Container ship delays - Nexus 6 General

Big story on NBC Nightly News tonight about 13 container ships unable to unload at west coast ports due to job actions by dock workers. I wonder if all the Nexus 6's we were hoping for are on one of those ships.
http://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/thirteen-ships-wait-get-la-port-complex-n249051

Well I would not be surprised the way this 'mission impossible' getting a Nexus6 has been going...

From my understanding, it's not just due to dock workers, but also because there was 1 or 2 ships, couple weeks ago, that had multiple containers cause a tipover, and that also led to delays in the San Pedro docks. Also, there seems to be just not enough bigrig drivers to keep up with the increase in arrivals because of the holiday season.
I'm not sure if Nexus 6's are using these ports though. But I'm anxious about it because i live in LA, so if some of them are being shipped through there, i would have to wait longer as I'm waiting on my 32gb white. But i doubt it.
---------- Post added at 05:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:13 PM ----------
Also,a lot of these ships that are arriving, are bigger than the docks can handle, from what my friend has told me, since they work there.

I'm pretty sure they do not ship phones by container ship. (the irony)

Second this. Every item I've ordered like this has essentially been overnight or 2 day delivery straight from the manufacturer in Asia. Container ships would take weeks.

Yeah phones are pretty small, I don't think they're sending entire containers of them at once.

I wanted one of these when they first came out. Beautiful tablet screen wise but no USB port was a deal breaker.

That's not a bad price but i'm going to wait for the Amazon tablet.
Holy cow what a deal! I'm still trying to convince myself that I would actually use a tablet.
Did anyone order this galaxy tab 10.1? I ordered on the 14th and it still hasn't been shipped.

I ordered one around 1am est the day of the sale and still no shipment. I hear this company can take up to 2 weeks to ship out a product. From what i hear the company takes orders first. Then they order the stock for the number of orders they had. It seems like they dont have the product on hand before they sell it which is a really bad practice. You cant really short sell in the retail industry.
If i dont get a shipping notofication by Wens i will be calling them. Ill update this thread if my Tab 10.1 ships.
I ordered one as well and no shipping information. Waiting till end of week before I contact them. Although they did charge my paypal account fast!

Yea that is kinda what pisses me off about this company. You are quick to take my money but you aren't quick to send the product. That to me is just foul. I already sent them an email asking about my purchase. I don't even know if i'm gonna get a cancelation because they are out of stock.
Aight. Let us know if you get a response.
In their defense they have a policy to ship within 6 business days. After today 9/20 its only been 4 business days. Which is why im gonna call on Fri if they dont ship.
On the BBB there arent too many complaints. Woot actually has a lower business rating than dailysteals. And ive yet to have a problem with woot. So idk
I get how slow shipment times can piss someone off. Im spoiled and have amazon prime so im used to recieving things a day after ordering
crossing my fingers
Sadly I didn't read that before i bought it. If i had i would've just bought one on ebay. I'm not too concerned with waiting but i'm more fearful of an email 6 days later saying oops we were out of stock when you ordered. That will piss me off to no end.

Well i bought it because the price was good. The wait isnt bad as long as it ships this week.
However in my excitement i went over to the tab 10.1 forum and i noticed that the 10.1 has a high percentage of users reporting newton rings. So now im a bit upset, with my luck the tab i get will have this problem.
I love my galaxy tab 7 i hope ill love this 10.1
really very cheap
Hi, new member today! I'm in the same boat in regards to patiently waiting for my 10.1 to ship from Daily Steals. When I ordered it, I completely missed the part where it said, "up to 6 business days before it ships". I had a refurb 32gb on order from Fry's but cancelled it when I saw this one.
I've called, emailed and chatted with Daily Steals and I've gotten the same canned response. As I explained to them, I can understand waiting 1-2 weeks for a $10 or $20 item but to go 5 or 6 days with no updates on a $350 tablet is inexcusable.
The other thing that would be helpful, is having a message board on their site like WOOT. This would alleviate a lot of anxiety when waiting.
---------- Post added at 10:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 AM ----------
Update. Live Chat is a complete waste of time with Daily Steals. The only thing they could/would tell me is that it would ship within a day or two.
Beach Camera via eBay had them for $299 this morning. Lasted only about an hour. Sold out fast........

