thanks to ATTACK for pointing us in the right direction I have not had an update notification yet

I stupidly deleted my TiBu backup and sadly don't have the apk for the last My Verizon app before they started requesting root access. Does anyone have the apk for that version? Many thanks in advance.

I don't know if it's helpful, but I simply went into SuperSU and DENIED "My Verizon" root access. Not sure if that'll accomplish the same thing as installing a version of MyVZW that is "pre-root requesting."

True but I haven't felt 100% fully comfy with the latest version. Thankfully it still works just fine with by passing the root access request but it still makes me a bit weary if you know what I mean.

Has anyone found a method to root the 4.4.2 kitkat OTA yet? If so a link would be great! Thanks in advance!

I also am desperate for someone much better at this than I to find a method. I hate the OTA! If we can't root, has anyone figured out how to remove the odin write protection so we can revert to the leak?
I'm stuck at this point waiting for a root method too. Does anyone know if Kingo will eventually add kitkat ? Have they been slowly upgrading the tool so far?

every one of those were saying no root method yet. So thanks for the help..
Chances are it will be a long while before we get any sort of root. I willingly took NC4 and have no regrets. Maybe one day we will get an unlock.

Fair question but i don't recall seeing many stickies on things you can't do
Also something like this requires little more than a Google search really

Perhaps, but maybe it will bring more awareness to it. I also installed the update without doing research to see if it could be rooted after, and now am sorely disappointed I cannot load cyanogenmod on it.
I've been searching all over and it still doesn't look like there's a solution for it. Hopefully somebody more experienced comes along, reads this, and figures out a solution for the rest of us mere mortals
Refer to the sticky that says do not OTA update.

Refer to my utter lack of time travel capabilities, else I'd have flashed NC2 in the first place and not be in this pickle. (EDIT--should read "reading" capabilities, not "travel"!)

Download Towelroot version 3 from http://towelroot.com/
Install and open, click "welcome to towelroot v3" 3 times and enter text: 1337 0 1 7380 4 0
Install Super User https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
Firmware is located here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/d...NB1_617169_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.zip
Firmware update to ANE4: http://www.mediafire.com/download/yilad35edwsju1n/ANE4_update.zip
you will then have root:
Protect Root
To protect Root:
Rename or freeze SDM and Security policy updates SPD_v2_1312_2_1
Can't wait
I cannot Wait to try this.
Good New and Bad News
This worked on my P905V. I was able to root device and Knox was not tripped. Unfortunately I messed with DPI, device started but several system services/app crash in a loop. I went to recovery and clear cache, boot loop on Verizon logo. Also tried wiping data from recovery, boot loop on Verizon log.
AWESOME
AWESOME Thanks for the HEADS UP. It worked perfectly..Now to determine what bloatwear can safely be uninstalled and if I can get rid of the magazine page
I was able to use the Verizon Repair Assistant to get the device back up and running.

Using Kies I have the Verizon firmware downloaded now in case anyone needs it.
Rooted mine yesterday afternoon, froze all of the Update apps, got rid of Knox, removed bloatware....man, this thing is so much more fluid now.

Is it possible, with the tablet version with P905V rutted reflash it another regional firmware for P905? If possible, tell me how to do it. Just need languages that are not in the firmware P905VVRUANB1.
I just bit the bullet and got one today! I love love love this [email protected]!!! Can someone confirm for me about root, does it trip knox? Also are there any ROMS expected?
If I do this will it keep the tablet from taking updates. In the past I did not care to much since there were always Roms out there but with this Tab it seems no Roms are coming anytime soon.
This is for anyone who has root on 4.4.4 but also has write protection enabled. (Used SuperSU to keep root through the update).
This app will allow you to enable the native WiFi tether without modifying the system (Which we can't do anyways). I have been using this for about an hour with no issues.
Finally, I didn't make this, I'm just someone who's stuck between places and need WiFi tethering for my job and hate spending money. Use at your own risk of course.

Its the same thing as the exploit I released in the dev section. Nice repost

Link? I looked through both Dev sections and only saw exploits that require you to modify system files and build.prop. Sorry nonetheless if this has been posted before.

Yeah i just made the connection now. Forgot not everyone has unlocked BLs. In theory, if the app can make the change, you can too.
The app literally applies the same exact exploit as the one I've already released.

No it does not, it runs a command after the phone is booted that while requiring root to run does not make any actually changes to the system.
Again, I have a 1 for write protection (meaning its enabled) and SuperSU basically stuck in System and have no issues running the app, making WiFi hot spots, and having devices connected to it.
Make sure you have root survival set up as well, I'm not sure if the update would remove root without it but I don't think you would want to take that chance.

I attempted this exploit by you TopSnake ( http://bit.ly/1zz1JOE) and after rebooting my build.prop was deleted and all renamed files were restored to their original state. Was there another exploit you were talking about? This was the only one I could find in the dev section for the latest update.
I do know that you can run a simple command to do what this app does but this app can run on boot up which saves some time.

The OP stated he was write protected, so he can't copy the build.prop over the stock one. My app doesn't write to the system it runs the /system/bin/setprop command to set the property. The build.prop sets the property on boot but after the phone has booted the build.prop is never read again. So replacing it on write protected devices won't work.

Do any of you know which files to freeze using Titanium in order to block OTA updates?
I have a rooted (Towelroot) USA AT&T Galaxy S5.
I cannot find SDM.APK on my phone. It is not in System / Apps
Please help if you can.
Thanks!
I have a G900F (international version) on ANE2 rooted with towelroot. I used Titanium Backup to freeze Software Update 3.14..... and Software Update 3.19.1.... Just look them up in "backup/restore" in Titanium.

I just did a search with Root Explorer w/ SuperSU permission and sdm.apk is not on the phone....anywhere.
I'm guessing Towelroot must have removed it?
There is one system app to install OTA updates and another to notify (pester) you about them. You just need to rename, move, delete or freeze those. Typically FOTA and SDM respectively. Verizon in particular, and quite often ATT like to rename the standard app names though, so only the gods know what ATT is calling them.
That doesn't mean that they aren't still pretty obvious if you peruse the system app folders. Or do a simple search. This question has been asked and answered many times in existing threads.
