[Q] how to update rom using clockwork or rom manager?

hey guys i'am currently using hyperdroid cm7v1.0.2 on hd2.every time there's a new version of this rom,i'am doing a clean install i.e from task29 which erases all my
data.can anyone tell me how to update the rom using the cwm or rom manager without a clean install.
p.s: and one more thing is,will updating removes my old version? or will it be installed on the extra space?
select install zip from card, find the zip file and install it
thankyou...!very much richy99...and what a coincidence..we both have the same name!
You do know you don't have to Task29 for every install? If you're using the same Rom just updating, just flash it. Unless the dev says otherwise. If you're installing a different ROM just wipe data and flash the new ROM.

When I go through ROM manager and download SONOFSKYWALKER3, where do I go from there to install the rom? I couldn't find it on my SD so not sure when I go through recovery mode.
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!

Jellybean rom and gapps can't be found on Xoom recovery

Hi everyone, I know this is on some thread around here already but I'm kinda new here so,
I tried to flash team EOS jb rom + gapps on my Xoom and they weren't found ..
A message appeared saying , error mounting SD card or backup/path not found or something.
My xoom is rooted with stock rom ics, 4.0.4 and at first I tried flashing using rom manager , and no success..the n manually ..the same.
I can't backup current rom neither flash a new one.. I read about reflashing cwm , and I kinda got lost in there..
I moved the .zip files into the internal memory of the Xoom and the same...I got into recovery mode manually and I followed the procedure and again...no .zip
Files found not even on the internal memory.. as I said I tried mounting SD card, mount system and nothing...same error appeared..
So , I really appreciate any advice or tip or whatever helpful... thanks in advanced and sorry for asking something that many already know..have a good day !!

Which recovery are you using ?
Can you still access external sd from recovery?
Sent from my MZ601 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, sounds like you're not using CWM recovery.
Follow the steps to install this, and flash via CWM.
I can't access SD card via recovery , it says error: backup path not found.. and error mounting SD card.
But I can access my external SD card using any file explorer , It appears normally .
Idk but , so when I rooted my Xoom I remember have flashed cwm via adb , cause I had to connect my Xoom to the PC and I remember a .zip file called something cwm , and tiamat ....so , should I go again and reflash cwm zip , and if so , which one should I flash again? cause my Xoom is already rooted and unlocked, wouldn't that damage the system?

You won't loose root. You are using the same fast boot commands to unlock your boot loader and install this recovery IMG...
Then this new recovery, flash eos ROM which is per rooted already...

Thanks Dude. As I told you earlier, I received the notification about the update but it was installed and it sent me to recovery mode saying : installation aborted...thanks I'm gonna flash the cwm img..

2 Serious problems

I have been a Samsung Galaxy Y user for more than a year. I have to say that this device is awesome. But.... I have later noticed 2 problems.
1) One day I tried to install Elegance ROM. I followed all steps very carefully and when the installation was done, I rebooted my phone. Unfortunately, my phone booted up again at Samsung stock firmware. I tried to enter recovery mode because I wanted to see what went wrong, but I was automatically redirected to CWM recovery. I tried once again to install Elegance ROM, and the result was the same. From that day, CWM is my default recovery. Why? How to fix this??? I can't access stock recovery and I also cannot install any custom ROMs. How to fix this?
2) Even my SD card is full with songs, photos and videos, the "Gallery" and "Music" apps don't read any file. Why? How to fix this?
P.S. I'm running stock 2.3.6 rooted.
Thanks for help.

You have a permanent cwm because you are using a custom kernel with a permanent cwm - probably was included in the rom zip
If you want stock recovery flash stock kernel (can be found in general section or flash hells fusion #50 from dev section and select option to flash stock kernel)
you would of remained on stock rom after flashing another rom because you didn't mount system in cwm before you flashed the zip
As for your other problem flash stock rom via odin as you have probably mucked something up from flashing zips incorrectly
So.... If I flash the stock kernel, will I be able to access stock recovery and flash CWM every time I want?
By the way, this mess with the files started when I changed my phone's SIM card. When I turned my ohine on again, I opened by mistake the "Galery" app. I noticed that no images were there. I also thought that the "music" might also had the same problem. And that's what happened. Which Odin version I will need?
Thanks again.

Yes stock kernel = stock recovery and you can flash a temporary cwm
there is no problems with a permanent cwm in custom kernels as you need cwm to flash roms
If you goto phone settings about phone it will show you your current baseband - for example mine is xxlf3
You can either download that stock rom firmware from dokys thread if there or any other from your country
Thanks everybody. You are all really helpful. I appreciate your help. But tell me, do I need to mount system before installing Elegance? And while I'm having a custom kernel installed, can I flash roms or I need the stock kernel?
Thanks again.

Follow instructions on the op of the rom you want to flash
you must always mount system before flashing a zip else nothing will happen - you can flash zips all day and no changes would happen as it can't write to system as it's not mount!
As a general rule
wipe system
wipe data
wipe cache
mount system
mount data
mount cache
flash zip
format data (not always required just for some roms)
restart
you do not need to go back to stock to change rom
There are guides in general section - please read them first then you would understand the process

A few months ago, I installed Creed 3.5 ROM. It was awesome. I want to install it again but tell me:
Can I install it while I have a custom kernel installed? If yes, do I need to mount system before installing? Thanks for help

I refer you to my previous post in this thread
wipe data system cache
mount everything
flash rom
you can use any compatible kernel
The problem with the files is caused by the sdcard

Flashing stock rom.
Bro, are you trying to flash back to stock Samsung ROM? if so just google the Model number of your phone followed by stock rom
EG: GT-i9500 Stock ROM.
Okay then Put it onto your SD Card (extSD or intSD) and flash the rom the way you normally would
But next time Do this then you can revert instantly:
1.)Download a APPLICATION BACKUP APPLICATION ie:Titanium Backup
NB: DO THIS WHILST ON STOCK ROM!
Enter recovery Mode (im using CWM in this instance)
2.)Scroll down to "backup and restore"
3.)Enter and select "backup"
NOW YOUR ROM IS BACKED UP (WITHOUT APPS (HENCE WHY WE DOWNLOADED A BACKUP UTILITY))
4.)Next time just backup and restore from that backup you made and install the apps you had using your backup utility
Enjoy your day, Hope this helped!

E612 problem help me

hi. i can flash cm11 and cm10.1 roms. But when i flash FreeL5 and AospMod l5 my phone stay at bootloop and bricked. What i should?
Try install everything on a clean system.
Maybe the problem or try to make a zip format / system and flash
Do a full format.. Wipe everything except ur external sd. Remember when flashing a diffrent rom , u have to do a full format to avoid such bricked, bootloops etc.. And dont forget to make a nandroid backup of your current rom.
