very weak vibrate for Galaxy Note 4? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using the Galaxy Note 4 for 2 weeks now and have noticed how weak the vibrate is on this phone. I miss calls and notifications when it's in my pocket. Even if the phone is on my desk, I am barely able to know that I'm getting a phone call or a notification. The vibrate intensity is at the max and the pattern I selected is the zig-zig-zig.
I do have a slim case on it but noticed no difference whether the phone had the case on or not.
Anyone else notice the same or is my device somehow defective?

I noticed this two. Vibration is not as strong as my Note 2.

As indicated in my post, the vibration intensity is already set to the max.

Yeah, the vibration is pretty wimpy unfortunately. If you raised the intensity I think that's all you can do.

I've not had a phone that can vibrate strong enough to alert me in over a decade. Now I have a pebble and don't worry about it.

I was just noticing that today. I have the vibration intensity turned all the way up, and it's pretty weak. My S3 was pretty good with vibration. Haptic feedback pretty much sucks as well.

Turn off Gmail vibration when I receive a new email...

I'm trying to turn off the vibration when I get a new email like I have on my Evo LTE. I don't want the phone to vibrate when I have to receive an email even if the phone is on vibrate. I don't need to be notified of the emails however when I happen to look at my phone I still want to see the icon at the top of the screen letting me know i have new emails... Is this possible? I didn't have the GS3 or any Samsung phone prior to this one so it may be a common answer to others just not me...
-I have already unchecked the Vibrate box and Notify for every message box within Gmail itself from my phone.
-It's not in Driving mode like some have stated while trying to look this up online
-I've tried to set the ring tone to silent but that didn't work
Does anyone know to accomplish this? Thanks in advance

On my GS3, in gmail settings (account not general), I have Notifications ticked, then in Inbox Sound and Vibrate I have Vibrate unticked, Sound=silent and Label Notifications ticked.
Phone doesn't ring or vibrate when an email arrives and I get an envelope icon in the notification bar

Yeah I have the same thing and my GS4 still vibrates when I have my phone on vibrate while I'm at work... I have the same set up on my Evo and it doesn't do it there however it does for whatever reason on this phone.

Glad I am not the only one struggling. Gmail needs an update maybe? I just killed sound and vibrate.

Mine finally started working for whatever reason... I had the same information that EJ stated above but it wasn't working however it is now. Don't know what changed but it is working... Make sure in the Gmail app that the sound in there is set to silent... On my Evo LTE, there is a sound there (notice) but it never goes off so who knows

didn't have this problem for about a week, but it started up in the last couple days. nothing in my setup has changed! any thoughts?
bump. this is driving me nuts, like a steering wheel in my pants.
better late than never I guess... I think I found a solution to this!
It's been driving me nuts on my Galaxy s5 and have spent the past few hours trying to get this fixed.
The solution I came up with is the following:
Set Gmail to silent and uncheck vibrate. Leave notifications on still just silent.
Download and use the light flow app to set up notifications for gmail.
Go into light flow and edit the notifications for gmail.
Enable sound and select the sound you would like to play.
Enable vibration as well.
Set the vibration pattern to 1 short vibration. This will change the vibration to a little quick chirp for an email. Much more tolerable.
OR you can do a custom vibration pattern and set the pattern to 0,0 to have no vibration at all.
Make sure to leave both the boxes "Vibrate only when silent" and "Don't vibrate when silent" both checked.
The vibrate only when silent stops any vibration when the volume is on. And I dont know if my logic is right on this but I think the "Don't vibrate when silent" acts to stop the phone from using it's normal vibration method and uses lightflow instead. Because even with this checked you will get whatever vibration you have chosen instead of what the phone typically uses.
Follow those steps and set those options and you should be good.... Try it out!
This worked for me. Hopefully it'll help you guys out too!

