G pad 8.3 google play edition roms - G Pad 8.3 General

For the love of god, is there any G Pad GPE roms out there??
Since I bought this tablet, in January, I'm very upset with it's performance, so I thought "Hmm a good ROM like cyanogen could make this thing better".
The problem is that I did not find ANY rom, ANY. So if you have anything to me, please!

Sleekai kernel.

I agree.... After owning a Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, I picked up a GPE 8.3 with Lollipop in mind. Like the tablet, but disappointed in the absence of devs.

With the Nexus 7 being cheaper, nobody bought the GPE Gpad. It's a failed experiment.
I'm just happy it hasn't been abandoned and will get Lollipop

Yep, lollypop will be refreshing...

hmm and wat about classic gpad 8.3 he gets lollipop too?

LG has been silent on the V500 front unfortunately...

I read on one of the tech websites that the v510 GPE would get Lollipop.

If v510 gets lollipop, then the v500 should also. They are the same hardware.

no they're not (probably)
devs couldn't get GPE roms to load on non-GPE

Its the same hardware bit2bit.
If we didnt have a locked bootloader we could flash gpe rom after some repartition and be good2go

locked bootloader doesn't matter because we have loki (can manipulate ANY kernel to be loaded on the device)

Yes but you cant flash an already nonelokified kernel such as gpe rom has.

but you can loki-fy a GPE kernel and flash it (if the hardward does match)
so either it's the same hardware (and we can transplant the ROM... but no one has succeeded), or the hardware is different
or software and hardware is different

100% same hardware. You have to symlink tgz and persist where gpe have them so wifi to work
Edit:
Even from the extsdcard

Don't you guys think if putting GPE firmware on the V500 was possible it would have happened by now?
I mean seriously...

If its not released on xda doesnt mean it cant be done. Seriously!

It sucks that the bootloader is locked and that we can't flash aboot from v510 and then do a repartition for a "true" conversion.

Can a stock v510 Rom be modified to run on a v500 by just using the loki script to install the boot.img?

What i fear about the incoming Lollipop

From all the leaked screenshots we can see, android 5.0 looks exactly like the kitkat LG UI. We are not getting the pure, stock lollipop(like white drawer etc). So, if we are going to loose unlocked bootloader, do we really need it?
Nobody is forcing you to upgrade. If you don't like the theme LG is using then stick with what you're using now.

If I understand you right there is two questions in what you wrote:
1. is LG keeping their signature UI design in the upcoming upgrade Android 5.0?
Answer: yes because this is always how it has been and will continue to be, valid not only for LG. Exception of course Play editions for some makes. Pure Google/AOSP UI look without LG launcher/apps will always be via custom roms.
2. Will I loose my Bumb/unlocked bootloader if I take the official upgrade?
Answer: not sure that will work either, but ya one could loose ability to bump bootloader after flashing official update. As soon as the upgrade is official some stock rooted roms will pop up ready to be flashed. There is even a leaked android 5.0 around now

There's more, MUCH more, to 5.0 than just the UI. To be honest, the visual changes are actually secondary to the system changes as far as I am concerned. I'm far more interested in the power management updates, camera enhancements, etc... Material design is basically window dressing.

Why did you think LG s going to release a AOSP looking L ?
Most of what you see in stock is just the Lollipop Now Launcher, which is limited and to my eyes ugly as sin. All that white is just horrible.
Most of the rest in the G3 is similar to the same as stock. Either way ill be using Nova, so its fine.
They will be changing it a bit

As long as you dont install the new bootloader, you can keep TWRP.
They figured out that the new boot.img could be bumped and flashed in the old bootloader.

Also, although @autoprime has confirmed the release of Android L for the D855 does not implement anti-rollback, this does not mean that other variants will not implement something to keep us from going back to previous software versions, then you may be stuck with Android L but no root or TWRP permanently

Just changing your Rom from sense to CM will not enable you to get the lollipop ota.... NOT even flashing a gpe Rom will do that... U have to actually do the full GPE conversion to be able to do that.

I might get gpe updates for this without manually changing it? Because I'm waiting for android Lollipop.
You won't get the update unless you're running stock gpe. I'm sure someone around here will make a rom of it for us tho.
Im currently running 'GPE and waiting for the OTA. If i can get my hands on it, i´ll upload it, but i think
somebody will be faster due the way of getting chosen for the update in the first days.
There will most likely be a rom built from source before the OTA is out. That has been the way this update has gone. The source is uploaded first before the OTA is pushed. HEck the nexus 4 had the source and img files uploaded for almost 2 days before the OTA was pushed out.

Because I fear the D800 version of Lollipop will take years to come out, as they continually do with updates, this way they can force people to upgrade to new phones.
hell, they've had the AtriX HD KK update for months now and won't release it lol. So it's hard to believe they will update this version of the phone.

That's aosp and cm ROMs only which a lot of nexus user's have different taste and don't run those kind of ROMs plus I doubt we actually take any great benefits from 5.1.1 aosp compare to a factory image 5.1.1 update for our specific device which should actually have some Fix's that would actually benefit us.

lol, whats in aosp is what youll get in the 5.1.1 stock image, it wont be different as you put it. and yes, theres code in it to benefit the n6. if it was different, it would be called something different, like 5.1.2 for example.

LG is a big pendejo cellphone maker
IF they was more inteligent they will make alliance with the XDA developers community
but they have a cocky attitude about the bootloader thing
and they blame the Big carriers about it
basically they wash their hands off
Thing is they make good bang for the bucks phones
I like the G2 a lot price/performance ratio wise
In the other hand
Huwawei is very good at making friends in the cell market with the developers
The latest NEXUS cell is made by them and is fully open
Samsung is not my cup of tea
and the top chinese manufacturers are not fully implementing the US GSM LTE bands...
when MEIZU , XIAMOI or LETV make something really compatible i will look to jump in to one
