International Version - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

Hello All
Droid Turbo is the phone I've been dreaming of.
Will there be an International Version? This is exactly what the Nexus 6 should have been!
Cheers

[Q] When droid x comes?

Is there anyone knows the droid x will come to asia? Since most asia network is using 3G(GSM). I'm yearning for it.
Thanks.
I'd be prepared to wait a while. You'll most likely see it released in Europe first on GSM if they even release a GSM version at all.
I'd be willing to bet we will see a GSM Droid 2 before a GSM Droid X.

Selling an European HD2 to an American friend

Hey guys,
I'm thinking about selling my HD2 to an American friend of mine. It's the EU version and I was wondering if it will also work in the U.S. It's not all CDMA over there, isn't it? And what price would you suggest? It's in a really good condition and I was thinking about $200.
He would get me a American Galaxy Nexus (which is now being sold for 400$ directly from Google), which should work over here, I guess?
Thanks guys!

We have gsm as well, but it depends on specifications of the hardware, some phones don't like T-Mobile frequency bands.

So he would be tied to certain carriers? And how do I find out if/how it will work?

Which GS5 to get? ATT User

Hey guys, Just wondering which GS5 i should buy. I'm on AT&T and i'll be buying it used on ebay/craigslist.
When i had the S4 i remember there was issues with AT&T users having locked bootloaders/locked phones and what not. Should i get an ATT GS5, Verizon? Tmobile?
Thanks guys
Don't get AT&T. That's what I have and they locked the bootloader down hard-core and now I can't flash any cool roms
Yea idk if i want AT&T used for 350 or nexus 5 new for 350. I need a phone for work, as my environment is strictly android/windows based and i have an iPhone 6 plus at the moment.
thanks

Droid Turbo for use on T-Mobile?

Will this work?
It appears to support all the necessary radios/bands.
I would love the droid turbo (camera/screen) vs. the nexus 6.
Would be cool if the droid turbo (bought full retail) could be used on T-Mobile.
Any thoughts/comments?

I believe the Turbo will be launched for other carriers (T-Mobile/AT&T) as the "Moto X Play", from what I've read. This was based on FCC filings, but I forget where I saw it.

Seems like a better phone than the nexus 6.
I'm going to buy the 6 at launch but feel the 6" screen will be too big for me,.

I'm curious if the Moto X Play will be like the "pure" edition and will work on Verizon. It seems like the Nexus 6 will support all bands for all carriers, so there is only one SKU for that device in the USA, and a second SKU for international use.
If the Moto X Play is literally a carbon copy of the Droid Turbo but supports the additional bands, I'll buy it from Moto instead of VZW.
Only 6 days and 20 hours left...
Edit: I said pure edition, which is a Moto X thing, but really meant the N6 idea of having all bands on one device. Having the Turbo and Moto X Play is to get around the exclusivity of the Droid name, which is now locked up with Moto and Verizon only.
I think GSM version that visited the FCC might be called the Moto Maxx instead of the Moto X Play

Thanks! I was hot on the Verizon Droid Turbo but now I will wait to see if Motorola will come out with a Pure Edition model of it! Not sure they will however! Motorola seem to be giving out the high ends to exclusive tied U.S. carriers. Hope I am wrong! Love to buy a U.S. version Moto Maxx or Moto X Play unlocked 5.2" with the specs of the Nexus 6 inside!

Perhaps a dumb question about carrier models and custom ROMs

A co-worker has a lightly used T-Mobile G6 I'm thinking about picking up. Obviously this phone is too new for custom ROMs to be out there yet, and from reading here it looks like there are no custom recoveries either; but when that all starts to happen, will separate custom ROMs have to be created for each carrier variant, or will any ROM run on any carrier variant?
Pardon me if this is a dumb question. I'm coming in from the Nexus 5, which didn't have carrier-specific models. Thanks.
From previous experience there's enough difference between carriers to requirements different ROMs.

Good questions, I think most of the time this is necessary, but with the S7 for example it wasn't. This is my first LG too so we'll have to wait and see.
I have seen a few instances where two models have been compatible with one another. An old example would be the HTC Inspire 4g with the HTC Desire HD; the former was the domestic US models and the other was foreign. In another case, models both have bootloader unlocked and root available so the community choose to create roms compatible with both revisions.
I found the H850 and H830 (the LG G5?) had cross compatible development in some instances... Also, you could use Nexus 4 roms on the LG Optimus G once you completed the conversion process. I had the Optimus G and loved this capability!
Will it happen again, who knows.... we can only hope! I'm no developer, but just a rom junkie ;-p
But to answer the question directly: from the phones I've owned & read on the forums, you usually have carrier dependent roms. Now it seems more common to have no support on certain models altogether. This is why I sold my Galaxy Note 3 and now the LG G6 from at&t to get an unlocked T-Mobile variant.

All the 2014 Moto Quarks run the same custom ROMs.
Droid Turbo XT1254,
U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250,
Moto Turbo XT1225 (India), and
"international" Moto Maxx XT1225 (LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17).
All the way from Lollipop, Marshmallow, and now Nougat.
[ROMs][Quarks][List for Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo and Droid Turbo]
The phones are split between two different XDA forums, but the same ROMs are used by all the phones. The original CM dev @Skrilax_CZ made sure the kernel was cross-compatible, and it's stayed the way ever since.
The Quark was released at the same time as the Moto Nexus 6, and was basically 5.2" version of that phone -- but had a 3900 mAh battery! The Droid Turbo was the best known of the series, but I owned three of the Moto XT1225 as it has all the AT&T LTE bands. For some reason, Motorola changed the model names depending on country/carrier, but they all had the same hardware. The Droid Turbo was actually a CLONE of the U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250, with the same FCC ID and radio bands (LTE/CDMA). The XT1250 would run on Verizon with a Verizon SIM card because it was the EXACT same device. You could cross flash Verizon Motorola stock firmware onto an XT1250 to convert it into a "Droid Turbo" if you wished.
The XT1225 models had different FCC ID and radio, but still all the custom ROMs were compatible with ALL the Quarks, thanks to @Skrilax_CZ talent and foresight. And remains so to this day, even with a bunch of other devs now maintaining a variety of ROMs.
It seems the T-Mobile variant has a locked bootloader (which is not un-lockable). I'm guessing that will probably limit the amount of development for this variation of the G6. The only US model that is un-lockable is the US997 (not the US997 from US Cellular).

Yeah, I wound up buying unlockable US997s from B&H, passing up T-Mo's $500 buy-one-get-one offer with real regret.

Didn't realize the OP was that old. Whoops. Still probably good info to have on the thread.
Got mine from B&H too.