I 100% agree. I would be ok if they were actually going to send me the tab lol. I'm expecting another Touchpad incident where i bought one and like 4 days later they send me a cancelation. Which made it much harder for me to buy one any place else. I've seen the Gtab 10.1 on ebay for 350 plenty of times so the deal wasn't amazing but it was something i didn't have to wait for.... So i believed lol.

I pretty much got the same thing. Hopefully there'll be some movement tomorrow.

Let's bet on when the TF2 will be released

I'm taking bets on when the TF2 will be released. Those who win will each get $1000 in MM.
November 2011. They haven't said or done anything to dissuade me from believing that..Oh and they aren't Motorola. Asus released the TF when they said they would, and they tend to do that with all their other products.
Last week of November... Cyber Monday!!!
or
First Week of December.
Based on TF1 experience, they'll let the internet build it up for at least a month before making us hunt for it for days.
I will take a guess:
It's either intil the end of this year or in 2012, one of this two. try and beat me up.
What qualifies as released?
(1) Google (or other) gets a couple thousand to give away at conferences.
(2) Two or three countries get samples to sell.
(3) One or two suppliers get stock, most common retail/internet stores not.
(4) Availability in EU, Japan, USA like most ASUS store stuff (sorry ROW).
(5) Common availability on internet.
(6) Common availability in retail stores.
(7) Millions available worldwide.
(8) Other suggestions ??

I voted January because I think it is no longer easy to feed the supply chain with new toys. The competition is hot, and ASUS will trip this delivery. Just my opinion.
But, I hope you are right.

Release means you can go out and buy it (if it's in stock....which it won't be). Otherwise, the 'general public' still has no way to get it. Atleast, that's my take on released.
Announcing it on the otherhand, is a different story. They've been announcing the thing for MONTHS now...
I'm just curious. How did this thread offend someone to get 1 star?

HTC One X - $588.50 shipped / Negri Electronics

Once you'ved added the HTC One X in your cart, there is a $87 discount that is automatically applied. Total cost comes out to be $588.50 usd. This is by far the cheapest I've seen the One X go for.
Possibly an Easter weekend sale? I cleared my cart and added numerous other devices and a discount was applied. The amount of discount varies between each device.
That's an amazing price.
Coupon Not Valid
The Auto-coupon for this weekend is not valid on the HTC One Series. We have disabled the coupon and are correcting this issue this morning. All HTC One Series that were ordered with this discount have been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will have the discounts corrected and uploaded in the next 3-4 hours. I'll bet if you were one of the people that ordered one you'd be thinking a lot differently. I would expect the same from any other company, you list a price, you sell it for that price. If it's a mistake then it's your mistake and responsibility to fulfill the orders placed at that price.-
A honest mistake? No.
Even when updating their store database and pricing discounts... you have type in the discount or select it... then you have to accept or save. Some one was incompetent. A honest mistake would have been corrected before they saved the update on pricing.
Give me a break, people. A business is not required to honor a price mistake, plain and simple. You received an apology and entitled to nothing more. Stop whining already.
It's not whining. It's calling them out and stating how they should run their business. Lol.
Indeed they aren't required to honor a price mistake.
But the main reason I haven't bought from them so far is precisely because I've read similar stories over the web because many times they won't honor prices, coupons, pre-order prices or some "in stock" items not really being in stock after ordering.
Additionally they won't fix wrong and misleading information even if you report it, for example check their Optimus 2X P990H product page and you'll see that they are showing instead pictures of the slimmer Optimus Black P970H... even though I personally reported the mistake by chat months ago...

Reply?
Honestly didn't expect to have this type of response. You seem to have an issue with the way we handled this, however we are very transparent with our actions. Due to limited stock and the extremely high cost the coupon was to be excluding the newly released HTC One X. However, the coupon was set up incorrectly. Unlike other companies we came here to admit our mistake and alert you of the issue. We could have simply told you they where out of stock, and "thanks for trying", but we felt being honest and up front would be the proper way to go.
In writing the initial post we would have never thought to be called profanities and honestly never intended to anger anyone to the point of not returning to shop with us. We could choose to be like all the other companies you would rather by from, but we aren't. When we make a mistake we admit it. And our mistake was not caught by the "traffic spike" that XDA sent us, as there was none. Your post reached 2 people before we were able to alert the others. As you can see in your replies it's the same ex-customers calling the names.
There is one thing that some one should explain to you; and it will make you a better person. The companies that you speak to this way, are ran by real people just like you. Each person has a personality, feelings, and cares for you as a customer. Simply because you feel protected by your computer screen doesn't give you the right to call someone profane names and treat (whether a company or employee) Us with disrespect. There are companies out there that will do anything you want, and you can treat them however you please. This isn't one. Respect is something that is earned, not given.
There is one thing to be upset, it's another to insult someone here to update you on the situation. We understand you are angry and will not shop with us again, but others will, and be happy they received the same service you decided never to experience again.
Enjoy your holiday weekend.

