Just to keep up with the previous models, here's a thread dedicated to the New Nexus 6 made by Motorola. Unfortunately since we still dont have a official Google Play store for Pakistan, we will have to rely on inflated prices on the phone being brought in by importers or shopkeepers.
Feel free to give info on price and availability of the phone in all regions of Pakistan, along with any advice or accessories.

That's a pretty ridiculous benchmark in my opinion. 4 years ago people said anything bigger then 4.0" is nonsense when the Galaxy S came out, and now it seems you can't even find phones with 4" screens now.
The basis is not really the screen size as much as the shell/case that holds the screen. Take a look at the Sharp Aquos Crystal for example. Although it is a 5.0" screen, the phone is SMALLER than the Nexus 4 which you are using with its 4.7" screen.
I'm sure noone would have any problem with a 5.5"- 6" screen as long as the footprint of the phone isn't too big and the battery life is good, which unfortunately isn't the case with the nexus 6.

Your missing the point...
Firstly you were quite specific about anything bigger than 5.0" its nonsense... Nothing to do with affordability or weight etc. See I'm simply saying that's a very vague and unrealistic criteria, that just if its bigger than 5" its just ridiculous.
Secondly, to say a Nexus is MEANT to be affordable and small and easy to carry with the purest form of android is kind of a long stretch. Just if the last 2 nexus models which used hardware that was just a few months away from being outdated to keep the price low, doesn't mean that's what they are always supposed to do. This time they have added the top of the line latest hardware in the phone. Barely any phones had the 805 processor yet, so naturally it will come at a price, along with the massive battery.
I'm not going to lie, I'm also not too happy about the price or the size, but one can not say the price isn't justified considering the specs. Nor can one say its a bad phone for those reasons. I myself am leaning more towards the note4 or note edge, but one eye is nonetheless on the N6 if a good deal comes by.

That was never an issue for the past two Nexus phones made by LG that had same sized LG counterparts.
They wanted a phablet so developers could develop for phablets. Why they did not also make a smaller Nexus 6 for the huge number of people who hate the size, I do not know, but I think their reasoning was stupid whatever it was.

Yeah, I can live with the price. It would be nice if it's cheaper. But I don't buy a new phone every year, so I can scrape together the money for the awesome specs (much better specs than the Moto X).
But I just don't want a huge phablet. Super disappointing to me. My sense is that the majority of users don't want a phablet (they currently only make up 14% of the global market).
I do understand though that there are many people who like phablets and so for them the Nexus 6 is an amazing device, really the best Nexus device yet and the nicest design since the Nexus One (LG and Samsung just make cheap designs, as far as I'm concerned).
I'm gonna definitely have to say the price.. my bank account is crying right now:crying:

I was honestly hoping for a second set of handset with smaller size...heck, it did not even have to come with those killer specs. I just wanted an upgraded nexus 5 lol with maybe 5.5 inch to make my debute into the nexus line...now im caught in a loop about big devices

There's no reason it had to be 10.1mm thick at its deepest points. Other similar phones have spaced in identical or larger batteries in a significantly thinner frame.

Yeah, I was definitely hoping there would be a second smaller Nexus 6. I would be happy with basically a Nexus version of the Moto X that it's based on, with the 5.2" screen. Although the OIS and the stereo speakers are nice, that's definitely an improvement over the Moto X. That said, I guess the best alternative for a smaller screen is the Moto X, though it will never get all the development and roms a Nexus device will have (the 1st Gen Moto X basically had no development).
Maybe you can just save your money and spend it at Moe's Books and Gordo's Burritos instead. There are more important things in life, right?

