Fair enough , as for android, you will need an sdcard. A lot of your media, music, pictures etc is stored on the sdcard. Assuming you have an international HD2 (not tmous), most recent roms require an ext4 partition on the sdcard too.
As for broken/outdated links, there may well be mirrors posted in the threads too (search thread for "mirror"). Some people still have certain roms on hdd, so try to post on the thread for a mirror (you have <10 posts, so your post will be redirected to new q&a thread, but we will still see it). Some Devs have requested in the first post that no mirrors be posted for their roms, there is not a lot we can do about that besides asking them for a policy change.
Hope this helps

Hd2 512mb rom

Hiya, I have a UK version HD2 which I bought a while ago. I have read for quite a while, that you can upgrade the ROM to 512MB instead of the 448MB it is right now.
I have looked on the forum, for instructions and a ROM to do that, but I have not been able to find it.
I would appreciate it if anybody could post a link to that thread if it already exists, or possibly tell me how to do that.
I also read about Dual Booting the HD2, does anybody know how that worked out and if it is available for download?
And finally, I would like to ask a question to other HD2 owners, do you find that your phone gets really sluggish?? how do you overcome that? and as there is a very limited amount of memory, how do you overcome not running out of the memory??
I usually have only about 2/3MB left of Phone Memory for some reason, however, I do have a 16GB Card which as about 8GB free.
Thanks in advance.

As mentioned in various Rom Threads it is a Matter of Radio Version. Check the Radio Thread for
2.07.50.xx
2.08.50.xx

As far as i know this is not yet possible. You can however launch android ontop of windows. Check the various threads about that for more info's

You might want to take a look at cleanram to help free up some ram...for sluggishness, i suggest you look for an application called cleartemp which clears your temporary files which can really take up a lot of space!

[Q] Most common questions of all times on HD2 Android!

Hello Guys;
I am so tired of this! I tried what I could to understand the benefit of ClockwarkMod & Recovery Mod! What is the difference between them & why should we use it while we have the NAND? I have HD2.
I have many data in my SD card, will they wipe all my life's information if I used one of the methods?
If I tried to get one of the ROMs I find only three files!!! META-INF, system and (I don't recall the 3rd one) sorry! How will I flash those?!
Also, there are some ROMs which have the word ZIP before the name! AND the App2SD or Ext2SD? What are those!!!!!!
I am sure that one of you will find me boring, but to be honest, at least I have learned things @ the XDA where things are explained more efficiently, I have reached a level where I can flash a NANA Android (cause it is simple) and that was from the help of XDA, on top of that, I am the only person among 2000 people who knows how to deal with the HD2!
I apologize for the way I am asking your help but it is the only way I have, and I am desperate as well. I am sure I will understand is steps are mentioned by degrees and I will promise I will understand because I am waiting for someone to reply, hopefully!
However I'm massively confused and I would appreciate XDA members who can help me grasp, comprehend & assimilate the methods mentioned above. Please help!!!
THANK YOU XDA and Members, cheers…
Cool font bro
IT BURNS IT BURNS! MY EYES!!!
I could not read one line of what you wrote because of that font... And I bet that not much people will read it because of that not-so-good font and style...

I been a self-confessed flash addict for a lonnngggg time, and i hate all this clockwork stuff, ext2,3...4...blah blah.
While i appreciate every single breath the Devs take, I stick with simple NAND DFT...double click, wait 2 mins...done!!
tried clockwork stuff....zero diff to me.

The font really burns the eyes had to highlite it to read it lol
Anyway, the benefit of using clockwork recovery is definitely worth it.
It offers easy backups of your data or even the entire rom to your sd card...
It allows you to use the zip files(be it the rom itself or update or kernel or whatever) with out unzipping straight from the sd card, meaning u dont need a to flash the rom using your pc u just simply put the zip file on the sd card and do it thru clockwork.
Whats awesome you can store multiple backups of different roms on your sd card and be anywhere without your pc and just switch from rom to rom.
you can even download the roms straight into the sd card using your phone totally bypassing the use of the computer
once an updated rom version comes out all you have to do is put in on your sd card rename it "update.zip" and you can update it keeping all your files and settings (data)
App2sd is used when you want to give your phone more storage space (especially if you dont have the us version of hd2 leo that has the 1024mb rom(internal memory)
this way you can install more applications or store more data on your sd card
Hopefully this helps you out a little bit
Thanks yall! I'm sorry for the font!

[Q] HD2: Switching ROM to ROM

So I purchased an HD2 from someone and it already has android ported to it. I dont like the ROM that is currently on it and i'm wantign to change it to the Desire HD ROM but I'm sorta stuck.
What steps do I have to do in order to do this? Do I have to remove the current ROM and install the new one? Can I just install the new one on the SD card and *BAM* thats it? do i have to clean the traces of the old ROM?
I have a million questions basically. Can SOMEBODY give me step by step instructions of how to do this or give me a link on how to do this?
To make a build work from the SD card, you need to have Windows Mobile OS.
If you want Android working from Nand, just boot into MAGLDR, hardreset your NAND memory, this will wipe the NAND;
Then enter USB Flasher mode in MAGLDR and either you can flash a new ROM or flash CWM Recovery - a tool from which you can install zipped ROM files from your SD.
Basically, chose the ROM you like to install on your device, and follow the steps provided there, those steps will be sufficient to wipe the previous ROM and install the new one.

