[Q] power off in lollipop - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flash lollipop, it works well, but something strange to me, there is no reboot menu?
When I push power off, there is only shut down, but no reboot, no silence mode, etc...
Am I wrong?

oh no, you're right. Even in KitKat there's no reboot option, and now there's no more silent mode too, it's moved to "interrupt" and priorities....

Really? When I said a reboot menu, I mean just the possibility to simply reboot. I really got 0 option now.
And for the priorities, I don't understand how it work...

mmmm you could install Quick Reboot or something similar, or you could use reboot option in Titanium Backup menu...
For the priorities, press volume down and the first option from left is "mute" (but no allarms too!!), hold volume down and you're in vibration mode... I don't know nothing more, for example how middle option of priority works....

There never has been a Reboot option in stock Android.

[Q] Myouch 4G

Hey, so i recently broke my mytouch4g. The volume up button seems to act as if its jammed, when its really not because i can still click it. So i called a local cell phone repair shop, and they didnt know what kind of cable the mytouch4g had for the volume buttons, and I'd like to know before i actually go out and try to get it fixed.
When i press the power button, it vibrates 3 times, then blinks an orange LED, screen somewhat lights up. if anyone could help me out on this, maybe by flashing something to get in a different mode instead of that, because after letting it sit for a day it finally turned on. but im afraid to turn it off and try again to see what happens.. Is there some sort of menu i could flash that'll get me to this? Thanks
Well you're booted up right now, in the Android OS right? Are you rooted? If so, flash CWM Recovery and flash a ROM. If not, don't know what to tell you. Not even sure if this answer is right. Anyone wanna back me up or give a better answer, be my guest. Hope this helps you somewhat.
CWM recovery? can you get to that with volume up + power ? and once i turn it off, it wont work again till i get if fixed. this has happened before

Yes CWM Recovery. If you already flash the recovery, you can get there through bootloader (volume DOWN + power) then select recovery.

Yeah see thats the thing. it doesnt let me do anything besides the volume up. it like, over rides everything. i cant get into bootloader, or recovery. jsut thus thing where it vibrates 3 times then blinks nonstop until the battery drains.

OK then. Download ROM Manager from the Play Store, flash the latest recovery, then select reboot into recovery.
Also, off topic, but...700th POST!

i dont think your getting it. when i power my phone off, completely off. and i try to turn it on, just by the power button. it automatically thinks im pressing volume up. i cant change it, no matter how many times i try to boot from volume down + power.
No clue then, sorry mate..

Can you get in to Bootloader?Me too recently had that kind of probem on my desire.Phone did not allow to get in to recovery.

Is it possible to change the options displayed when we long press the power button?

All other phones I have give me the option to restart the phone, but not on the N4.
Is there a way to show the "Restart" option when the power button is long pressed without rooting and installing custom rom?
Thanks.
Short answer: Nope
The Restart/Reboot or even Boot to recovery is a feature of most Custom ROMs and is not built with Android.
But as the Nexus 4 has no handy battery to move you have to hold the power button for several secons which then reboot the phone. That should be the easiest way to solve your 'problem'.
HTC also includes those features in Sense in its power button options. It can be done with a fairly simple mod and eventually I'm sure someone will post one in the dev section if it not already in there.

Thanks.
I don't know why is it not in vanilla Android. HTC, Samsung phones have the option.
For me, I use the Restart button more than the "Power Off" button.
I use Power Toggles from the Play Store to restart, reboot and get to recovery.

I use an app called Quickboot. It gives you the option to reboot, reboot into bootloader, reboot into recovery, etc.
+1 for Quickboot...simple and effective!

Thanks guy. I will try the apps.

Update 2.0.2 killing opened apps disappear

With 2.0.2 I can see all open apps by pressing square button. But I have to close 1 by 1. With 2.0 and 2.0.1 I could close all in 1 time by pressing cross button... Any solutions because with 4 gb ram the phone keeps a lot of open apps in memory.
But isn't that the point, keep apps in ram so it helps performance, drop them when more ram is needed. I would have the ram full all the time as long as it performs perfectly.

Enable google app & you could see a cross button
me too. same concern. Google ia enabled already on app managemnt
Reboot into safe mode then reboot as normal. This should bring it back up. Worked for me.

1. Power down the OnePlus
2. Hold the power down button until Android starts to boot up
3. As soon as Android starts booting up let go of the power button
4. Then immediately start holding both the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons
5. Continue holding both Volume buttons until it boots into the OS
Once it fully boots up just reboot the phone as normal. No need to do anything else.
It worked thanks a lot!
Nice one.
Didn't work for me
I rebooted into Safe Mode but the close all recent app option still doesn't appear. I have the Google app uninstalled, do I need to install it for this option to show up?
Yeah I would try that
no luck yet
Installed Google app, restarted in Safe Mode and still no close recent apps option.

I have already booted in Safe Mode and rebooted the device. Still doesn't work.
Maybe try and reflash the OS and see if that fixes it.

Recent button

Hi there,
I would like to ask if the clear all recents button was gone on your Oxygen OS after updating to 2.0.2
I just flashed the full rom and I just noticed that I don't have the button to clear all recent apps. Did I just changed any setting? I didn't remember any. Please remind me if there is something I need to change. Thanks
I have it on 2.0.2. Try rebooting to see if it comes back.

Same problem here. How can i reboot in safe mode?
press power button while it is on. Press and hold power off on your screen
1. Power down the OnePlus
2. Hold the power down button until Android starts to boot up

Why does it lose the clear all button? I've lost it twice in two days..... the Safe Mode reboot trick works, but only for a couple days it seems?
Any permanent solution?
Hie guys, found a permanent solution. If you are using xposed u can use the below mentioned module
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3223379
After root, I removed all the Google Apps from the system and replaced them as user apps so that I could greenify them. After that I lost the clear all button. Now using this module I have the clear all button and it's customizable.

I have a non rooted stock nexus 6P android 7.0 with standard bootloader. Something is kepping the phone alive so I wanted to start up in recovery and clear system cache. But when I try to open recovey I get the android logo laying down with the text under it no command. For the rest it won't do anything for 2 minutes and then it just start up normal. I have no bootloop, because it start up well. I just can"t reach the recovery menu to clear system cache. I might look into how you do a clean install of 7.0. I just have the phone for a week. And it was doing well. But sunce today something prevents the system to go into sleep mode.
I did some other research. To get into recovery I needed OEM Unlock turned on or have USB debugging enabled in developer options. I can go into recovery now. Cleared system cache. Hopefully my wake lock disappears. Don't want to root the phone. Because I want to keep warranty. My note 4 broke down with knoxx tripped and didn't got warranty when my motherboard broke down

When you get the No Command screen, press the power button immediately press the volume down button. It's tricky, but that will put you into the standard recovery.
