Super overpriced or super outside of your price range? Find me another 6" superphone with those specs for less money.
As far as why they look the same- it's called design language. It's why all HTCs look similar, why all Samsungs are carbon copies of each other, and why all LGs are hideous.

OnePlus One is way cheaper and almost as good if not better (in my opinion), I am a little disappointed with the nexus 6, and I really don't care for how big the screen is on it, I actually wish it was a little smaller or the same size as N5, also most phones are coming with at least 3GB ram nowadays why hold back on .3 if its gonna be an expensive phone anyway?

I had and sold the OnePlus One. It wasn't worth a penny more than what they were asking for it. Crappy build quality, defective screens, poor call quality, and buggy software. OnePlus is a bargain basement Chinese brand that failed to deliver on their promise. Motorola and Google they are not. Not to mention the N6 has a faster SOC, better screen, better build quality, better support, better everything.

That 300mb is taken by the gpu or reserved for something else. Open up CPU-Z and you will see that your phone has some missing too! Doesn't mean it's not there. It's been this way since day one!

The 6 is a bigger more premium X
Its perfectly clear market segmentation and all 3 belong in the same family.

Verizon doesn't Sim lock any of their 4g devices. So as long as it has the frequencies that your carrier requires then yes it should work, required you update the apns for your carrier.

Yup. G2 and G3 are the most beautiful Android phones on the market, the least bezels, gorgeous screens, innovative button placement, and a skin much better than TW, and both have easy root, unlocked bootloaders and dev support.
They could have at least made it thinner, but 10.1mm? Sh**t!

I couldn't disagree more. I think their physical designs are bland at best and hideous at worst, their button placement is unintuitive and awkward, and they've officially beaten Touchwiz with the world's ugliest Android skin. They may have great screens and super slim bezels, but that's not enough to make up for everything else.
Of course, this is only my opinion. I'm a tough one to please.
I have only used Moto's not actually owned them so my view might be skewed. The reason they look all the same is cause of costs. You don't really need to pay anything extra if you have the same design everywhere. You just pay extra depending on what and how much material you use.

while I do agree most LG are kinda ugly the Nexus 4 and 5 were extremely beautiful and well designed imho, minimalistic at its best, motorola design is just....ugly and seems outdated
and for that price range?, the appeal of the nexus line was its affordable price for great specs, it's what made the nexus 5 stand out from the competition when it came out, now?, I just don't get why I would get a gigantic phablet nexus 6 when I could get a Galaxy s5, and HTC one m8 (or the mini HTC M which looks incredible) or the xperia Z

10mm measured down the center top to bottom...... it curves off to somewhere around 3mm on the edges. In terms of the cross sectional profile the N6 would displace less than the Note 4 brick everyone is comparing it to. I'd rather have a phone that's 10mm tapering off to 3 or 4mm which will be much more comfortable in the hand, than a same size brick that's 9mm (or whatever the competition is) thick everywhere.

I do agree that both the N4 and N5 are great looking phones. The N4 more so. The N5 actually looks and feels like a reference design and not something that was designed to be mass marketed, but again, it's still an attractive handset.
As for the price, what I think people are forgetting is that there have been more full priced Nexus devices than cheap ones. Only the N4 and N5 were priced like they were stolen. I was surprised with the N6's pricing like everyone else, but I certainly don't think it's overpriced at all, considering what you're getting.
And as far as Motorola's designs are concerned, I absolutely love them. They aren't supposed to be flashy, and their ergonomics are unmatched. The original Moto X made me a Motorola fan for life.
I loved My Epic 4G Touch but every Samsung phone has been a disappointment to me since. To their credit though, I do like the way the Alpha and Note 4 look but TouchWiz is an absolute deal breaker. I loved HTC, was a huge fan of the One X, but the M7 and M8 aren't for me. And yeah, the Xperia Z3 is insanely cool looking. The moral of the story is to each their own.

I think the main issue is that people need to stop looking at it as a "Premium Moto X". If you're going to compare it to anything, it makes a bit more sense to say it's an off-contract ever-so-slightly downgraded Note 4 for $175 less.

