If you're on sprint network
Connect to WiFi and dial ##72786#

I'm not on Sprint, I'm looking to use the phone internationally. I think somehow the phone thinks that it's roaming.

Yes I did, if you look at the picture you'll see that the phone is has all the bars. And as I said when people call me the calls come in its just that whenever I try to answer I get a prompt saying that I need to activate, then it proceeds to run an app call ZACT which really doesnt do anything either....

?
Does anyone have an idea how to get this thing working???

Do you have insurance just go to a sprint store they will swap you into a refurb it may take a few days to get it being that its Friday and they only ship on business days

Thanks Dincdoes but I dont live in the states... that aside its not so much that the phone is broken as i said it keeps trying to get me to activate this ZACT thing which as far as i know is no longer offered not that it matters i just want to get rid of it

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2928250 it.can help u.

If you want I believe you can go to your sprint account online and blacklist the number.
Is that black listing free?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Its free you can do online in your account setting permissions or you can call sprint to block it
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Or install Mr. Number Call Block on your phone. I use it to send incoming 800/888/866/865 numbers and their built-in "suspected spam" list straight to voicemail. You can, of course, add your own numbers to block or exclude, and you can choose whether to send blocked calls straight to voicemail or simply block.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/mr-number-call-block/com.mrnumber.blocker
You can also add the number as a contact and then force the calls to go straight to VM. Click on the contact>edit>Send calls directly to voicemail.

There's no need to start being aggressive when you were just asked a polite question so at least try to be polite back or just say you can't help. Can you please refrain from using bad language even if it's directed at yourself as we have members of all ages on XDA.

Have you done any modifications to the device? ##72786# always works for me.
I mean worse case scenario, you can do a hard reset or take it to a sprint store.

No I just flashed back to stock MDC took it to the store and they couln't help me. Customer Support gave me a $10 bill credit and will have engineers look in to it i know it is a issue with the phone so what else do you recommend I do. BTW do you know how to manually write a data profile because I tried manually activating it and only calls and text worked.

Well that was nice of customer support. I highly doubt it, but maybe you can update to MDL or MF9.
And I don't know blue to, I'm sorry. But if you got texting and calls working, I think it's a step in the right direction. Just the data doesn't work , right?

Sprint Activation

I have got Sprint S4 and it is stuck on Hands free Activation. I don't have Sprint coverage here so how can I be able to activate this phone? I plan to unlock it and use it with another carrier.
Thanks.
In a another country, yes
In this country, no
If u don't have Sprint coverage there, go to somewhere you get coverage to activate it or call sprint they might give you an airrave

Thanks for the hint. Tried it by renaming activation.apk to activation.apk.bak but the "Hands free activation" still pops up on every boot. I don't get any signal even after unlocking.
to get signal you will need to program the phone.. and for that you can use DFS to input your CDMA network information manually...

If federal agents confiscate my S5, what would they be able to find?

Deleted SMS? Uninstalled messenger apps, would they be able to pull up that stuff?
They'd probably be able to get warrants for Facebook, Twitter, and other messenger apps. How long does VZW save SMS and MMS messages for?

I never discussed anything illegal with this person, nor am I involved in any illegal activity, so I'm in the clear. Just not so sure what kind of trouble they'll be in once they get into that phone.

If nothing else they'd be able to see what you can see on your vzw account info. Such as; sms numbers to and from, calls to and from, GPS pings if they had requested them which is likely if they have confiscated his phone. Literally vzw will give everything they have. These big companies always cooperate. The reality is you should never text, much less talk about sensitive information on your smartphone. While it may be secure from the average user it is not secure from the man.
To add; a friend lost his phone and vzw was able to restore to his contacts, literally ever number called and received, for the past 5+ years.

One time I lost my phone and I had important info in a text message. I called VZW to ask if they could retrieve the contents of my texts for me. They said they could only do that with a court order. So, it is possible for them to retrieve SMS contents.

The problem is these three letter agencies don't cooperate in all things. I'm sure they could just go straight to the NSA, but they just want to handle themselves.

message content can only be obtained by court order and is only kept by the carrier for so long.. if the govt can pull deleted files off a broken hdd im pretty sure theyll have no issues with a phone regardless of the carrier..

Personal photos/videos that haven't been backed up.. (aka, pictures of a pornographic nature that you wouldn't want to share, that even PhotoVault can't keep hidden)
Pirated music.
Pirated movies.
account informations for further networking beyond google/facebook....
A lot to lose.
