Hi,
I think and hope I speak for many of the note 10.1 2014 tablet users when I desperately ask for a dark theme for out tablets.
I have managed to make most of the tablet dark thanks to hyperdrive rom but I cannot for the love of mankind make the settings background dark.
I hate bright white background light as the settings have and would like to see themers make this compatible for all roms made for note 10.1 2014.
I also see many themes out but they are all based on white where the themers just change the fonts and add other icons post it and called it theming o.0 but I just call it minor changes.
Please I know there are a few themers with good skill sets that could give us some awesome themes.
Just look at bobcats roms for note 2 and note 3 I mean he's got very good theming skills and it's just a shame he don't have this tablet ; (
Am I the only one felling this way or are there more like me ?
Hmm seams like i am the only one.
I have noticed that these threads are dead lately. Seems like people have either got rid of their Note 10.1 tablets or just no longer visit XDA.
Yes very dead ; (
I just wished we had better development for this great device but sadly majority of people are morans and go for Apple tablets or at least amongst the people I know.

Tbh at times I feel like a moron owning this Tablet HAHA, the three things Apple owners always say are the Customer Service, Apple Software updates are great (minus the few hiccups of iOS releases but that stuff happens with all new releases) and generally speedy UI with no bloat.
It's like some people on here having battery problems would have to probably be without their tablet for 2 weeks if they sent it to Samsung to get fixed and I waited about 9 Months for the official KitKat release.
I do love this Tablet but Samsung really do an aweful job of looking after their customers. This doesnt mean I'm going to be buying Apple product anytime soon - I aint an idiot haha (oh wait did I just contradict myself
P.s sorry to go off topic :/

I would love to see some themers make a dark ui for this tablet, maybe pm some themers and see if anyone could do us a solid, maybe offer some donations?
Off topic, I don't unstand why so many people complain A) about battery life, i see great life on mine, waaaaay better than my touchpad ever got. Usually 1 week between charges. And B) after switching to Xkat from hyperdrive, tablet performance and smoothness couldn't be better.

It seems like there isn't much anyone here at the minute, worth a shot PMing people.
I get great battery life too but these threads are littered with people losing 10% in a matter of minutes doing nothing that requires high power usage. Yeah like you say you are rooted and changed ROM, I ain't so I had to de-bloat by disabling about 50 things plus un-installing apps and also have switched off a lot of gimmicky things aswell ... but yeah couldn't be happier with the speed now tbh but its just annoying having to do this but its not just Samsung its all the Asian phone manufacteres.

So after reading your post i wanted to try to figure out if i can change the backround color for settings.I know a little something about theming.I understand how to decompile and recompile and how to change alot of other things.Im going to try to do it and will let you know if i succeed. Its going to be alot of reading and try to figure out what to change.I dont have much time but when i have free time im going to try to change.Im at work and have the framework decompiled on my computer. If you can help try to figure out what file to change that would be a big help.I found how to change the settings backround for a phone but it doesnt work on our tablet.I think i need to change holo light but not sure.Ill keep you posted if i figure out how to do.

I'm pretty sure it's in framework, not settings because iv'e done it before so your'e stepping in the right direction. I'm not a themer by the way, more of a modder. I tried taking a shortut by throwing some Tab S stuff into a VR Theme zip but it didn't work so I guess i'm gonna hvae to do it the proper way lol

Here is Settings Background Theme:
It should change the colour to the same one as the Tab S. This zip should work on any rom but if it doesn't then let me know :good:
The only reason I didn't test it is because of laziness and because i'm not that concerned with theming my tablet, I mostly theme things for my phone
As always, make sure you have a backup (framework-res)
here's the zip :good:
Settings_test.zip - 558.65 KB

