Used to be YES! But not if the front speakers are gone. Sticking with n6.... Looking at ZTE axon 7 as bootloader is unlocked and twrp plus good hw and cheaper price, good speakers seems worth a better look.

I see moving to a 5.5" screen as a downgrade.
After spending the price of two laptops on my N6 (£549) I expect it to last more than a couple of years. I like new toys, but there's a limit imposed by common sense. Newer processors may give an infinitesimal improvement in performance, which no doubt can be measured by benchmarks, but the N6 is plenty fast enough for me. The screen may not be the best around these days, but every time I watch a video I think "Wow, this is an amazing quality picture", so again, good enough for me.
No point in squandering resources, is there...?

I'll stay with Nexus 6, it's the best phone I ever had, even if it's not my daily phone because it's too big, it's really wonderfull with big screen, nice resolution (ready for carboards), enought RAM, 25Go is enought for me, nice photos/videos, good stereo sound with front speakers, fast charge... :good: I still love it
The Nexus Marlin and Sailfish will indeed not be true Nexus devices. It has been announced that Google is rebranding the Nexus brand, rumored at the moment to just be called "G"; and it will not feature a stock version of android, rather there will be G-only features built into the ROM. No word of bootloader yet.

Me too, not going to happen as long as there are decent 6" or bigger phones available. It's a pain trying to type messages or emails on such a small screen.
I really want a 64 bit mobile to develop my rom, but the 6P might break if I think about it too hard. So I'll check the new ones, but if they are too expensive here in Europe, and the early reviews are negative, then I'll just keep my N6.
I still love my N6 but I cracked the screen a bit in the corner.
I also want to finally make the move to Project Fi so I'm hoping for a bundle deal.
If what is in the leaks is true. I rather buy note 7. Back design too ugly for me.
There are a lot of reasons why people buy a Nexus device. The 2 most common reasons I always see is either the simplicity of the device (dare I say, bare bones of what a phone should do/have) and stock skin of Android or on the other side, the complex and customisable options that is possible with the fact that Nexus devices are easy to tinker with combined with the support of the developer community who are constantly providing support for devices for years even after they reach their sell by date(shoutout to all the devs btw )
Combined with this I guess its safe to stay for the most advanced users and beginners alike it all depends on if they're specific needs are still being met for them to stay with Nexus 6 or any other device for that matter and if not then it's time to upgrade.
Personally I will probably stick with Nexus 6 for as long as it lasts me or if a phone gets released with everything the Nexus 6 is and hopefully more ( Preferably a phone such as the Xperia Z5 Ultra , if Sony ever release it )
The price is too high for me. No front facing speakers, "just" a 5.5 Inch screen etc etc. For the moment my N6 is fast and stable enough to use it for the best part of the next year as well.
Bottom line, I would rather buy a OnePlus 3, than a "New Nexus" at this point.

I've grown to the size of my phone and cant seem myself owning anything smaller.
Since first buying the Nexus 6 a couple years ago or so I've had a Moto X Pure, Huawei Mate 7, OnePlus 3, and now I'm back to the Nexus 6. This phone just has everything I want in a phone. 6 inch screen (which for me is the perfect size), simple, clean design, great development, stereo speakers, and good battery life. No point in updating to a newer phone for minimal gains in speed at the cost of at least a couple of the N6's great features.
More than likely I'm going to upgrade. My N6 will be paid off in October.
I'm ready for a smaller form factor, unless they completely **** it up and the design is completely underwhelming, I will be getting one, I'm not gonna get it on launch day like the Shamu though , gonna take my sweet time waiting for reviews to make a final decision, there is a chance I will be sticking with this device for another cycle, we'll see

Me too, I wish they would make another Nexus with a screen this size! They did it once and never again! I LOVE my N6!
I'll be keeping my N6 or getting the One Plus 3 if what I have heard and read about the new devices is true. I just love my N6, has everything I've ever wanted (minus a removable SD and/or battery which I really don't miss). Got my son a OP3 and it is really nice, I really liked my OP1. OnePlus is as close to a Nexus as you can get and unlike recent Nexus they are still inexpensive.

