anyone can help me with my problem? thanks for paying attention to my thread 1st
i'm experiencing overheat of my battery which is around 45 degree Celsius on normal use
the lowest i can get is around 42, which is very high, doesnt matter i took it out for couple hours and put it back, temperature still the same, around 10 degree higher than normal
is it possible that the thermometer thing inside the battery has gone hay wired? if so how can i recalibrate it?

No one can help if you do not provide info. Windows ROM, radio, Android ROM, kernel, are you overclocking? What are you doing when the temp reaches the highest? Is it in the 40's all the time?
P.S. Questions should go in the Q&A section.
You should also make sure that you are using original battery.
Some aftermarket batteries have wrong temp reading...
clock speed you're at and governor used?
i always underclock to 768mhz or 576mhz jus to keep my batt temp under 40 degrees celcius..
note that if you charge and use heavily at the same time, the temp rises higher than normal, so avoid this..

if you get same temp also in WMO, this means your battery is dying.
Buy another one.
if you using s7.6 HD kernel, use the smartass setcpu profile.

he said that his battery is hot also in Windows Mobile.
How SMARTASS will help him to get a cold battery in Windows Mobile?
Please read befor posting
His battery is going to dead shortly.
just elementary electrical knlowedge. When a Li-Ion/Li-Po battery start going dead, his internal resistance will raise up. You may now that havin some current passing thru an higher resistance will cause more heat. Think about a lightbulb. If it is 20W it's hot.. but a 200W it's hotter.
So, when your battery is hot without using it, means that internal resistance is raising up, so means that the battery is almost dead. It's time to change.

a brand new battery could die also after 24 hours because defective.
The thing that you was not able to charge it.. confim my toughts. Your battery is damaged/defected. Trash it and buy another one.
Damaged/defected batteries could also explode.
I have had atrix about a week now and I have been having some extreme overheating issues. After about 15 minutes of watching a youtube video, according to temp monitor lite, my cpu temperature rose to about 55 degrees celsius. Is this nnormal? Or should I as for a replacement?
Thanks.
There us several threads about this....
And its normal idk why.
Mine its at 55 or more and battery get like 43+

Yes, it's hot, but apparently it's normal. Scares me when it gets that hot, but I haven't heard of anything really bad happening to anyone or their phones.

Are you people saying its normal .. as in a lot of people are experiencing this?
Or
saying its normal as per Motorola saying its normal?
If its the first option, I would hardly think that is safe. Ever think its a device wide ISSUE? Unless Motorola say that the device has no issue running at those temperatures, then I would really doubt it is normal.
Do you think this phone has some sort of unseen substance in it that prevents it from being damaged at this kind of temperaturewhich no other smartphone has? There is no extra protection for the sim or memory card. Which obivously are not meant to deal with excessive heat

If the phone had active cooling for the processor (like a fan, hahaha.) and it still "overheated" then that would be an issue, otherwise you're looking at a 1GHz phone with twice the cores of any previous phone at the same clock speed. What are you really expecting?
I dont agree that its normal for the phone to get hot regularly, i definitely wouldn't put up with "crazy overheating". And I dont use my Atrix moderately either, I'm constantly on it. TiBU tells me I have 417 system/user apps as an example of my extreme use. There are a couple other threads on this subject, op you should search them out. WatchDog will monitor your apps and let you know if any are misbehaving.

From Motorola:
"It is possible phones will become warmer during heavy use. This is normal behavior especially if you are transmitting data, talking for an extended period of time, or playing games or music on the device. In these conditions, the phone is transmitting and utilizing alot of power on the device which will generate heat.
Motorola phones manufactured in 2009 or later have a "cool down mode" function. This feature is designed to protect the battery and circuit board. If the internal temperature of the phone exceeds 136 degrees Fahrenheit, the device will shutdown all functions except emergency calls. When this happens it will display a cool down mode message. Once overheated, a phone will not regain full functionality until the internal temperature drops below 136 degrees Fahrenheit. Ensure you are not leaving the phone in locked cars, in direct sunlight, on warm or hot items such as heaters or radiators, or any location that produces heat that will heat up the phone."
If it gets hot while charging the battery, and doing nothing else, there is a problem.
Now, please don't give up your day job, because being a smartass isn't working for you! Don't let the doorknob hit ya where the good lord split ya on yer way out!

Ok .. you showed a critical threshold of the phone. Do you think pushing the phone to excessive heats but staying below that threshold is good for the phone? Notice that it doesn't mention how SIM cards and memory cards will continue to respond when being exposed to excessive heat with no ventilation or circulation ..in fact your quote clearly says that feature is for the bAttery and circuit board
Bottom line..
you can push your phone to 130 degrees (since that's below your shutdown threshold ) and I will spread out my usage and keep my temperature down to a minimum ... and my phone WILL last longer than yours and I WILL have less issues with it.
Highest my battery has ever got is 48c
highest my processor has ever been is 63c
was the phone hot? probably.
processor normally sits at about 45-50 in my cardock as per what setcpu says
battery sits between 40 and 45 in the car dock.
Watching a movie in the car dock whilst my kid was in the car setcpu says it hits anywhere between 55 and 60.
It leads me to believe that the max operating temperature for the CPU is right at about 65c, and teh battery right about 55c.

