You need to buy BlackHat USB Motorola jig or knock one up from the junk / extra USB cord. This is the only way to force the phone to boot without battery. I had to buy mine just in case.

So that had worked for you a jig can I make one.

Alright, you will have to get at the micro USB connector shell, and solder ID pin to red wire (5V + power). Some Blackberry USB cords has yellow wire inside which actually lead to the ID pin in small USB B plug, you just tie yellow wire to red wire.

Sorry I haven't been on thanks for the reply and will it put my phone into fastboot mode because my phone acts live a brick.
Sent from my VS840 4G using XDA Free mobile app

You have to put it in fastboot manually but the bootloader will still boot because the Motorola factory jig basically bypass the battery. In fact, Motorola flash the phones this way before the batteries are even installed.
Also, I doubt you would have bricked your phone's bootloader so good by botched update since the second stage bootloader is usually small, about 10 MB in file size. You will usually be able to enter the fastboot menu with factory jig.

OK thanks so even though my phone won't power on after a update the jig will put it into fastboot mode and I will be able to flash software back in there. Is that what you mean.
Sent from my VS840 4G using XDA Free mobile app

The jig will basically keep the phone on without the battery, allowing you to proceed with fastboot. It's how Motorola coded the bootloaders, basically an emergency boot mode.
After a successful unbricking, the battery charger will start to function normally. The reason Motorola do this type of bricking is mostly safety, of course the battery can crash and burn, especially with the broken software on the phone. So, Motorola reserved the USB ID = 5 Volts DC USB power as the emergency boot mode.

OK so the cable that came with my phone cannot act like a USB jig because I have one it just won't get into fastboot mode so if I make one it will go onto fastboot mode.

When you say jig do you guys mean a factory cable its very easy to make (thread linked) or buy a team black hat adapter
We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.

dbreezy187 - this. I will find a link to Blackhat jig (I have this one - $10).
EDIT: ....! Team Blackhat disappeared.... Guess I lucked out and bought one on time. Nevertheless it ought be simple to make the factory cable.

So it should work because I still don't think that a USB jig would work because my phone is like this I will post a YouTube link of my problem OK hold up.

You should to try a factory cable... The green led tells me that the battery is dead (to dead to boot to the charging animation, fastboot or os) and it is recognizing that it is connected to a power source... Try to use a factory cable to flash the firmware if it does flash successfully once flash connect it to a standard USB cable and charge vie wall adapter not a pc
Edit... I just read that it may have died during ota if that is the case you may be in a hard spot... Next step I would contact moto or vzw for warranty status and/or replacement/repair

[Q] need help de-brick this

Here is the story.. the kids were trying to unlock the keys and too many tries. It is not allowing me to turn on WIFI and I no longer have VZ services. So, I flash the rom, few time and I might of flashed the boot rom and the Fascinate now won't boot, nor the vol/power combo would put it into download mode.
So, I did some research around, people will making custom jig, tying pin 4/5 with a 301K resistor to force the phone's JTAG into download mode. I ordered some Micro USB connectors and soldered pin4/5 with a 3X100K+1K resistors in between. Supposely, this would work for Galaxy, but it didn't work for me. I still couldn't get it back into download mode so I can flash more.
Any help is appreciated.
Also, if the boot rom is messed up, would it affecting the phone's charging circuit? I think the battery is good as I have the phone plugged into the power for couple days.
So, the phone is a Galaxy S Fascinate. No longer have service with Verizon, nor anyone else.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Wow that sure seems like the hard way. To get into download mode take the battery out hold volume down and plug it into your computer at the same time.
Now odin the complete dj05 package and hope it works
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Thanks. I've used the vol down/no battery/connect to PC method in the past and that worked great before I last flashed it with a "wrong" rom via odin. I'm just hoping to get back to download mode so I can flash it to the right package again.
Oh I see. Well not sure on that then. Hopefully someone smarter than me can help you. Good luck
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Did you solder the resistors in series or parallel? If parallel you don't have 301K
In series. I actually measured the resistence with a multi-meter verified it's 301K in deed. I just don't know if this method works with Fascinate and want to validate that with friends on this forum.

