I was very pleased to read this-
http://www.gsmarena.com/200000_samsung_glaxy_s_phones_sold_in_south_korea_in_10_days-news-1786.php
Considering the fact that stocks sell off like hot scones in the UK and there are even shortages, and the fact that the device is selling well in the U.S even before carrier-based versions started selling, i see a bright future for the Galaxy S platform.
If in south korea alone it sold 200,000 , and in the UK Clove, Expansys and Handtec had severe shortages untill several days ago, i'm guessing it already sold over 300-350K worldwide.
Again, even before carriers around the world started marketing it.
Now i want to see what happens after carriers around the world start selling it, if these kinds of numbers will continue to flow in, i think it's close to impossible that samsung won't support it for a prolonged period.
Share your 2 cents, i'm having great expectations right now.

^ Yeah, I lol at that one.
But OP, your right. This is Samsung's all out effort to gain marketshare in the smartphone area. They are #2 when it comes to feature phones (dumb phones). However, in smartphone market, they are #4 or 5. In fact, last quarter they LOST market share. Analysts have projected that in a few years, the majority of phones sold will be smartphones, so it is imperative for Samsung to gain market share and win over customers. You can not do that with products that are unsupported. I bet they got a wake up call when HTC came out of no where and gained market share quicker then Samsung did. In fact HTC (which is very small company compared to Samsung), has a greater market share than the big ol Samsung. They know for a fact that with increased relations with developers, that their handsets have gained sales. Samsung created an open source distribution website where source codes for most of their products have been released since April of this year. So that is a good positive step in the right direction. Also, we all know Samsung makes great hardware, however their software side has been less stellar. Its beginning to be changed as more money and resources are pouring into the software side.(Bada, new R&D center in India devoted to software, new emphasis by corporate to focus more money in software etc).
I hope we are right.
As far as I can see, Samsung is winning customers over HTC right now. I am one of those, and I spotted many others in the forums.
IMO the point is that HTC's success has been largely undeserved, but rather based on the efforts of people here on XDA; on the contrary, it looks like they did everything they could to make people run away screaming. Despite all the work that has been done, even developers on XDA have never found a way to get a performance from, say, the Touch HD that could at least be called acceptable, if you look at the specs. Marketing a device as the "ultimate multimedia experience" and then selling it without proper drivers, is just pure BS. And this incredible problem affected an entire range of products for at least two years.
So, I would say, HTC should be paying a much higher price than they are, for their behaviour... we'll see in the next few months. I know I sound harsh but I seriously hope they lose it. Samsung FTW
OP needs to change his topic to something less misleading. When i first glance your "bright spot" made me thought that the new phones have some defect in the screen.
I thought your post was to say that samsung sold many phones with defective "bright spots" on their screens.
Wtf is a bright spot anyway lol see thick ppl do buy **** fones lol

Oh my
Fixed, although i'm sure even kim jong ill wouldn't mind a galaxy s.
And now can someone please translate AndroHero's post for me? i'm having trouble trying to discern what language is that.
Anyways, now that samsung is selling masses of their flagship phone, they have to be completely retarded to not support it properly. It would be equevilant to commiting suicide.
Also, it sold a lot on their "home court", if samsung will let even koreans down, their cellular department is going to take a major hit.

Hello,
Here is a little article about samsung vs apple, there is a nice section about production lines.
It's a Korean article transleted into English.
[too bad I'm new and can't post a link] To those still interested by the article, you can google search "askakorean apple vs samsung" first article!
It's maybe a bit out of context, but since you were talking about shortages.
If someone would be nice enough to post the link so it's easier for everybody

