Pure edition here. Using old SIM from original first generation Moto X.
Pure edition on At&t go phone plan still waiting for OTA. I actually had to get a new sim as the one from my original moto x 2013 was causing fits. I hope we are not the forgotten ones!
Anyone know how long it should take on the average to push these OTA's?
I don't think anyone has got it other than the people on the soak test. I know the LG G3 got it today and the Nexus 5 did as well. So looks like Moto X will be 3rd in line....
Same boat here. PE on AT&T, mobile share plan with new SIM.

Soak is actually done and final images are indeed being pushed out. OTAs are pushed in stages though and it can take up to a few weeks to get it. You can always download the ota zip from the thread here and install it. it is motorola oficial file so, assuming you have a pure edition phone you should be good to go!

I can't comment if it has rolled out or not but the ota zip that has been captured is from the soak test. We are yet to capture the one from the official ota, even if it is supposedly the same build.

I believe that final version is 22.11.6 and that is the same that is hosted on graffixnyc's thread. I think that soak files were up to .5.
Then again, i may be wrong but this is what I gather from around the web.

A friend of mine has a LG G3 and nothing so far.
Pure Edition on T-Mobile with SIM that shipped with phone and nothing yet for me.
32GB Pure Edition here, no OTA.
It's really starting to look like they pulled it. I haven't heard of anyone getting it in the last few days.
I have two going theories right now:
1) The OTA push was a mistake and they simply meant to expand the soak, but messed up. Once they caught it, they stopped the OTA from going any further.
2) They were spooked by the L specific bugs that have been reported, and pulled the OTA. Also maybe having something to do with moto specific customizations. Such as the conflict between the new Google Search always listening feature and Moto Voice? Etc etc.
I have another theory : this was just a rush between lg, moto and others for marketing purposes. Just bad announcement and paper launch but nothing is ready yet.

LOL that's entirely possible. Over promise and under deliver can only get you temporary good press, though
If true, it will eventually come to bite Moto on the ass.

The otas for the n5 and 4 have been pulled because of an sms bug, the n6 is also affected and so seems the moto x from my own experience, although this bug only seems to affect vodafone.nl users
I just received my Pure Edition today, and I haven't seen anything regarding the update yet. I was contemplating flashing the soak zip, but I think I'll wait until the update actually hits. 4.4.4 is good enough for me right now, anyway... especially since it doesn't have all the crap that my Note 3 had on it.
Apparently a couple of the HTC phone are being updated in Friday Nov 21.....
I had direct correspondence with an engineer from Motorola regarding some of the bugs. He has gone silent in the last week.
I would also find it plausible that they have stopped the roll out and will be pushing a new update when bugs are ironed out. He and I were talking about the Bluetooth streaming issues.

The official build is .6 doesn't matter if it came from that last soak test or not. A build is a build. The .6 from the soak test turned out to be the official build. Now if the build number had been different that's one story.. And also just FYI.. The .6 zip in my thread.. Was taken from a guy not even part of the soak test, he never signed up. The .5 zip was taken from someone in the soak test but not the .6 one. I wish people would know what they are talking about before they just say things.
I'm sure its still in the soak test phase. I bet we are still a couple of weeks off from getting the official update for everyone...

Why would Motorola be pushing a soak test at the same time Verizon is releasing an official update, to the same release? I understand you got the email, a lot of people did but on Friday of last week, that was basically negated by the official Verizon memo that the Jelly Bean OTA update would be starting roll out this week. How exactly can you be 100% sure its not the OTA?
Yeah I find this very odd that Verizon put out a public press release announcing that Jelly Bean would be pushed this week before the soak was released. Oh well , we will see what happens. Please post if you did NOT sign up for the soak and received the Jelly Bean OTA

Yeah, that doesn't show me how you are 100% sure.
At this point this just seems weird that they are pushing at the same time. I would almost guess that they worked together and Verizon is pushing first to those that signed up, then will go to the rest of the users by the end of the week. My issue is a true soak test should happen a good deal before OTA as to fix any unknown bugs. Just seems weird to me and I doubt there is any actual way to verify who your update actually came from since I am sure its the same version.

You have 8 posts under your name and you are establishing "official" threads? I am not trying to school you or embarrass you but you need to read through the forums to make sure your question/ statement hasn't already been threaded.
People who have recieved the soak test in other threads are report a version number of 9.8.1Q_39. Since Verizon has already said they are pushing 9.1.41 it makes me wonder if Moto is pushing a version to fix all the bugs we are going to find in the OTA Verizon is pushing this week? It would make a lot more sense with a soak test and official OTA seemingly going on at the same time.
If this is the case I would not be suprised if the VZW OTA is "delayed". Meaning Verizon knows the OTA is buggy, but annouced it to meet a deadline.

