Here is everything we know for certain about the update: the X Pure/Style is on the upgrade list.
That's it.
Wonder if it'll be 7.0 or 7.1.1. Somehow I get the feeling we're going to get the shaft and end up with 7.0.
Well i probably guess it could be 7.1.1 even nexus 6 got 7.1.1 so we could also get the same

I am hoping for this too. But the fact is there is absolutely nothing official from Motorola regarding version or time frame at this time. All we know is that they plan to update the Moto X Pure/Style. Anything else is just speculation.
Posted in the wrong thread sorry. I have corrected the error.

While not sure if this happened to DU but I do know that for awhile mods and admins here were allowing people to take credit for work they did not do. A number of Devs got very angry when little jerks were taking their work and renaming Roms and using tools they had built without giving credit. This blew up into a big tiff and a number of very good devs left XDA and even some major project players like DU left and have not been back. I have no idea why this was allowed to transpire but it was ugly for about a year. I suspect there were other behind the scenes issues that I as a non dev was not aware of as well.

No... No one has gotten it or seen any news on it at all, in fact it is entirely possible it won't happen at all.
If it occurs, the soonest we would see a mass roll-out is early March knowing Moto's 45-60 day soak test policy.
Patience...
Meh. I really want to upgrade, but I'm still on LP! It's gonna suck going to MM then N. Not looking forward to it!
any news ?
I am kind of worried about this. I have my SD card formatted as "internal storage". If I update to 7.0 will this interfere and make me lose all my data like photos and videos?
Don't forget, anyone participating in a soak test is NDA'd from even discussing that they're participating in a soak test .... so there's really no way to even know if it's under test somewhere.

What kind of card are you using? I have messed up a SanDisk ultra a lexar and a Samsung card using it as internal. It stopped reading it and then everything in my cards was lost.
I just received a security update today for my Moto X Pure. Is that a precursor for Android 7?
No not really just a regular security update roll up. Moto has been sending them out every 3 to 4 months and they are usually several months behind when they come out.

I hope so, im in pain seeing users here from AT&T enjoying their 4.4.

Obviously, the carriers will **** around like they always do. But that's not Motorola's fault really.

I never understood why the carriers didn't have an opt-in program to get updates ASAP that essentially cut off your customer service if you opted in. Here, you can do it, but no, we won't help you. Its a flag on your account, so anywhere you go they'll see it and know not to help you. Their point is that they don't want to help people on 'untested' updates... fine then, don't help them. But this would be a HUGE PR boon for whatever carrier does it.
This is good news! Hopefully Verizon won't be too far behind. Maybe a couple weeks like the camera update.

It's basically an opt-in staged roll out. If you register, you have the ability to be the first to receive an update... so there's a sizeable pool for motorola to determine if there are any major bugs before giving it to the masses. Typically, these things happen and everyone else gets the update about a week later.

A soak test is where a group of people are chosen to do a sort of private beta test on the firmware, to make sure things don't assplode or catch fire before the software is rolled out to everyone.

It's probably because to most people updates are not something they think about. The people that unsupported updates would appeal to are probably very small and at least to the carriers probably seems more complicated to have more programs rather than less.
The other concern of theirs isn't support. It's about their network. Verizon is really strict about how their network can be used and that's a big part of the reason that ATT got the iPhone for years before verizon. They want absolute control over how the network is used probably due to a fear of a small number of devices clogging up bandwidth.
The funny thing is in spite of the rules bootloaders get unlocked. Phones get rooted. ROMs get flashed and it doesn't seem to cause many apparent problems.
Edit: and I'll just add that most carrier support is clueless anyway - most answers are
-reset your phone
-delete all of your apps.
-do something you already tried.
I hope 4.4 kit kat won't affect Moto X's good battery life.
I was talking to live chat with Motorola support and managed to get connected to an employee who seemed to not care that the chat session was monitored.
I was asking about general stuff related to my battery and the Turbo. Towards the end of the chat I figured this guy might have some kind of idea whats going on in the company that he works for. So I asked about the release date for 5.0.
He answered very enthusiastically and hinted that Motorola is ready to release the update and that the only thing next on their list is to select an official Advert with Verizon. From the sound of it - we will not be experiencing the usual delay that Verizon has created for updates. Expect Lollipop on your Droid Turbo by December 1st.
Me personally. I'm waiting for root and boot unlock. But for all of you happy with Lollipop the wait is not too long.
Lets see if this all plays true come December 1st.

