This would give buyers a way to do quality check while in the replacement warranty period or while checking the unit in the store before taking it home...
Like checking the following:
Water proofing
Camera - pink spot issue
Gaps
Flaps
Build defects
Speakers
Battery
Diagnostics ( contributed by hanime)
1. First time diagnostics
Go to Settings > Diagnostics and perform all the tests.
2. Advance diagnostics
Call *#*#SERVICE#*#* (or equivalent to *#*#7378423#*#*).
Then go through all the service tests (sound, water proof, etc.).
Good thread. I was going to suggest a thread like this, after seeing several common issues with the phone. Please update the original post with people's additions. Here is mine:
First time diagnostics - Go to Settings > Diagnostics and perform all the tests.
Advance diagnostics - Call *#*#SERVICE#*#* (or equivalent to *#*#7378423#*#*). Then go through all the service tests (sound, water proof, etc.).
Camera tests - Turn on the camera app and cover the rear lens completely (with a pillow or similar, not your hands). Take a shot with the camera app. Check that it is completely black, no particles or noise. Do the same with the front camera (the front camera will have slight noise and particles--but that's normal I believe for a 2.0MP). Take a photo on auto and manual mode on various background colors for pink spot in the center. Recommended background includes gray, white, and brown.
Speaker test - Play audio at the max volume. Check for crackling sound. Use various music/videos to test.
Light leak test - Turn on a white page on the phone, then check around front screen bezel (where glass meets frame) for light leaks. Also check for inner screen leaks (where the LCD inside meets the glass).
QA tests - Check outer bezels (where glass meets frame) for gaps, front and back. Check corner pieces to see if they are not bulging outwards. Run your finger through the corners to check for smoothness with the aluminum frame. Check the flaps (USB & sim/microSD) to see if they are evenly close, not at an angle.

Attached is a picture of the camera completely covered up facing down on my desk, so you can see the issue pretty clearly.
In low light conditions it always appears, is this an expensive fix because I don't think its software

Looks like a possible crack in the glass or more likely a fiber /dust inside the phone on the image sensor.
I'd you haven't had it too long or tripped Knox, I recommend swapping it out in the store.
Yesterday, my note 3 made a fall from a slip in my hand, and now, there's a little crack at the top left on the screen. The screen is not turning on, and I think it is no more registering touches.
Amazingly enough, the glass protector does not have any scratch, but I can clearly see small crack in the LCD behind.
The sound is working fine.
I have already opened the case and have unplugged and re-plugged the connections, still no change.
My question: I want to confirm whether the screen and digitizer have been damaged. Any ideas/ advise on how to confirm this ?
Basically, I want to go ahead and buy a screen and digitizer replacement and perform the change, and I didnt want to invest on something which might not be needed.
Please provide your help and views guys.
Thanking you all.
Screen fixed. Camera issue
Just to post an update.
I had ordered a screen and digitizer for my N9005. Yesterday, with a rather fast shipping, it got delivered.
I carried out the swap, ie, removed all sensors, camera, vibrator, mainboard from my existing and transfer to the new screen/digitizer.
All went okay, screen, touch, all sensors, front cam.
Just that my rear (main) camera shows some artifacts on the image - on the camera screen and the photo taken. See attached.
It seems like it is showing some piece of glass fractured or scattered. Any help on how to proceed from here ?
I was trying to remove the middle plate (where the outer lens is found), so see whether this lens is broken, but as per my tests, I see that the phone refuses to power on once this plate is removed.
Info: The photo attached is when I pointed my camera to shoot over a white wall.
Any help is welcome, please.

So I'm receiving my 6P tomorrow, and I wanna test everything that's been going wrong (yellow screen, lower back lip, bluetooth sync, headphones not working, random reboots, etc) and figure out if I should RMA it asap
Might seem obvious but check for dents in the aluminum, especially near the power/volume buttons.
I could live with all the little flaws..... But my screen was slightly "warped" at the bottom right corner and no Tempered Glass Screen Protectors would stay attached to that corner.
RMA in process.
Problem: No problems.
Sent from my Nexus 6P
- Pink hue to screen / Yellow hue to screen
- Screen flush-ness to side bezels
- Lower grill speaker being significantly quieter than the upper grill speaker
- (As posted above) Dents/bends in metal near power/volume rocker
- Camera not focusing well
- Figerprint scanner not working while charging
- Strange software issues (I.E. fingerprint software missing, random reboots, shaky bluetooth)
I'm sure i'm missing a few...
Haven't had anything that I would say is a problem with build or software. All my issues have been with 3rd party items, case with to small a hole to plug in headphone jack and poorly cut screen protectors. The 6P itself has been wonderful so far
I've been having speaker issues. The bottom speaker is lower than the top speaker. I tried to RMA the device but Google says that's the way the phone was designed.
Hi, I have problem with my N4 screen.
For some time I watching the display began to peel off the glass at the corners (right, and little bit in left).
The following photos showing the problem:

I am the first owner (purchased in March 2013 on Google Play UK) and I never open case. So this is not a problem of some poor repair of display, or purchased refurbished version.
Is there any possibility to repair without replacing the entire screen?
I think of two ways to repair:
- Heat the display (ie. hairdryer), try press the inner side of whole screen module to re-gluing layers between glass and the display
- Try to inject glue in the corners (maybe a syringe needle) and squeeze layers.
Anyone have idea how to fix it?
I noticed some noise, not software relating, whenever I leave it on table, bed or something else, ( I do not throw it) I noticed a slightly noise coming from camera and sensor area. I thought that the side volume button, which is a bit loose, does the noise, but I pressed both of them an the noise is there.
If I tap slightly on camera/sensor corner I can hear some kind of like something is loose inside of it.
Has anyone noticed? Or has the same problem?
Thank you.

Probably the phone vibration motor. I noticed it too, mainly when I put my phone down on hard surface. It was more or less present on my previous phones too, so I guess it's normal.
Thanks for reply. I thought that in might comes from the lens.
You are right, noise comes from around the lenses. I've just checked the tear down photos and vibration motor is located near the usb port on the opposite side. So...I don't know what could be the reason
The sound is due to the Camera Lens Barrel required to operate the Auto Focus function. So basically, there are moving parts in the lenses, which are adjusting focus depending on how far the object is from your phone so the pictures are sharp.
Camera module is fitted with a “Stopper” to limit the Lens Unit movement within the space for the Camera module. When the Lens and Stopper touch, when shaking the phone, a slight noise may occur.
That means it's perfectly normal

I was not wrong thinking about Camera Lens.
Thanks for making clear and detailed explication.