So you are basically talking about the SIM card and memory card on all phones which are going to come out with dual core and no active cooling, cos they are all going to get hot. What Motorola has stated is what any manufacturer would and does. They have given us their safe operating threshold. Now, 136 degrees is a lot, but how much of this heat affects your SIM card and SDCard? I don't know, and you have provided absolutely nothing to substantiate your personal claims. Bigger doorknob needed I guess!
I simply responded to the OP telling them it's normal for this phone to get hot. If you want to continue down this avenue we can, but until you have something from a SIM card manufacturer and SDCard manufacturer substantiating you claims, I'm done.

Considering the memory card and SIM card are not far from the battery and are trapped under a cover... a lot of the heat would be affecting them as well. When did I say anything about dual core at all? I don't think I even typed those words out.
Point is that I don't know if most of these people are even doing enough tasks on their phones to even get TWO cores aggitated enough to put out that kind of heat. All of my other smart phones were pushed much more than this and have remained pretty cool to the touch. Even one with a metal battery cover.
I was more replying to the many posts across the ner and people I know that have the Atrix heat up too much and for too long.
As far as OP goes..
"I have had atrix about a week now and I have been having some extreme overheating issues. After about 15 minutes of watching a youtube video, according to temp monitor lite, my cpu temperature rose to about 55 degrees celsius. Is this nnormal? Or should I as for a replacement?

When you're streaming video the heat will increase, but make sure you dont let it stay hot for increased periods of time. You dont need to request a replacement unless you are experiencing excessive heat frequently.
Also, when streaming - try not to have GPS and other things like that running in the background.
Hello,
is it normal that my Nexus 4 hits 50° Celsius (thats 122° Fahrenheit)?
I was just playing that 10 fast fingers app and it seemed like a light app so I was pretty surprised how hot it got and downloaded a temperature widget...
Any opinions? Did your device get so hot? Should I ask for a replacement?
Sounds fine to me? The glass doesn't block heat transference, so people really notice it a lot on this device. When you get above 65°C is when I'd start to worry.

The CPU creates the heat and much of it is transferred to the battery. One theory is that these phones throttle so quickly to prolong the life of the battery. I think they shut off at 70°
Are you on stock kernel? Try franco, he addressed this issue in his code. If you search his thread you will find useful info.
50 is fine. Desktop and laptops can often run up to 90 degrees Celsius. Also, you can't get blister from something that's 50 degrees.

My phone was getting quite warm when browsing and was draining battery. I kept disabling packages until this was fixed. Try this. Or if you are okay with full factory reset, try it and don't install any additional apps - just test the same thing first.
It shouldn't get hot while doing basic things. My phone only gets warm to the touch when I'm on VR and even then I don't consider it "hot". Disabling things or shut down all apps you have is not a fix either..it's just a workaround.. I would return it if I where you
My 935FD phone will get up to 96F (35C) while browsing or really doing anything with the screen on for more than 10 mins. It gets noticeably warm to the touch. I've already done a factory reset and disabled a few packages, but I'm not sure if this is just normal operation or not? Does everyone's phone get warm under normal use? What temps are you seeing after being in Facebook or just browsing for 10 mins straight? Trying to determine if mine might be defective as well.

My phone runs about 36c never seen above 40
Hi
So I bought my GS7E a week ago .. I started to notice that it heats so much when I use it
I just don't know if this is the normal heat for it or not so I wanted to know from your experience
so at normal base when I'm not using it it stays at 34-35C
When I use it for whatsapp, facebook an normal light use it goes up to 37C
when I charge it it goes up to 40C
and sometimes when it's in the car on in my pocket and nothing is running in the background it can go to 40C too
that makes it annoying to receive calls or to hold it and put it next on my ear
should I just keep it is it normal ? or is there a rom I could download? what should I do?
Hello to every one. Bought gs7 just two days ago.
I noticed mine gets warm after about 5_10 minutes of browsing the web. Right now its about 1 hour and its temp is 34`c. If i dont use it it goes down to 32 after some minutes.
After 20 minutes of playing gta vice city it reached 35 and afer 5 minutes of 4k recording it reached 37.
I wanted to know should i consider it normal?
Many forums state that 40 degrees battery temperature is not unsusual . However, 3-4 beers is also not unusual, but it does do damage to the brain.
On batteryuniversity.com I found an article:
"Lithium-ion suffers from stress when exposed to heat, so does keeping a cell at a high charge voltage. A battery dwelling above 30°C (86°F) is considered elevated temperature and for most Li-ion a voltage above 4.10V/cell is deemed as high voltage. Exposing the battery to high temperature and dwelling in a full state-of-charge for an extended time can be more stressful than cycling. Table 3 demonstrates capacity loss as a function of temperature and SoC."
I think this is frightful.
My S7 runs at an average of 32 degrees. (23 degrees ambient)
After half an hour of Gear VR it runs up to 43 degrees.
This means that on average this S7 runs above 30 degrees!
Should I ask a replacement or is my logic totally flawed?
Hi,
Mine, with factory reset and nothing running on background (S Health and all stock google and microsoft apps disabled), is not going below the 34 degrees without doing anything..very annoying touching the back and feel it warm.. I think I will ask for a replacement or at least a check in a experience store here in London..