First I could not buy a G3 because the rounded corners was something I could not live with. The corners on the Note 2 are NOT rounded as much, and with a Otterbox case will be not as noticeable. The specs on the note 2 are almost perfect. The PPI is a bit lower but what I've been reading not that noticible.
The LG Optimus G has a PPI of 440 and I am sure the screen will appear much finer and crisper. The negative aspects of the Optimus G however could be a bit scarry...bad support, and a bad reputation for not supporting their phones.
The HTC One X+ specs are not very clear at this point, so it is an unknown at this point. The One X was inviting to me style wise, but the phone does NOT multitask, add in a non removeable battery and no card slot, and you have to run the other way. The update to Jelly Bean may fix the multitasking issue, but that remains to be seen.
One the Note's plus side, we also have a removeable battery, and a 64gb SD card slot, a notification LED,and NON PENTILE amoled display, 2 gigs of RAM, quadcore processor, all of which makes it quite inviting. I really cant think of any negative aspects to the phone at this point.
I've been on my Atrix 4G since March of 2011 and it has served me well. I got the Nexus 7 and that has satisfied my tablet craving for sure. The Nexus 7 has a LAG ISSUE which I assume google will address and fix at some point.
Switching between my Atrix with its 4" screen, and the Nexus' 7" screen is interesting. My Atrix actually runs smoother and so upgrading the phone to something a little bigger, faster, and better is very critical to me.
We may not know exactly what the negative aspects of the Note 2 are until it is released. I learned a hard lesson with the Nexus 7. With all the hype and great reviews of it, NOONE mentioned the lag issues and other quirks. If the Note performs and feels as good as I think it will, I may sell the Nexus 7 if the wife doesnt want it .
So really the main point here is I wouldnt preorder ANYTHING anymore until it is relased to the public and vetted because everyone, the companies, the reviewers, the magazines, all want to hype everything to death, even before it is released, AND there has only been ONE main report on the serious NEXUS LAG ISSUE even months after it has been released and well known. What I can say for sure is that I'll never buy an Iphone.
Depends what you are after and use your phone for, but all 3 seems they will be very nice on their own way.
I always get all new phones and normally use 2 phones at a time, one for daily use and one play phone. In the end i always end up using phones i thought I should use last.
Like now after a good while on s3 i did go back to my HoX as I just like that screen and feeling of the phone..
But the device i really want is Lumia 920 tho, but till that comes I for sure gonna give note2 and ip5 and other nice devices a shot..
Skickat från min HTC One X via Tapatalk 2
I was all for the Optimus G initially. The "poor support" thing did concern me but I figured the devs on xda would more than cover that. I could even just about tolerate the non removable battery.. But the lack of an SD card slot just killed it. I bought a 64GB Micro SD not long ago and I wouldn't have any use for it.
The HOX+ looked interesting too but just like the LGOG, the lack of expandable memory is a deal breaker for me.
That left the GNote2.. Big screen, RBG as opposed to pentile, user-replaceable battery (I have an extended battery in my GS2 now), more than ample internals for what I plan to use it for, it's a Sammy flagship (good support), and of course, expandable memory.
Imho, the GNote2 is the way to go, but of course, that's just me

I'm getting the Note II...soon. The LG Optimus G has amazing specs. That processor may be faster than the Exynos 5250 when it comes out. It will undoubtedly the fastest processor until then. We'll just have to wait and see. But after much research, there are so many people saying they'll never buy LG phones again and they regret buying it. 2 years is a long time to live with buyer's remorse. Phone looks great, but the warning screams are too loud to ignore.
The HTC One X+, I thought for a long time that people who used the HTC One X absolutely loved their phones, and I think this is still true. However, I have followed some users who have the privilege of owning both HTC One X and Galaxy S3 who have given equal face time with both phones, and the it is clear the HTC One X has flaws with how their multitasking is implemented that it unnecessarily wares on your patience, time, and battery power. If you don't own both devices, you probably don't know what you are missing.

I have the Moto X on Verizon and bought the Nexus 5 and had to get T-Mobile on it. So my vote is skewed because Verizon is 10x better here. But I love both, I do miss the Moto X's notifications and camera flip when using the Nexus. However I like the Nexus' camera much better but it feels almost too big in my hand. Plus the Moto X getting 4.4 will make software comparisons pointless. So honestly right now I'm kinda leaning towards selling the Nexus and staying with the X. But I have 29 days left on my prepaid T-Mobile so we'll see as it goes

