I'm hoping someone can help. I would love a flashable zip of the vanilla lockscreen that works with the supervillain Rom, as its a quality Rom but I just really like the lockscreen. Anyone iniquities of one?

You could use Widget Locker. It can look like the vanilla lock screen and much more.
DesirableHTC over on the supervillain rom thread pointed me to the program root manager. With that you can just delete the htclockscreen.apk and reboot. And there you have the lovely vanilla lockscreen. Thanks for your advice too, widgetlocker is a great app.

Actually, there's a solution for that.
Simply push the attached DeskClock.apk via adb to /system/app/ . With this you can set the alarms and switch them off. Don't forget to disable the alarms in the Clock App of Sense.
thank you for this. widget locker rules!!!

Using Darkstones FroyoStone build, but I really dont like the lock screen slider, it just visually clashes with every wallpaper imo. I would much prefer to use the default Froyo one or HTC hero one. I have only found 2 apps capable of this, lockbot and widgetlocker. Lockbot has terrible reviews and doesnt seem to work well at all (i tried it), and widgetlocker is payware.
Seems like changing the lockscreen should be easy enough, if not a basic system default option. Does anyone know how to do it?

Make a backup of anyfiles before you edit them!
I used astro file explorer, but just use whatever file explorer you like best. Go to /system/app and find the file called "HtcLockScreen.apk" make a copy of it and put it somewhere safe, then delete the original and bam there you go. I just restarted android when done, and when it comes back on you should have the stock froyo lockscreen.

Does that mean I could dump the 2.1 lockscreen.apk in and have that one instead, I don't like the 2.2 one much.

I have not personally tried to but I would assume that you could, just make sure you copy the original .apk file and try it out.
Any idea where I could get a copy of an older apk for a lockscreen?

Find one of the old 2.1 builds in the forum, load it up and copy the htclockscreen.apk to your computer or sd card. Load up your current build of android and place it in the system/app folder.
anyone with thedesire HD or a "normal" sense rom can post the htclockscreen.apk??? PLZ!!!

I used the tip and it is working perfectly. Thank you, easy and effective
Eevn if this brings back the Stock Froyo lockscreen, if your phone is locked and you have a incoming call, again you will see the HTC answer screen (htc lock screen for answering). How can we remove this and get the Froyo style?

That would probably require the replacement of phone.apk and possible even dial.apk

Could not find a solution for this yet
Have fun: http://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?f=399&t=144147
A question for you. I have been looking everywhere but could not find a solution.
I am using firewall to filter calls and messages. Also I am using app protector pro to protect applications like settings, installer etc. The risk is, any one accessing to your phone can easily remove the apps (i.e App protector pro or Firewall etc..) from the app drawer (app drawer > menu > edit then touch the app to remove). Only 3rd party apps can be removed this way and not the system apps.
If there is a way to treat the 3rd party apps as system app then this accidental/mischief removal of apps can be stopped.
Is there anyone help in this..
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys,
Any thoughts in this issue.
Please help.... this may help many of the forum users..
Hey smohanv,
This will be my first post in this forum because I think I now have the knowledge to help others
So here it goes!
I used SGS Tools to remove some of my system apps.
Open SGS Tools > Cleanup System Apps and you can select which ones to delete.
It didn't took all system apps btw, I still had a few meaningless apps which I couldn't delete.
For these apps I used Root explorer to delete them manually. Be carefull tho, don't delete stuff you don't know.
Good luck.
Alright I now see my first post on this forum is a complete fail
You meant something else, treat the 3rd party apps as system apps so they won't get deleted.
Good question on which I don't know the answer yet but I did give you a bump hehe
Someone else has any suggestions?
Hi
Thanks for the response. The question is not about removing system app. The question is, how to prevent apps getting uninstalled by anyone seeing your phone. From the OS Froyo onwards, any app can be (except system app) removed just by invoking menu > remove by touching the icon.
If you have root you can copy the .apk of the app to /system/app.

Yes, as xxbeanxx said, if you have root, you can move the apps you want to protect into your /systems/ directory through ADB or through the Terminal app and that way it will not be available through the TouchWiz drawer delete option.

Thanks for the workaround. I have rooted phone. Can the apk file be moved to system/app folder using root explorer.
Thanks again. If it works through file explorer than using adb or terminal app many forum users can benefit.