I think because it's so thin at the edges, there's less space for the components, which have to be more in the middle, than with a phone that has one even thickness edge to edge. I'm pretty sure that's why the battery in the 2nd Gen Moto X is relatively small, even though it's a pretty large 5.2" screen device. It's not about thickness at the middle, it's about overall internal volume and geometry of the phone.
My Note 3 already feels a tiny bit small.....the extra screen size will be welcome. Especially with front facing stereo speakers. It's like my wifes HTC One M8 but much nicer. The Note 4 moved back to a rear facing single speaker.......screw that noise. Price? I'll be edge'ing up to the N6 so it won't matter.
Neither. When looking at the complete line up, starting from the Nexus 5, Moto x (2nd gen), Nexus 6, Nexus 9.. Google caters to all tastes. As for the price, it is STILL competitive considering specs and materials. Google+Motorola+HTC did a great job by having something for everyone.

Yeah, it's a great upgrade from the Note 3. If you're already happy with that size phone, then there's nothing to complain about.

The Nexus 5 is a year old phone with year old specs. I do not count that as part of the current "lineup." It does not have a 64 GB option; it does not have 3 GB of RAM; it has last year's Snapdragon chipset with a slower CPU and GPU; it does not have Wifi Direct; it does not have stereo speakers; it has crappy noise cancellation. The Nexus 5 is a perfectly good phone, but it's last year's phone, and it's only going to get older and more out of date, while waiting for the next Nexus phone and hoping it has a smaller option.
The 2nd Gen Moto X is not a Nexus phone and will get zero development (like the 1st Gen Moto X). It will also be dependent on Motorola for Android updates, with inevitable (if hopefully short) delays, and will not work properly with direct updates from Google (which would disable the special Motorola features like active notifications and Moto voice). That definitely does not count as part of the Nexus lineup.
I think the only honest way to look at it is that the Nexus 6 is the new king of hill Nexus device. It has lots of great upgrades. It is one of the best phones currently out there. And if you don't like the screen size you are out of luck.
I agree with most of what you said, although the Nexus 5 is still and will probably be amazing for several upcoming months. Hell, I would reccommend people to upgrade to it - those that need an upgrade but are turned off by the Nexus 6.

Yeah, the Nexus 5 is great (except for the crappy noise cancellation), no doubt about it. But it is a fary cry from the Nexus 6. It is in no way a smaller but otherwise equivalent device.
The size is just too damn big! Couldn't they stay at a 5" screen!

I'd wait on the camera reviews. Then I'd try to hold a Nexus 6 and make sure its comfortable...it is also a thick phone. But I doubt I'd leave the G3.

For the size of the phone I think it's good that it has a decent thickness. Also it's really not that thick... It's just not iphone thin (I don't like how thin the iPhone is)

I'm very tempted to take advantage of my Jump and get the Nexus 6. The bigger size, dual front speakers, and stock Android are huge pluses in my book.
However, I fear the Nexus 6 will have a worse camera (despite having a sensor that's technically better than the one in the g3.. trust me, Motorola will find a way to screw this up) and the amoled screen is also a negative for me.
So overall I'll probably keep the g3.. hopefully we'll get Android 5.0 on it sooner than later.

Umm, not for me. If I want to carry something larger than the 5.5 inch screen I already have in the G3 I'll pull out the full sized tablet. If it had the excellent Multi window capabilities that Note 4 does and a stylus I might be more inclined to consider it.
As it is both taller than 6 inches and wider than 3 inches, both were my cutoffs for comfortable to hold in the hand - its simply too big for my hands.
Same prospect as the Iphone 6 Plus really - it's a huge unwieldy phone with no real use scenario that I can see.

After seeing this there's no way I want the nexus 6. I'm happy to wait for handsets with the snapdragon 810 then will be time to upgrade.

Spot on, in both counts. Pure android is nice to philosophise about but a good deal of draw of the nexus line was surely price?
There is no circle case and SD card slot with the nexus 6.
But it looks very nice !

