I've been experiencing the "bug" where I would plug in a set of headphones and the Music app would start playing, even with it previously closed. Sometimes I would get sound out of both the headphones and speakers (with terrible quality, BTW) and would have to unplug and plug in the headphones again.
So I searched and found a free app called Disable Autoplay. I installed it last night and when I got to work this morning and plugged in my headphones, PowerAMP started up and started playing music, badly. I figured out that there's an option within Poweramp itself to stop that behavior, but it still sounded like crap no matter what I did, even toggling media control off/on/off in the Disable Autoplay app. I even uninstalled the app, then rebooted, same issue.
Finally I had to toggle Dolby Digital off then back on in Settings in order to get good sounding audio back.
I haven't had the Music app, or nemoplayer (which sometimes exhibited the same behavior as Music) autostart at all this morning, which is good, and I've edited the options in Poweramp not to start (or resume) when headphones are inserted or removed.
Has anyone else used this app and had these types of issues? I'm wondering if I reinstall it if I'm going to get the crappy audio again and won't be able to toggle Dolby off/on again to get it back. I'm really wondering if I should bother reinstalling it, since Music isn't doing its autostart anymore anyway.
Well this is crap. Every time I reboot my Tab, I have to toggle Dolby off and on in order for audio to sound right. Time for a reset.
I suggest staying away from Disable Autoplay. It seems to have do bad things, at least to the Iconia.

Before you all yell at me for making another thread about this (I know one exists, that's what I originally found when I searched), this is a different issue.
I'm sitting here in my office at work playing music off my TF, and everything goes well for a while. Then about 30 minutes in, the speakers will start constantly popping during playback. It starts out softly, then gets progressively worse (to the point where it sounds like a dirty record).
However, the first time it happened, I held down the power button and rebooted the TF and that fixed it. Then about 30 minutes later, it started happening again. So instead of rebooting, I decided to try force stopping the Music app (I'm using Google's Music) to see if it's a software issue. And boom, the popping is gone after restarting Music. Weird. Because it sounds like it should be a hardware issue... but restarting the app making the audio seems to fix it. Next time it happens I'll try just opening up Youtube and seeing if it persists.
Anyone else getting this? I'm on stock un-rooted 3.1.
Hey, I seem to have this problem as well,
and only in the Music App.
I'm using headphone to listen to music,
and it just happened about 5 minutes ago,
I decided to unplug the headphone and replug it and it seem to fix the problem,
and then when it happened again, I switched to the Youtube app immediately and the sound was perfectly normal in Youtube.
So I'm suspecting its actually the Music app's issue.
may I ask if you are listening to music you stored online or from your device?
Are you streaming the music? Using any apps like equalizer or volume+?
Also happened to me today for the first time...and I am using volume+
I guess ill turn it off if it happens again and see if its that.
This happens to me when listening to music and the transformer sleeps, it takes a good 3 minutes then finally changes tracks. Once changed though I get this cracking nose also.

Same thing happens to me only when listening to google music. Will play normally at times, then popping will suddenly happen. I've listened to Squeezebox streams on my TF for extended periods with no popping, so I also suspect it has something to do with google music.
It would be nice to narrow down the cause and come up with a workaround.
used to have this problem when using older version of thumb keyboard, the typing sound produced this cracking noise. but fixed when I upgrade the thumb keyboard ;-)
+1 here.
Headphones, using Music player. I'm not using any special other apps to boost volume output. My headphones work just fine with any other device.
Unplugging and reconnecting the headphones seems to fix the issue. I haven't tested to see if this is exclusively with just the Music app or not.