I am heading home now from work, will try when i get home.I have alot of exposed apps that i use for changing stuff.Ill turn them all off. Thanks
Edit=So I flashed version 2 and tablet wouldn't boot. I cleared dalvik and cache.I tried 2x. I then flashed the revert one and it worked and reverted.Im going to make sure I had everything unchecked in exposed.I use wanam, gravity box and tweaks in hyperdrive to theme diffrent things. It seems to look a little diffrent now then before but the backround is still white. Is it white in the one you made or a diffrent color? The sliders look a little smaller then before also.
Edit 2=I still had something checked in exposed so after unchecking flashed version 2 wiped and rebooted but still nothing changed. This time it booted up.
Edit 3= So I put my backed up framework back on and there is a diffrence in some things then yours. The settings top bar is a diffrent color where as mine is grey. The slider buttons are smaller and some apps have a blue bar on top with your framework. Example root explorer has black top bar on mine and blue top bar on yours. The settings though is still white on right side and grey on left side. I think someone else needs to test cause I have so many diffrent things themed that maybe something is throwing off your test one.
Hm so close and yet so far ?

Everybody is free to test. Just subscribe to this thread and keep flashing builds. They will be constantly updated very quickly.
Subscribe - Everything will be posted here
Due to the large amount of testers, I think it'll be better if I post builds in this thread, and then you can go out testing. If anybody sees a bug, post it here, so that all other testers can confirm.
This also means that anybody who isn't an 'official' tester can also test, I do not mind. Just make sure you give good feedback.
Stable
For now, flash the stable as it shouldn't have any problems but report anything fishy.
I will be continuously posting builds, so keep a nandroid of this to be safe.
Build #2
Build #2
Changelog:
-Cleaned up build.prop
-Increased LCD density from 204 to 216 (still down from stock 240)
Should be stable, but who knows.
Try to install stuff from Market. It might say 'incompatible with device' so then go to CM settings and put compatibility mode ON. Then try.
Build #3
Build #3
Changelog:
-Based on Build #2
-Edited ICS keyboard. Comment on any strange behaviour as I have removed languages. Also, comment on how good it is and if it is too small.
Please send me screenshots of the ICS keyboard.
Thanks.
So for the official testers, should we start with stable and work our way up the builds. Sorry I was asleep when you posted everything. The time difference really makes a difference. Lol

Yes that's right. Keep a nandroid of Stable just in case.
And yes this timezone thing is gonna be a big difference.
Can somebody post me a screeny of a Build #2 or #3 About Phone (scrolled down to bottom)?
I need to check something and I want to see the LCD density.
Hey!
Nice ROM! Fingerprint works (thank's Atrix Dev-Team!), no FC, everything seems very speedy. 1 suggestion, maybe increase the resolution? It's far too small for everyday use, especially when walking around outside
Also, i noticed there's no theme chooser, is that on purpose? Nice lockscreen themes btw, hope you give credit where it's due
It also seems to be themed (the reboot menu options look different) so it's a system level theme which actually looks nice, but i can't try since i already had LunarUI applied. Let me revert it and install the ROM again, i'll post a screenshot of how it looks like.
Also i was on STABLE version, i'll install Build #4 to test the new LCD Density and keyboard.
Build #4
Build #4
Changelog:
*Test build!*
-Based on Build #3
-Removed ICS keybaord to test Blur keyboard (if it works or not)
-Replaced services.jar to allow 1% battery mod
Try the keyboard and (if it works) post me screenies of it. Also, there's a bug that the battery only goes down in 5% steps, the services.jar should fix it, so comment on whether it has.
EDIT: THIS IS UNSTABLE!!! DO NOT FLASH!!!!!!

Yes, the removal of theme chooser was on purpose. If I release the Rom, I'll make a .zip to reapply it, but for now, I can't.
Everything is supposed to look 'smaller' but the screenies look like it's a bit toooo small.
Try build #2+ as I have increased the LCD density a bit and post me screenies again.

I'm aware it's supposed to look smaller, and i'm glad that finally we're seeing the full potential of our screen realised. However, as you said, it was a bit tooo small in the first build, i'm trying build #4, does that have the updated densities?

Yes #2+ has updated.
Still smaller than stock (240).
But bigger than current (204)
It's now at 216.

