone jack is on the bottom of the phone
therefore if you stand it on a wireless charging stand, and listen to music - you need to have the phone upside down on the stand.
Maybe I am just anal but I really want my Always On Display to not be upside down when I am listening to music and charging
I have autotools and tasker, so I know how to force rotations and such.
Also I have Adaptive Auto Rotate which is a cool app that lets you do per-app orientation settings, etc.
But I CANNOT get the always on display to reverse portrait for the life of me.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
I personally hate the wires charger because you cannot use the phone while it is charging.
Using wired headphones and a wireless charger sounds painful.
Instead of tweaking the phone as you suggested in your post, why not just invest in some wireless headphones?
Samsung Level U Pros are like 40 dollars on Amazon, I use them and I'm pretty happy with them.

In my opinion, wired headphones provide better audio quality - also you can get much higher end wired headphones with more choices, etc
Listening while plugged in and on charger is fine because whenever I want to do something on my phone, I just pick it up and do it - then put it back down.
Sure, you aren't charging during those moments when you have it in your hand, but oh well.
Also the convenience of putting the phone on a stand without fiddling with connections to charge, lends to putting it on the stand more often throughout the day - just as its "resting place".
So yeah, you can't do much while its charging (besides swiping and tapping without holding it) - but you put it down there more often as just a place to put it down - so I think its a "net profit" for the situation..
... Still hoping for someone with a potential idea in regards to my situation, not just a "don't do that"
Thanks!
I think this is why samsung start selling the pad version of the charger, not the stand like in s7 edge time,
They notice,
This gonna happen sooner or later.
Replaced the battery with a Cameron Sino in my Axon, after I plugged in the new battery the phone started vibrating in a set pattern.
2 vibrations separated by 2-3 seconds, then after 10-15 seconds, one more vibration. Each vibration always flashes the red charging light.
Plugging it into power does nothing. Unplugging the battery stops the vibration and shows the red power light when plugged in, but it won't turn on still.
Anyone able to help me diagnose the problem?
Using an unlocked bootloader with lineageos 15.1, but I don't believe it's the issue right now.
Have you tried plugging in the old battery? Is it still doing the same? I am planning to change my battery too after I get a new phone properly set up and running. I will be using my A7 afterwards as a media player only more or less as there is simply nothing that will tick all the boxes at the same time, especially 3.5 mm. audio jack, (extra amplifier) quality audio plus Dolby Atmos. I was thinking of getting the ROG 2 but it looks like it is plagued with a lot of software problems, no VoLTE/WiFi and it is crazy expensive just for a battery, already old chip and underutilised 120Hz display so I may go for the Samsung S20/Note 10+ series, One Plus from 2019 or the incoming Huawei's instead. I was also considering LG (3.5mm jack + quad dac) until I found their newer phone batteries are as bad as the Sony's and the Pixel's.
