Using Darkstones FroyoStone build, but I really dont like the lock screen slider, it just visually clashes with every wallpaper imo. I would much prefer to use the default Froyo one or HTC hero one. I have only found 2 apps capable of this, lockbot and widgetlocker. Lockbot has terrible reviews and doesnt seem to work well at all (i tried it), and widgetlocker is payware.
Seems like changing the lockscreen should be easy enough, if not a basic system default option. Does anyone know how to do it?

Make a backup of anyfiles before you edit them!
I used astro file explorer, but just use whatever file explorer you like best. Go to /system/app and find the file called "HtcLockScreen.apk" make a copy of it and put it somewhere safe, then delete the original and bam there you go. I just restarted android when done, and when it comes back on you should have the stock froyo lockscreen.

Does that mean I could dump the 2.1 lockscreen.apk in and have that one instead, I don't like the 2.2 one much.

I have not personally tried to but I would assume that you could, just make sure you copy the original .apk file and try it out.
Any idea where I could get a copy of an older apk for a lockscreen?

Find one of the old 2.1 builds in the forum, load it up and copy the htclockscreen.apk to your computer or sd card. Load up your current build of android and place it in the system/app folder.
anyone with thedesire HD or a "normal" sense rom can post the htclockscreen.apk??? PLZ!!!

Trying this out now, thanks for the tip.
I used the tip and it is working perfectly. Thank you, easy and effective
Eevn if this brings back the Stock Froyo lockscreen, if your phone is locked and you have a incoming call, again you will see the HTC answer screen (htc lock screen for answering). How can we remove this and get the Froyo style?

That would probably require the replacement of phone.apk and possible even dial.apk

I'm hoping someone can help. I would love a flashable zip of the vanilla lockscreen that works with the supervillain Rom, as its a quality Rom but I just really like the lockscreen. Anyone iniquities of one?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You could use Widget Locker. It can look like the vanilla lock screen and much more.
DesirableHTC over on the supervillain rom thread pointed me to the program root manager. With that you can just delete the htclockscreen.apk and reboot. And there you have the lovely vanilla lockscreen. Thanks for your advice too, widgetlocker is a great app.

Actually, there's a solution for that.
Simply push the attached DeskClock.apk via adb to /system/app/ . With this you can set the alarms and switch them off. Don't forget to disable the alarms in the Clock App of Sense.
thank you for this. widget locker rules!!!
So 2 days ago I realized that I couldn't use live wallpaper because I discovered that my livewallpaper.apk was missing. I found the file but it ways cannot install when I try to install it. Is there a way to fix this?

you will need to place the live wallpaper .apk into /system/app/ and restart. either use root explorer on market or adb push from computer. if you dont know how to use adb, google it.
I did that, but the live wallpaper doesn't show up when I want to change my wallpaper.

did you make sure to remount the system read-write? if not, the apk didnt actually get placed. make sure you pull the live wallpaper apk from the version you are using.
yea, I have it on system rw. Maybe it's the apk file?
Can you send me yours?

it is possible, you only need to edit the settings.apk and .odex on your pc after decompiling it
obviously ROOT required

but, as I edit this file settings.apk?
what should I change it so that my background screen turn black.
Root Explorer does not find the file settings.apk
com.Android.settings.apk that was found.
I do not know how or what to modify

You have to edit it on your PC after decompiling it. there you can change the color to Black. you have to know what you're doing.

Im also not a professional at this topic but there are many tutorials here on xda that should tell you how to modify an apk
This is a quick walk through for editing the build.prop to allow lock screen and launcher rotation.
I got tired of looking at my phone sideways while it was propped up landscape wise, in my case.
1. Locate "build.prop" in /system using your favorite file explore
2. Open it up and at the bottom add the lines
Code:
log.tag.launcher_force_rotate=VERBOSE
lockscreen.rot_override=true
3. Save your edit and reboot.
Lockscreen rotation still not working for you???
A few users have reported that adding a blank line between the two, fixes this issue.
Once the phone reboots your lockscreen and Google Now launcher will rotate with the orientation of the device just like other apps do.
To undo this, simply remove the lines we added
:good:
Update: 11/10/2015
enigma9o7 Has figured out how to get this to stick even after an update! Head over to his post for the walkthrough and install guide!! Remember to give them a "thanks" for sharing the work!
Awesome I been wondering how to get this done.
Nice tip. I've always just used an app called Ultimate Rotation Control. Seems to work just fine on the Nexus 6. A quick build.prop tweak removes the need for a separate app for it, though. I might get around to trying this...eventually
can someone make a flash able zip for this please ?
thanks in advance
Anybody know how one would do this with adb?
N6
I used an app for quite some time but i disliked it running in the background.
Im not able to make a flashable zip. Maybe in time I will see if i can.
For adb, youd have to pull the build.prop, edit on computer then push it back. The instructions to do that are unclear to me

You can install Nova Launcher and toggle the setting in there, or use the ultimate rotation app someone else mentioned.
Thx
If you set the DPI to 384 or less, this happens by default.

Thats good to know! Not surprising, the device is most likely changed to "tablet size" to the system. And they have full rotation.
Works great, thanks! (AT&T Nexus 6)

gotcha. You are rooted, correct? and if so what file manager are you using to locate the build.prop?
es file explorer and i'm rooted.
in ES file explorer when you grant it root permissions, click on root, then mount R/W, make sure "/system" is RW instead of RO. (sorry if you already know this, im just trying to save time and figure your error out haha)
Thanks I got it working.:good:
Glad to hear it!
to each their own, I like being able to get OTAs so I'll stick with Ultimate Rotation Control