Dude, you're a duchebag. Why would I come to a forum (not just a forum, but a Q&A forum) if I havent already looked. Thats why I hate XDA, jacka**es like you and every other "senior member" on this dang website. I come here for help and get insulted by you.
Now who looks like the dumba**? The person that actually needs help or the person that takes to time to not only point out that your a "noob" but also gives you links the the forum that I was already on.
I wish that there was another webiste other than XDA that was interested in HELPING PEOPLE. Rather than just putting them down. The "senior members" need to take a look at themselves and come off their high and mighty cloud and actuall take the time to help the ones that need it.
Wow, no need to be so harsh. And if you keep that up you'll just help turn this into a flame thread, hence the lock down of this thread by a mod. Look at the second link he gave you, it contains links to all the useful information about a HD2, and the answers to your question.
Anyways, look at this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021837
That thread will give you all the answers, read, read, read, I'm dead serious, it has all the answers.
Read the whole thing.
Best of luck.

Start by going to the windows mobile 6.5 dev thread and in the sticky you will find the task29 without mtty thread, get it. Check what radio you're running and if you don't have the 2.15.50, get it from the same sticky. Now come to android nand dev and find the latest MGLDR and get that too, find a rom you would like to use, find the partition size for such rom and get it.
Now start by task29.
Flash 2.15.50 radio if you don't have it.(if you do skip it)
Flash MGLDR- Either thru DAF or RUU.
Flash Clockworkmod recovery with needed partition.
Copy all your SD card content to pc and within clockworkmod advanced settings, format SD card to 1024mb with 0 swap.
Drop into the SD card the rom zip only and flash it, once done you can transfer the rest of your stuff back to the SD card from pc.
I hope this can help you a bit with your learning of android flashing in the hd2

does somebody knows a good video to install android on the htc hd2 with htc sense ?
You should search in the Hd2 section btw...........but this thread is a good start
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.

Yeah, please search in the future.
Although it isn't a video tutorial, this guide couldn't be clearer.

Well then there really is no need for a video guide because it couldn't be simpler. You should also make yourself clearer in the OP, saves everyone time.
1. Update to the latest stock ROM 3.14 with radio 2.15.50
2. Download a ROM from the SD section
3. Place the folder labelled Android (it may have a different name, but it is essentially the folder in which the files are directly stored) on the root of your SD card
4. In WinMo go to the file explorer, open the file explorer and run CLRCAD then HARET.
5. After first boot, reboot a few times then enjoy Android
thank you Nigeldg

Here's is a few video's about the question you have along with a useful video about XDA.
1. Useful video on being new to XDA
2. Several video's about installing Android onto the HD2 can be found here and here (if you want a sense ROM download a sense
ROM instead of the one in the video) the steps however will be the same for either
3. re-read each step several times over and try to get an understanding of whats going on
BEFORE you begin to flash the ROM over
4. if you are stuck and can't figure it out use the search button to try and find answers, still stuck
open a thread up and ask for help
5. I'd also like to add that if your really desperate there are tutorials you can buy on ebay ($2-$10 normally) and a person on
facebook found here that will do it for you for an enormous charge. I think its under LARIS in the middle of the page
Hopefully this will get you going and you can use the video's along with the guides other member's have provided already. I
forgot to add that there is a really great site that has a great video on installing Android along with some other useful video's
like reverting back to stock and how to load a custom ROM with easy step by step instructions. Here's the link to that.

Unable to boot Android using haret on HTC Leo

Hi
Using HTC Leo with Windows 6.5 from US T mobile.
Was able to boot to Android twice using Haret.exe. Booting into Android had pattern lock (which was never set previously) or google account (no one used Android on the device). Removed the battery and booted into Windows 6.5, not sure of the Android version copied on the device.
Am now unable to boot into Android again, it stops at jumping to kernel... need to remove battery to boot into Windows.
Am a novice and need your detailed expert assistance.
Appreciate your guidance.
Rgds..
Zac
Hi Zac, welcome to the forum.
Did you buy the device with an android build on the sdcard? Else how do you not know which android rom is on it?
What is the folder name which has haret.exe in it and what other files are in that folder?

My cousin used it in USA and gave it when visiting. He never made any changes on the device - did not even know Android folder existed. I was browsing through the CD card contents and found it.
It is on my Storage card under Android folder- has CLRCAD and HARET exe files.
Thanks
i would forget about using that android folder and either choose another one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/hd2-android/sd-dev
or choose to install a rom using NativeSD method, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986437
or perhaps get rid of wm6.5 altogether and install android or wp7
best of luck

a working link to which particular rom?
we have an unwritten rule that says do not ask "what is the best rom" since that is a personal choice. So i won't just give you a link to my fav(s)
some links are old and not working, if i have the rom on my hdd i can usually upload a mirror for it, or someone else might if requested to in the thread, unless the OP (original poster/post) of the rom thread specifically states "no mirrors". It is usually worth searching the thread for "mirror" and reading the last few pages, as someone may well have already posted a mirror.
