Hi All,
Firstly SORRY for posting here. This should be in the dev thread, but I have no rights there.
I am unable to post to post in the developer thread (being newly registered) and I am hoping Chainfire can provide a root for the Galaxy Note 4 SM-N9100 China model. He has requested that the recovery.img file from the phone model's stock ROM be attached. He has already provided the root for a few other files but I see in another post, he didn't do it for this one because he couldn't download the firmware easily. I have downloaded the stock firmware and extracted the needed file.
If someone with dev posting rights can help post the attached file to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980683&page=55
I would be super super appreciative :fingers-crossed:
Many thanks.
For thanks in advance to Chainfire, I have just made a donation.....
.... now praying.... can't use my apps purchased on Google Play on this phone without the root.
http://download.chainfire.eu/564/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-trltechn-trlteduoszc-smn9100.zip
thanks chainfire!
tried it on mine but it didn't work. had a flash write failure...
Maybe Locked Bootloader
First, big thanks to Chainfire for the super fast action!!
But yeah, I've got the same issue. The recovery.img was from sammobile for n9100, so I don't think that is the problem.
I am suspecting it is a locked bootloader. Unfortunately I'm not at the moment able to detect this as while adb is working fine, fastboot is not recognizing the device. If anyone else knows how to easily check if the bootloader is locked (and has a good way to unlock without using fastboot), everything would be great.
Fastboot not supported for n9100
Ok tried fastboot on a different PC. Doesn't work for n9100 either. Can't detect devices in bootloader mode. Adb is ok. So likely not usb issue, must be simply not available on n9100 and from searching about seems Samsung likely doesn't support fastboot for many devices.
Troubleshooting
After further research, not too sure about the bootloader being the issue. Actually the SM-N9100 is not carrier branded or locked that I could tell. If the other models' roots work, then it makes no sense for this to be the issue here.
Chainfire, I see you posted that you may replace the ROOT you made for this model. If it helps in troubleshooting, here is what happened.
1 - Downloaded the stock firmware from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=36308
2 - Posted to you the recovery.img file from the ROM - not sure if that was the one you used. But after soft bricking my device by trying the root, I can confirm that I could reflash with the stock firmware and all went well.
3 - When trying the root, it starts no problem, but then there is a Write Fail error in Odin. If needed, I can repeat the process to provide all text and screenshots. There was no Red Android icon. The bootloader screen has some failure message and the Android icon remained green.
4 - Phone would not restart stating there was a firmware issue and that I should perform a recovery in Kies.
5 - I did not perform a recovery in Kies, but rather I reflashed (using Odin) the stock firmware. This worked ok.... but of course, I still have no root. Since the reflash worked, then I can only assume the recovery.img file is fine for my SM-N9100
I have used your Autoroot in the past for my Note 2 N7100 model, and it worked with absolutely no issue whatsoever. So I don't think the problem is that I am not following the Odin settings correctly or that I have some USB issue.
Thanks.
Further Details
I've added a screenshot of the Odin failure.
BTW, I noticed someone posted a rooting video in YouTube with this CF AutoRoot for N9100
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXpPSjlzrok
Funny the video stops right before the failure and you don't see the "PASS" result in Odin!
So I don't know if anyone has been successful with this root at all!
sm-n9100
Hi
I rooted my SAMSUNG GT-N9100 with Cf-Auto root via Odin everything was ok process was passed and phone took a restart i checked the apps there was superSU but when i opened it, it just waiting and happened nothing. I restart my phone in recovery mode to update gapps or other superSu upte it giving a write error. it was not rooted you can't do anything.
since you buy N9100, so i consider u can read a few chinese (if not u can use google translate to help u)
i've seen in chinese forums they can root N9100 without problems, so i give u a few links to help
here is the step by step for root :
http://www.muzisoft.com/root/80910.html
and
in here it said u need to flash cwm first..this is the link for recovery
http://www.muzisoft.com/recovery/80827.html
and then after that u need to put supersu.zip to ur sd card, so this is the link for the supersu.zip
http://www.muzisoft.com/softs/bixu/80821.html
hope this can help root ur device
or actually u can download root apps in chinese, there are a few root apps that u can use for root the phone
Looks like the 9100 just got the recent OTA yesterday.
I'm rooted so need the full Odin flashable ANK5 from sammobile:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/39658/N9100ZCU1ANK5_N9100CHC1ANK5_CHC.zip/
Sent from my SM-N9100
Keep getting status 3 errors with chinese CWM.
Does any one know how to get twrp installed on sm-n9100.

