Stock recovery and warranty bit - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to get the stock recovery back onto the SM-N900V? I tried putting CWM and TWRP custom recoveries on there before I knew it the phone had a locked bootloader. Where can I find the correctly signed stock recovery?
Also, how can I unset the "warranty bit"?

I think you just have to Odin the stock tar . If you were on the leak NC2 you can Odin that or the latest NC4. If your were on NC4 you have to Odin the NC4 tar. They are both found in the android dev section under Bean's firmware thread.

Thanks, I was hoping the stock tar was all I needed to do. I was afraid that I'd end up flashing a ROM that I could not boot because I had cache that I could not clear. You are sure that will reset the recovery?

Yes , if it's the full stock tar it will replace the recovery as well.

But nothing will reset the knox warranty bit. It is literally an electronic fuse...once blown. ..only replacing the whole motherboard will reset it.

Did you clear cache and dalvic when you flashed it? And have you tried clearing system, data, and cache and dalvic??
If anything make a backup with safestrap and restore original NC4 via odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524572
Also, what rom are you on? Some roms only support certain kernels/firmwares.

Wll Odin Back to Factory Re-Partion?

So I have a ROM Slot created in Safestrap. If I Odin back to factory using the appropriate tar.md5 file will it re-partition the internal storage and wipe out the Safestrap partition? Totally stock phone?
Excuse my ignorance, but afaik you aren't supposed to have a rom slot cause it creates issues.

Yeah I found that out after the fact ... Not real hot on the idea of over-writing the stock partition with a ROM just yet I figure I'll give him time to sort out Safestrap. Hence the question; Will Odin back to factory wipe out safestrap partition and return to totally stock arrangement?

If you include the NCG Pit file in Odin then yes, it will. Without that file Odin will not re-partition your phone. Regardless of which route you take, if you Odin to stock w/o the Pit file Safestap will still be erased and you'll be back to a totally factory stock configuration.

Do NOT flash NB1. KEEP MDL. NB1 WILL LOCK YOU FROM SLIMKAT AND ANYTHING.
Make sure you wiped data in recovery before you tried booting. The modem would mess it up but it should have been flashed over with the full tar. Just try wiping in the stock recovery first.

Download the NG2 tar from Sammobile or from another source. Put the phone in download mode and put the tar in the correct spot and Odin the phone . its quite simple. Just a heads up back up anything on your internal memory as you may have to perform a factory reset to get the phone not boot up.

That thread only had a tar for the modem and not the software.
To download the tar you do not need to he signed up.

I have the s4 sgh l337 with the mdl bootloader from way back. was running Goldeneye rom and it started giving me issues. so i thought id flash the Albe s6 port rom and thought i needed safestrap for it. so i installed safestrap by installing the apk and busybox and the nc1 flasher and rebooted.
now i get the SYSTEM SOFTWARE NOT AUTHORIZED FOR AT&T and i have no recover either! its the stock recovery and im not sure how i can flash another kernel or recovery back to just reset the whole phone.
any help would be much appreciated

If you'd sure you are still on MDL bootloader then you need to odin the stock MDL firmware.
Bear in mind that if your bootloader is no longer MDL then flashing the MDL firmware could trip the knox counter.
Safestrap is for the i337 with newer bootloader. It works on NC1 bootloader as such you need NC1 flasher.
Golden eye has an option to choose between old bootloaders (MDL/MDB) and Safestrap users. Albe S6 port does not appear to have that option.

Glad to hear it.
It did happen to me when I odin the MDB firmware on my MDL phone three years back. The MDL firmware I downloaded had checksum error so I had to use the MDB firmware instead.