Atrix bricked

Searched the whole forum but couldn't find a solution. It was bricked after gingerbreak method of rooting and suddenly restarted itself. Now, all i can see is just the red dual core motorola bootlogo. It doesn't pass that screen either it doesn't restart itself. Stuck on the bootlogo till the battery is depleted.
It can't enter RSD nor Fastboot mode so can't be detected by the pc. This is the atrix of my friend, i have mine working normally, so no battery problem here.
Any suggestions and ideas are very welcome.
Thanks.
Pull the battery for restart & see if you can enter RSD mode immediately upon turning it back on???

Sounds terrible... brick before bootloader finishes? Holding volume-down or up gives nothing? It is very unlikely that Gingerbreak could do anything like this. Unless your friend flashed a rogue bootloader, baseband, or bad .sbf, I think maybe you have a hardware problem.. sucks they will not do the return-ship to USA for you. Maybe ask Crnkoj about this, he has asked Moto re: some exchanges from EU.. (not sure if they were more helpful tho)
As always, I would 'watch' (linux command) 'lsusb' (another linux command) to see if the device ever appears when plugged in, if there is a chance you could still sbf flash it.. but I am doubtful.
You know that i can try anything to debrick this broken beast. Wide open to try anything. I am not fond of linux but the lsusb command, how do i do that ?
And yes, it's very strange but gingerbreak method bricked this phone. Didn't brick mine or others tho. It was never used and working great before the rooting process. Not sure what my friend did but in the end, phone is brick. He didn't apply baseband or other flashes, too.
Hi,
You said you depleted the battery, that would be one reason the phone isn't detected by a pc. Have you tried charging the battery? You could probably do a battery swap and charge his in your phone.
If that doesn't fix it then you can always do up a factory cable and run the phone off your pc. It's just a male to male with regular usb on one end and micro B on the other, hack the micro end to tie pin 4 to vcc. If you didn't get what I just said, don't try it.
Get into rsd mode by holding down the volume up button when you turn it on. Reflash using a sbf. There is nothing gingerbreak is doing to brick your phone.
Cheers!
I will try that and inform the result, thanks.

Could you put some shematics or picture ? I tried to power the phone from the - + battery contacts and micro usb, it insists to stay forever on bootlogo.
This is very sad since it nearly costed about 900 $ !

Bypassing the battery is just so you can use rsdlite to flash a firmware without the battery being an issue.
Cheers!
I am not to knowledgable in this are (great way to start a post huh) but I recall someone before having a similar problem and was not able to have it detected by the pc but was able to get linux to see the phone?

Unfortunately, you may have fried a component on the usb board.
This can happen if you have the usb c inserted in the phone and then plug the A side into the power block.
You can order a new card here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162671342875?ul_noapp=true If you live near a large city you should be a to find a cell repair shop that can install it for you, should cost more then $50 to $60 dollars or you can send your phone to these guys for repair for probably close to the same price http://leecoservicecenter.com/
Perhaps you can get the usb to computer working by trying this: ( worked for me)
Make sure that your computer is up to date with its usb drivers.
shut down the computer and remove all peripherals, keep unplugged except for keyboard and mouse.
restart
Boot your phone into recovery, and plug your usb cable into one of the computers primary usb ports: usually in the back.
Wait to see if your computer recognises the device.
If it doesn't and you use Windows go to Device Manager
In the Start menu, right-click Computer | Manage, then expand Computer Management on the console tree and select System Tools | Device Manager
In the Start menu, right-click Computer Properties, then click Device Manager on the left pane
Control Panel | Device Manager
Control Panel | Hardware and Sound | Device Manager
Look for the usb card. see if your device is listed there, and update the drivers. Heres a step by step : https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-unknown-devices/
Try multiple cords, and another computer if needed.
It's also possible that the board is temporarily disabled.
Since your phone still charges, the reverse polarity protection that is programmed into the chips have shut down certain components. Perhaps the phone is not actually damaged. But in a protection mode.
Try letting your battery go completely dead, use it until it shuts down, keep restarting it until it has no power left.
With all power removed from the battery, the reverse polarity protection should reset and your next charge and hopefully the phone will be back to normal.
I hope this helps.
Well, this is worrying news. I wonder how common this issue is, or what it's caused by--a bad non-Benson approved cable? A bad USB-C port? Cements the fact that it's safer to use a USB-C to USB-C cable (provided your computer has a USB-C port) rather than a USB-C to USB-A one... now I miss Micro USB's simplicity.