I had a look at that thread. Some of those guys were pretty rabid.
Reposted from same thread in N5 forum-
Yeah I'm gonna have to agree with all these points here. I MUCH prefer the screen on the Moto X to the one on the N5. I get that colors may be more accurate on the N5 but I'm not a photographer and my phone isn't supposed to be a reference monitor. The Moto X's screen just pops and its black levels are ridiculous. It's absolutely gorgeous and it is very difficult to use the N5 next to the Moto X. Lets not forget about the fact that the amoled technology allows for active notifications which are hands down the best thing since sliced bread. When not comparing it directly to the Moto X's screen, the N5's is passable, but its bad black levels and poor viewing angles are somethings that will take me a while to get used to.
I also agree about the speed. Anybody who makes the claim that the X uses outdated tech has no clue. It has krait 300 cores which are the same ones that are in the S600 which was this years main flagship SoC. Now it's not an S800, but it is current tech and the way Moto designed it with its extra "contextual computing" cores makes it MORE advanced than basic S600s. The fact that its dual core setup runs circles around the quad core that's in the GS4 and HTC One speaks volumes about optimization vs. raw power. I'm not talking about BS benchmarks here, I am talking about actual use because that is what matters. Side by side with the N5 there is no noticeable speed difference and both phones are equally smooth and lag free. I will say this though, for gaming the N5 is an absolute beast. The X handles gaming well too with its adreno 320 only having to deal with a 720p screen, but man this N5 might be the ultimate gaming phone thus far (Note 3 is too big for my liking). I've hidden my navbar so I game on it full screen. NOVA3, MW4, and NFS:MW are friggin unreal on this thing. If gaming is your primary concern, the N5 is definitely the way to go.
Cameras are a wash for me because I don't take many pictures. They are both acceptable to me. Can't say which one is better because I don't know. I like the fact that the N5 has OIS, but mainly because it adds extra bragging rights. No clue if it actually helps or not.
The biggest thing for me between these two phones besides the screen is the feel. Where the N5 literally feels like a hollow store mockup to me, the X feels like a solid premium device. Its contours make it hands down the nicest feeling device in hand that I have ever used. The N5 at first felt very uncomfortable to hold but as I get used to it more and more I am starting to like the way it feels as well. I definitely like the way it feels in hand better than my old HTC One and GS4 Active, just not better than the Moto X. There is nothing that feels like a Moto X.
Just to clarify, I really do like the N5. It has been growing on me since I got it the other day. It's just hard for me to use it when I have a Moto X sitting right here too. Both are great devices, they both have their own merits, but for me the Moto X is still king. It's really the screen that kills it the most for me with the N5. If LG used a screen as nice as say the HTC One's, I might be singing a completely different tune here. I will definitely be using the N5 whenever I want to play a graphically intensive game though, because holy sh!t it handles them like a boss. You really can't go wrong with either phone, I think they are the two best phone currently available.

The size is my favorite part. I don't think it's badly priced for what it brings to the table either.

That was never an issue for the past two Nexus phones made by LG that had same sized LG counterparts.
They wanted a phablet so developers could develop for phablets. Why they did not also make a smaller Nexus 6 for the huge number of people who hate the size, I do not know, but I think their reasoning was stupid whatever it was.

Yeah, I can live with the price. It would be nice if it's cheaper. But I don't buy a new phone every year, so I can scrape together the money for the awesome specs (much better specs than the Moto X).
But I just don't want a huge phablet. Super disappointing to me. My sense is that the majority of users don't want a phablet (they currently only make up 14% of the global market).
I do understand though that there are many people who like phablets and so for them the Nexus 6 is an amazing device, really the best Nexus device yet and the nicest design since the Nexus One (LG and Samsung just make cheap designs, as far as I'm concerned).
I'm gonna definitely have to say the price.. my bank account is crying right now:crying:

There's no reason it had to be 10.1mm thick at its deepest points. Other similar phones have spaced in identical or larger batteries in a significantly thinner frame.

Yeah, I was definitely hoping there would be a second smaller Nexus 6. I would be happy with basically a Nexus version of the Moto X that it's based on, with the 5.2" screen. Although the OIS and the stereo speakers are nice, that's definitely an improvement over the Moto X. That said, I guess the best alternative for a smaller screen is the Moto X, though it will never get all the development and roms a Nexus device will have (the 1st Gen Moto X basically had no development).
Maybe you can just save your money and spend it at Moe's Books and Gordo's Burritos instead. There are more important things in life, right?

I think because it's so thin at the edges, there's less space for the components, which have to be more in the middle, than with a phone that has one even thickness edge to edge. I'm pretty sure that's why the battery in the 2nd Gen Moto X is relatively small, even though it's a pretty large 5.2" screen device. It's not about thickness at the middle, it's about overall internal volume and geometry of the phone.
My Note 3 already feels a tiny bit small.....the extra screen size will be welcome. Especially with front facing stereo speakers. It's like my wifes HTC One M8 but much nicer. The Note 4 moved back to a rear facing single speaker.......screw that noise. Price? I'll be edge'ing up to the N6 so it won't matter.
Neither. When looking at the complete line up, starting from the Nexus 5, Moto x (2nd gen), Nexus 6, Nexus 9.. Google caters to all tastes. As for the price, it is STILL competitive considering specs and materials. Google+Motorola+HTC did a great job by having something for everyone.