Interesting to read someones opinion, but that's all it is. My other half is Korean, and she, like I work in the electronics industry and we're both intimately aware of how Korean giants like Samsung operate, the key element in the Galaxy S isnt rapid turn around, its a change in corporate policy towards the design of the phone, by involving hundreds of potential users in the development stages.
I also disagree with his premise that the iPhone 4 is a 'great' product. I've had a play with an iPhone 4 and I think it suffers from Form over Function. It's actually a little uncomfortable in the hand. It may be made from glass and steel and look great, but such hard materials with squared off edges and profiles doesn't sit right in your hand.
The objects we most commonly hold in our hands are cups/mugs, pens and computer mice. They're rounded and softened, ok household mugs are ceramic from a practical materials aspect, but even a travel mug has a rubberized grip.
I just don't get the hysteria over the IP4, when I look at it I do see a photogenic object, but I also see a design fail.
Leaving the comfortability issue aside, i'm bothered by the durability aspect.
Using superhardened glass may be good against scratches, but without a shock absorbing frame of some sort, the harder the galss- the more prone to shattering it will be, and harder glass shatters more catastrophically.
"regular" hardness glass usually gets cracks or little shattered points.
Superhardened galss- it's "all or nothing". Either nothing hapeens, or it shatters completely.
Deciding to put the glass ON the frame instead of IN the frame (like previous iPhones) was a much bigger design flaw than the less-round corners IMO.
I'm hearing a lott of buzz about samsung using mostly plastic, and how "inappropreate" it is for a super high-end device, but from a pratical viewpoint-
It's durable, it's cheap and easy to replace it's comfortable, and it doesn't block reception as much as more expensive materials.
Indeed, my BlackBerry is plastic, and that's never been an issue.
I've made a similar post a few weeks back but I thought I'd give this thing yet another try. Well...I'm done with the transformer. I believe this is the biggest piece of junk EVER made. Yes, I said EVER. I am currently on my 6th....read it again, 6th unit!
First 16gb model had a big bulge in the back. Took it back. Second was a 32gb and wifi died completely. Third had massive light bleed and rear panel clicked. 4th, again massive light bleed, so much so that around the edges, blue looked like gray as well as dust under the screen. 5th had a massive white blotch on the LCD to the left of center. Just picked up my 6th unit yesterday, and out of the box, a chip on top of the frame, dead pixel and firmware that doesn't update OTA. Installed update manually, but what if this is bought by someone who isn't well versed in android or computers in general and just wanted something to read books on??
Asus, are you serious with this thing. 6 units and you still can't get it right?? This is my first and I assure you, LAST asus product. Do you guys even have quality control at your factories? This is absolutely unacceptable. It's about a 30 min drive from where I live to where I bought this gigantic piece of crap. Asus, are you going to reimburse me for gasoline in these days where gas is more expensive than ever?
I am utterly disgusted with this product and in fact your company in general. Reminds me of the days when I went through 4 asus motherboards (each time, the fault was confirmed by a tech), and finally opted out for a Gigabyte which has been working flawlessly since day one.
I guess this is what we can expect when crap is built in China where workers cannot wait to finally finish their shift and go home.
Thanks Asus....for nothing. I'm wrapping this worthless piece of crap and exchanging it today for your competitor's product which for sure will NOT come with a damaged bezel. You are formally banned from my household.
And please people, spare me the "mine is fine" crap. Well..maybe YOURS is, but I've gone through 6. I should also add, that each time I was there I had to wait in line behind someone who was also returning theirs. The store admitted to me that qa on these things is THE worst they've seen yet, on any electronic device and so is the return rate.
Transformer = FAIL.
Was the package sealed?
Thanks for submitting a complaint to Asus Customer Care...wait that's right this is XDA. My TF is working great and Asus support has been awesome when I needed them. And the two Asus Mobos I've had work just as good as my TF going on 2 years now.

May I suggest that you stop buying open box items? Order from somewhere that takes care of the product rather than a retail chain OR when you get it retail, OPEN THE BOX AND CHECK IT BEFORE YOU BUY.
This isn't the place for ranting about your own failure to use reason and logic.

Sorry to hear you have had such a hard time with your Transformer. My transformer has nothing wrong with it except for very small light bleed, and it is the first one I ordered. I love Asus products personally, I have always found them to be reliable. I have built about 50 computers with their motherboards, cd drives, and video cards and have never had a single one fail on me, my family, or my friends. Guess we are just lucky.