Cf auto root works for my N9100...
Just flash it via Odin
Or either flash cmw recovery and it will ask you upon first reboot is you want to install su.
Both work for me

Hi Aligu,
Thank you for your help :good: . Have you also tried to flash a custom ROM into your Dual sim N9100 ?
Does the root method for n9100 china version also works on hong Kong version without any problems.

Does anyone know about this model? No one seems to know..
I have one problem. At the moment there are several ways to root galaxy note4, including philz recovery and cf auto root. However, as far as i know it works for only note4 model sm-n910 line. However in korea, upper model for n-910 is released, known as sm-n916 line. Both model have the same hardware and software specs, the only difference is their network connection specs. (N916 has faster and improved data lte connection) . Now the problem is that i have n916 model, and rooting for this device does not work with the method that can root n910 model. I thought it would work because everything software and hardware specs are the same. I am really frustrated because i cant root ㅜ.ㅜ
It's only been a month or twice since its release. The exact model is SM-N916L(LG U plus phone carrier. Alphabet that comes after 916 represents differet phone carriers. S is for skt, and K is for Kt, L is for Lg uplus). It is a upper model for SM-N910L galaxy note 4. You can see that SM-N910L model is present in autoroot([email protected]@eu) but not the upper model SM-N916L. Any ways i could help the developers to enable rooting for this device? perhaps finding you the stock firmware? Demand for this device than previous note4 n910 will increase. Really hope to root this device.
Could i get any help? (Btw i am living in korea using korean model). Really willing to donate if i could root this model!
hope i can get a reply as soon as possible. Have a good day~

I tell u this because i have the same phone and same model i have been searching
For like a week or so and found it
Hope u enjoy it
UPDATE - SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED SM-G530AZ!
Please read this post carefully if you wish to root your SM-G530AZ Cricket branded Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime phone. The file linked in the original post of this thread does NOT work with this particular model number!
Note: I cannot post links yet since I have not yet hit 10 posts (this is some kind of anti-spam measure I assume) so the link to the file I mention is (please fix the URL by removing spacing; the URL has no spaces in it): http : // download1031 . mediafire . com/1gu77v6t67sg/8mn3f1ppmkxk94b/SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip
Anyway, there was no answer to my question, as I'm impatient and cannot wait longer than a day, so I took the plunge and decided to try the root flash file listed here. The "1_cfroot_sm-g530h_mohan.tar.md5" provided in this thread did NOT work. Odin reported the following:
Upon power-cycling my phone by way of battery removal and insertion I found that the device would not boot. Thankfully, prior to trying this, I had done quite a bit of searching and remembered an alternate root image for the Grand Prime G530H called "SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip". It is available at (see link in NOTE above; you can also find it by Googling it I believe). At this point I figured it could not hurt anymore to try another image so I launched the device back into Odin mode and used the CF-Auto-Root.tar file included in the ZIP file.
I stopped yelling and screaming in anger because -- it worked! After updating the firmware Odin then restarted the phone three times. During the restarts, the pane in Odin's window above the "ID:COM" pane was grey and was labeled "RESET". After the third reboot the phone launched into Android. I then went into the Applications window on the phone and found "SuperSU". The phone was indeed rooted! Shortly after I launched SuperSU, the "RESET" label in Odin turned from grey to green and changed to "PASS!". I unplugged and plugged back in my phone so that I could use the Android SDK "adb" tool in Mac OS X (I ran Odin 3 from a Windows 7 virtual machine in VMWare Fusion) and launch a shell on the phone. To confirm all was well with my root access I typed "su" in the shell, confirmed authorization for the process when SuperSU prompted me, and there I was -- root!
And, for completeness, here is the Odin v3 output of my successful flash using CF-Auto-Root.tar located in SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip:
In summary:
The particular SM-G530H root firmware file linked by the OP in this thread will NOT work with a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530AZ model phone ("Cricket" wireless company branded). Instead, use the CF-Auto-Root.tar located in the SM-G530H-4.4.4.zip located at (see link in NOTE at top of this post).
Anyway, thank you for the post OP, and to whomever created both the firmware images (even though the first one failed on me!) for all the hard work you put in. You are the lifeblood of this community!