Yes, the the X720 and the X727 are identical, the difference is the firmware.

There is still hope: You haven't had the chance to retry once the battery is fully discharged, it may work.
I used to work for Apple Support and I have personally used that as a solution, many times to resolve open support cases. With iPhones that had the exact same issue.
After it's all sorted out. Be sure to buy high quality replacement cables that come with a warranty. I replaced all of the usb c cables my house with new ones that are IF certified. i read about others having this exact issue months ago and I procrastinated.
Hopefully, it works out.

Are you serious!
The point was to demonstrate how easy it is, with a high quality video. Next, anyone who's ever taken these phones apart knows the steps are similar, and opening the phone with a heat gun while not damaging anything, obviously crucial.
If you read the entire post you would had noticed the link for the LeEco? See we know what's inside now.... Pretty much the same layout.
Not only is the interior is very similar. The G6 and the x727/x720 have similar specs.
I am actually doing this repair myself on one of my Le pro 3s as soon as the board arrives.
But, I don't have the time or the motivation to make a video when plenty exist.

You obviously ignored all of the previous posts in which provided all of those caveats. I.E. using a local service provider, or the 3rd party LeEco service site that I provided the link for, among all of the other warnings that I provided in my multiple posts!
Understand, I am actually trying to help someone, and not simply waiting by to make a comment on post that I disagree with. No, I have better things to do.
By the way what valuable service did you provide ? You have repaired so many phones, why not offer your services to fix it for the OP. While you cannot solicit the OP in a post you could PM him.
We both have decades of experience, so what!
I do not provide 3rd party service, on phones.
But, I am willing to do is provide reasonable advice. Buts make it clear, anyone who has experience with component level repair and troubleshooting will understand that this is far from being difficult.
Disassemble the phone, disconnect the wires, insert new USB card, reassemble everything Honestly, my 13 year old daughter could do this. But, she did grow up in a technical environment.

Lepro3 not bricked, but really strange

Well,
My Lepro 3 has a very very strange problem :
Everything started Monday : it was at 20% and he just switched off, and then did 0 sign of life for like 4 hours (it was charging, but no led, etc..). After those 4 hours, the red light started blinking but still. And after 1 hour, I was able to boot (he had 10%). I decided to reset the rom, however, there was no way to get the phone recognized by my computer. I then decided to go to sleep and to charge to 100% the phone. Of course, nothing changed. And i even realized something worst : it takes like 5-6 hours to get to 100%, and it was 1h30 before.
FURTHERMORE : my lepro 3 isnt recognized on any PC, and neither in fastboot mod.
PLUS :
- when switched off, he won't power ON if i plug him to usb/sector.
- when powered on, he will vibrate TWICE when plugged to usb/sector : charging for 1 sec, then not charging for one sec, and then charging (like if he was trying to fast-charge, fails, and then switched to low-speed-charging
- when switched off, i sometimes need to press power for 10sec+ to get him booting
- I tried different cables
- tried usb debugging on/off
I don't know what i can try.. the only way seems to reset it with adb-wireless by pushing him a new rom but well..
I think it is a problem with my USB-C port (lepro 3 side) and i guess it is not using fast charging anymore
However, my headphones (usb-c) still work
Thanks in advance...
PS : I forgot to mention that i am running with Cydras Google-like rom 0.20S
I would switch to see makes a difference I have used that ROM without issue

Well I don't really know how to change the rom with no USB access.. Dunno if adb wireless is safe
Moreover, since the phone doesn't power up when off and plugged.. I guess the rom has nothing linked with this.. But maybe i'm wrong ! Could it be the kernel ?