The Nexus 5 is a year old phone with year old specs. I do not count that as part of the current "lineup." It does not have a 64 GB option; it does not have 3 GB of RAM; it has last year's Snapdragon chipset with a slower CPU and GPU; it does not have Wifi Direct; it does not have stereo speakers; it has crappy noise cancellation. The Nexus 5 is a perfectly good phone, but it's last year's phone, and it's only going to get older and more out of date, while waiting for the next Nexus phone and hoping it has a smaller option.
The 2nd Gen Moto X is not a Nexus phone and will get zero development (like the 1st Gen Moto X). It will also be dependent on Motorola for Android updates, with inevitable (if hopefully short) delays, and will not work properly with direct updates from Google (which would disable the special Motorola features like active notifications and Moto voice). That definitely does not count as part of the Nexus lineup.
I think the only honest way to look at it is that the Nexus 6 is the new king of hill Nexus device. It has lots of great upgrades. It is one of the best phones currently out there. And if you don't like the screen size you are out of luck.
I agree with most of what you said, although the Nexus 5 is still and will probably be amazing for several upcoming months. Hell, I would reccommend people to upgrade to it - those that need an upgrade but are turned off by the Nexus 6.

Yeah, the Nexus 5 is great (except for the crappy noise cancellation), no doubt about it. But it is a fary cry from the Nexus 6. It is in no way a smaller but otherwise equivalent device.
The size is just too damn big! Couldn't they stay at a 5" screen!
In another thread someone pointed to a more complex poll with more respondents on this question (size and price) at Reddit. So if you like voting in polls, here's another chance.

Interestingly, despite have many more respondents, its results are similar to my poll.
Just to keep up with the previous models, here's a thread dedicated to the New Nexus 6 made by Motorola. Unfortunately since we still dont have a official Google Play store for Pakistan, we will have to rely on inflated prices on the phone being brought in by importers or shopkeepers.
Feel free to give info on price and availability of the phone in all regions of Pakistan, along with any advice or accessories.
For those who dont know, a brief overview of the phone is,
It is made by Motorola
5.95 inch full HD Amoled screen (almost 500ppi)
Qualcomm 805 processor with 3gb ram
32gb/64gb memory
3220mah battery
13mp back camera with f2.0, front 2.0mp
Water resistant
Wireless charging
NFC
Android 5.0 lollipop

So how many, if any of you guys plan to upgrade to the N6...??
I think for me the biggest boner kill is the price... Its just too much unfortunately...
Since retail is $650 in the U.S... I doubt you can find it for less than Rs.80k in pak then...

That's a pretty ridiculous benchmark in my opinion. 4 years ago people said anything bigger then 4.0" is nonsense when the Galaxy S came out, and now it seems you can't even find phones with 4" screens now.
The basis is not really the screen size as much as the shell/case that holds the screen. Take a look at the Sharp Aquos Crystal for example. Although it is a 5.0" screen, the phone is SMALLER than the Nexus 4 which you are using with its 4.7" screen.
I'm sure noone would have any problem with a 5.5"- 6" screen as long as the footprint of the phone isn't too big and the battery life is good, which unfortunately isn't the case with the nexus 6.

I did see the sharp, pretty sleek device. Non gsm tho but anyways it's beauty. Thanks for mentioning that wish we could have the supported version here in pakistan. Now back to discussion not to the argument.
Fee-fi-fo-fum, Phone-Phablet-Tablet, 5.0"-7.0"-9.0".
(I'll be exact if you are going to pin point that as well 5.3", 6.9", 8.9")
So, where is our new Nexus phone? Affordable, purest form of android, easy to fit in back pocket, an ounce lighter, wasn't awkward in public, easy to make calls, easy to carry traveling on public transit, not having such a roman pearce forehead, remember?
Oh yeah, my bad they didn't make it.
Hence proved: nonsense.
Wish the new nexus so called Six was aquos*Crystal and Crystal X but let me pop the bubble by heavy heart *pop* but it's just isn't. You are welcome, mate. Hope you share the unboxing when you get your all new Motorola Google Nexus 6, phablet.

