I compared with my Nexus 5, using SwiftKey.
I can feel the vibration at 5 ms vibration setting.
While on Nexus 6, I must set it to 20.
Weak....
not sure if troll or serious.
since i got the N6, i cant keep it on my desk at work cause it would eventualy be sickening loud.
I wish I could turn off the vibration, it's too strong on my N6.
The vibration motor seems strong for everything except Swiftkey. I keep playing with settings also and 20 does seem about right. But it's still weak and seems to not vibrate for every keypress.
Yes, this is the case. I am not trolling.
I think the vibration motor is not proportional.
It is very strong starting at 25 ms. But below that, it's really weak.
At first, I was thinking mine is broken, because I compare it to my Nexus 5, sensitive vibration.

hello all
when i have the phone in my pocket i can never feel it vibrate. is there ANY way to make it a bit more powerful? me and my friend both have the same problem.
it means that at work im having to leave it on ring and its inappropriate.
thanks in advance
I believe the vibration occurs in the battery itself and not the phone.
You could try experimenting with something metal (like a thin washer) between the battery and the cover ?
No, the battery doesn't vibrate. The vibrator is built in the phone and it has its strength which cannot be changed, in my opinion. It's a simple electromechanical vibrating device, and the vibrating strenght is limited to the mechnical built.
But i wonder, because I would consider the vibrating as the best I ever had.

i know what u mean, all my old phones had a really strong vibrate but the x1 seems a bit weak, if im moving with it in my pocket i wont feel it
The vibrate is nothing more that a motor with a weight on the end. I think the only way to up it would be to increase the voltage to the motor, which isn't going to be an easy task.

Then it would vibrate faster, but not stronger. It could only vibrate stronger, if the mass or the distance to the pivot would be increased which is a mechanical problem.
What about slowing it down...this could be more noticeable than a vibration at a higher frequencie.

But this isn't how a motor works. It needs an amount of currency to get over the starting torque and therefore the rotary speed is fixed. If you cut the currency, the motor will not start.
As long as you can't change the motor you can't change how it vibrates.
Weak Vibrate
I have my phone on vibrate at work all the time.
I have the same problem and I've missed appointments, meetings, texts and emails because of this!
I decided to get myself a bluetooth watch to overcome this problem (topic below).

I noticed that upon the vibration being triggered on really short spurts (for example when typing) that occasionally a clicking noise is generated. This isn't from the speaker, it's definately a mechanical noise.
For reference, My EVO is less then 24 hours old.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks
I haven't heard any clicking and I've had mine for a week. I just tested it with typing and I don't hear any mechanical noise. Perhaps yours is defective?
The vibration on this phone is 100% more refined than the Hero's (in my opinion, lol). I turned off haptic feedback everywhere on my Hero because it was obnoxious and obtrusive. The haptic on the Evo seems smooth and intuitive. I prefer to use it on anything with the option.
I had it on a replacement vogue I got, it went away after awhile.
Take it into sprint and see if you can replace it.
My Nexus One use to do that. Did it from day one I had it since release date and still works fine.
I happened to notice this today myself but the noise eventually went away. I hope it doesn't become a big issue.
Yeah, I don't think it's necessarily a defect. Just when it gets triggered for such a short time-span that sometimes happens. Not that first phone I've noticed it on.

Does it still make the annoying clicking noise?

I was watching a podcast of the 404(cnet) and one of the hosts had something go wrong with his vibration on his evo....??
He said it will still vibrate like when calls came in, but for like the haptic feedback it didn't work.(yes he menitoned he had checked all the settings that were relative)
Dunno if this means anything to you but it could be more than a fluke problem. You never know...
I'm having this exact same problem on a nexus one...

