I've found a couple forums on this but no solutions. Can anyone confirm a working fast charge USB cable other than the stock LG 3' long one?
Here is the closest thread I found..

How to know which chargers/cables are compatible?
I want to know this for my car charger

Best buy sells 15watt rapid chargers for car and wall. . There like $30 each but they do a good job. Think the brand name is rocket fish. Just bought 2 a few weeks ago.

Thanks. But chargers are easy to find. What is difficult to find is a USB cable to work. You'll see in the thread I linked on the first post, lots of people are having challenges with finding USB cables to work even if a charger is well above 2 amps. Even using the stock LG charger, no USB cables seem to work except the one that came with the phone, to eliminate the "slow charge" icon and allow around 1500mA of current to be drawn from the charger like it should in a fast charge..
what cable are you using with your new charger? And do you get the slow charging icon?
I think it all boils down to the charging base... I have used the LG, various Htc and Samsung base units with all kinds of mini & micro USB cables without any issues... The base units are rated from 800mA~1.5 and have not had any slow charging issues... I've only experienced the slow charging when connected to the PC or some car chargers...

I used to run a 1.5' usb cable from monoprice and the GPS on my phone would discharge the battery faster than it could be charged. Now the phone charges so much faster.
I have yet to have a problem with any of the generic monoprice cables and wall charges I bought a couple years ago. Only time I get a slow charge notification is using my 1a car charger. My Optimus G and HTC One X chargers and cable work fine as well.
IT IS NOT THE CHARGER!!
It is something in the cable. And good luck finding one. If you use the included USB cable that came with the G2, then it will charge on ANY charger "normally" (fast charge). If you use ANY OTHER cable, it will slow charge.
I don't know what is in the cable or why it makes a difference, but none of my USB cords/chargers work unless I use the INCLUDED USB CABLE.
I had a thread on this already somewhere in the General Area I think. It REALLY sucks because I have TONS of chargers and cables. I have some at work, home office, bedside, 2 in my car, friends cars, etc. I DO use Wireless Charging at night and luckily the phone has a huge battery to last through the day.
There IS a problem here but my thread got ignored like, "I don't see a problem here, just use the included cable". Well yea if I stayed home all the time. My work makes me travel for work so I have to make sure I remove the 1 working cable and carry it with me EVERYWHERE. What a pain in the butt.
Has anyone tried on custom roms to see if perhaps it is something just on the stock software telling it to go Slo-Mo.
My Verizon non usb attachment cable charges fast. My OEM Spectrum cable does as well. My dual one amp car charger charges slow no matter the cable, and my works Motorola and Kyocera cable charges slow no matter the connection. I have a couple Samsung's I need to test. I do not own any generics. I have not tried other combos.

LG Spectrum cable does not work, slow charge, my fault.
However, the straight plug from my new Verizon car charger does work, the USB port also (ONLY with G2 cable so far[tested lg spectrum, Motorola, Samsung, and Kyocera. Older cables]).
Recap: So far ONLY Direct car charger or USB G2 cable has fast charged. Must be chipped or using some different wire combo?

Ok. I can confirm that the cable used for the Nexus 7 (2012) works.
Also, the original cable for the Samsung Skyrocket works.
Works meaning fast charge.
I can't gurantee that this is the cable, but my skyrocket cable does look like the top cable here:
http://www.ebay.com/bhp/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-usb-cable
(Charger looks like it too, but the charget won't fast charge G2)
Edit:
The Skyrocket was really picky about cables/chargers. If it didn't have the correct one, it would wakelock. Maybe there's something with the way it's wired that makes it good for the G2 as well.

I wonder if one of these would help:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004YX4HDU...UTF8&colid=30QBEX6L12GNN&coliid=IG0PDK7SARZGV
It's something to do with pins 2&3 being bridged that enables a cable to support fast charge.
That adapter linked above is supposed to do that.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. It may be the software in the phone that is causing the issue. I had to replace my car charger so I picked up a rocketfish 3.0 amp charger. When I originally used it, it was ridiculously fast, literally 30% in about 30 or so minutes.
Now, here's why I don't think it has anything to do with the charger cables. When I got my phone, I kept putting off doing the first update because I wasn't sure if I was going to root this phone. During this time, I got very good charging speeds from my rocketfish 3.0 amp car charger and many of my other rapid chargers. When I decided I wasn't going to root, I went ahead and downloaded the update. Now, unless I'm using the cable that came with the phone, I get the slow charging message with every single charger. I went from 30% in 30 to about 10% in 30 on my car charger.
I may need to pull out my tinfoil hat, but it would be a pretty huge coincidence that all my charging woes began with that update.
Yea something isn't right. I have a GNex, G2, Nexus 7 2012 and 2013. I always check for AC charging in Settings>Status. It will say AC or USB. When I got my Nexus 7s I replaced all of my chargers with fast chargers. For 2 years I've been fast charging. I got 3 different fast USB chargers on my desk, using the existing setup, Everything fast charges except the G2. If I use the included G2 cable, it will fast charge off all of them. The same with ALL of my home/office/car/travel chargers.
I can only get it to fast charge when I use the included USB cable.
Its something magical with that cable.

