Since all the good gossip over SGSIII has now died it's time to start the same over Note II.
These are my predictions and hopes:
- Screen: Size would be nice if it were the same. I've found this to be a quite optimal phablet size. But what I'm really looking for is what SGS III didn't deliver: HD resolution with RGB-matrix.
- CPU: Exynos 4412, but overclocked
- Release: August / September
- Design: Really don't care. Just as long as it's functional, I'm good.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
- NFC for all models
- A tablet mode with TW
- two usb ports
Sent from the great Note
Let's be realistic...2 USB ports? Does the note have that now? No. Its a bigger version of the SGS2.
My guess is Note II will be a bigger Sgs3. Simple as that.
Don't blow things out of portion.
We're allowed to have wishes, don't we? We're not even sure that there will ever be a new Note in 2012.
Sent from the great Note
A full-size USB port would be pretty sweet, but no way that's going to happen!
My wishes/hopes:
- Not so insanely thin, increased thickness and battery size and a rim around the screen so it can survive a face-down drop.
- Higher resolution.
- Either no more pentile, or a software fix for the banding/black crush.
- Tablet UI.
- Recessed camera lens.
- Louder speaker.
- Wider screen, maybe even 4:3 aspect ratio. The length of the Note is absolutely the max I can fit comfortably in my pocket, but it could easily grow a couple centimetres on the sides.
Perhaps Samsung will take a bit of a break as ICS is officially out for the note is it? Im only saying this because i just bought myself a Note so would prefer to not have to upgrade for a while lol
It has dropped in price here in the UK so i wouldn't be surprised if the note did come out later this year.
An IPS screen and it's perfect.
All I am asking for is a larger capacity battery and make it run faster and more optimized.
What is the point in having quad core but still runs slow.( not that my note is slower)
make it available in black!!!
when looking at the S3, blue around the screen is nowhere near as nice and white IMO is not as nice as black either - although black and then white like the HTC One X looks nice
This a wish list or a prediction?
Wish List
a15 based dual core
1080p super amoled + screen.
no larger dimensions, but maybe shrink the bezels to get a larger screen
Better interior space use to get a wider flatter batter with ~3000mah
2gb ram
32gb internal storage
Prediction
S3 with a bigger screen and a digitizer. If we;re lucky we'll get a small clock jump and maybe 1.5gb ram.
I think there will be no Note 2 in the near future! Maybe next year...
I don't think we are going to get an rgb martix super amoled at hd resolution with a screen as small as the note. Not for years anyway. All I would want from the note 2 is more ram and better processor and higher screen res I like the pentile screen so would sooner have 1080 than 720 rgb, or good for bid they put in an ips lcd because of all the whingers about pentile!!

I think we can be pretty sure the note 2 will be release around the same time as the note one, November time, maybe even later like early next year, I wouldn't worry
I want a 6" screen. Would be perfect for me. Probably too big for most but I'd like it
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
The form factor cannot get larger or is loses it's niche. It has GOT TO BE POCKETABLE! If they can get a little bigger screen into the existing dimensions... okay... but the niche is pocket-ability or one might just buy a full size tablet.
I'm not hung up on # of cores. Just make it fast and smooth. If thats 2 cores, great!
SIII features like All Share wireless connectivity.
Boost the Internal Memory.
A better screen? I think the screen is damn good, but make it better and I won't complain.
The camera could be better... But I'm grasping at straws because the Note rocks!
It could be 5.5 inches if they narrow the bezel.
5250 cpu and 1080p screen would be nice.
Stereo speakers and notification leds, please.
A dedicated camera button would be great.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
I'd like higher res, get rid of the buttons and extend the screen down to the bottom for onscreen buttons, and Official Android Jelly Bean on release (by the time we see a Note 2 I'm sure it will be out, imo)
What we will likely get is a larger S3 with ICS months after 5.0 is out.
Dedicated camera button would be great!
Stereo speakers.
Better display quality with same dimensions.
Smaller dimensions of the phone overall.
Home button must stay coz its easier to unlock the phone from sleep.
Maybe a little more juice in battery.
More precise s pen.
Nice software functions like in sg3.
Min 32gb onboard for storage.
Camera button.
Hardware as in sg3, but 1.5 gb ram and little higher clock cpu speed.
Many people considered me crazy for leaving my AT&T branded GS3 for the N4, many thought I was downgrading, dropping LTE in favor of the stock android experience.
After spending half the day with my phone I can honestly say this was the best decision I have made when it comes to technology.
The phone feels rock solid and high quality. The screen is a drastic improvement from the pentile AMOLED, the whites actually look white and the icons/text stands out a bit more and is more well defined.
TBH I don't really notice the benefits of the quad core over the dual core that the GS3 runs, it still feels just as snappy/responsive. I also don't miss the home button at all. I will have to get some kind of protection/grip though, which is fine because the back isn't as impressive as the pictures lead it to be, most people wont see the pixelation design unless they are under a light.
The battery/storage may be a problem but so far it isn't a dealbreaker.
This actually feels like a phone that I wouldn't/dont need to upgrade, it's that good.
So you can keep your LTE, home button, and pentile screen GS3, I think I'll be happy with the global development here and hope to contribute where I can
Size of screen
Hi, I m from (karachi) Pakistan,I have a question from you because you have come from Galaxy S3. Is Nexus 4 display is wider then Galaxy S3 and Optimus G ? currently i am using Htc One X its display is taller not wider, i need wider screen in just 4.7 inch space, plz suggest me which one has wider screen, because i have to make order via online thats why i cant check the screen size of Nexus 4 and Optimsu G and they are not available in Pakistan except Galaxy S3, Thankx

