Restore stock rom for i9505 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A bit of a noob question. I want to restore the stock rom to my i9505. Does it matter which contrary stock rom I use? The phone was bought in the USA but I'm using it in Israel.

Yes it does pal! Find the correct Rom at sammobile.com
Not entirely sure what country code to use for the US and carrier it should be found on the side of the box of your phone and
flash with odin

I doesn't matter which I9505 rom you flash. You probably need a 4.4.2 rom though. You can pick any 4.4.2 you want.

Galaxy S2 2.3.4 firmware

What is the easiest way to install 2.3.4 version or newer to my Galaxy S2 4G current is 2.3.3. I will be using it in Canada.. Thanks
Official way: Check if KIES is offering you a firmware
Unofficial way: You can download the firmware from the Dev section Stock or Custom and then flash it using Odin
Stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Also explains how to flash. Please read how to flash and DO SELECT only what is given. Selecing PIT in ODIN leads to BRICK and unusable
Thanks for the info!!! If I do update it will put everything to normal right and it will unroot the phone?

Don't understand the 'put everything to normal' part but after flashing any ROM you will lose root. Need to re root.
Regards.

Thats fine no too worry about root normal i meant everything will go back to stock or factory state condition. That triangle will go away too right after flashing the rom? thanks for your quick response
If you use one of the stock roms there is no yellow triangle. You wont see carrier animation on boot, but that is a good thing in my opinion. It's as if you bought an unlocked phone not tied to a network.

I wonder if this court injunction by apple will slow the rollout of v2.3.4 to the rest of Europe, I hope not i am sick of waiting as it is.
So just odin right? Not sure which stock rom I can use with it been searching around here and seen so many of them.

Noob! Need help flashing Rom

Hey guys I just picked up my Galaxy s3 today and I noticed it's the Telstra model i9300t and I want to flash original jelly bean Rom without Telstra crap. Can someone please help me?

Here's the sammobiles firmware page for the I9300T but it seems all the firmware for Australia are carrier firmware, I however don't think there would be issues flashing the New Zealand unbranded Rom which will remove the Telstra bloatware.
Or you could just root and uninstall the Telstra bloatware via Titanium.

4G not working, urgent

I flashed an international firmware on a Sprint S4, not knowing that it breaks root and custom recovery. I also lost my 4G. I can fix everything except the 4G. No idea how to begin, any idea?

Well you can begin by going to Sammobile and download the carrier's stock firmware. Flash it via odin. Stay on stock until you figure out how to fix 4G on custom roms.
Good luck, Im sure you'd be able fix it by flashing stock rom
Have you tried fishing the Sprint modem?

Sprint Modem? Can you go a bit more in detail please?
Indie offers an "EnableLTE.zip in the i9505 Omega Thread
This maybe fix the problem, OR AT WORST BRICK YOUR DEVICE
Honestly i have no idea if this works, so be careful.
Indie or another skilled person should know of this fix the LTE bug on your Sprint S4.

The modem is part of any full firmware and is usually different for each provider, region etc.
I believe the US lte frequencies are different to most of the other countries so if you don't have the correct modem your phone may be looking for the wrong frequency.
Try this link: http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Devices/Samsung Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720)/Modems
Flash the .tar file in odin in the phone section.
Edit: just remembered when the first ipad to have lte was released in Australia, Apple and resellers got into big trouble for marketing it as lte/4g. This was because although it was lte it didn't actually work with Australian lte frequencies. So as I mentioned above you will need a US modem. That's my best bet to get it going again.

Flashed it successfully, yet no 4g. Could it be that I need to flash a different firmware?

Official 4.3 update for i9505

Do we need to do a ODIN flash or anything to get the phone properly up to date?
and is there a definite way to tell which 4.3 firmware to exactly get for your i9505?

if your 9505 is carrier-locked, then you've gotta go with the carrier-specific firmware if not, then make sure it's not carrier-locked
And if not carrier locked can you do dbt to any other csc?

Pretty sure it's just a German CSC code, similar to the UK's BTU CSC code which stands for British Unbranded, therefore DBT will stand for something in German.

4.4.2 Firmware

Hey guys.
Had some great advice in some of my other questions and I thank everyone who posted. Everything always helps.
Just before I do this, as I've been informed that you can't go back to 4.3 after updating bootloader to 4.4.2.
Which would be the latest 4.4.2 firmware I should flash for N9005 in Australia? I then want to flash custom roms like Xnote etc. Knox will be triggered after I flash a custom recovery am I right?
Thanks guys. As far as I can see NC3 is the latest.

Oh ok cool thank you.
Thing is what if I was to flash the Netherlands firmware, will I still be able to use it stock if I wish in Australia? I'll probably go straight to custom rom but just seeing. I'm worried if I flash a certain countries firmware I'll brick my device...

no u won't brick, as long as u choose the correct firmware for your device.
and do a proper step by ODIN PC.
btw, u open 2 similar threads ?
Yeah I know, just trying to get more info. As a thread gets seen once, it's forgotten about pretty quickly and not many people get to see it, or have the opportunity to comment. especially in the q&a section.

Another thing I wanted to check was if I flashed ND3...can use like NB7 or NB3 or any earlier 4.4.2 rom?? Custom obviously? Heard some scary things if you go back...maybe that's to a non-knox firmware...
Thanks!!

You can flash other (earlier) 4.4.2 roms but you can`t downgrade to a 4.3 rom afaik
Oh cool. That's fine then. All these have open MSCs right? So I could technically use it stock? There will be an English option? I mean if it's all on there I don't know why Samsung doesn't release it at a faster rate, ir more at once... If indeed it works fine. I'll probably change straight away to a custom rom but still, it'd be nice to see what vanilla kit kit is like.