What thing are you giving another try honestly? Trying to bash the transformer in the place where everyone loves the transformer!? Seriously take it up with asus as im sure most people in here don't care and don't want to hear about it. If we wanted to hear about this we would look under your first post, we don't need you reminding us that you suck at buying products and cluttering up the forum.
All I can say is the same as many others. I ordered mine from Tigerdirect, and aside from some small amounts of light bleed, I haven't had a single problem with mine. If you don't like a product, fine. I guess the first question is, why would you go back to a brick and mortar store multiple times to get a product replaced? Especially when almost every single issue you pointed out was rather prevalent in the first batch or so of the product? My guess is that you went back a number of times and got first batch products that all ended up having problems.
My suggestion, buy an apple ipad 2. Better to let you join all the other morons over there than stay here and complain. All I can say is that I hope you get an Ipad 2 that has problems as well, so you can just complain to Apple (who won't care at all).
Hm im still on my first one and no problems here other than a stuck pixel which I fixed and a dust trapped on top of the S on Asus top left of ybe screen but not on the screen itself. Sucks you had a bad experience this machine is a beast im even keeping it stock (for now) because everything is running so smooth and im experiencing no lag. Anyways i dont think you needed to make a thread bashing it I hope your next tablet sucks too

yeah , I completely agree with darkhawkff, why would you go back and forth six times to the same store, it could be that just completely wrecked the whole shipment themselve somehow . I got mine from tigerdirect too and the only problem i had was a littlest light bleed. Just stop complaining about your experience with 6 returns because i highly doubt anyone cares about your opinion of the TF and asus while we are on xda on our own TF that may have a little problems but we deal with it.
LMAO... Sounds like someone needs a hug?
I have a VS GTab AND the TF 101. Both have "issues". While I see that HC is still needing improvement, I am happy to go with the flow and see and be a part of the developement. I mean, come on, it is a sub $500.00 device. I think you would be better off with an iFad. Thanks for stopping by!
You, sir, have just made my Sunday evening Great work!
Meh. Find everybody that had a similar experience to yours, and it turns out you can't buy anything. Since we are here, my experience with Nokia reminds yours. Everything cool with cellphones, a mess with smartphones. 7650, power button stopped working. 3650, spent most time getting reflashed in assistance because it killed itself several times and the build quality was really poor.
Asus actually shared a factory with Apple, they made MacBooks, and there is nothing wrong with those.
Plus, as already mentioned, everything is made in China, even Apple (and people around here can fanboy as much as they like, but build quality is great) so that argument is quite weak.
I'm not telling you to get another TF, or to trust Asus again. But every company has somebody as happy as you... just that