I haven't even unwrapped the charging base and usb cable that came with my G2, they still remain in the box. I have been using the charging bases from my Nexus 4, L9, Htc One X, Motorola Atrix and a GS3 through out my house and have mixed cables from god only knows where and all of them work. I get no slow charging from any combination. Even using mini usb cables with micro usb adapters attached and they all still work. I've checked all the output voltages and the lowest one is 800mA. Granted my D801 is rooted, but no custom rom as of yet.

Have you gotten an OTA update?
I'm on the Verizon model. The other guy here said he only started having problems after the Verizon OTA.

Here's my theory,
There are chips either in the battery, the transformer, or both. When the phone doesn't detect what's required, it gives a slow charge message and reduces the charge speed. I have had previous phones with batteries that had built in chips that I had to buy because the generic batteries without the chips wouldn't work as well. I haven't taken a good look at the battery, and the transformer seems abnormally large, when I get a chance and some spares, I'll probably take them apart.
My tinfoil hat is telling me that LG is trying to rope us into buying first-party accessories, but it may also be a way to regulate battery health. Having a non-removable battery, it may be a move by LG to extend the life of the battery as long as possible.
Also, I just rooted my phone and so far no change. I will try the car charger tomorrow.
No updates from Tmobile as of yet... I can only imagine the frustration though. You would think LG would have made charging the phone, regardless of the model more standard across the board.

800mA is a slow charge... You should average 1700mA. Our cable is five pinned (if that matters). I need grab the mA reader app again. Now we know there is kernel check for flux ect. I want to know if the cable is pre chipped as well for check and regulation, isn't too uncommon. I'm beginning to lean more on an over aggressive kernel check though or possibly a combo of kernel and certain chip model check. I just find it odd my straight Verizon car charger and only this cable is working for me. Gonna check car cable pins in the morning. Verizon here, OTA taken. Did not check before.
All of my previous phones' chargers have been like 1A and usb 2.0. The note 3 quite obviously differs in both of those respects. Now, I know that I can charge my note 3 using all my old chargers no problem, even if it's a little slow. But, I've got two questions.
1. Does the usb 3.0 allow more current to the phone or just faster data transfer? i.e. Am I losing anything by using the note 3 wall wart with a usb 2.0 cable?
2. If a usb 2.0 will still deliver the same amperage: Say I left the 2A charger with a usb 2.0 lying around and someone with a less powerhungery phone comes along and plugs in, will that damage their device?
Any help is much appreciated.

1. USB 2.0 and 3.0 charge the same. The extra pins are only for data.
2. No problem. Devices only pull as much current as they need.
Im not sure if anyone would be familiar with this, but on my samsung galaxy nexus there was an option that was universal on all kernels called "USB fast charge"
which basically all it did was cancel out the support of file transfer while connected through USB, but in return gave much higher charging speeds through USB. With it enabled my galaxy nexus would charge almost 4x faster.
Is there an option for this on the note 3? I have not rooted yet, but will in the next few days. I understand its up to the kernel dev's and whatnot to implement it in, but is this feature available on the note 3?

Bootloader Locked, can't flash Kernels, but the Note3 charges pretty damn fast using the Stock Cable plugged into an A/C outlet.
Total Segue here, but as a Brother to two gay siblings and an Uncle to a gay nephew, can we refrain from using the therm "that's so gay" when it comes to something derogatory?

with the wall charger the note 3 came with, reallly fast. Just as fast as you stated. But through USB, slow as molasses, probably 1% every 5 minutes. which is why i was wondering if the USB fast charge option was available. On my galaxy nexus charging through USB, it was just as slow. With USB fast charge turned on, it charged as fast as a wall charger through USB.

Hmmmmm, odd. Does your machine have USB3 ports? I know that's supposed to be good for only speedy file transfers, but I wonder if it also speeds up Charging? I've just never noticed slow trickle charging from my computer. The only time it's slow is when I use a regular USB2 cable in the car....then it's slower than molasses in January.