Your money is held by Google Checkout for a period of 7 days. For instance, someone placed an order today at 7:54 amand their order reads Expires Apr 14, 2012 7:54:58 AM PDT. Sorry for the issue. We did not intend for it to malfunction. We will be careful in every sale we give now; which will limit the amount of sales offered.

Handtech may tolerate you speaking to them this way. Our previous post addresses your concern regarding the authorization which was taken by Google Checkout. Stock is still available and you are able to purchase still at a better price than the competition, with free shipping and no import/duties tax. I assure you, like any other company you have or will ever shop at, they will all make mistakes.

What's wrong with Tweakers?
I don't visit their often, because I don't speak Dutch that well.

I wouldn't mind the 32gb version, owned a 64 gb htc and I never really used the extra space, don't really store a lot of pictures/music on my phone...
but my LG G3 screen just broke and it hurts to wait that long... if that's just the pre order then shipping will be at least a week later
I just hope it get released (in NLD) through Google Play, but the feeling I got after the way US got treated on the pre-orders we're pretty much screwed. Seems that on previous devices the Play Store price was (slightly) lower than with 3rd party retailers.
All I need is a confirmed date and price, so I can decide to wait for it or move on. My S3 is slowly losing it so I want to replace it in the next 2-3 months.
If it gets a release / pre-order for €565 for 32GB, then I'm buying. Midnight Blue!
32GB will be enough for me, I got the same amount on my S3 at the moment. If I need more storage, there's Drive, Dropbox, etc.
And yes, Tweakers can get a bit "formal" at times
The Nexus 9 is now available for pre-order in the NL store. I don't think I've seen a Nexus device of any sort so soon appear. Gives me a slight bit of hope at least for the appearance of the Nexus 6.

Interesting story there. Here, the stores always refer to the manufacture's warranty and leave it up to the brand to fix or replace it. That's pretty good customer service, for Europe at least.
Retailers are obligated to handle warranty issues in the Netherlands, not the manufacturer.
Also a 2-year warranty period is issued to consumer electronics.
Based on the last few years, I think the retailers here are always late, compare to UK or Germany. But, probably that's how it works on this kind of industry, I don't know why. I bet the retailer in Germany would get it sooner.
But, checking the Nexus 9 on the Play Store The Netherlands, it is THERE available, leaving warehouse in just 1 - 2 days. And the Nexus 9 is officially on sale starting today. Thus, Play Store is not late!
I hope, this would be the same with Nexus 6. If any indication, it could be November 12, as said by T-Mobile U.S. And heard the "full review embargo" would be lifted that day as well.
We can only hope, can't we?

yes we kunnen sure hopen!
And if we do get forgotten on the N6...
This Moto might be released here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/...-variant-for-non-us-markets-spotted-on-google
But I counting on the N6 being released here. Coolblue also has the N6 set for pre-orders starting from 18-10.
They provide the option of email notification when it can be ordered.
If we could only get conformation of the price tag...

Wait, if something goes wrong with a device and it needs to be serviced or possibly replaced, what does the retailer have to do with it beyond the return date? Or, can you really bring the device in to the retailer and have them arrange service?

Yes.
According to Dutch consumer laws the retailer is obliged to extend warranty services during two years.
Either they get it fixed or replaced, that is up to retailer.
Of course, if the defect isn't covered by warranty costs may apply.

Likely going to order. Should I go with BH or Amazon?

I'm probably going to order the unlocked v20 this weekend and was wondering which would be better to order from.
BH charges no sales tax or shipping and they have an open box for $100 cheaper.
Amazon same price but must pay sales tax.
Plus BH has free charger, headphones and tablet too.
Is BH easy to deal with if I have to return this like something was broke on it or is Amazon better?

