[Q] is it a earpiece malfunction ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok this may have bin brought up if it has sorry -
well i have had my nexus 4 or a little over a year never dropped it never got it wet i have kept great care of it -then i updated to 4.3 and my wifi wouldnt work i knew it was soft ware issues so i rooted it - it fixed my problem and i was using a pacman rom for the longest time - now my ear speaker isnt producing sound when i make or receive a call -- it does work on speaker phone but its either the sensor or the screen - im leaning towards soft ware in the sensor - that makes it almost impossible for my screen to turn on while in call mode ill have to hit the power button continuously till i can actually get it to pop on long enough to me to hit the speaker button as soon as i hit it everything functions normal -- i have since stripped everything i could think of on my phone i have reverted back to oem rom and radio - im not sure what else to do if any one can think of some thing or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated

Can't hang up calls if device goes into power saving during call

well it's been bugging me for a while, and lately it got me in a sticky situation.
basically if i'm on a call, and i wish to end it.. pressing the hardware hangup button doesn't really do anything if the display is off (i.e: the device switches to power saving while on a long call)
and the only ways to hangup is either to wait for the other party to hang up, or press the power button first, wait for the display to light up, then hang up..
i've always had this problem, even with the latest i-mate ROM available, and didn't think much of it, till today i finished a call, and somehow it skipped my mind that my phone acts stupid that way, and the person on the other end heard somethings they shouldn't have heard while i thought the line was already hung :S
anyway.. is there a known fix to this?
i'm thinking of upgrading to Jwrightmcps' AKU 3.2 Rom Update 1.90.94
any clues if that could help?
is it a problem in the radio ROM?
thanks in advance

As u have tried two ROMs even the official one also So, I don't think so that this is something related to OS as Jwright's ROM is pretty much stable and fast indeed so u can give it a try and if it doesn't work for u then IMHO it's a hardware thing to be worried about .
you can set like this:
open start-settings-buttons-lock
then choose do not lock buttons.
but if you set like this, press any key(except tape screen)will wake it up.

question about power button

I accidently dropped my phone earlier today, now the power button doesn't have the click like the other buttons on the side of the phone. Anyone else experience this problem and come up with a solution to it or am I just **** out of luck?
thanks
I fix phones as a sort of living and the only times ive seen this happen is when someone drops it and the switch is out of place (and has snapped off)
in your case, if this has happened then you wouldnt be able to turn on/off the phone... is this the case?
another reason is the way the switch is.... its a plastic tab that sticks out where it makes contact with the rubber bit that you press
sometimes if that tab snaps alittle but is still intact, you'll lose the clicky feeling but still have full use of it.
the only other way is that the tab has gone in when you dropped it and does not come out as much as it did before. again, this would still work but sometimes if it has gone in too far, then you might find slight movement will switch the phone on/off
i can turn it on and off, its just really sensitive, and i can press the case above the power button and turn it on and off, i have to push a bit harder to do so but it is noticable. it is as you described in the last part of your post, is there any way to fix that? without tearing apart the phone and voiding any warranty that it might carry?
also my wifi doesn't seem to be working, but that problem started before my phone was dropped, it'll see the network yet it won't connect, it keeps trying to use cingular's service, that i don't have.

Help - Cannot answer a call using touchscreen

Hi -
I have got a new Samsung Galaxy S. After two days got everything configured and working to my liking - only to find out that when I receive a phone call, I cannot answer the phone by touching screen.
The screen is responsive, I mean I can see it is responding to me touching the green icon - just the behaviour aspect is not working. I have got a rooted phone with lag fix. I tried rebooting but no joy.
I can answer phone calls by physically pressing the home key. I really hope that it is not a hardware issue - as I have spend almost the entire weekend sorting it out.
Please help what should I do?
You do know you must slide the green icon across the screen in a left to right motion for it to answer, not just press the green icon. I first made that mistake when got my phone too

All working as it should.
Many thanks once again.
ahahaha. i REMEMBER that. good to know.
yeah it took me 3 seconds to realized that the first time i received a call, and i was PANICKING WHY IT'S NOT RESPONDING!!!!! yelling inside my mind
LOL
then i slid the red reject button (by mistake) and realized OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I was supposed to slide the green one
that was a fun day

Hey there people.
i am hoping some one can help me out a lill here, i have an motorola xt912 i live in sweden atm so it is on a

the issue i am having atm is getting worse when even i make a call the screen goes blank and i carnt do anything
what so ever i have to have Power button set to hang up to end the call then i can get out of the call.
as a rule this is not a huge issue save when i need to call my ISP or somthing when i need to use the nuber pad
like when i call my bank (must to this often) the problem used to be intermittent but now it is prity much every

a.) this is a forum for the XT907, but this resolution process should still be the same
b.) check to make sure that the sensors (upper left-hand corner on the face of the phone) are not blocked. these sensors enable the phone to black out when near your face while in call.

[Q] Defy+ unlocks while talking

hi, couldn't find anything similar via search and it seems that I'm the only one having such problem.
so, I've tried numerous roms by Quarx, few slimkats and my phone regularly unlocks (i assume) while talking, and hangs up, or even worse, tries to call someone else. i was ready to call it a proximity sensor malfunction, but if i try to cover it while holding phone in hand it works perfectly every time, and I'm using stock ROM for a few weeks now - no hang ups at all. only solution is to push phone firmly into my face or keep it away from it..
so, any suggestions ? even an app which wouldn't unlock the phone in call unless unlock button is pressed or call just ended would be very nice.
thanks.