I am. I like my G3, but I can't wait to no longer own this phone and be back on stock Android.
I feel there is no real advantage for the Nexus 6 other than the Android L.
It's too big, no sd storage, probably inferior camera, probably inferior sound quality and it will be likely that its Amoled display will be inferior as well. One great thing about the G3 and its RGB stripe display is that its effective resolution is higher than the comparable Amoled pentile displays. Some people don't notice it, but I find them to not have the same sharpness.
So far I have not found any phone that I would jump ship for. I had an IPhone 6 Plus for two weeks and I did like it mostly due to the software but I ended up returning it as the call quality and the camera were considerably worse than my G3. I gather I will be passing on the Note 4 because of its bulk, sound quality and pentile display. I'm one of those guys who loves to switch phones all the time but so far nothing this year is the equal of the G3. Maybe G4 next year?
The wife has a Jump to use and I feel like I should use it even though I still like G3. LoL. I like the Note 4 and Nexus 6. I'm pretty sure I can return a phone in 30 days with the discount I have on my account. Will the Nexus 6 be out in 30 days and if so can I return the Note 4 for it?
Been thinking and reading lots... And will probably take the jump as LG will take forever to push out Android L and I love the Android L stock look. Love the G3 but want the L experience unless we see a custom Rom. As I will wait for hands on reviews and pricing for UK.

Nexus 6?
I'm pretty sure I am going to own Nexus 6 but I'm unsure wether or not it will be my everyday phone I've gotten used to big phones and my personal favorite so far is still the note 3. After having seen the reviews of the Note 4 I don't I will buy it. A note 4 ROM for the 3 (which will become available in time) will give me everything I need. The increased specs on the Note 4 don't matter for me as I cant see the difference as an average user.
I'll just go for the nexus 6 because it's going to be my first Nexus device, and I want tot check it out. My everyday phone will swapp between note 3 and g3.

Now that google has announced that the final version of Android N will be available in summer , do you think google will also release a new phone at that time?
I think every android release so far has been accompanied by hardware, although I think that jellybean was released with the nexus 7 ( a tablet) and now would be a good time to release a nexus 9 successor, but technically summer ends the first week of September, and the nexus 6p was released at the end of September, so who knows, just pure speculation , what do you think?

HTC is supposedly developing both new nexus 5 and 6 for 2016. Codenames seem to indicate that the screen sizes will be 5.0 and 5.5 inches.

I agree 100%. Huawei did a damn good job.
I´m not very happy with the build quality of the Nexus 6P to be honest. It looks good on the outside but this device has some structural flaws. It warps or even bends at some point. It´s a nightmare to open and to repair too if you don´t want to wait for several months for a replacement device which could be even worse ( eg. include a faulty screen ).
In terms of build quality, reliability I rather trust LG more. These devices are very easy to open and not made in such a way that you need to baby them a lot. This is what I don´t like about Huawei. In the end I think that the Nexus 6P is just the Android version of a crApple device: looks good but has flaws which cannot justify the expensive price ( especially in Germany ).
To be honest, I have my doubts that I would want to get another Huawei device again.

Never had any bending or warping on mine. I will never understand why people care at all about the ability to open a phone yourself. All that says is if there is a problem the company probably won't open the phone and try to repair it and just send you a refurb. I much prefer that over having someone trying to open my phone and repair it. The quality will never be the same after opening it.

The bezels are the most disappointing part of the phone for me, specially after having owned the nexus 6

There's no reason to underestimate Huawei, I've liked the design of some previous handsets if not the final implementation. The 6P is a good piece of kit but could be improved in the ways that I described and the OP agrees.
The 1+2 is 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85 mm with a 139.7mm screen (73.3 ratio),
the 6p is 159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm with a 144.8mm screen (71.4 ratio)--for info, I really wish I'd kept the photos of them side by side
It's pretty clear that the latter's design trades everything for depth, but in the process makes it more cumbersome to use. What I'd like to see, to slip back to the OP's topic, is the next iteration of Nexus phones take usability AND aesthetics as a combined first step. They'll be sure to have the internals, and the 1+2 and many other phones show that they can fit in a better footprint.
i recently changed to 6p got so sick of touchwix and i apparently love stock andriod from nexus so im hoping google will manufactor a better nexus N7

They just wanted to match apples thickness 7.3 mm I would have prefered to have a 8 mm phone with slimmer bezels than a 7.3 mm with huge bezels, but oh well, they just wanted to give us reasons to upgrade to the nexus 7 2016 right?