For as long as it provides my needs. If it lasts physically then I think I'll keep it for another 2 or 3 more years .
It does whatever I need and I think it will continue to do so for a year or more, I see no point in upgrading it. I just browse the net, tapatalk, occasional games(which I can run with no problems, the specs are still above average). The camera and battery are the only problems imo. We'll see what the next Nexus will bring
I think i'll use it for a while.
I'm expecting for it to get the android L update and since 2Gb ram is enough for me, ill use it till it stops getting official OS updates and when 2Gb ram isn't going to be enough

I was due an upgrade in August and got a great deal including a HTC ONE M8, only problem, I really can't take to the phone. Spec wise its fantastic and I have tried to grow to like it, but there's so many things it doesn't do that my Nexus does, that i have put it back in the box and will sell it when i am allowed to after 6 months.
I will never make that mistake again, Nexus all the way from now on!

I have 2 phones that I want to get:
The new Nexus. I know the 5.9" Shamu is definitely coming out, but rumors are of a 5.2" one based on the Motorola Droid Turbo for Verizon. Most likely I'll get the Shamu, because I want something BIG to play games, read ebooks, and watch videos on.
I also want to get the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. I ride a bike everywhere, so a huge phone flopping around in my cargo shorts isn't the most convenient. The Z3C gives me a good size screen in a very small package, plus a great camera and insane battery life. And being waterproof, it's a great choice for a cyclist.
Will I retire my Nexus 4 when I get those phones? No. It'll be a test mule for my Shamu and back-up device. I actually have a back-up device, my Samsung Galaxy Light, but honestly, until an AOSP ROM comes out for it, all this laggy, infuriating piece of junk is good for is providing internet at home. Waiting 30 seconds for Facebook or 15 seconds for the dialer or messaging to load makes me want to turn it into a hockey puck.
Will I still use it as a occasional daily driver after I get those phones? Maybe. Probably. Depends on the development that comes out for the Z3C. I'm sure there'll be times I want a mini version of the Shamu, but the Z3C won't have the ROM or features I want, and I'll use the Nexus 4.
The Nexus 4 is a great phone, and despite being 2 years old, there's a lot of life still left in this old girl.
Til later this year or maybe early next year. I'm waiting to see what the N6 is like. I'm just hoping it doesn't have a 5.9" screen like some rumours are saying.
They were fetching £135 on eBay last time i checked so that's saying something!

If this phone receives android L, I'll keep it for a long time.
Apart from camera I dont see any major spec upgrade in this year's phone. So I will wait for atleast next year this time and hopefully something tempting shows up.

Probably for at least 10 - 12 months. Doesn't make sense upgrading since the specs are still pretty good for the phone. It currently meets all my requirements. I think the most important thing to decide on an upgrade is whether the current phone,CPU,memory can keep up with the apps you use without slowing down.
Well, I loved it initially ! Many sleepless nights and I was craving to have one for almost a month.
I understand the need to bring in better camera, better hardware, bigger screen and other better specs we all were craving for. Also, many people are crazy about it!
But, after using it for 2 days, I started thinking why google screwed up nexus 6 with SIZE and WEIGHT ! It is just too "BIG" and "HEAVY". It made my phone almost useless. I wish there was a nexus mini 6, which is lighter and smaller.
Being a nexus and google stock android maniac, I can't use any other cell phone but my nexus 5.
So, I am back to nexus 5. It does feel fresh with the lollipop update. And, I am happy about it.
I am ready to wait for one more year, hope google will pick the best one which is comfortable to use for all users next time !
P.S: It was just my experience and opinion. I am always an android lover. Don't BOMB me !

You could try motox 2014, that is the closest to stock android in almost the n5 size.

I can see how the size of a phone can make it useless to some people...but the weight shouldn't be relevant. A mere 5-6 years ago (and less) phones were FAR chunkier and far heavy, and we hand no choice cause that was all there was on the market.
To the OP....their are plenty of GPE phones out there that have awesome specs, and the screen size you want. No need to wait another year.