Your a glutton for punishment I'd of quit on the second if I went that far. . Where did you find 6 of them at a brick and mortar store? Probably Frys ..if you bought anything there you were on your own anyway.
Mines great (only bought 1) I love it more every day.
Go home....... Asus doesn't live here.
Why people whine so much is beyond me. If you don't like it take it back. Get something else no one cares it's not like it is ours.
But with all due respect not that any is due after that post ...don't whine.
I've seen a ton of Android users bashing "iSheep" over the years for their undying loyalty and "sheepism" (if there is such a word) for the way that they foam at the mouth for every new Apple product that gets released. It seems that no matter what the reviews or competing products show them, they run out and buy that new iProduct as soon as it hits the shelves.
I've started to wonder if us Nexus fans aren't exactly the same.. here we have a brand new Nexus 4 coming out, and let's be honest most of the reviews are not on the positive side. I've seen the numerous justifications about how the test phones weren't running the most "optimized" software, how the reviewer(s) were Apple fan boys, how the final product won't be anything like the test phones..
However, when I started recounting my experiences with the Nexus brand, I have to say I think we are putting our blinders on due to the excitement of having a new Nexus with decent specs. Case point:
When I decided to buy the Galaxy Nexus I was extremely excited to finally get my hands on the "Pure Android Experience". Coming from the Galaxy SII, I had some high expectations of what I top notch smart phone should be - but I also had high hopes given the Gnex specs. When the day my Gnex arrived, I couldn't get the box open fast enough! Then low and behold - the phone was DOA. Wouldn't even power on, nothing. No long press, multiple press, extended charging, nada. Quickly called Google and was sent a replacement two days later.
When the replacement arrived, it powered up just fine (thank God..) and I began getting it all set up. Almost immediately I noticed it didn't seem as responsive as my Galaxy SII. The touch screen lacked the sensitivity of the SII, but I thought to myself, I can deal with that - hey, it's a Nexus! The colors seems a bit off to me, but I thought "it's probably just the auto-brightness". It was only after setting the phone up completely that I noticed the urine-colored whites and the muted colors. I thought to myself, "well, everyone says the Galaxy SII is over saturated anyway.." although I wasn't too convinced. It just didn't seem to have the "WOW" factor the SII had. Still, I carried on - after all.. it's a Nexus!
Three weeks later and I'm starting to get pissy about the Gnex. Reception just wasn't as good, seemed to run things slightly slower than my SII, DL speeds were slower than my SII, the touch screen responsiveness (or lack thereof) had simply become annoying. That coupled with the so-so screen quality and everything started to get to me. Dissatisfaction was growing at this point..
Finally I couldn't take it anymore. Sold my Gnex on XDA for $350 shipped and guess what? The very next day it drops to $350 in the Play Store. Felt really bad for the guy who bought mine, but since I keep my phones pristine I'm sure he was OK with it. Plus he saved tax + shipping.
So I immediately went out and bought the Galaxy SIII on release day. OH. MY. GOD. I had my phone back. It was like the SII only bigger. Better. Faster. Touch screen responsiveness and screen was simply amazing. Everything flew on this phone, no matter what I threw at it. Fell in love with Android all over again.
Three weeks ago I went and bought the Nexus 7. I thought, surely the reports of the QC issues are slightly exaggerated since XDA is such a small portion of the consumer population.. they're just a little more anal, a little more OCD about their devices (at least this is what I am reading by the members aggressively defending the Nexus 7). I'm sure it will be fine!
My first Nexus 7 has such bad light bleed I immediately returned it. Bad luck, I thought. I'm sure this isn't the norm. After all, I didn't have any screen lift.. right? My 2nd Nexus 7 - Ahh, perfection. No light bleed, no screen lift, everything looks great. Well, except for the slightly washed out colors and over saturated whites. But hey, it's LCD so what do I expect right? Besides... it's a Nexus!
Sure enough, here I am three weeks later, and the same light bleed in the lower left corner has manifested, along with a slight screen lift on the upper left hand side. I haven't removed the back to check for missing screws yet, but I am sure I will find it is the same as others have reported.. I won't be returning this one as I have decided to live with it even though it aggravates me every time I see it.
So here I am at the impasse.. I have the Galaxy SIII, which is what I consider the best phone on the market (besides perhaps the Note 2) running CM10 Jellybean 4.1.2 flawlessly.. and yet the Nexus name is calling to me again.
WHY IN THE WORLD should I expect things to be different this time? Why would I choose to ignore the reviews and believe other Nexus fan boys who say it's the "test phones" and software that is "not optimized", and that it's not the "final product"?
There's only ONE reason I can think of. Because I am a God damn Google fanatic that keeps ignoring reality in the hopes that everyone is wrong and this will be the best Android phone ever. But we all know that it won't... don't we?
I'm giving Google one last chance to impress the hell outta me. After this, if things turn out like they have in the past, I'm sorry to say it but... I will be a Samsung fan from now on. Yes, they did make the Gnex.. and it was inferior.. but honestly it's probably because they were putting everything into their Galaxy S line to steal the show, which IMO they have done quite successfully.
Don't let me down Google. Make me a Nexus believer again.
Anyone agree with me?