I agree. I've had em all starting with the G1. Love my 6p most. I'd be insane not to. This thing is awesome. Look at the history of Nexis. Ha. We have the best now. I'll likely keep mine for 2 years which is very unusual for me. Unusually sell in a year or less.

Never had that issue! In fact I use it with power saver governor and only have a little bit of lag but insane battery life! This things a speed demon.

A few articles have been written about the rumored new Nexus phone. If this is how it looks, it looks horrible. The front facing speakers appears to be gone and it looks very iPhone-esq.......similar to HTC's A10.

It's all still leaks and rumors at this point but if things play out the way the leaks are leaning, I'll still be hanging on to my Nexus 6. With the larger screen and running Android Nougat at a more than acceptable performance level I just can't find anything that compels me to upgrade.
Even though that's just a rumour and not confirmed, I gotta say HTC really hasn't changed much in a decade. My HTC Sensation looks pretty similar to that, and it's ancient. No, I don't use it anymore, it's a backup phone in case my other device breaks. lol. In other words; not liking it and won't be getting one.
My contract ends around the same time as the new line of Nexus' come around. If HTC fails to wow me, it seems as though I might be going for the galaxy note 7 or s7 edge. Not a big fan of restricted Samsung, otherwise I'd use the OnePlus 3, but alas it doesn't support CDMA
The bigger Nexus 6 variant will probably look slightly different from the smaller though.
I kinda like the new look, but don't like that they're ditching the stereo speakers. I think I'll hold on to the N6 until it dies on me.
Those are just renders. Hopefully they won't ditch the stereo speakers. Either way I'll be sticking to the nexus 6 for a while and wait for reviews instead of purchasing it right away. Judging from the renders, I don't like the look but it might grow on me eventually, kinda like the camera bump on the nexus 6p. I'm actually more excited about custom Roms on Nougat that the new devices. My phone contract finished March next year and even then if the new devices does not seem to fit me I probably would have to wait. The nexus 6 is a fully capable phone for this day and age and will continue to be for a long time thanks to the xda community. The whale will definitely be a legendary phone in my book.

I've been watching the leaks and rumors and yeah I'm not too excited. I'll probably be sticking with the 6. For me 6" is the perfect size and I love the stereo speakers and wireless charging. And it's plenty fast enough so I don't see any compelling reason to "upgrade" at this point.
I'd be more compelled to pick up a 6P which will have a reduced price when the Nexus 2016 comes out.
Well I suppose once it comes out the 6p will be cheaper so if the HTC isn't great there will be a cheaper option. I'm guessing they will price it around $500 which has been pretty typical for the Nexus pricing.
HTC has been struggling since they had their last real hit the M8
The rumor design though with no front facing speakers looks awful but would be consistent with HTC lol

i love the nexus 6 except for the weight of it. the shape was great but right now id prefer something flat.
the only reason why im interested in the new nexus is because of daydream. other than that the nexus' killer features are the screen - 6" qhd amoled - pretty much unique, stereo speakers and qi charging.
will the new nexus have any 2 out of the 3 of these? i sure hope so!

Not certain those HTC really appeal to me. Depends on what phones Verizon has in September, or is announced for it.

Daydream has two meanings
1 screensaver while charging
2 compatibility with new vr standards
Since our nexus 6 already has #1, I'm guessing he means #2
I don't like these renders either. But I remember the dislike for the 6P when renders and test units started showing up. Most hated the design because of the "LaForge" visor. But once we got the real deal it looked much better than anticipated.
Hopefully that's gonna be the case here.