If anything the phone is solid, not heavy, which I'm enjoying.... I was doing wrist curls for the past month so maybe that's why it's n not heavy to me

Phone size is a preference. I have had a large phone for years and prefer it. I understand that Google lost a lot of fans by going to a large phone. And many of you think they "messed up". But Google literally won my business by making a large device. And I know I'm not alone. I had been resigned to putting up with touchwiz another year when I found out about shamu. Point is Google did not mess up just because you choose a different device. And its OK to not want a large phone just as much as its OK to like a huge device. That's why they put out the whole be together not the same campaign.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I went from the rather diminutive 2013 Moto X to the Nexus 6 and I certainly have no regrets. It's big, yes, but after a few days with it, I'm very happy with my choice. So much easier to type on it than my X. Happy with the performance, screen resolution, camera. Front camera is kinda weak compared to my HTC M8, but love the rear shooter. Happy all around. Gets fantastic service, too. Even better than my Moto X, and that thing got excellent signal.
I can see where you are coming from. Would have definitely been nice is they released a smaller version.
For me though I was able to acclimate to the size rather quickly. Did not seem all that big and I never noticed the weight being an issue.

Nah man, do not agree. At first I was hesitant to preorder as I thought it was too big. Then, I switched to Verizon and was forced to go to 6+ over iPhone 6 as it was on backorder. That made me realize that it was not too big lol. And comparing it to iPhone, you get better feel in the hand, more display, and perfect weight. I can't see myself going to a smaller display.
I actually was told by someone who wantes to hold me n6 that is was lighter then theyd imagine by it size, plus coming from the m8, didnt really feel a difference in weight.
Maybe you should look into the Moto X 2014.

The size of the Nexus 6 is not for everyone. I do think however you did not use the phone long enough and give it a chance. Just like the Samsung Galaxy Note series, a high percentage of people whom really give the phone a chance for a reasonable amount of time end of keeping the "note" and stating later "everything else besides the note is too small".
There are some that will never like the size of phablets and subscribe to the life long Steve Jobs diatribe that phones and tablets are separate devices, in which apple as a company changed their tune later.
I do think your making a mistake though. IBM predicted years ago that the future of the computer would be a PC "walkman like device". The calaboration of computer, phone, and music Walkman device are in the phablet. You need to have a big enough screen to have a true "mobile desktop experience" in a phone. Really, that experience envisioned is with 6 inch sized phones and higher. It won't stop here there will be 6 inch + phones with smaller bezels and those that fold/bend. This is the vision that the IBM had. Lenovo now being the owners of IBM and Motorola.

Went to Sprint today to check out the demo. We have two phones that are eligible for upgrade, and I've been looking at the Nexus 6 for months. I figured the size would be fine for me, but I wanted my mom to see the phone and see if she wanted to upgrade to the N6. We both currently have Note 2's, and since I'm the one that always has to troubleshoot when she's got phone issues, I like to try and get the same phones so I know exactly what might be going on when there is an issue. I kind of thought the size would be bigger then the Note 2, but having the phone for two years I guess we're just used to it and the N6 didn't seem bigger at all in the hand for either. Felt like the Note 2, just with more screen space. Seeing the pics and unboxing vids does no justice for the N6. The phone is bad ass in person. As for the weight, I checked out the Note 4 just to compare, it felt much heavier then the N6. Not sure if it's the curved back, but it felt much lighter then all the other phones that size. Both of us walked out and agreed the phone was kick ass and the one to upgrade to. Would have gotten them today, but waiting till Black Friday, just in case there might be some deal at Best Buy. Doubt there will be, but one more week isn't much to wait and see. Plus I can get a couple cases on the way during the wait. And actually, after seeing the phone, the curve on the back didn't seem as curved as I thought it was, so hoping that bumper that Rhino Shield is working on will be all it needs. I questioned the curve and how it could work right, but it looks like the bumper could work without a hard plastic back to it.
Ok so I've been rolling my N4 for just over 2 years now and although I love it I can't help feeling I'm getting left behind. I'll just say that its been the best phone I've ever owned. Everything works out of the box. Google maps and nav for example. Simple, free and every other phone I've launched in anger at the necessary to me but total garbage navigation apps they provided. Nothing the N4 does I dislike.
I thought I liked the 'development' side. I played a lot with my HTC hd2 and ran that on android until it died but since moving to the nexus I'm a vanilla convert. My life is too busy to go rooting. Some may say I'm a iPhone wannabe owner but thats another blood boiling story so we'll skip that. I just love the updates, the simplicity the support and how much nicer android is over the competition.
So I ask. If I want or need a new phone, where do i go?