The n4 had a screen resolution of 1280x768. The galaxy s3 has a resolution on 1280x720. So width wise the n4 has almost 7% more pixels showing. Without know the screen measurements sans bezel I'm not sure how bog the difference in width is though.

What do you think about the smaller screen but it using up more of the form factor?
Our 7.7
Size 196.7 x 133 x 7.9 mm 340g
Screen 166.5 x 103.6 mm 1280 x 800
6.3
Size 168 x 88 x 8 mm 199g
Screen 139.5 x 78.5 mm 1280 x 720
The width is 35% narrower but the screen is only 25% narrower.
I keep my 7.7 in my pocket as it is my primary phone but the Mega 6.3 is much more pocketable. Do you think the 25% reduction in screen size is worth this?
Each to their own. I ditched the nexus 7 as the screen was too small for me, the 7.7 is great though.
I don't see myself going to anything smaller that a 7.7,unless there will be no further production, then I will get whatever big screen is available at that time

Yeah the note 8 looks nice even if it has an inferior display. If only our tab had an s stylus type pen it would be complete

I just want the offical 4.2.2 rom for 6800, no more.
Nothing is even close to how good 7.7 is. But mega being more pocket-able might be the only reason I'll even look at it. Not inspired by likes of Note 8 or anything else.
The 4.2.2 for the 6800 is not important for me, the tab does everything it should in ICS and it does it beautifully
I think I would have gotten a note2 if I were going that smaller.. Also, considering you can get Verizon version here in us for 350$, It wasn't even a selection really for me. 7.7 after so many years is still hands down the best tablet.
The new Nexus 7 looks very interesting :good:
yeah nothing is going to top 7.7 form factor and hardware. Still the only oled tablet on the market..

I really love 7" tablets, cant stand 10"...too big
"I would want it to be waterproof for reading in the bath, and seeming I don't use the ports on my tablet I wouldn't have to worry about the finicky charging flaps that compromise the waterproof ability of my phone. I would like induction charging as well. A full 1080p screen with 440dpi would be a must a long with a 1.5ghz quad core processor with companion core for downscaling and the latest NVIDIA Tegra chipset for you know...my intense Angry Birds gaming marathons. Camera's could be VGA and I wouldn't care, I am not a camera persona and only recently have I started using front facing cameras in hangouts."
i've been so on and off with 7' tablets ... half of me loves the ipad minis size .. the other half loves the amount of real estate of a 10'

I can't stand 10 inches either. they are too big ;D
but seriously, a 7 inch xperia tablet would be nice
still rocking nexus 7 but if sony come out with 7in i'm jumping ship
i can't stand 10inches.
its too painful.
it causes tears in my vaginal walls.
few years ago when iPad flooding the market, i highly regretted inche size of tablet but most of remarks i ve heard
''7'' is way to small, 10'' fits perfect''
then later Nexus 7, iPad Mini become popular and now everyone wants it
i didnt change my mind and still believe 7/8'' fits perfect for tablet owner
what's the sense of 7" ?
it's a little bigger than a 5" smartphone (like the z), but way smaller than 10 inches. what's the (big) advantage of having a 7" tablet compared to a 5" smartphone?
it's like you're having an everyday-car with 180 HP, and if you wanna go on the race track, you'll take the one with 190 HP (instead of the one with 300)
Sony made one next to the Xperia s and u
But never got released.