I think you shouldn´t suggest to flash ANY LP1-6 kernel anymore. Today, everybody should know the danger of them...
MY 2 CENTS:
Ultrafine! The only one thing missing is the possibility to change the DPI!!
Works well enough but Samsung seem to have tried to hide the simple elegance of stock ICS in some ways. Thinking of going back to CM9. Not much of a pen user anyway ,

Loving the ICS release except for one thing.....
I toggle silent/vibrate on and off quite a lot. When I do this, using the long-press power-button menu, some wonderful person has decided that I am so clueless, I need a confirmation dialogue box.
"Warning! Silent mode will be enabled OK/Cancel"
Gasp! Really!?!?! I had no idea that would happen when I purposely held down the power button and then with delicate intent selected the desired silent-mode function.
Just. Wow. It's supposed to be a shortcut, and Samsung just ruined it. Of course, I flashed completely stock without root, so I'm probably stuck with this until somebody figures out how to root this stock ICS release. (Maybe they have already, I'll do a search).
It's a small complaint to most people, but I toggle silent on and off many times a day. This is a huge annoyance. I'll see if there are any lockscreen toggles I can get - actually, EVERY single android release or skin should have silent/vibrate toggle on the lock screen, as it was in the earlier android releases. Motorola seems to be the only one who realises this. Sheesh....
Generally good, am upset by the lack of 160 dpi/tablet conform, just be aware if you're going for lower dpi's you'll face fc's

DISCLAIMER: Please don't ask for ROM, dump, files, where I got the ROM etc etc etc. Can't say anything and will ignore any requests.
Next patch version for the Z is still 4.1.2 but has some optimizations, let me name a few:
- Soft keys + notification bar background changed, it is now black and looks a lot better.
- There is an option to adjust the white balance of the screen
- There is an options to enable/disable the notification light
- Stamina seems to work much better, better standby time plus LED notification works with stamina on. Also noticed that apps in stamina exception list work much better now.
- WiFi reception is MUCH better.
- Camera opens faster than before, still a bit slow for my taste but it is a step to the right direction.
- The device is faster in general. Have tested this with another not updated device and it is in the scale of ms but still it is faster and more responsive.
I might be missing a few things here but it is a nice patch, I know it is not 4.2 but still it is a good patch.
Accepting questions to test things but I can't always answer very fast.
EDIT: forgot to write that the exploit for root doesn't work anymore.
Cool thank you Hopefully it won't be long until this is out!

Improved The Photo quality?
This is most likely real! Haven't heard all of the listed improvements but we received internal confirmation on most of them.
Does this one already include the proper Music Unlimited integration in Walkman or is that planned for another release? I know it's coming but never had any confirmation on whether that would be in 4.1 or 4.2.

Since you ended your sentence with a QUESTION mark, you technically did ask a question.

EDIT: forgot to write that the exploit for root doesn't work anymore.

PS3 Sixaxis controller support ? Like in the SP ?
I hope you're right, and I hope a WiFi fix will be included as well - will be very good update, though I really like grey navigation/status bar...
Cool, but primary hope for less compression of picture taken (size up to at least 4-5mb per pic) ><
Credibility
Sooo basically no source, no answer no screens, no questions = 0 credibility.
He gets 2 points for being a senior poster but basically what was the point in posting this?
How about I post an article saying that Sony Z will be the first phone to get KLP and then put a disclaimer similar to yours and expect people to believe me, long story short we will only know how right/wrong you are when it comes out which will be about the same time we find out all the new features so again what was the point
This guy has a trusted sources.

I'm more inclined to believe him, because he does have a history of predicting/leaking things for the XZ. Search his forum posts.

Indeed, exploit root doesn't work with this version...
I'm a recent purchaser of the tabpro 8.4, thanks to Best Buy selling them so cheap. I sold my Nexus 7 (2012) to buy it. I Hated the stock touchwiz software but loved the hardware. First rooted and flashed an early cm12 build. It was buggy.! I've been flashing each new cm12 nightly since then. Several nagging issues remain. They are mainly cosmetic, but irksome. I flashed cm11 m12 today, and am a very happy camper. I recommend PA Stock Gapps to flash with it. So many of google's apps have been updated, especially the Google Now Launcher, that you really get a heaping helping of material design, without even needing lollipop! I'm not having any issues with cm11. I would recommend also downloading the new google exchange services apk, so that you can use gmail to check your exchange mail like you can in lollipop.
I'll be using this rom until I get word that cm12 is a bit more stable.