I do have USB3 available on my computer, but havnt tried it for charging yet. So far my USB charging has been done through my car which is some random usb 2 cable. Which now that i think about it i believe its only a 1 amp charger in my car, if that. It was enough for my galaxy nexus but probably not so for the note 3. The note 3 wall charger is i believe 2.0 amps?
Im wondering if charge rates matter through usb2 / 3.
If i get a 2.0 amp car charger and use it with a usb 2 cable, will i still achieve 2 amp charging speed? Or for the note 3, i have to use a usb 3 cable?

Not sure. My Laptop has a USB port that charges devices even when the Laptop is turned off, but I do know that my Nexus required less juice to charge up, where the N3 doesn't keep up when I charge it in the car, so I think it's the 1 / 2amp question
I love my G2 and have been running it stock unrooted for almost a week now but I'm confused about the charging speed. I have two LG phones, the G2 d800 and Optimus G Pro e980. My G Pro is rooted running a custom 4.3 Rom.
My issue is when I plug the G2 to my computer using the stock cable it came with from the store it immediately goes to slow charging mode. It'll take hours and hours to charge up from about 50%. With the same exact cable setup when I plug my G Pro it only takes about a hour and a half to charge to 100% and that's from about 15 - 20%. This makes me think it has nothing to do with the cable I'm using. It's plugged directly to a USB 3.0 port in the back of my computer. If I use the wall charger with the same cable the G2 charges just fine. idk.
My G Pro used to have this issue but after going custom roms it never had that problem again... it always charges crazy fast now. I don't really want to install custom on my G2 right now I'm actually enjoying the stock experience again I was missing it with my G Pro.
Anyone else have this issue?
It has everything to do with cable, and kernel/binaries. USB 3 and steady voltage requires a thicker power AWG. The kernel and or binaries limit it to slow charge per voltage for safety and stability. The phone states it's USB 3 capable, but I assume only on the power side, as the 5 pins on the phone isn't enough to handle the full data speeds of USB 3, it requires 9. If you look inside the port though, on the phone, there looks to be extra pins.... maybe LG plans to release a special USB 3 cable? Just speculation. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460881
I noticed that when stock, or using stock-based ROM's it goes into slow charging mode if you use anything other than the stock LG charger and cable. When I install CM10-11 it charges fast on all cables.
It does not. Use a mA reader. The notification is just simply removed.
hmmmm now I'm wondering if the battery level my G Pro is showing me is accurate or what.. the G2 battery lasts considerably longer than the G Pro when both say they're fully charged. I'll try new cables and maybe finally get a second battery for my G Pro and see if it still charges as fast as it's saying. Thanks for the replies guys. :good:
They are both charging at the same rate. The G2 just has a higher capacity. The notification seems to pop at 1A or lower. You're gonna need a high quality 24 AWG or lower cable to draw high amperage from the phone. I posted a working one from newegg. The stock G2 cable will also fast charge it from the USB 3 port (if the port is configured correctly with good drivers for charging switch). The problem is voltage droop in combo with this phones kernel or binaries. There isn't much getting around it on the USB port. A quality cable will counteract this with less droop on the bottom end.
Not sure if the latest update caused issues, or its a fault on my phone.
But i have just been trying to charge my One plus5 from a normal 5v charger.
This would normally give me around >1000mA charge
But I've tried a few chargers, and different cables and all i can get now is less than 200mA.
BTW, My normal dash charger charges correctly
Any suggestion on this fault?
Would i need to do a reinstall on my phone? or could this be hardware?.
Edited to add:
coudln't charge off any other cable other than the supplied Oneplus charger cable. All other charges would give either no charge or reduced to 10% of normal mAh.
No other cable than the original could be used for data. many other cables were tried, all failed.
Thanks in advance

How did you measure it? Maybe the port isn't clean which results in lowered current. It's surely not an software issue.
I have an app called Ampere, that i have used regularly for the past couple of years and it shows the amp useage. Its actually really quite useful as you can see which of your cables are cack. (some cables have really poor connectivity)
I had also noticed that it can take literally hours to recharge now via USB (non-dash).
I updated to Marshmallow recently.. but that may be a pure coincidence..

Ampere is indeed a good app. But what do you mean with marshmallow? On op5?
Also what's with the cleaning of the port, which is the most obvious reason when you tested cables and chargers? How's your device temperature?
oops, my mistake.. not marshmallow.. Android 9, which is Pie.
The phone feels ok temperature wise, and I've given the port a good blow but I've got an air canister back home so will try that later.. good suggestion though.
but, btw, when i use my Dash charger, everything is fine. could fluff affect one and not the other?