ok, so this is a possible advantage compared to a 10" tablet.
but where's the (big) advantage in comparisson to a 5" smartphone?
to me it seems that there's no big difference in using a 5" smartphone or a 7" tablet (e.g. like you said on the airplane), but it's a lot of difference using a 5"/7" and 10".
so, owning a 5" smartphone and a 7" tablet means owning 2 medium-scale devices. owning a 5" smartphone (or a 7" tablet) means owning a small device and a large device.
i still don't get the point, why anyone owning a 5" xperia z wants a 7" xperia tablet z.

there is a big difference IMO, 5'' fits in your pocket, not a 7'' tablet
over 5'', you see a noticeable display feeling, trust me, Galaxy Note 2 is huge in comparison of XZ, howver its only about 0,5 inches of size
smartphone becomes step by step bigger and bigger, tablet on the contrary will decrease size's screen
in near future, phablet will flood the market

I think you are underestimating how much 2 inches reflect when it comes to screen sizes. Look at old BB devices with 2.5in screens and how they compared with 4in devices, take a 4in screen and put it next to the 5in of the Z...and taht is only 1in difference there. I did as I had a LG O2x 4in when i got my Z.
dm;hs?
2inches is quite the difference especially for a handheld device
Togari 6.44 hmm close Xperia z looking

He's right. People tend to forget that the inches are measured diagonal not horizontal or vertical.
For example, four 2 inch screens fit in a 4 inch screen. And not two as most people think or imagine when picturing how large the phone would be.

Actually I think 8-inch is a better idea
Lets see .. if Sony Makes A Tablet Z 7 inch it would be named Tablet ZR , Light as the note 2 , Thinner Than Tablet Z like 6.0~ !!!! , IT would be mega impressive if sony could do this. We'll all want to find out SONYS SECRET OF MAKING SUCH A THING
Hi, just jumping into the discussion. I would also support the idea or a smaller tablet - in the end I would be happy with 7 or 8, doesn't matter
The subject says it all.. I'm totally confused which phone to get. Huawei Mate 7 offer a huge screen, long battery life, but no guarantee of Lollipop and 13MP camera.. Z3 has Lollipop coming soon plus 20MP camera, but only 5.2" screen.
Any suggestions.. or comparisons between the two?
Thanks..
Both will get lollipop.
It's all about the screen size honestly. Once you have you get used to a 6 inch screen it will be hard to go back. It will change the way you use the phone. You will get much more productive and use it more like a computer.

+1
I wouldn't worry so much about Lollipop honestly. The KitKat-based EMUI 3.0 is wonderful, and if you root your device you can add a lot of extra functionality. So unless there's this one Lollipop feature that you absolutely have to have, I wouldn't go for one phone or the other just for the sake of the system version. The Mate 7's screen has the perfect size for reading, working and video, and battery life is incredible. Personally, I would find 5.2" too small, but that's a matter of taste. (I even find 5.5" too small, which is why I didn't get the OnePlus One after all.)
Depends on your priorities, camera & vid of z3 are better, If you prefer more normal/stock android z3 maybe better, how big a screen do you really need & is the extra size an issue to you for portability ?
All round warranty & support from manufacturer & via forums will be better on z3 so review how important that is to you.
Mate 7 wins for me on looks, price of the 2 very close, if mate 7 was just a little cheaper it would be in a lot more peoples pockets/bags ...

So get mate7 OR I can suggest you to check out new flagship coming which is Huawei P8

I'm renewing my contract for my phone. And the 2 available that I like is Mate 7 and Xperia z3. Z3 is more expensive than mate7. What's the reason for that? Is it the waterproof? Or the software for Xperia? Or just the brand Sony?
I asked my wife to get the mate7, and if she didn't like it I'll get the z3 and I'll have her mate7. Any comparison on the 8core of mate7 vs 4core of z3? It seems 4 core maybe slower than the 8core but that 4core is snapdragon 801.

It's really going to boil down to screen size preference. I've been using a Z3 for the past month and a half or so, and (for me, at least) it has easily the best manufacturer Android experience. Despite that, however, I still miss the screen real estate that I used to have with my old Note 2 and G3. If you're used to large screens, get the Mate 7. But if you're coming from ~5.0" panels, the Z3 is a safer bet.

Yes, it is, and by a fairly large margin, too. since the Note doesn't have on-screen navigation. The Mate 7 does but that's 6" vs. the Note 2's 5.5" so it'll still come out on top.
If you like custom roms. Go for the z3. It may have more roms than the HAM7. but if youll just go stock or root it. Ham7 is a good choice.
