Hi everyone, I'm new to android and having problems rooting my Sprint S4. I tried to root using ODIN but apparently Sprints newest update has made it impossible to root. My phone was believed to be rooted but the supersu app say that there is currently no binary installed. When I try to update the binary it just fails. I don't know where to go from here. I was going to flash the stock firmware but I cant find one for this build. All help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

No, you do flash an insecure kernel (ex. Chainfire's) and then you start the phone and open SuperOneClick (download in forum) and press Root. Then you can flash back the original kernel.
As said in dev section Chainfires root kernel.
Flash Chainfires kernel
Use super one click to root as instructed .
Flash kernel only latest firmware .

Question
Hey guyz I have a question and I'm not sure if it's related to this thread but I'd appreciate it if anyone can help me. I just bought a new SGS 2 and I was suspicious that it's a used/referb one, the seller told me it's new. but then again after i got home, I installed root checker and found out that busybox is already installed. can anyone confirm that SGS 2 comes with busybox installed or not?
thanks alot.
Only if rooted not from Samsung stock firmware.

Thank you. I knew there must be something wrong with it. I hope I can get a refund.
So I updated my phone yesterday, hoped for some miracle update, then I decided today to install GE-rom. But it is no longer rootable, it pushes the files through adb, then the rooting process fails. So I think it's the same like AT&T? anyone can confirm it? Thanks
Well at least we got app2sd
Have you tried any other processes?
I lost audio when I flashed my modem via mobile Odin yesterday. Had to Odin back to stock Rogers. Did the OTA. Flashed twrp, booted into recovery and flashed supersu zip. Had root on boot. I tried it out quickly before switching back to carbon. The new 4.3 build may not support the current root process, not sure, but there are 4.3 builds that are pre-rooted

it works try another procedure.
Hi all, I am fairly new to this whole rooting process for android devices, since i have just recently purchased a galaxy s4 from at&t. Just a few days ago, i've decided to root my device, and after hours of researching i came across geohot's towelroot program and successfully rooted my GS4!. Now i want to install a custom rom, and i would like to know what kind of custom recovery can i use? and am i able to install the cyanogenmod 11? I have downloaded the cyanogenmod installer and it says my device is not supported, but i read on their wiki that i can install it manually but i don't know if my current build is supported by Clockworkmod, or even TWRP for that matter. I havn't flashed any roms by the way and i don't plan on doing so until i am almost certain that i can flash it without bricking.
I am running kitkat 4.4.2 Samsung SGH-I337, my baseband/build number is I337UCUFNC1
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!
We have a locked bootloader. So, stock kernel and recovery cannot be replaced. The only recovery we have is safestrap.

Ahh that sucks thanks for the info. Hopefully they will find a way to unlock it in the future so I can install the cyanogenmod.

I got my brand new S5 already with the NI2 update installed. I've been reading a few of the threads and I have to be missing something painfully obvious here, so please excuse my ignorance if I am.
Am I correct in assuming that because I already have the NI2 OTA update installed I can not root my S5? I'm not looking to install CFW or a custom recovery... just simply root.
Thanks.
Read and Follow the instructions in this guide.

Please excuse these (probably) common questions. I have a rooted SGH-I337 running NC1 firmware, currently with Safestrap installed (stock otherwise). I'm interested in unlocking the bootloader if a method has been developed yet for this firmware.
If not, how can I install OTA updates? I don't need an in-depth explanation if there's already a thread on this -- just a link will do. My searches weren't coming up with anything definitive.
Finally, has anyone been able to install Lollipop from this setup? If so, a link would be awesome.
Thanks everyone, and my apologies for the ridiculous questions that I am sure are common around here.

Yes, they are common. You can not unlock the bootloader. If and when an ota comes out you're most likely going to have to flash the nb1 tar file and return to stock before the ota will work. Lollipop is not out for the i337 yet. They're are some custom Roms but they don't work in safestrap.