Size is important. The N4 to me is almost the perfect size. I'm not a phablet fan at all. The N6 launch was hugely disappointing for that reason.
Not sure how I'd cope with bloatware and a different interface like touchwiz coming from a vanilla android handset.
I suppose the reasons for a possible upgrade is LTE. Its getting more widespread in the UK.
The N4 has started to show some gremlins. Nothing bad but makes me question how long the handset will last.
Camera is utter ****. I'm not too bothered by breathtaking quality. Its still only a phone and if I want a proper pic I'll use my SLR, but convinience rules and the n4 camera is slow, unreliable and makes me look a fool who misses that important moment.
& I suppose storage. I like some music. Have a lot of pictures. & apps take up a lot of space. I don't see myself needing expandable storage but 16gb absolute minimum is a must.
So where do I go from here. New nexus? When will that be along?
Nexus 5? Or is that too old as well?
Or are there any other good android experiences from other manufacturers?
Interested to see what others have upgraded to and how they found moving on.

Same problem here. Tried a Fire phone, too may issues . Saw in several articles that they are going to made a 2015 version on the Nexus 5 . The Nexus 6 is too expensive

I still love my N4 but it's definitely time for an upgrade. I'm holding out for the nexus 5 2015 (assuming the rumors are correct obviously). I've been rooting and flashing roms on the N4 since I got it, at the moment I'm running the Chroma ROM with hellscore kernel and it's probably running better than when I first purchased it. Because of this I can easily wait for the next nexus release, there is no other device that would suit my needs to be honest.

Well, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has official Cyanogenmod 12.1, although it's still in "testing". Or you could leave it stock, but it wouldn't be vanilla Android. Sony doesn't go too crazy with their UIs though, and you can always use Nova or whatever launcher to give it the AOSP feel. The Z3C is a significantly smaller phone than the Nexus 4, but only sacrifices .1" in screen size. Plus you'll get like double the battery life or more. And front-facing speakers, 128gb expandable storage, waterproofness, etc.
Or you could wait for the Saygus V2. It's not out yet, but it's basically an Android enthusiast's wetdream. Think of every cool feature on all the different flagship phones, and cram them all into a single device, and you get the V2. 5" 1080p screen, front-facing speakers, IR blaster, wireless broadcasting, waterproof, removable battery, fingerprint scanner, 20mp OIS camera, TWO microSD slots, 64gb built-in, 3GB RAM, dual boot capability, rooted (or rootable) out of the box, and damn near every LTE band on the planet.
No, the Nexus 4 is NOT forever device. I'm back to using mine as I sold my M8 (needed the money) and it's SO slow compared to the newer phones out there. Plus the lack of 4G is a bummer

The Pure is an awesome phone. It has been my favorite and could be perfect with a bit better battery life.
Time marches on and I can't say I am enthused with the new Moto line coming out. Also not sure about Lenovo.
It just doesn't feel right that Moto is no longer American.
So what are you folks planning on going to next?
I would love a stripped down Sony or HTC. Not keen on Samsung. Apple, only if they offer a model with stock Android[emoji13].

Stock Android is great, but sometimes lack from cool features like theming, gestures etc. HTC m10 is option, but i dont know.
Other options are OnePlus 3 and the AXON.
Most probably a Nexus device.
Im waiting for a new nexus. 1+3 is good but not kicking my ass do a sold them after two Weeks and back to moto

Likely the smaller of the two new Nexus devices, provided the battery life/build material is comparable to the larger alternative. This also hinges on whether or not it'll work on all carriers, which I assume it will.
I have my eye on the Axon 7 but I been reading there is alot of bugs with it so far.... I almost pulled the trigger on a nexus 6p .

Definitely a Nexus. Probably in a year or two, I'm pretty good with my phone. Now if Lenovo doesn't upgrade this sucker to Android N then I might ditch it and switch early to the HTC-made Nexus Sailfish. But, I can't see the future so, who knows.
I'm thinking Nexus but I plan to stick with the Pure for at least another year or so. I might even go for another Moto phone. My main requirements will be that it has to be unlocked and no bloat (I actually like the few bashed on features the MXPE has). At the moment the Nexus and Moto lines meet this requirement. Only time will tell.