BH is great: can't go wrong with either.

I think I would go with Amazon, they have a more liberal return system if you have an issue. In other words you'll get an immediate refund once a tracking number is created when you send it back. Just opt for Amazon itself and not a third party Amazon seller if you can.

I think you're right. So B&H is a bit more tough on return policy? Like if it was damaged in shipping I would assume amazon easier to deal with.

Either is fine - its splitting hairs I think.
BTW, did you look at the Pixel XL? Why the V20? I'm thinking I shouldve went with the Pixel...The V20 is a good unit, I'm just not 100% happy with it and I'm out of the buyer's remorse window timeframe to trade it out.
I'm coming from a Note 7.

If you're going with the Pixel IMO go for the S7 edge.
Now if the 128 GB pixel XL was $710 I would say jump on it because latest android and AMOLED screen. However with no removable storage or always on display I wouldn't pay 869 for it when a year from now you will be bored with it.

Nah man, I have the V20...and I dont really use price as a factor, since I do the installment plan thing. All the top tier phones are 800-ish. Think of it this way - It's something you'll be using EVERY DAY, many times per day...so I don't really use price as a factor in making the choice - I just want to be happy with whatever I get it.

Pixel is a great phone it's not bad. It works great for the features it has like software screen and camera, and has IP54 at least, but for that kind of cash it doesn't have enough features. For cheaper you can get the S7 edge and wait for 7.0 to launch.
I think the V20 is a good large screen phone to last until next Sept or Aug for the Note 8. Rumor has it the headphone jack will be missing from the S8 Edge and SD card possibly which is DUMB and would really do damage to Samsung if they take the SD card away. If they did that people would just go to Pixel instead of giving Samsung a second change since there wouldn't be much of a difference then.
It appears I'll save 66 bucks if I buy from B & H.
What is Amazon's return, exchange policy for Christmas season on phones?
I think BH might be the better one to order from. According to Amazon you only have 10 days to return a defective device for a replacement an no more refunds for phones. That's really rotten.

Yeah BH return policy for purchases is February 1 for purchases made during holiday season: long enough to make a decision on whether the phone is for you!

That policy is not in effect in US. I have returned a few electronics in the past few months as recently as last week. It was a chrome book. Full refund.

You're right after I looked at it more. Either way I'd get my money back but with Amazon you get it back faster and probably less bs.
I've made returns to BH with no bs and refunds only took about 2 days more. But do what is comfortable: I get the best of both worlds with Amazon and BH since I live in CT with free next day delivery with BH.

That's not correct, perhaps with phones but I can tell you I ordered an Asus 7 inch tablet on Amazon and wasn't thrilled with picture quality. On exactly the 29th day I submitted it for return online, printed the label and walked it down to an official UPS store. they scanned the label and I immediately received a refund alert on the app. No questions asked. This was less than a month ago.

I would never hold off on a purchase or make a "in the meantime" purchase in expectation of a new Samsung offering. They got rid of removable battery and SD card with almost no one expecting it until launch day. And after the Note 7 disaster I will never make a phone with a non-removable battery a first choice. I depend on my phone for work and have very important family business that need to be handled on the phone. I travel several times a month on average and the idea that I would not be allowed to board a plane with my specific model of phone or that I had to go through the hassle of reinstalling all of my software, some of which would be a royalllllll painnnnn in some cases where I must use Ethernet authentication and the equipment is out of state....well no more Samsung/fixed battery phone for me.

I agree. This Note fiasco wouldn't have happened if there was removable battery. They could have simply made a slightly smaller battery and sent them to stores or ship them to us since it's said the compartment for the battery was a bit small.
Would be funny if the iPhone 7 had a massive battery problem and they had to recall them all and it got to the point the device would be killed this year. Apple would have no device to fall back on like Samsung did.

I made this very point when discussing Apple stock. Apple share price relies 50% on a single model of one product. No other company with a valuation that high, as far as I know, is carrying that much risk should that one product have a massive recall. However, in Samsung's case it seems that Samsung decided to do all its quality control in-house for the first time to cut costs. If An outside testing agency had caught this exploding battery in time it would have paid for itself 10xs over. I guess when Apple mark up their phones so high above the actual cost to build they have plenty of our money to spend on their quality control.
