audio being interrupted when unlocking screen - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

when any kind of audio is being played back, if I unlock or wake the screen the audio is interrupted/paused. This occurs when playing back audio through the phone's speaker, bluetooth, or headsets.
I have also noticed that it sometimes makes the same sound as when I start Google Now/Voice search, but not always. I have some programs like Media Button Router that are being impacted because their text to speech outputs are being silenced whenever they wake up the phone.
I have gone through and disabled app after app using titanium backup, but haven't found the culprit yet.
Screen lock sounds are disabled as well.
Even things like audio control of the alarm no longer work properly because the audio is being interrupted when the screen is woken up.
any ideas?

bump: any ideas? this is a really annoying issue.

Freezing issue with sound playback ( qtek 9100 )

searched the forums, never saw this mentioned.
i have a weird issue on my qtek. every time the sound playback starts, i get a freeze of a second or so. so the freeze actually occurs before the sound is played back.
initially i thought that the entire device is just slow, but then i installed a game where this became very obvious ( Dyna/Bomber ). every time the bomb was going to explode, the screen froze for a second or so, and then sound was played back and it moved on. so i turned off ingame sounds and everything was fast.
after that i went into settings/sounds&notifications, turned off "enable sounds for .. Events ( warnings, system events ) and voila, my start menu opens in a snap, instead of two seconds it usually took. Actually all menus, as every menu click has a default "click" sound for it.
But the root issue remains, every sound playback causes a system freeze, any idea on what to check or where do i start debugging the problem ?
i have got a few programs installed, and i really would not like to do a hard reset.
got the k-jam myself, but have to say not a problem i have ever had,
what program are you using for music?
its not the issue with playing music specifically, its with _any_ sound, like system beeps, sounds in menus etc etc. every clip of voice that comes starts out of speaker freezes the system for a second. so i have most of notification sounds turned off
i had a problem at one time with sound, caused by a music player changing the asociations of some audio files, so an audio player was trying to play the ringing tone etc.
sorry cant remember what program it was?

Experience with "Disable Autoplay" app

I've been experiencing the "bug" where I would plug in a set of headphones and the Music app would start playing, even with it previously closed. Sometimes I would get sound out of both the headphones and speakers (with terrible quality, BTW) and would have to unplug and plug in the headphones again.
So I searched and found a free app called Disable Autoplay. I installed it last night and when I got to work this morning and plugged in my headphones, PowerAMP started up and started playing music, badly. I figured out that there's an option within Poweramp itself to stop that behavior, but it still sounded like crap no matter what I did, even toggling media control off/on/off in the Disable Autoplay app. I even uninstalled the app, then rebooted, same issue.
Finally I had to toggle Dolby Digital off then back on in Settings in order to get good sounding audio back.
I haven't had the Music app, or nemoplayer (which sometimes exhibited the same behavior as Music) autostart at all this morning, which is good, and I've edited the options in Poweramp not to start (or resume) when headphones are inserted or removed.
Has anyone else used this app and had these types of issues? I'm wondering if I reinstall it if I'm going to get the crappy audio again and won't be able to toggle Dolby off/on again to get it back. I'm really wondering if I should bother reinstalling it, since Music isn't doing its autostart anymore anyway.
Well this is crap. Every time I reboot my Tab, I have to toggle Dolby off and on in order for audio to sound right. Time for a reset.
I suggest staying away from Disable Autoplay. It seems to have do bad things, at least to the Iconia.

Screen doesn't timeout when playing music with bluetooth device

I just updated my unrooted Note 3 to Lollipop 5.0 and I noticed some strange behaviour that I didn't experience with KitKat. When I play music through any sort of bluetooth device, the display won't timeout. It will just stay on as long as the music is playing. If I pause the music, the screen will eventually timeout to whatever it's set at (I set it at 15 seconds just for testing purposes). This doesn't happen when using ordinary headphones plugged into the phone. This also doesn't happen if just playing the music through the speakers. The issue happens on all music apps.
I also have another problem that might be related. When I have a bluetooth device connected, I can't raise the volume past 10. The volume warning dialog box would pop up really quick, then go away.
I was just wondering if anyone else can do a test and see if they experience the same problem.
*UPDATE*
I eventually did a factory reset and it fixed all the issues I mentioned above.
*UPDATE 2*
Found out it was actually the app called "Don't Pause Pro!" that was causing the issues.

Mutes sound without apperant reason

Hi,
Recently came across this strange behavior on my nexus 6p device, not sure if it’s a bug or if I am missing something. This is what happens:
I am listening to media, for example a podcast from Pocket casts with wired headphones. As soon as I lock the screen and put the device in my pocket the sound stops, I go in to the application that is playing the sound and see that it is still playing even though I don’t hear any sound. I use the volume rocker to have a look at the sound settings and don’t see any reason as to why it has stopped producing sound. The same goes for Spotify so it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the applications. In order to get the sound back I need to pause the podcast\song and press play again
I can almost simulate this whenever I want by putting it in my pocket, it gets muted right when the lining of my pants covers the bottom speaker (on the usb side).
Found a solution, *I went into the "Ok Google" detection settings and disabled "Always on" and "Trusted voice" and then deleted my recorded recognition, it seems to have fixed the problem.
If I turn them back on, the problem appears again

[SOLVED] sound problems

now i've had my s7e for about 3 days and i've found another problem, this time far more annoying than the camera issue
whenever i play something that has audio and then pause it, a beep tone accompanied by static plays for about 5 seconds after pausing
it plays through headphones, the phone's speaker and even my pc speakers with the screen being cast to my computer and it sounds like this (amplified a lot): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_um5z60hM5zR0hBajhoNUNpeHc/view?usp=drivesdk
i have an equalizer installed, but turning that off changes nothing
it happens in poweramp, samsung's stock music player, youtube, basically literally every app that plays sound
rebooting fixes nothing
all the sound options like the uhq upscaler and everything else are off, the built in equalizer is on normal, turning off adapt sound doesn't do anything
the beeps seem to vary in pitch at random
edit: turns out, the EQ app i was using was causing this strange tone. welp