Seconded. I've had ZERO problems with CM11 M12 on the Tab Pro 8.4.
i love cm11 m12 too... on tab pro 8.4. i only noticed battery drain compared to stock.
have you some tip ? for example alternative kernel or other?
Now that they have a decent nightly build of cm12 out u should try it... I was gonna wait for the official build but unjust got bored the other day so I backed everything up and made the switch... Its freaking awesome... Very stable, awesome new features and it seems like my tab is even running smoother! I did a benchmark with antutu and my overall went up a little... I love it. Plus, u don't have to be a developer to make yourvown themes now, there's a diy theme builder program out that's very user friendly. Just a thought. BTW, thanks to the CyanogenMod developers!!! You guys kick ass!!!
Little things like on screen buttons being out of proportion, charging icon being held off the screen when powered off and charging, and volume button reorient not working keeps me away from CM12. Kinda feels like these would be comparatively easy to fix. I think it has to do with our tab's insanely high screen resolution.

Hi
Which method did you use to root and flash? I am going to do that for my 8.4 and I was thinking to use this http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_mondrianwifi . Is your method any simpler?
thanks

I tried the on screen buttons but found it irritating when trying to type and trying to hit the spacebar, hitting home instead, but I'm not sure they're out of proportion; they might be a little too small. As for the charging icon being held off the screen, I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I've not experienced any issues with it. I haven't tested the volume button reorientation, but I may have to tonight.
All said and done, I installed CM12 yesterday, and I'm super happy with it. I got my 10.1 last week and I was ready to return it because it was so sluggish. I haven't had a single hiccup yet with CM12 (2/15 nightly). LOVING this tablet now and not giving it up.

I'm not 100% sure that it's the same for the 8.4, but all I did for the 10.1 is use Odin to flash TWRP, then flashed CM12 and gapps through recovery. You can enable root in the settings UI.

Thanks I will give it a try. Which portion of the installation has the root setting? Do you mean TWRP or CM?
CM is more fluid than the TouchWiz, the problem is that many functions are lost, using two applications on the screen, for example. And the battery is drained extremely fast compared to Samsung TouchWiz, the reason probable is the optimization they do for tablets, after all, the rom is made for mobile phones that have much smaller screen. Currently the only manufacturer doing some optimization and customization for tablets is Samsung.

Sounds like you have a 10.1 instead of an 8.4. The back button on my 8.4 in on screen navigation is bigger than the others in cm12. The charging icon is messed up too when the tab is off, being half off the screen.

I mean settings in Android, in the CM12 ROM. I believe it's under Developer Settings (tab build number like 6-7 times to enable), and you can control what has root privileges (ADB, Apps, Both, None). They don't use SuperSU anymore.

Ahhh, OK. You have the 8.4. Yes, I was talking about the 10.1. I think development started on the 8.4 a little later (I could be wrong). Sounds frustrating though.
Can anyone uk user confirm please ifBBC iplayer is working On C 12?
How is the battery life compared to touchwiz? I tried cm11 a couple months back but it was really buggy and had to go back to touchwiz. I'm also not sure about swithting to cm11 because of touchwiz features like multi-window and screencast, mainly screencast with the stock video app.
Well I put cm12 on.and wow its made a hell of a difference, fast.Battery life seems to be great deep sleep and screen on time. Illyreport back when I've done a full charge discharge.
I just did a wipe and flashed the ROM. It removed all Samsung apps and touchwiz and left my otherapps and games in place!
Very p!eased, feels like it should of as. I was very disappointed with the lag of this tab.
Downsides
IPlayer however doesn't seems to work yet.
And I had to alter the WiFi config file to see my router.
Switched ccode to GB from 00
Regarding battery life on MondrianWifi, I just switched off Location services completely because I don't use it on my tablet, and I get six days of standby with several hours of screen on time over that period. No screenshots at the moment, and I don't really game on the tablet.