Same issue, unplugging headphones fixes.
Running an OC kernel w/ Voodoo Sound, and Prime 1.4. Kinda points to an issue with software, I don't think i can blame the Player, more like the drivers/OS. Getting into a grove coding, i left my headphones on with no songs playing, and there was still an occasional crackle.
Really bummed, because this is a sweet music playback device with quality headphones and an amp'd signal.
Update: Flashed Asus 3.1 with CW Recovery mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112527) and popping gone. Still running OC kernel.
when any kind of audio is being played back, if I unlock or wake the screen the audio is interrupted/paused. This occurs when playing back audio through the phone's speaker, bluetooth, or headsets.
I have also noticed that it sometimes makes the same sound as when I start Google Now/Voice search, but not always. I have some programs like Media Button Router that are being impacted because their text to speech outputs are being silenced whenever they wake up the phone.
I have gone through and disabled app after app using titanium backup, but haven't found the culprit yet.
Screen lock sounds are disabled as well.
Even things like audio control of the alarm no longer work properly because the audio is being interrupted when the screen is woken up.
any ideas?
bump: any ideas? this is a really annoying issue.
HI,
When i use my nexus 7 2012 as a morning alarm the alarm sounds fine and doesnt stop until i stop it. If i try to play sound via an app, for example an app called Relax Melodies the sound starts and after 1 second stops. I have replaced the speakers but still no good.
Any ideas what is stopping the sound?
Cheers
it seems that my device was sending audio to a non existent headphone that wasnt actually attached. i downloaded soundabout and chose all media to go to speaker and it sorted the problem.
it did however keep coming up warning about where the audio was routing so i went into soundabout settings, connected devices and told it to not monitor the headphone jack for connection and all is good.
I have a weird sound problem with my S7 Edge, and it doesn't seem to be the same as in other threads on here.
This only happens when I connect to my car Aux socket via an aux cable, and it also only happens with certain music apps.
When I use Poweramp, everything is fine. Music plays faultlessly and sound quality is great. However, sometimes I use another music app, Player Pro, if I want to play something else, but save my place in my current Poweramp playlist. This is when the problem starts of random, but quite loud 'clicking' during music playback. This 'clicking' sounds almost like a 'chirp', and there seem to be two 'chirps' very close together, as the sound appears to sweep from the right to left channels, but I think it's one 'chirp' coming out of each channel, making it sound like two (if that makes sense!). If I then use another music app, say, Black Player, after using Player Pro, the 'chirping' is still there, but if I reboot the phone, and don't use Player Pro, then Black Player plays OK. I know this sounds really convoluted, but I prefer the sound quality from Player Pro, so ideally, I'd like to use that, and Player Pro plays fine via Bluetooth.
So, it seems that the problem could be with Player Pro, yes? However, today, I installed JetAudio HD, without first using Player Pro, and the clicking / chirping started with that too!
I've tried with UHQ Upscaler (in S7 settings) on and off and this seems to make no difference. With UHQ Upscaler on, this seems to mess with the volume on Poweramp, so I don't have it switched on. It seems to me that there's a compatibility issue somewhere with something in certain music players, and the stock Samsung sound settings, but in the S7 sound settings, I have everything switched off, so that the music player apps can take care of EQs etc.
I'm tearing my hair out with this, as sometimes, Player Pro will play all day long without any problems, so this is so random that it seems impossible to work out where the problem lies.
Can anyone suggest anything? I haven't been threatened with Oreo for this phone yet, and actually have auto-updates switched off, as I don't want it, having already had it ruin my HTC 10.
Hello, new to forum. I tried searching but I have several questions that I can’t quite pinpoint so decided to just ask.
Recently purchased a cheap Android head unit off eBay for my suburban. Immediately after install I was disappointed and frustrated trying to figure everything out, but now I’m thinking it’s not user error but more of a software issue or a settings issue I’m not familiar with.
I’ll get straight to it.
Once installed I had no sound through Bluetooth, usb, or any installed app (YouTube, Apple Music, etc).
I found that the radio app did work, and after tinkering with some settings I got Bluetooth working (not sure what I did, think I was in the equalizer car settings). Well the next day I drove it for the first time and after a few minutes sound went out again. Switched to radio and works fine. So I did a full factory reset, and now it’s really screwy.
Now, Bluetooth only plays if I open the radio app. Radio does not work at all, the app opens and acts frozen, but if I hit play on my phone I get my music. If I open the Bluetooth app, sound cuts off. Music still shows playing on my phone, and when i reopen the radio app it pauses on the phone, I hit play and sound comes back. Still no sound through YouTube or any other music source, BUT voice turn by turn works through google maps.
I’ve tried doing a factory reset multiple times now (yes the full reset).
I tried downloading a new launcher, started with the carwebguru which resulted for some reason music only playing when the radio app was open, if I went back to the home screen or changed apps sound cut out. So I deleted it and downloaded FCC and it’s back to the way it was, Bluetooth plays through the radio app, and I can now switch back to other apps and music continues playing until I reopen another app that plays sound.
So, does this sound like this is a settings issue, hardware issue, or app issue? If it’s an app issue, what are some good apps to replace them with? I see a ton of fm radio apps but not sure if they’ll work, not really any Bluetooth apps, and I use Apple Music on my iPhone and have it downloaded on the stereo (although it doesn’t have sound, either).
Thanks!
Update. After playing around with some settings, I’m feel like I’m getting somewhere but not fixing the issue.
I went under the factory settings from car settings. Radio settings were set to NXP6851 and I changed it to FM Inside.
After doing so, the radio app works flawless but Bluetooth no longer plays through the radio app. Still no sound from YouTube or Apple Music.
So I set it back to the NXP6851 and sure enough, radio app is frozen and Bluetooth plays from my phone through the radio app.
I made a test phone call and Bluetooth works, but only through the radio app. If I open the Bluetooth app all sounds shut off.
Now, after playing around with it, I found that I can get the internal apps to play sound if I do the following: open radio, play music through my phone, back to home screen and open an app (Apple Music is what I used) and hit the play button. It stopped the music from my phone and started playing through the app!
I was excited as all hell, but it only played for maybe 5 minutes then the sound shut off again. Cleared all apps and sure enough, again the same process let me play music through the apps but only produce sound for a few minutes (not even one song).
Still messing with it. Anybody have any advice?
Thanks!
Figured it out. Not sure why but there’s an app called “mode” with two arrows in a circle. Hit it once and now everything works as it should. If i hit it again it goes back to just the radio working.