This.
Some things can't be properly conveyed in a short paragraph.
Not that I expected any actual responses in a Nexus forum.
I'm not saying that I'm not all in on the Nexus 4.. just saying I don't hold high hopes that it will be everything Google claims..
I read it and here's my take on the Nexus 4.
I may not be as technical as most people on XDA, but I try to read up as much as I can. I think what makes MOST (not all) Android users different from MOST (not all) iPhone users is that we actually take the time to research a product before be buy it. They buy their products because it says "Apple" on the box. We have countless different devices to choose from. We HAVE to do the research before we buy. This isn't just about buying a Nexus, this is about buying a new Android phone and having to choose between what's currently on the market.
For me, I'm over my current phone (T-Mobile G2x) and want to get a new one, but I'm still on contract. I don't make enough money to drop $600+ on a new phone. Hell, even if I did make enough money, I wouldn't be comfortable dropping that much money on a phone. Buying a phone from Google means I can buy a nice phone at an affordable price without forcing me to extend a contract that I never wanted to be on in the first place (I originally only switched from Virgin Mobile to T-Mobile because I wanted a better phone at a decent price and signing a contract used to be the only way to do that). My original plan was actually to buy the Galaxy Nexus to hold me over until my upgrade was available and then, from there, decide if I wanted to stick with Android or try out Windows Phone 8.
Then the Nexus 4 was announced and for the same exact price as the Galaxy Nexus. It's a better phone, at a better price.
Like I said, I may not be as technical as the rest of you, but what I see is a phone that is equivalent to each heavy hitter currently on the market (Galaxy SIII, One X, iPhone 5, the various upcoming offerings from Windows Phone 8). The only difference is that this phone is half the price of all of those. That's what I see when I look at the Nexus 4. I see an affordable upgrade for my current phone that is cheaper to every other comparable phone on the market and that's why I'm going to buy it (after consumer reviews of course, but it's almost certain that I will be ordering this phone before the month is over).
Now, the thing I do not understand is why people with the above mentioned phones would seriously consider this. Yes, it's a Nexus. Yes, it will get updates faster. But why should that all matter? All of us here on XDA are probably running rooted phones and we've all probably flashed multiple ROMs. My G2x is currently running Jellybean 4.1. It may not be 4.2, but I'm sure a clever dev will make it happen at some point. If not my phone, all of the above mentioned phones (minus the iPhone and Windows Phone 8 obviously) will get it at some point. Our vanilla Android experience isn't going to be vanilla for too long out of the box.
Maybe it's because I'm not made of money, but I wouldn't be able to justify dropping another $350 if I already had a $600+ phone. I don't buy into brands (part of the reason why I refuse to use Apple products). I'm happy to be a future owner of a Nexus phone, but I'm not buying it because it's Nexus (although that is nice). I'm buying it because it's cheap and, to my untrained eyes, more or less equal to the best phones on the market.
To each their own. To me, Nexus 4. All there is to it
I agree. I am buying the nexus 4 strictly for these reasons:
1) I need a new phone, currently using Samsung captivate on aokp jb milestone 1.
2) don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a new phone
3) want a phone that will be supported with software updates immediately
4) Want a phone that has great specs so that it can support future software updates down the road
I am not expecting this phone to be a savior. As the old saying goes, if it seems too good to be true it usually is. To buy the most powerful "best" phone and only pay 359$ for it brand new? That seems too good to be true IMO. I just need a huge upgrade from my captivate and the nexus is more than that.

I can see your point though I don't agree with some of your reasoning. At times there are levels of excitement that are disproportionate to reality, but I don't think this is representative of the majority of users.
As for the "negative reviews" take a look at the screenshots that show kernel and baseband versions - on at least three of the sites they are different versions. It is highly likely that software improvements will address these issues. The fact that many of the reviews did not make note that the software on their review device is a pre-release version is either disingenuous or ignorant. Making note of this as a consumer does not denote fanboyism.
All products will have build quality issues, this is just how things are. I returned my first Galaxy S2 because of problems with the screen and my first Nexus 7 as well. I know people who have had problems with iPhones and other Android devices which required RMA. Does that mean that an LG product will now have flaws because it has Google branding on it? Hardly. There probably will be issues and we'll hear all the whining and moaning, we wait and see.
tl;dr - it's just a phone, people need to chill the **** out. Only time will tell if it's a great phone or not.