I tried it but i am thinking of moving back to stock because there is no way to move apps back to sdcard . App2SD requires kernel support and it is not built in for CM11

Very fast and smooth. Don't like the colors. Custom romz based on LP should really fly. Can't wait.

Love it. Seems a little buggy occasionally, slows down or apps crash. I may do a backup and factory reset/restore and see if that's better.
When it's not slowing down it's very snappy. Notifications are awesome.
I wish lockscreen notifications were a little more customizable. Only options available are:
Show all content
Hide Sensitive Content
Do not show notifications
What's missing is one that should say, "Do not show persistent notifications" For instance, I use copy bubble and sprint direct connect which are always in my notification panel. I had to turn that off or it will always show up on my lock screen.
I can't attest to touchwiz, I looked at it for a moment and then went back to Nova.

I like that it's smoother, but for a second i thought my update had reverted. I was hoping it had a more lollipop look, but i guess i can't complain.
As for the recents app, it's not as instant as i would like it to be , but that's fine too. I wish xposed worked because this DPI is driving me crazy, it's so ****ing big!.
overall i like it more than kitkat, just because it's lollipop and buttery smooth. Customization should come soon, so I will just to wait patiently.

Mine seems pretty good. I've been using it checking it out all day.
Have you cleared the cache and restarted afterwards?
The update/upgrade was not running smooth. Jerky screen, some apps crashing. Then I did factory reset and reinstalled my apps fresh. Now it is very responsive.
The only thing I can't figure out is why my pictures in /storage/extSdCard/DCIM/Camera/ are not visible in the Gallery app. New pictures taken with the camera are saved in that same directory and are visible, but not the old ones. They are visible however in a file explorer.
In fact none of the media files on my extSdCard are visible in Gallery or Video. They are only visible in a file explorer.
Otherwise I like it....even the weird colors.
To get the Gallery to see the old photos and videos, I created new empty folders using a file manager then copied the photo/video contents of the old folders into the new empty folders.
so far so good on my end... I did a hard reset after the update and have yet to experience any bugs, lags, or force closes. I use the Google Now Launcher and the new animations look great. Can't speak for battery life yet as I just updated this morning but I'm not too worried as the Note 4 has always been great.
I did notice when I was initially on TouchWiz the status bar had a gradient tint to it... anyone else seeing this? It had always been fully transparent before
My battery life seems better with lollipop. I love the new colors in messaging. And i can't remember but the keyboard seems different. I like it a lot more the letters seem spaced out a little further and makes it easier to type.

Mines decent
It's like having a new phone. It's just that smooth. Samsung should be proud of their work.
OTOH, I love the new colors during the day, but at night it would be awesome to have a blacked out color scheme.
Agree with someone else's comment that it feels like an entirely new phone (even though Kitkat wasn't that bad).
Havent had it long enough to test battery life. Do wish there was the ability to swipe between tabs like the dialer and the ability to remove persistent notifications.
Lollipop FTW

I would suggest the data reset option. I was having similar crash/slowness
So I uberwiped the phone in TWRP, then ODIN back to NK2 KK, upgraded OTA to L, did another factory data reset, then set up phone/rooted/installed TWRP. Phone is wayyyy faster and more responsive and zero crashes now
I scored a 52408 on ANTUTU benchmark with a stock rom and kernel.
Can not wait for custom LP roms, this phone will be killer at that point

Try a data reset, I had simlar issues and now they seem to be gone
You have to remember, the OTA update was over 1GB (compressed) and it completely rewrote the phones memory AND changed the run time to ART. You should probably expect some issues

Basically same here. Not updating till kernels are equally as far as kk, can theme some, and exposed works. I'm just fine on Xnote rc2 with AEL 7.2 kernel.