Weak vibration motor

I compared with my Nexus 5, using SwiftKey.
I can feel the vibration at 5 ms vibration setting.
While on Nexus 6, I must set it to 20.
Weak....
not sure if troll or serious.
since i got the N6, i cant keep it on my desk at work cause it would eventualy be sickening loud.
I wish I could turn off the vibration, it's too strong on my N6.
The vibration motor seems strong for everything except Swiftkey. I keep playing with settings also and 20 does seem about right. But it's still weak and seems to not vibrate for every keypress.
Yes, this is the case. I am not trolling.
I think the vibration motor is not proportional.
It is very strong starting at 25 ms. But below that, it's really weak.
At first, I was thinking mine is broken, because I compare it to my Nexus 5, sensitive vibration.

Phone on mute put notification sound comes through

I'm new to Android so sorry if this sounds stupid. I've had my phone on mute all day. I have been getting text all day with no sound. All of a sudden. My notification sound goes of. Phone still says mute. Any reason this would do that? Do not disturb is not one right now but I do have it set to come on automatically everyday between 10p- 6am.

mine does it every so often and i have to reset it to loud then mute..
its super annoying -_-
Scared the crap out of me. I'm at work while it's all quiet and then a loud notification came through. I hope I'm just doing something wrong

My phone is still doing this. Anyone else experiencing this?

Same over here With DnD mode ON WhatsApp notifications still sound and vibrate.. I've checked under advanced notification menu and WhatsApp isn't set as a priority notification. So it shouldn't produce any sound or vibration.

Vibration in Galaxy S8 is too weak

Hi,
Do you feel the same as I, so the vibration in Galaxy S8 is too weak?
Is it a known issue? Is there any way to make it stronger?
I don't have any case, and the vibration is on max, and I have already played with the vibration patterns.
Thanks.
Is someone here has a similar problem?
If the phone is on something soft for example or in my pocket, I hardly ever feel it.
It's not weak. Have you turned up the vibration in setting.
I can even hear my phone vibrate when my friend is typing on it, and i'm like 1-2 meter away from it.

Of course it turned on. All are on max.
Only when it's on a hard surface I can feel/hear it.
Maybe I missing something or other setting, or there is actually a real problem?
I wouldn't call i weak , however my htc 10 was way better for vibration! It was almost too strong ha The s8 is weaker but not weak! My only issue with vibrate is that once you disable vibrate.... its disabled for ALL sound modes! So lets say i turn off vibrate but later i attend a meeting and i want to put my phone on silent but i want my phone to vibrate.... it wont and theres no way to adjust it for each different sound mode! In fact even if i select the sound mode "vibrate" it wont vibrate once you turn vibrate down/off then its off universally! This sucks as with EVERY phone i have ever owned it was always something you could adjust for each individual sound mode/profile!
But if the phone is placed on some papers you don't notice that something happened.
It wasn't like that with the previous devices.

I TOTALLY agree - vibration is WAY TOO WEAK. Rarely feel it when phone is in my pocket and the only time I do hear it is if it is on a hard surface. I wish there was a way to download an outside vibration. I hope someone can answer this.

I opened this issue when the phone was new, and the situation is pretty the same today.
As I said for notification that using vibration you almost don't notice it, only when there is a phone call, and also it's too weak. Only on hard surface you can notice it.

I know exactly what you mean, we all have the resonance sound from the vibration motor.
It was part of the reason why I chose to return my OnePlus 6 back in May, I couldn't get used to it.
Now I have a OnePlus 6T McLaren and although it has a bit less resonance sound than the old OnePlus 6, it's not perfect.
And I have compared with my friends who have a 6T, and they all sound the same.
Now you know
I think it all started with op5t. I switched from open back then... and noticed that nasty sound.
My gf keeps waking up when I try to type smthng in bed

If you are talking about the sound/vibration I think you are, it goes away when you turn off Touch Vibration in the Vibration section within the Sounds settings. Or is it something else you are referring to?