You're good. Just sounds like you are stuck in download mode. Try pulling your battery out. If that doesn't work, do a battery pull, and instead of powering up normally, press Volume Up, Home, and Power at the same time. This should allow you to do a factory reset.
If that still doesn't work, you're looking at flashing stock firmware through Odin. Very simple if you can follow instructions. There are many guides on this site that walk you through using Odin.

SM-G530AZ fix
I had the same problem with galaxy sm-g530az.
Put the phone into recovery mode.
Connect the phone to computer usb
Update phone with adb at the same time as you open Samsung kies.
If both are done at the same time Samsung kies will get a huge update. After it is done you should have Samsung kies lite. Use the firmware upgrade and initialisation process. It might still tell you it can't recognize the phone the first time or two. Just keep trying a couple times it will recognize the phone and complete the process.
Good luck

Sent from my SGH-T399N using XDA-Developers mobile app
I just updated my phone to OK1 firmware running on 5.1.1. This si the China variant and not hong kong. I was wondering if there is a working root for this firmware? I've tried the CF auto root of the 4.4.4 version but it sends me into a bootloop. I've searched everywhere but can't find anything. Any help will be appreciated.
I can't root N9100 android 5.1.1 (N9100ZCU1COK1) by root file CF-Auto-Root-trltechn-trlteduoszc-smn9100.zip for android 4.4.4.
Then is there no way to root for that firmware?
anyone? desperately need Gapps on my phone right now...
Hi. I have installed an aurora rom with version 5.1.1 N9100ZCU1COK1 and I'm rooted. But I just kept the root that I had before updating so I didn't use CF-Auto-Root or anything else this time... have you tried kingroot?

If your n4 is sm-n9100, bought from China, you can directly flash TGY n9100 rom, I got my n4 couple days before(SM-N9100, trlteduoszh), original rom is China version: N9100CHC1COK1-5.1.1, then just download TGY rom, N9100ZZH1BOF2, which is the latest TGY rom, android version: 5.0.1. After odin flash, do doubble wipe, then everythings just fine. like the orignial hongkong N9100, of casuse you get the stock google apps.
I got ota information yesterday, tgy rom got update to N9100ZHU1COL2-5.1.1, I'm not sure to do update, cos I'd heard 5.1.1 won't get root for the new "reactivation lock" issue, anyone have experience of root your tgy 5.1.1?
Chainfire has a new autoroot for N9100 5.1.1. You can download it HERE

Check post #60 in THIS thread.
SM-N9100 runing Adroid 5.1.1 rooted successfully.
I followed the following link and successfully rooted mine without any problems.
(sorry. I'm not allowed to post an outside link. Google "How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N9100 Android Lollipop 5.1.1" and you should be able to find the article on recovery-mode.com)
Good luck!
I recently bought N9100 in china and then I flashed my new phone with the latest stock rom N9100ZHS1CPE1 (Hongkong) android 5.1.1 via odin. Worked perfectly. No issues.

Thanks for your reply rjma, I had 6.0.1 and I used CF-Auto-Root for 6.0.1 to root but it didn't work, it got stuck on boot screen with some errors. That's why I downgraded to 5.1.1 because 6.0.1 doesn't have google appps.