Your missing the point...
Firstly you were quite specific about anything bigger than 5.0" its nonsense... Nothing to do with affordability or weight etc. See I'm simply saying that's a very vague and unrealistic criteria, that just if its bigger than 5" its just ridiculous.
Secondly, to say a Nexus is MEANT to be affordable and small and easy to carry with the purest form of android is kind of a long stretch. Just if the last 2 nexus models which used hardware that was just a few months away from being outdated to keep the price low, doesn't mean that's what they are always supposed to do. This time they have added the top of the line latest hardware in the phone. Barely any phones had the 805 processor yet, so naturally it will come at a price, along with the massive battery.
I'm not going to lie, I'm also not too happy about the price or the size, but one can not say the price isn't justified considering the specs. Nor can one say its a bad phone for those reasons. I myself am leaning more towards the note4 or note edge, but one eye is nonetheless on the N6 if a good deal comes by.

How big is the difference in sizes ?
Who else is going to jump the ship for pure Android experience ?

I'd wait on the camera reviews. Then I'd try to hold a Nexus 6 and make sure its comfortable...it is also a thick phone. But I doubt I'd leave the G3.

For the size of the phone I think it's good that it has a decent thickness. Also it's really not that thick... It's just not iphone thin (I don't like how thin the iPhone is)

I'm very tempted to take advantage of my Jump and get the Nexus 6. The bigger size, dual front speakers, and stock Android are huge pluses in my book.
However, I fear the Nexus 6 will have a worse camera (despite having a sensor that's technically better than the one in the g3.. trust me, Motorola will find a way to screw this up) and the amoled screen is also a negative for me.
So overall I'll probably keep the g3.. hopefully we'll get Android 5.0 on it sooner than later.
Transmission sent from my LG G3.
Personally gonna wait for some sort of AOSP Rom for the G3.
I'd love to have another Nexus (had the 4 and still have the 5 as backup) but this bugger is waaaaay too big for me. I can just about handle the G3 with 1 and a half hand

Umm, not for me. If I want to carry something larger than the 5.5 inch screen I already have in the G3 I'll pull out the full sized tablet. If it had the excellent Multi window capabilities that Note 4 does and a stylus I might be more inclined to consider it.
As it is both taller than 6 inches and wider than 3 inches, both were my cutoffs for comfortable to hold in the hand - its simply too big for my hands.
Same prospect as the Iphone 6 Plus really - it's a huge unwieldy phone with no real use scenario that I can see.

After seeing this there's no way I want the nexus 6. I'm happy to wait for handsets with the snapdragon 810 then will be time to upgrade.
Way too big, way too expensive for a nexus. Not this year, i'm afraid.

Spot on, in both counts. Pure android is nice to philosophise about but a good deal of draw of the nexus line was surely price?
There is no circle case and SD card slot with the nexus 6.
But it looks very nice !
It's too big for me. The G3 is the biggest phone I want to deal with.
We need android L
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
I am. I like my G3, but I can't wait to no longer own this phone and be back on stock Android.
I feel there is no real advantage for the Nexus 6 other than the Android L.
It's too big, no sd storage, probably inferior camera, probably inferior sound quality and it will be likely that its Amoled display will be inferior as well. One great thing about the G3 and its RGB stripe display is that its effective resolution is higher than the comparable Amoled pentile displays. Some people don't notice it, but I find them to not have the same sharpness.
So far I have not found any phone that I would jump ship for. I had an IPhone 6 Plus for two weeks and I did like it mostly due to the software but I ended up returning it as the call quality and the camera were considerably worse than my G3. I gather I will be passing on the Note 4 because of its bulk, sound quality and pentile display. I'm one of those guys who loves to switch phones all the time but so far nothing this year is the equal of the G3. Maybe G4 next year?
The wife has a Jump to use and I feel like I should use it even though I still like G3. LoL. I like the Note 4 and Nexus 6. I'm pretty sure I can return a phone in 30 days with the discount I have on my account. Will the Nexus 6 be out in 30 days and if so can I return the Note 4 for it?
Been thinking and reading lots... And will probably take the jump as LG will take forever to push out Android L and I love the Android L stock look. Love the G3 but want the L experience unless we see a custom Rom. As I will wait for hands on reviews and pricing for UK.

Nexus 6?
I'm pretty sure I am going to own Nexus 6 but I'm unsure wether or not it will be my everyday phone I've gotten used to big phones and my personal favorite so far is still the note 3. After having seen the reviews of the Note 4 I don't I will buy it. A note 4 ROM for the 3 (which will become available in time) will give me everything I need. The increased specs on the Note 4 don't matter for me as I cant see the difference as an average user.
I'll just go for the nexus 6 because it's going to be my first Nexus device, and I want tot check it out. My everyday phone will swapp between note 3 and g3.
I'll be flashing myself silly with all of them