I just realized that when the phone is off :
if :
i plug it : nothing happen
i try to power it on : it vibrates one but doesnt boot
I need to unplug it and then to power it on
EDIT : I just managed to install twrp with flashify, but i would like to know if it will be useful to install a new rom or if it won't change anything....

Please read what I've already tried
You recommended a new rom : i said i already tried
You asked for debugging mod : i said i already tried
You asked for a different cable : i said i already tried
But still thanks for your help
EDIT : With the new rom (AICP 7.1.2) it's even worst : doesn't even charge when android booted, the only way to make it charging it to boot in recovery mod and to plug it

Yeah I tried..
It sounds like your usb card is fried.
I had this exact issue 2 months ago, I was lucky that the vendor exchanged it for a brand new phone.
It was probably fried by your usb cable. See if you can exchange the phone under warranty. Ask the vendor that you purchased it from, to honor the warranty, since contacting Leeco is difficult. Worst case, you will need to replace the USB card, its about $10.
VYeah, i guess it's the USB card... But there are two problems :
- its pretty Hard to disassemble a lepro 3
- i think that the original pro3 USB card comes with the vibrer, the speaker, and the microphone, and i didnt find any USB card with all of this on aliexpress...
He is no longer under warranty (15months vs 12)
Edit : another strange effect is that on cydras's ROM, the phone actually charges when powered on (but slow). On AICP 7.1.2, it juste says "plugged, not charging" when powered on

I have exactly the same problem, you decribed it to the letter.
Did you ever found a way to fix it?
Or did you buy another usb card?
If so which one?
If any one has any information related to thsi case i really could use your help..

You are either bricked or its your battery, if bricked and the computer doesn't recognise the phone it still might recognise the port
Follow steps here to find out how: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/unbrick-leeco-phones-leeco-variants-t3847220

Hey tsongming i have read quite a lot of posts from you in the last few days before commenting, i already tried before hand everything you said to get my phone detected by my computer and it still dosent get detected:
- tried multiple computers
- multiple cables
- and just in case, different driver versions.
Tried it all except the EDL Amazon cable you recommended in another one of your posts.
I have read that if i can't get it detected then theres nothing i can do.. which would suck.
ATM i have google pixel, beforehand i had AICP which worked really horrible on battery issues and would sometimes crash it. I have been using stock cable for 2 years which as i've read it the past few days is a terrible a ideia, and stock charger but as you say and qualcomm, i also believe its ok.
At this time i believe the problem might be a burned USB Card or the Battery itself bugging out(?) but since it charges when turned off (e.g: charged for 8 hours in supercharge to 84% =S), im clueless.
Since you said that you had the same issue on one of your Leeco, anything else you can recommend for me to try?
P.S: its worth noticing, i can Fastboot, Recovery to TWRP and turn it on, if indeed bricked i would call it a soft brick i guess..

If you can boot to Fastboot and Recovery, Then its not bricked. Your software is probably corrupted from a power spike or short. Its possible that your issue is just the USB card, which you can find for under $10, on Alibaba, Ebay and even Amazon.
Note that when you remove the screen do not use a Hairdryer to heat up the glue, there is way too much glue! You will need to briefly use a heat gun , and the screen will slide off with ease, the display and battery connectors are the lego type.. There are demonstration videos on Youtube.
Since you are removing the screen, you might as well replace the battery while your at it ( It should not cost more than $12)
If you want to buy a Backup LCD they are about $18 to $25 . ( definitely, recommend since there is a good chance of breaking the LCD, that you currently have)
If you order the screen, remove your LCD screen first to make sure that you order the correct one. They come with either black or yellow Flex cables ( not sure why) But if you have yellow obviously order yellow.
Make sure that the USB card is all inclusive and includes the chips, you are better off to spend a few dollars more for the better quality board. Sometimes the cheap ones come with missing chips for quick charge and CDLA ( Read the reviews)
Good Luck.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this, you can find Leeco Repair with a Google Search, or you can use TaoBao to get a "guaranteed fix", for really cheap. ( Even if its the motherboard ) They replace components and resolder) I doubt its the motherboard, but it's possible. In my case, I fried the motherboard and the phone still came on , but would not boot to system, also the screen was very pixelated.