I also had an interest in the Axon 7 but as you say there are reports of bugs. I read one owner had issues with his Axon using 19% idle over night. Doesn't work with android pay either at the moment. Thankfully supplies are tight so no temptation to buy one in UK.
I have been considering a Samsung gs7 edge now price has eased. Just can't pluck up the courage to buy one. The glass back puts me off. Can't get enthusiastic about the new Moto Z phones and don't currently appeal. The new nexus phones when they are released may be worth consideration but I've never had any luck with HTC phones in the past.
So I'm stuck with the X Style which is no great hardship! Battery generally lasts the day, the display is nice and bright when required, the speakers are very good and it just works day in day out. The one thing I do wish though is that it was 5.2" as it's just a little cumbersome to use one handed. But the big display is good for Web browsing and vids.
So I'll either stick with the X STYLE or at some point get a Samsung GS 7 Edge, but will see what the new Nexus phones are like too when released.

From the pick at the moment probably the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe, but not till I see how it fares in real reviews.
The new moto phones are a big step back from the pure for me.

my pure seems to be developing issues as it nears the warranty date actually i think it just past that on the 18th of july and i have been having issues now for about a week...
And i have a used note 3 that still works great... has better battery life than the pure too...

I honestly have no idea. I'm not enthusiastic about any of the new phones. Seems almost every manufacturer is reverting from a 5.7" screen to 5.5" which is a deal breaker for me. Also need root and I'm on Verizon which cuts my current, and future options down to just my current x pure, or a semi-rooted S7.

I am in the same boat brother lol, I have my Moto X pure for now ... the Edge body im not a fan but the camera is what i love on it. Prices are almost at 500 bucks here in usa for them so i might wait a bit more.
Honestly... I might go back to my Moto G 2015, this phone is great except the battery life. Going from 5+ hours of SOT per day to barely 3.5 is tough. Maybe a G4 or even wait for the next Nexus devices.

Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing fine. Since I recently had the privilege to upgrade my Nexus 6 to One Plus 3T, I thought I should share my experience for all those thinking about the doing same. However, there is a plot twist as you read through the account. I got the One Plus 3T 128GB in used condition for about 350$ without the DASH charger (I was given a 4 amp OPPO VOOC charger which didn't turned out to be compatible with One Plus's DASH charge technology as claimed by the seller). Anyways, on my way home I started playing around with my new device and the first thing that got me depressed about my decision was this major screen downgrade, like literally it felt so unpleasant to my eyes. Secondly, I don't know if I'm being to choosy here but I could clearly see the difference between the drastic resolution shift from Nexus's Quad HD panel to One Plus's 1080p screen while watching videos on YouTube. As I reached home I played some songs and oh well the sound loudness couldn't compete with Nexus's front firing Stereo speakers even though the sound quality was fine. The One Plus's whooping 6 gigs of RAM did bring about great performance but one could barely notice the difference coming a Nexus device (Stock Android). Another minor point and kind of strange thing was that I was constantly missing the on screen buttons so bad, I tried turning on this option on my One Plus but I was only able to do so at the cost of giving another inch or so of the already small screen size hence I decided to keep it off. The best thing I liked about One Plus was it's fingerprint scanner, blazingly fast and a welcoming feature which the Nexus 6 had unfortunately missed. The second best thing has to be it's build quality, compact and slim size (It's way lighter then Nexus 6, you could clearly feel the difference). The camera was pretty solid too but I rarely used it so can't say much about it. The battery timing was great too (I didn't had much apps installed though). After using the device for about 4-5 hours I had made the decision... YES, I WANTED TO GO BACK TO MY NEXUS 6 SO BAD! The lack of those few extra inches and stereo speakers were really enough to make me realize that I shouldn't have made this upgrade, primarily because features like fingerprint scanner and good camera aren't really something I would find myself using often. Anyways, I went back to the seller and asked if we could work something out about this situation, he took the device back for 300$ (YES, I did make a compromise for my beloved Nexus ) and got my Nexus back from my dad as he was using it, installed latest version of Pure Nexus ( It's working great, try it out people) and everything was back to normal. It felt great. Lastly, trust me that One Plus is a great device, it's just my opinion on upgrading to it from Nexus 6, for someone who just wants to buy it, trust me it's worth your money, and I really like One Plus as a company too. This post is just for those people who don't have a good budget and want to do an upgrade, I highly suggest not to because you'll really end up missing your Nexus 6. It's a great device, trust me you only realize this once you're away from it. It's like I'm addicted to it. You can't get the same media experience on any other device. Also, we'll be soon seeing some Android Oreo development for the Nexus 6 Squad ( I can't really wait , waiting for a stable release even though there's one out there already). However, there are a few things that Nexus 6 really lacks such as a good front camera, fingerprint scanner, and USB type C yet it still makes a great device overall. Peace. Just got me a shamu again. It felt goid to have again. Had a 6p and a lgv20. This n6 i have missed for a while. So glad to be back. N6p was great but im a shamu lover.Really hoping the bext pixel will be my next only if its at least as big as this shamu..