Yeah, with JCase saying that Sunshine V3.0 can't support Motorola on 4.4.4, and the secure kernel crap that will block root on Lollipop, I think this phone will stay stock unless a Chinese middleman pops up again or something.
Guys just realize you can kiss any hope of an unlock and root exploit goodbye if you update. It's going to suck; either choose unlock or 5.0
I pretty much left root behind when I got the Turbo. Moved to the share plan so I don't need the hotspot hack. I used TiBu a lot moving from phone to phone and ROM to ROM but I really didn't have much data that I had to have. Mostly when I was listening to back catalogs of Podcasts I would want to restore the app I was using so it kept my place. Now I have moved on to something different. And I did lose some game data but it was stupid stuff like Temple Run and Monsters Ate My Condo, nothing like an RPG or something. And really thats what root did for me. I am ready for 5.0.
I also think that the 5.0 update will have VoLTE. Maybe they got Google to roll it into 5.0 so instead of hitting each device individually with a VoLTE update, if they get 5.0 they will also get VoLTE (and it brings the Nexus 6 on VoLTE faster as well).

Chainfires detailed post on how root will more than likely (read; definitely) going to need a custom kernel to work. Kernel flashes need an unlocked bootloader. 5.0 comes with even more selinux restrictions which make any kind of exploitation harder. All in all, 5.0 is way more locked down and harder to unlock. Simply getting a root exploit without unlock is not likely

Pure edition on At&t go phone plan still waiting for OTA. I actually had to get a new sim as the one from my original moto x 2013 was causing fits. I hope we are not the forgotten ones!

Pure Edition on T-Mobile with SIM that shipped with phone and nothing yet for me.
32GB Pure Edition here, no OTA.
It's really starting to look like they pulled it. I haven't heard of anyone getting it in the last few days.
I have two going theories right now:
1) The OTA push was a mistake and they simply meant to expand the soak, but messed up. Once they caught it, they stopped the OTA from going any further.
2) They were spooked by the L specific bugs that have been reported, and pulled the OTA. Also maybe having something to do with moto specific customizations. Such as the conflict between the new Google Search always listening feature and Moto Voice? Etc etc.
I have another theory : this was just a rush between lg, moto and others for marketing purposes. Just bad announcement and paper launch but nothing is ready yet.

I just received my Pure Edition today, and I haven't seen anything regarding the update yet. I was contemplating flashing the soak zip, but I think I'll wait until the update actually hits. 4.4.4 is good enough for me right now, anyway... especially since it doesn't have all the crap that my Note 3 had on it.
Apparently a couple of the HTC phone are being updated in Friday Nov 21.....
I had direct correspondence with an engineer from Motorola regarding some of the bugs. He has gone silent in the last week.
I would also find it plausible that they have stopped the roll out and will be pushing a new update when bugs are ironed out. He and I were talking about the Bluetooth streaming issues.

The official build is .6 doesn't matter if it came from that last soak test or not. A build is a build. The .6 from the soak test turned out to be the official build. Now if the build number had been different that's one story.. And also just FYI.. The .6 zip in my thread.. Was taken from a guy not even part of the soak test, he never signed up. The .5 zip was taken from someone in the soak test but not the .6 one. I wish people would know what they are talking about before they just say things.

Yes, US has been the very last region to update both times, so far, and I expect it will be again this time, too. The second update didn't take long at all to get to every US user, though, once the US update pushed. By the time I got my notification everyone else already had it and the update URL was all but pointless. I'm not really all that concerned with getting this one, but man I hope that 6.0 update hits every region fast. We're building a larger user base now, though, so maybe we'll get lucky and XDA members from each region will be among the early people to get the push notification.

Yep. It's really disappointing.
Why? Because f**k us, that's why!
Likely just an issue of them taking their sweet-assed time putting their bloatware applications into the firmware, and I'm sure they've been extra slow after the official 7.0 worldwide rollout started and was halted for a whole like 2-3 days after a couple of bugs surfaced.
I always get a new phone by the time Verizon gives me an update. I know someone that got nougat on his T-Mobile GS7 Edge and someone that got her GS7 update last night on Sprint.

I don't think it's related to Verizon bloat considering the turbo 2 is getting the update now. I'm really annoyed that one of the top selling, highest rated phones of the year is taking this long to update.

Verizon has always been one of the last (if not the last) to roll out updates.

My wife just got her first smartphone and it was the Droid Moto Z Force and it already has Nougat on it. Jealous! That thing is monstrous in its size too. Bigger than my LG G3 was!
Stuck on buggy beta
It would be nice to receive the final update after being stuck on the beta for months, where every time my phone shuts off it resets all my settings and themes. But oh well, I guess Verizon just doesn't care about their customers all that much.

So I've got a link I'd like to share but I've never posted on here before so I need to post approximately 10 posts before I am able to post outside links. So I'm gonna go post on a couple things and once I'm able to I shall share the link with you guys.

That beta was unbearable. Constantly had issues with text messages on it for some reason. They would keep failing to send and I would miss messages from people as well. Very annoying.