Used to be YES! But not if the front speakers are gone. Sticking with n6.... Looking at ZTE axon 7 as bootloader is unlocked and twrp plus good hw and cheaper price, good speakers seems worth a better look.

I see moving to a 5.5" screen as a downgrade.
After spending the price of two laptops on my N6 (£549) I expect it to last more than a couple of years. I like new toys, but there's a limit imposed by common sense. Newer processors may give an infinitesimal improvement in performance, which no doubt can be measured by benchmarks, but the N6 is plenty fast enough for me. The screen may not be the best around these days, but every time I watch a video I think "Wow, this is an amazing quality picture", so again, good enough for me.

I'll stay with Nexus 6, it's the best phone I ever had, even if it's not my daily phone because it's too big, it's really wonderfull with big screen, nice resolution (ready for carboards), enought RAM, 25Go is enought for me, nice photos/videos, good stereo sound with front speakers, fast charge... :good: I still love it
The Nexus Marlin and Sailfish will indeed not be true Nexus devices. It has been announced that Google is rebranding the Nexus brand, rumored at the moment to just be called "G"; and it will not feature a stock version of android, rather there will be G-only features built into the ROM. No word of bootloader yet.

Me too, not going to happen as long as there are decent 6" or bigger phones available. It's a pain trying to type messages or emails on such a small screen.
I really want a 64 bit mobile to develop my rom, but the 6P might break if I think about it too hard. So I'll check the new ones, but if they are too expensive here in Europe, and the early reviews are negative, then I'll just keep my N6.
I still love my N6 but I cracked the screen a bit in the corner.
I also want to finally make the move to Project Fi so I'm hoping for a bundle deal.

There are a lot of reasons why people buy a Nexus device. The 2 most common reasons I always see is either the simplicity of the device (dare I say, bare bones of what a phone should do/have) and stock skin of Android or on the other side, the complex and customisable options that is possible with the fact that Nexus devices are easy to tinker with combined with the support of the developer community who are constantly providing support for devices for years even after they reach their sell by date(shoutout to all the devs btw )
Combined with this I guess its safe to stay for the most advanced users and beginners alike it all depends on if they're specific needs are still being met for them to stay with Nexus 6 or any other device for that matter and if not then it's time to upgrade.
Personally I will probably stick with Nexus 6 for as long as it lasts me or if a phone gets released with everything the Nexus 6 is and hopefully more ( Preferably a phone such as the Xperia Z5 Ultra , if Sony ever release it )
The price is too high for me. No front facing speakers, "just" a 5.5 Inch screen etc etc. For the moment my N6 is fast and stable enough to use it for the best part of the next year as well.
Bottom line, I would rather buy a OnePlus 3, than a "New Nexus" at this point.

I've grown to the size of my phone and cant seem myself owning anything smaller.
Since first buying the Nexus 6 a couple years ago or so I've had a Moto X Pure, Huawei Mate 7, OnePlus 3, and now I'm back to the Nexus 6. This phone just has everything I want in a phone. 6 inch screen (which for me is the perfect size), simple, clean design, great development, stereo speakers, and good battery life. No point in updating to a newer phone for minimal gains in speed at the cost of at least a couple of the N6's great features.
More than likely I'm going to upgrade. My N6 will be paid off in October.
I'm ready for a smaller form factor, unless they completely **** it up and the design is completely underwhelming, I will be getting one, I'm not gonna get it on launch day like the Shamu though , gonna take my sweet time waiting for reviews to make a final decision, there is a chance I will be sticking with this device for another cycle, we'll see

Me too, I wish they would make another Nexus with a screen this size! They did it once and never again! I LOVE my N6!
I'll be keeping my N6 or getting the One Plus 3 if what I have heard and read about the new devices is true. I just love my N6, has everything I've ever wanted (minus a removable SD and/or battery which I really don't miss). Got my son a OP3 and it is really nice, I really liked my OP1. OnePlus is as close to a Nexus as you can get and unlike recent Nexus they are still inexpensive.