Unbrick your dead-boot lumia... WITHOUT JTAG!

Wondering where I was? me too.
Long time has passed since the start of this post (almost 4 years to be exact), so I decided to finalize this finally and release the fully fledged guide. Interesting how this all got here just because me, a dumbass, formatted his Lumia 920 in Mass-Storage Mode in 2016.
So let's start.
First of all, make sure your device isn't in QHSUSB_DLOAD. After all if it is, you can just flash with WDRT or Thor2, and not spend so much time on that (see my video on how to recover from QHSUSB_DLOAD).
Step 1
Disassemble your Lumia. You can use online video guides or just a service manual, doesn't really matter.
Step 2
Find the schematics of your device, most if not all are available online, afterwards, find R3209 resistor, yes, that legendary resistor which will force the device to QHSUSB_DLOAD.
Step 3
After finding it in schematics, find it on your device, approximately, since it is most likely under a metal shield, once found the approximate location, remove the shielding with heat, or if you are like me, start cutting it like death is coming.
Step 4
Now the interesting part, reconnect your phone's battery, this will ensure the phone isn't in any sort of state and is powered off. After, short the resistor to ground and connect your phone to PC while shorting, wait 2 seconds and remove the short.
Step 5
Voila!
Take a look at my video on how to recover from QHSUSB_DLOAD, and recover your Lumia using it.
Can you explain why you think this works?
I do this to Lumias that don't get detected but without cutting my USB cable. Pop the battery cable off the board and plug the cable into the phone. Then plug the battery cable ribbon back into the motherboard. Worked for me that way...

Sorry, but there are Lumias in the wild that doesn't support that way of connection.
They just don't get connected.

When you make the edl cable and hold the button while turning the lumia on, the cable works like a short jig. As in every device, the CPU is "starting" first, there's command that is implemented in the CPU that switches the device to EDL mode but in this case, as the boot is dead, it switches to Qualcomm F006 Mode in other words, Qualcomm Modem Mode, which is normal for hard bricked devices.
I read a guide about unbricking a DragonBoard 410c but it's done using some base firmware files which we don't have.

Perfect! This is what I needed. Thanks.
My next question would be, how does this change for USB type c windows phone hardware or is it even applicable?
I'm assuming it should be in some way applicable, but it might depend on the device. So what might work for Lumias might not apply to Alcatel hardware etc. or vice versa.
I ask this because I have a few hard bricked devices either in QC USB modem mode or the like.
Another question would be can this method be used to boot a device into edl/USB modem mode even if it is not hard bricked yet?

Answering to your Question 1:
No, this is not applicable for USB Type C hardware Windows Phones, as they run completely differently (which I didn't do research about).
Answering to your Question 2:
No, this only works with Lumias with Bootloader Spec A, and not with other brand manufactured Lumias.
Answering to your Question 3:
Yes you can enter the QHUSB_DLOAD mode if the device is not even bricked.
hi dude, i have a problem my computer detects the phone as QHSUSB_BULK, do you think this tutorial can work? regards

I don't know at this moment as I really screwed up my Lumia (battery blown).
But I think it will...
Could this work without disconnecting the battery? What is the reason for that?
I have a Lumia 1020 with the problems listed in this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78640119&postcount=830
thor2 seems to be useless with the same "authentication error" and WDRT also doesn't work.
Edit: Also, why is your battery blown? Is it because of this process?

My Battery is blown due to incorrect removing (it was glued)
Yes you need to disconnect the battery so the device looses full power so then you can enter to DLOAD mode

Not anymore though. Sold every one of them . Except one. Even sold all my prototypes...
Trying it but not working. Phone still boots to same message of "Unable to find a bootable option".
Laptop not recognizing anything. Maybe the cable connections aren't correct.
Will try to directly short the green and black cables to one another with hands.
Also bought a new battery so should probably charge it fully first.
Edit: not working. Phone continues to boot to "Unable to find a bootable option".
The only difference is that with the short circuit between green and black, the laptop doesn't detect the phone.
Flash efiesp.bin partition from another phone using wpinternals.
