Newbie question
So I am currently on Alliance Rom build 2 for the NE9 firmware. I want to use the patch to try out MOAR Rom. Quick question though, do I have to download the actual sprint firmware or just download the Rom and the patch then install via safestrap?

@evilryry tried a fresh download and same updater binary error on rom install. Idk what's wrong..only other idea I have is I'm running an older twrp recovery is the only idea I have from two months ago or so..was thinking of upgrading but figured why fix what's not broken lol

Gps
Hello my friend, great job, But, GPS dont work?

kernal
What do we do for the kernal when we find a rom we want thats the only thing that I'm worried about?

I run ktoonez kernels work great

not what I mean
If we are stuck on Verizon s5 locked bootloader we would need a stock to kernal to run a sprint rom

You also wouldnt be able to run any roms with an aroma installer

[Q] Need help rooting galaxy s4 with VPUAM9F build.

Hi everyone, I'm new to android and having problems rooting my Sprint S4. I tried to root using ODIN but apparently Sprints newest update has made it impossible to root. My phone was believed to be rooted but the supersu app say that there is currently no binary installed. When I try to update the binary it just fails. I don't know where to go from here. I was going to flash the stock firmware but I cant find one for this build. All help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Just used ODIN to flash my Retail Note 3 to MJE, using the Full Stock firmware in the OP.
If I flash it to the Full Stock NC4 and am not happy, can I again re-flash back to MJE?
Thanks.

My phone is unrooted and seems to be working fine now. I did it through the app itself then checked with a root checker. After this once I restarted my phone it still shows the custom unlock sign on the samsung screen. Binary count is 0. Should I go into recovery and reboot or wipe phone to start fresh? What will get rid of that custom unlock?

how to flash this rom
i'm on 4.4.2 kitkat official firmware so do I have to downgrade it to thiland based 4.3 firmware and flash it via cwm recovery or I can straight away install cwm in my 4.4.2 rom and flash this rom ...so how do I flash it i'm in a dilemma
I never flashed it over 4.4.2
But I doubt it will bootloop most probably.
Downgrad to g4 thailand 4.3 build and then try.
I prefer that because its absolutly safe ??
let's give it a try
i'll give it try though... if it doesn't work then i'll downgrade it to JB ...maybe it might work

You won't be able to flash E2 ROM (jellybean) via Odin after downgrading from KK.. The only Odin flashable jellybean ROM is G4 Thailand stock jb ROM..
Balliboxer the dev made Odin flashable custom ROM on base e2.
Which we cud not flash via Odin after downgrading.
ie Odin fails to flash.
Then I made a recovery flashable zip out of balliboxer's e2 custom ROM.
Hope you got my point.

Ok I got it now... It is definitely an appreciable part of work from your side... One thing more I would ask I am on one of the older builds of indian jellybean firmware... i.e NB3 and i haven't updated ever since... Now i want to upgrade it to last build released by samsung e2...N i thought this rom was a good option... Now coming to the point... Could you please tell me is dere any difference of flashing the odin flashable file and your recovery flashable zip... Coz i found is just easy to flash than flashing via odin... I am just a lazy one...

Go to apkmirror.com and find the Facebook apps versions. Pick the version 26 for 4.0+, not the one for 5.0+. The 4.0+ one works fine for me for the past couple of days.

You can revert to Kitkat, but that will require flashing the Kitkat bootloader after flashing a Kitkat official ROM. check the General Thread for steps.
Xposed doesn't work on Lollipop because of ART runtime. So, no.

Well, yes until xposed Devs upgrade it for ART. So long as you don't root, you can always check for updates and receive OTA updates when official full version is released for it. If not, whenever it's released, you can download and flash the new official version that comes after backing up your important stuff.
Hope I answered your questions well.

Yes, I just updated to stock LP 5.0 via odin and then rooted and flashed custom recovery. I used the CF-auto-root (for G900R4) method on odin and flashed Philz 6.26.2 for custom recovery. Make sure under settings/security you have the "Reactivation Lock" box-unchecked.

It is safe and will root your phone with out issue. Of course you could always just go with the standard "flash recovery in Odin and flash Supersu in recovery". Simple.

Download the latest firmware for our devise. It is a tar.md5 file. Open Odin. Connect your phone. Place the .tar.md5 file in the PDA section. Click start. Done.
Assuming you have Odin and drivers installed correctly.

I'm very concerned about doing this because I read in another thread, same issue that happended to my phone it ended up getting stuck on the us cellular 4g LTE screen and wouldn't do anything... Unless you flash firmware that is not compatible with our devised and you're using the latest firmware for our devise, along with the correct version of Odin, you will have no issues.

Are the us cellular links for 5.0 android correct?
Samsung doesn't have an unlocker but seemed to have the rest
Im a newb but from what i noticed upon writing all my phone info down, and correct me if im wrong but it looks to be that if you know your boot loader snd region of world the phone is from you can figure out that Your PdA is exactly the same az your bootloader and
The CSC is identical to pda EXCEPT for the 3 letters after G900R4 _ _ _
Those are your Country of origin or region
I lost my root. Tried using Mobile Odin and checked the everroot. But apparently it did not work. My problem is I want to go back to 4.4.2 stock firmware and I do not have a pc or mac at the moment. Can I use the stock 5.0 recovery to flash back to 4.4.2?
Mine may not be 100% on the authentic side. I just learned that the person who gave it to me got it from a rep at a t-mobile store because an anon customer had left it at the store stating that it had been reported stolen.. and it needs to be unlocked from Us Cellular

Great Post
Hello,
Id like to give a big thank you to all the developers/contributors that put together the rooting instructions in the developer section
A few days ago i successfully rooted my smg900r4!
it was very simple, and quick process using the instructions in the developer thread.
Using cf auto, super su, and odin. And Kies as backup
I will notate i had a little hiccup in the process.
It was a file type conflict regarding the samsung usb driver download zip being set to open in windows 8 and the desktop i used that was running windows 10.
Once i realized what the issue was a coulple setting adjustmemts later and i was done!
And as stated its rock solid stable
I am on stock rom etc.
I have installed the following apps and granted root access to them
- Apps2Sd (this is a very excellent multi function application !
- Busybox on rails
- App Manager iii (i had this installed prior to rooting the device.)
- Wifi Connection Manager
Couple questions;
Since ive installed the multi function Apps2SD application, is it redundant to keep app manager iii installed?
Are the hidden menus and settings only accessible by using the shortcut app found in playstore?