After about two and a half weeks of ownership I started getting the click. It happens when the vibration is very short, maybe less than 1 second.
It isn't really obnoxious to me, but it is enough of a click that I notice it now.
Haven't noticed this ... yet ...
-_-

lol I thought I was the only one.
Curious, how loud? Would the key tone, god forbid that even be on, cover it up? Medium volume? (Is that loud??? I don't use the key tones ... )
Mine does the same thing. Clicks every other input. At the home screen I can press the back button over and over and every other time is clicks.. doesn't sound healthy. Its getting annoying when texting because every other letter feels differnt making some letters feel like there is no vibration....
THe more it does it, it's starting to feel like a rattle, like something is loose....
I used to have that w/ my first evo. Then i bought a second off the market and it didnt have the vibration problem. so i returned the first...
I have this issue, will sprint do an exchange because of this? I can replicateit by holding the backspace key on swype, its a loud annoying clicking
Edit: I upgraded to the new swype and thenoise is gone
I have this same clicking sound, doesn't seem to bother me though!
yup, mine will occasionally do it too. It almost sounds like there is slack in there and whenever it starts up it slaps against something. Mine doesn't seem to be getting worse so I'm not to worried about it but I definitely notice it when it does happen.

Sounds about right to me it don't happen all the time so I just assumed it worked similar to a ps3 controller? Prob not but I have noticed but not been bothered by this
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
im wondering if maybe this is only my device. i am coming from a hd2 where when typing the haptic feedback was fairly high and noticeable. now when i type on the evo the haptic feedback or the vibration it gives off when typing is very low. to a point where some times it feels as if there is no vibration at at. the settings are set for it to work but still if feels faint. any ideas?
I've noticed this too... Sometimes I dont feel any vibration, i just hear a rattling from the phone... Not sure if this is a defect
No it's pretty mild for me too. Seems stronger when the phone rings though
anybody know if theres a way to increase it a bit. personally i like the feedback it gives off when typing
I noticed this as well. My friend has an Incredible and the haptic feedback is much stronger.
I just replaced my 002 evo with an 003 and I must say the haptic is completely wack on the new device. There are times where it just clicks and barely gives it any feedback. I'm hoping it will loosen up and start working better over time. Sigh.
Hi,
Do you feel the same as I, so the vibration in Galaxy S8 is too weak?
Is it a known issue? Is there any way to make it stronger?
I don't have any case, and the vibration is on max, and I have already played with the vibration patterns.
Thanks.
Is someone here has a similar problem?
If the phone is on something soft for example or in my pocket, I hardly ever feel it.
It's not weak. Have you turned up the vibration in setting.
I can even hear my phone vibrate when my friend is typing on it, and i'm like 1-2 meter away from it.

Of course it turned on. All are on max.
Only when it's on a hard surface I can feel/hear it.
Maybe I missing something or other setting, or there is actually a real problem?
I wouldn't call i weak , however my htc 10 was way better for vibration! It was almost too strong ha The s8 is weaker but not weak! My only issue with vibrate is that once you disable vibrate.... its disabled for ALL sound modes! So lets say i turn off vibrate but later i attend a meeting and i want to put my phone on silent but i want my phone to vibrate.... it wont and theres no way to adjust it for each different sound mode! In fact even if i select the sound mode "vibrate" it wont vibrate once you turn vibrate down/off then its off universally! This sucks as with EVERY phone i have ever owned it was always something you could adjust for each individual sound mode/profile!
But if the phone is placed on some papers you don't notice that something happened.
It wasn't like that with the previous devices.

I TOTALLY agree - vibration is WAY TOO WEAK. Rarely feel it when phone is in my pocket and the only time I do hear it is if it is on a hard surface. I wish there was a way to download an outside vibration. I hope someone can answer this.

I opened this issue when the phone was new, and the situation is pretty the same today.
As I said for notification that using vibration you almost don't notice it, only when there is a phone call, and also it's too weak. Only on hard surface you can notice it.
hi all. I ask you a question, I wanted to know if you too the vibration of haptic feedback has a resonance noise

I know exactly what you mean, we all have the resonance sound from the vibration motor.
It was part of the reason why I chose to return my OnePlus 6 back in May, I couldn't get used to it.
Now I have a OnePlus 6T McLaren and although it has a bit less resonance sound than the old OnePlus 6, it's not perfect.
And I have compared with my friends who have a 6T, and they all sound the same.
Now you know
I think it all started with op5t. I switched from open back then... and noticed that nasty sound.
My gf keeps waking up when I try to type smthng in bed

If you are talking about the sound/vibration I think you are, it goes away when you turn off Touch Vibration in the Vibration section within the Sounds settings. Or is it something else you are referring to?