I upgraded to a s7 only to regret it the screen, speakers and ROM development can not be matched by any other phone I don't use the camera or finger print scanner much so I ended up selling the s7 and buying 2 broken nexus 6 swaped parts around now I have 1 mint phone and a parts nexus 6 with amazing ROM development I don't see this slowing down anytime soon I plan on running this phone till I can find an equivalent replacement until then I am more then happy
I won't be doing it immediately, but I think I'll be shooting for the Pixel 2 XL late next year. Unlike a lot of people, I can live in most cases without the headphone jack, and can use the dongle the rest of time. Besides, I'm still a bit of a luddite. Even though I have multiple smartphones and my music in the cloud, I still keep a 16GB MP3 player around as a backup.
@skbhere: I didn't read your post, because you didn't break it up into concrete sentences and paragraphs. While what you want to say is important, how you present the information for others to see is just as important. By not using sentences and paragraphs, what you wanted to say got lost because most people won't bother trying to read it.
Yeah.. i preorder 2xl.. but for the $$$ and no reward for preorder.. stupid google home thing i will never use...im going to cancel and wait for development to happen... But a $1k device might be slow .. also rumors OnePlus is releasing another device .. maybe with larger screen??.. im gonna wait

I couldn't agree more. I for a minute had a lgv20. Its size wasnt an issue but the UI. So I sent it back. Through a snafu with Verizon I ended up with a free Droid Turbo and Its been my back up phone for the times my beloved Nexus 6 has been down with a broken screen. Though its as close to the N6 within. It was still not even close. I now have a Verizon bought( unrooted as I didn't do my homework and made assumptions regarding its ability to be rooted) Pixle XL and although its much quicker and its screen is a bit nicer. I still have my Nexus 6 at home ready to go. I use the Pixle as my daily and it goes with me whenever I leave home. However the minute I walk in the door in the evenings I will grab my Nexus and use it for all of my media, fidlefarting around on the web and messing with anyone foolish enough to join my wifi. The screen size , forward facing stereo speakers and ability to run countless roms ( including my favorite dirty Unicorns with the Kali's Nethunter) keeps my Nexus 6 fresh and usable. I will say that I wish my Nexus was as fast as the Pixle. However is slowness in comparison to the Pixle something I am willing to endure at least for the time being. I'll end with this , I too have extra parts for my Nexus 6. It's currently a phone of from 3 as I have bought broken phones from ebay to construct it with a screen from 1, a main board from another and battery from yet another( with one more battery in reserve) and I will ride this phone out till it no longer works or becomes too antiquated and slow to serve its current purposes. Its the best phone I have owned and I have owned a whole ****ton of different phones going all the way back to the OG Driod.
I moved on from my Nexus 6 as my DD quite a while ago, only because it was too big to comfortably carry with me (it didn't fit in my purse ) But I still use it all the time at home, none of my other devices come close to it for media and that big beautiful screen. On Validus Oreo now, I've been running a GZR ROM on it since the day I got it, in Dec 2014. Love my shamu <3