I eventually rooted the phone and it's too easy to be true. I downloaded it's specific twrp, flashed it via Odin without the battery so it won't boot up after flashing, then boot into twrp recovery and flashed SuperSU.

N9100 only supports B7, it does not support B2 and B4. And this is the reason why you get a weak signal (B7 is high frequency with poor coverage).
Using the custom recovery posted above I managed to get root. just boot in download mode and remove the battery after that, flash twrp recovery from above link with odin (you can make a flashable .tar.md5 yourself or just use this one:
https://mega.nz/#!xNslVYLa!zDQdqxVyam7H2Q8xzvZnyQ7DyhPqy2jgs1TE1fLEJjo
. put the battery back in and boot into recovery, copy the supersu.zip (I used the latest one from this link: https://download.chainfire.eu/1012/SuperSU/SR3-SuperSU-v2.78-SR3-20161103171345.zip?retrieve_file=1 , but you can use the latest one). Flash it and reboot normally. Don't let twrp root your phone (it will ask you to root when you select "reboot system" from recovery, just select don't install root, or something like this).
Note that the above rooting method worked for the latest 5.1.1 firmware (from 10 October 2016) for Hong-Kong, PDA N9100ZHU1CPI3, CSC N9100ZZH1CPI3.
You can download the firmware from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/102145/N9100ZHU1CPI3_N9100ZZH1CPI3_TGY/
Also, that firmware fixed some rotation issues I had with the previous one.
Recently came into possession of a i9056 and it runs i9506xxucnk1 . Anybody know if the usual rooting method with odin works fine with the AU version of the phone? Would appreciate any thoughts on the subject.
Yes, it does.

I have a Chinese A8000 and I am desperate to get marshmallow, but before voiding the warranty do you think I can flash one of the firmware for a800f because Chinese variants will ALWAYS only take the firmware HK variants don't take like Singapore (XSP) firmware

Well it turns out it tells me unsupport dev type. A800F firmware may make the machine think you are flashing an unofficial ROM and tells you that you have to void the warranty by unlocking the CROM. Unfortunately this is a A8 model that is still not renewed on the Wi-Fi Alliance. There is a chance that Samsung does NOT do that update on the Wi-Fi Alliance page but still get marshmallow, for example: my Galaxy S5 G900H. It literally says 5.0 lollipop on that website but I installed marshmallow 4 months ago. Chinese models tend to get the updates very late but I hope at least it still receives updates.

Do NOT flash a800i marshmallow on an a8000. The a800i has a different chipset, it would probably brick your phone. You'll have to wait a while I guess, there doesn't seem to be any hk 6.0.1 roms out.
Just one day ago ther is news about A8 duos getting marshmallow. Which phone is that? As far as i know my A8000 IS duos device. Out of all other A8 models which one's marshmallow is possible to be put on A8000?

My friend is having trouble, i will install sm-a800i rom
my phone: sm-a8000
Are you sure this rom is on the phone ??
Update: Both the Hong Kong version and the Chinese version of A8000 received marshmallow update! The update brings much smoother app experience/animation and better battery life (which was already great since day 1) overall! I have just noticed that today and installed it. Trust me, I will NEVER go back to that old inefficient lollipop on this phone!
Yay! Marshmallow for A8000. Does anyone know if they made an autoroot for this yet or any root method? I see the other A8s have it but not this.

Hello, I'm not sure whether this is the right place for my problem but I will give it a try. I have a problem with TWPR recovery on sm-a8000 Chinese version.
Every time I try to flash any zips it fails.
Error 70 failed to mount preload (invalid argument ) I can't do factory reset either. I'm able to root the phone with auto root and the phone works normally except for the custom recovery. I tried to do factory reset in original recovery and it worked but during the boot in the original recovery it said no command.
My aim is to install Google play apps.
Here are some pictures of the recovery result. My internal memory is only 3Mb in the recovery but if I connect the phone to my computer it shows 16Gb.
Any idea what's going on?