Hi
It worked. Thanks for the suggestion. I copied the installed apk from data/app folder to system/app folder and restarted my device. It works.
Many thanks.
On the normal clock there was a timer function. I dont see it anywhere on the asop clock thats part of super clean. Is there one? If not i guess ill just get an app for it but i used it alot so i remembered to feed my parking meter. Wife hates when i get parking tickets.
I love superclean but I had the same problem with the AOSP clock. So what I've done since the first one is open Rom Manager, click Download Rom, click Sonofskywalker3, then click Desk Clock and download the Stock Desk Clock and let that download.
I don't use rom manager to restart and install anymore because it used to boot me into a different recovery so I then restart into recovery using the button when you hold the power button and install the zip from SD card. It's a little tricky to find but you start in the Clockwork Mod folder. Find the zip for the clock and install it.
Also you may have to disable Voodoo to install, if you're on Voodoo, I know I did.
The clock will take over as your default clock but the AOSP clock will still be there.
Hope this helped!
I too prefer the stock clock over aosp. So you can do as was stated above or what I did was download it using clockwork then used astro file manager to find the zip. Open it
Then extracted the apk and replaced the aosp clock with stock.
I downloaded it from sonofskywalker and pulled the apk with root explorer and put it in system/app. Works great. Thanls guys.

How did you get permission to put in system/app with root explorer? I attempted that without success. I ended up doing an adb push.
Either way I agree the original clock is nice.

In root explorer there is a little button at the top that says mount r/o. I hit that so it switches to mounted as r/w, which i assume is read/write. R/O i assume is read only. This should allow you to do whatever you like in these folders.
I want to try this ROM, but in the past when installing MIUI, I have lost superuser.
The instructions are:
1.9.9: Mediafire - Multiupload
md5: BFB94E2DE623B0D27DA6B8A142FFE207
Superuser Permissions need to be enabled via the Superuser application.
Open the app, then hit 'menu', then settings, and enable root permissions. (Superuser is found in Tools folder by default).
But when I open the superuser app either prior or after installing, I find no option to "enable root permissions". Could someone please walk me through this.
Thank you.
Nevermind. I found the answer in another forum. The tools folder is actually a folder on the homescreen which contains the superuser icon

I tried it out for like a week or two but then went back to Cyanogenmod. I've been using it for I'd say more than 2 months and I haven't had the urge to change it to something else. Which frankly surprises me since I tend to get bored with stuff like that. I'm one of those people that change their wallpaper to a completely different one every week.
I cant for the life of me get any widgets to work on my rooted kindle.
I have tried to download the apks manually and then move them to system/apps and even change the permissions.
But when i try to add the widgets via ADW nothing happens, no widgets pops up and the screen goes back to the homescreen.
help would be much appretiated
Wipe the data for adw launcher and try again..
If the problem persists then reinstall your rom.

yokone1,
We have seen this a number of times on both Go Launcher and ADW Launcher. This is a sure fix.
Download the attached file named AppWidgetPicker-1.2.3.apk copy it to /system/app then change
the permissions to Owner: Read Write, Group: Read, Others: Read. Do Not install the apk, just
move it and change the permissions. Next reboot, wait for the Kindle to upgrade and test Widgets.
Let me know if this solves your issue.
This worked perfectly, thank you so much! =)

I can copy it to my device into other folders, and when I then try to move it using ES File I get the notice can not move file. P.S. I have also tried transferring directly via AirDroid and get a failed notice when trying to trf to system/app

Heather_A,
The folder /system/app is a secured folder, you need Root access to mount the folder:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069117
If you have Root, you need to use either ES File Explorer or Root Explorer in Root Mode.
In ES File Explorer, you need to go into the Settings Menu, next the Root Settings Menu.
Click on all the options in Root Settings. Be sure to Allow the Pop up Superuser request.
Once you have Root, then look at the VERY TOP Left of ES File Explorer where it says Local.
Look to the Right of Local, it probably says /sdcard/Download. If this is the case, you need
to click on the Up twice until you see Local /. You are now at Root, from here you will click
on /system - Local now shows /system, next click on app, now you are at /system/app.
Does this help? Since you are working with the /system/app folder, it is critical to backup
the Kindle. Here is software that automates the Backup Process: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888

Hey guys,
i did not root my kindle fire. I can use the ADW Launcher, but i cant use widgets. Nothing pops up after i press the widget button. So i installed the AppWidgetPicker. Now i can choose the icon and after that i can see all the widgets. Perfect i thought!
But when i try to choose a widget it tells me "widgetPicker closed" and nothing happens.
Is there anyone who can help me with this problem?:victory:

Another fabulously useful nugget of info on XDA-developers. Thanks so much. It is things like this that make that patronising and unfunny XDA sign-up video almost worth watching!
I'm having what sounds like the same problem on JB 4.1.1
Whe version of Android is on the Kindle Fire?
I have been running the v1.3.3.8 of ADW EX on Gingerbread (Atrix 4g) with flawless operation.
On my Jellybean v4.1.1 (Atrix HD), widgets are crazy. Static icons stay put, widgits disappear
and reappear all over the place.
Is the above fix likely to work for me on JB?
Thx