He stated it in an earlier post. This is starting to make a little bit more sense than them running a soak test at the same time as the Verizon OTA. I must have missed the soak test window :crying:
You haven't really missed a soak. We've only had it 24 hours so far. I'd bet Verizon wants it asap as the HDs are still a premium price phone and they hope to sell a lot through the holidays.
I gotta admit i do feel kinda gypped after the signup process and agreements, then having to report experiences with it, that i only have it a few days early. Feels like a waste of everyone's time and it was only done because there's a department in Moto that handles soak testing that got steamrolled by corporate demands.
Oh well, at least it will keep us on the list for the next official soak.

I never understood why the carriers didn't have an opt-in program to get updates ASAP that essentially cut off your customer service if you opted in. Here, you can do it, but no, we won't help you. Its a flag on your account, so anywhere you go they'll see it and know not to help you. Their point is that they don't want to help people on 'untested' updates... fine then, don't help them. But this would be a HUGE PR boon for whatever carrier does it.
This is good news! Hopefully Verizon won't be too far behind. Maybe a couple weeks like the camera update.

It's basically an opt-in staged roll out. If you register, you have the ability to be the first to receive an update... so there's a sizeable pool for motorola to determine if there are any major bugs before giving it to the masses. Typically, these things happen and everyone else gets the update about a week later.

A soak test is where a group of people are chosen to do a sort of private beta test on the firmware, to make sure things don't assplode or catch fire before the software is rolled out to everyone.

It's probably because to most people updates are not something they think about. The people that unsupported updates would appeal to are probably very small and at least to the carriers probably seems more complicated to have more programs rather than less.
The other concern of theirs isn't support. It's about their network. Verizon is really strict about how their network can be used and that's a big part of the reason that ATT got the iPhone for years before verizon. They want absolute control over how the network is used probably due to a fear of a small number of devices clogging up bandwidth.
The funny thing is in spite of the rules bootloaders get unlocked. Phones get rooted. ROMs get flashed and it doesn't seem to cause many apparent problems.
Edit: and I'll just add that most carrier support is clueless anyway - most answers are
-reset your phone
-delete all of your apps.
-do something you already tried.
I hope 4.4 kit kat won't affect Moto X's good battery life.
Thanks to David Schuster, we have a nice clear and concise distinction. (https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/7gyi8NQZTZB)
TestDrive --> Early validation to a small group (20-200) of individuals that can last weeks to months.
Soak Test --> Next stage, using the final release candidate lasting usually 2-7 days.
Full deployment --> Last stage, full roll out of update.

Motorola support employees know nothing about updates. They are reading from a script, and they don't really know what to say about future updates. So, yeah, no pinches of salt, just ignore whatever they say.

Here is everything we know for certain about the update: the X Pure/Style is on the upgrade list.
That's it.
Wonder if it'll be 7.0 or 7.1.1. Somehow I get the feeling we're going to get the shaft and end up with 7.0.
Well i probably guess it could be 7.1.1 even nexus 6 got 7.1.1 so we could also get the same

I am hoping for this too. But the fact is there is absolutely nothing official from Motorola regarding version or time frame at this time. All we know is that they plan to update the Moto X Pure/Style. Anything else is just speculation.

While not sure if this happened to DU but I do know that for awhile mods and admins here were allowing people to take credit for work they did not do. A number of Devs got very angry when little jerks were taking their work and renaming Roms and using tools they had built without giving credit. This blew up into a big tiff and a number of very good devs left XDA and even some major project players like DU left and have not been back. I have no idea why this was allowed to transpire but it was ugly for about a year. I suspect there were other behind the scenes issues that I as a non dev was not aware of as well.

No... No one has gotten it or seen any news on it at all, in fact it is entirely possible it won't happen at all.
If it occurs, the soonest we would see a mass roll-out is early March knowing Moto's 45-60 day soak test policy.
Patience...
Meh. I really want to upgrade, but I'm still on LP! It's gonna suck going to MM then N. Not looking forward to it!

I am kind of worried about this. I have my SD card formatted as "internal storage". If I update to 7.0 will this interfere and make me lose all my data like photos and videos?
Don't forget, anyone participating in a soak test is NDA'd from even discussing that they're participating in a soak test .... so there's really no way to even know if it's under test somewhere.