Hey guys, i have the Chinese variant of the s7 and mine also runs warm just browsing chrome, though I have to use a vpn as well. I'm past the point of getting a return, but they say I can take it in to get it checked. Have you guys had your s7 tested and is there anything they can do if there's anything wrong with the phone? I'm very frustrated over this, as I thought there would be improvements over the s5. Mine operates around 35c according to cool master and it's frustrating having a hot phone. I'm thinking of getting the supcase so I perhaps won't feel the heat so much. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it normal for the snapdragon s7s to run a tad warm? And, you guys use a case that prevents you from feeling the heat? It's hard to use this phone naked, as the whole thing is metal and glass, so it's hot in your hand.
So, I purchased a replacement battery for my V20 from Amazon. I wen't with the Perfine 3,200mAh as I couldn't trust that the "original OEM" batteries were genuinely original. However, I've noticed (as one other review on amazon mentioned) that the temperature sensor in the battery isn't working. It constantly seems to read around 22°C no matter what. The other day my V20 became very hot during use, possibly dangerously hot (I don't think this was related to the battery, it was a fairly hot day). I checked the temps using Aida64. One of the temperature sensors, "tsens_tz_sensor11" read 71.4°C!! I immediately shut the handset down to be on the safe side. I don't think I've ever had a phone get this hot. Is that normal? Or even safe? And how dangerous is a battery without a temp sensor? - I'm guessing not very safe at all

Sorry, I didn't really make that clear enough. There are a ton of fake "Genuine LG OEM" branded batteries out there. They're all skinned like the official battery that came with the V20, with a few minor differences. This make it really hard to know whether you're actually buying a genuine LG product or not.
The battery I bought isn't a knock off, it's a third party battery. The capacity of this replacement is great, actually slightly better than the genuine one that came with my V20. The only issue is the dud temperature sensor.

The battery I bought isn't a knock off, it's a third party battery. The capacity of this replacement is great, actually slightly better than the genuine one that came with my V20. The only issue is the dud temperature sensor.

71C is high, is that after running a benchmark or something? My note 4 used to go over 73c sometimes .My cpu idles around 28-30c ( i changed the thermal paste) and goes to around 60c under max load.I'd recommend changing the thermal paste for sure. Regarding the battery, it's probably the temp sensor on the Battery IC that's not compatible with V20?

I was on 4G at the time, and only checking Reddit and reading the news. Nothing intensive at all, which is why I freaked out a little. Room temp was probably around 30°C at the time.
I reckon you're right about the temperature sensor. It does seem to get some sort of reading but always hovers around the 22/23°C mark. Should I be worried about that? The battery obviously has a temp sensor for a reason. I really don't want a note 7-esq experience any time soon...

yeah you never know. When charging batteries( especially non-oem) best to have fully functioning one especially from a safety standard.Yes, there are good reasons for battery temperature sensor. It says a lot about the health of the battery , like if its prone to failure in the near future. This is a wild scenario but say if your battery starts expanding rapidly it's gonna be very hot and phone will be made aware(99% chance this isn't gonna happen but just an example). You may have noticed if you use Fast charge, the battery gets hot, nothing crazy but hot nonetheless. So if your device is fast charging, it may send false battery temp readings and fast charge may keep sending higher voltage or current(i think fast charge is like 9v) because as far as it knows battery is not at temp threshold. Obviously voltage threshold comes in to play primarily, but you get the the idea. That's just another scenario i could think of as an example.Have you tried checking temps with other apps like cpu-z for consistency? Yeah i see why your temp is so high 30C room temp, that's so hot lol Mine is probably 14C .
My battery definitely goes above 23c so yeah something is wrong there.
Interestingly i once made my phone reach 90c with lineage os running kernel auditor and cpu on max speed. I could not touch the fingerprint se sor. Im not sure if it was really 90 or kernel auditor was wrong. Battery and everything was stock.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, I reluctantly returned it today. It's a shame because it really was a huge improvement over the stock V20 battery. I've taken a punt on another third-party replacement. Fingers crossed!

Holy moly! That's ridiculous! haha. I know CPUs can withstand very high temps, but 90°C in a smartphone is pretty nuts!