Why, when other phones are reviewed, are they not on some sort of "pre-release" software?
I don't remember reading reviews of other high end Android phones and seeing people say they were "misleading" or that the "software wasn't optimized"
I mean c'mon, all of the sudden reviews are completely bogus and software isn't up to par?
I don't care of they were running GB, the phone either flies or it doesn't.
OP, I'm really glad you made this thread. I've never had a Nexus and I also am over my current device (myTouch 4G) and chomping at the bit to get a new one. I had no idea there were that many problems with either the gnex or the N7. This worries me. I have some thinking to do...
Also, have a thanks.

If the software is not released or finished, then they are by definition running 'pre-release' software.

I never said the reviews were completely bogus, in fact I mentioned how it was obvious that there was different software on at least three review devices and that It is highly likely that software improvements will address the issues. Note - I am acknowledging that there are issues
Again, it's just a phone. If you are concerned it wont meet your expectations wait until it's been out for a while to see what happens; some people will love it, others will call it a flop.
Other top phones (SIII, etc.) aren't reviewed with pre-release software because they use an established version of Android, aka SIII shipping with ICS, whereas the Nexus 4 is shipping with a brand new version of Android, 4.2, which has not been as widely tested and established, and which Google is probably still working on. If 4.2 were completely ready today, the Nexus 4 would probably be released today, rather than the 13th.

To me it is a matter of price. I'm stuck with Xperia mini, and I want to upgrade. At the same time the Nexus 4 is released, and it is insanely cheap, at least from foreign countries like Germany (which use the same power plug as Sweden). The price is what makes this phone so very interesting, if it weren't for that there would have been a lot of other phones in question. In Sweden the Nexus 4 isn't something out of the ordinary, when you can buy a Galaxy S3 for about the same price. But if I import this phone from Germany, I save about 150 euros, that is why I'm very interested.
The fact that it is a Nexus is positive, but not the main factor. I've read some bad reviews, but for this price, it isn't a dealbreaker. The same criticism at swedish prices would be a dealbreaker however.
Regards,
rodstrom
I need a new phone, I have always preferred vanilla android, and I've had two nexus phones before my current non-nexus phone.
I am ready to be back on a nexus phone, between the quick updates, and being free from a contract, the nexus 4 is extremely enticing, AND at an amazing pricepoint.
I agree with the OP on many counts. Even though I myself have had no problems with my GNex and felt that it was THE most beautiful phone I have owned (maybe second to the LG Prada), the whites were jaundiced and sickly looking. And even though kernels like Trinity fixed it to a certain extent, Google needs to realize one thing - the phone needs to be working without problems out of the box. I think what is happening is an over dependency on devs and a complacency thinking that people will overlook glitches in nexus devices because, hey! after all this is android. The devs can fix everything, right?!
A trend I am seeing with the N4 is that no matter what the issue is, many people go, 'well its just 350, so its ok'! No its not! Its not like we asked Google to make an inexpensive device, so they were compelled and thus had to resort to faulty and low quality hardware to cut costs. The price was their decision. I as a consumer want my phone problem free - $350 or $650
That said, I hope as much as the next guy that the problems so far are indeed related to pre-release firmwares and kernels. But then, it was absolutely ridiculous and insane of Google to send those devices for review. Might as well have no reviews than have tons of negative ones. Sure, people here on XDA are 'techy' enough to know that the test firmware is not final and most of the issues might be wrinkled out by release date. But a common man sees the review and goes 'oh crap! i don't want a headache, lemme just get something that everyone says works i.e. iPhone'.

Is there anyone here who would be interested in a bumper made by SGP? I know I would! I think if we can get our voices heard on their FB page and they feel there is enough demand we can get them to make one!
go to their Facebook page and leave a comment! I would really like to make this happen as the LG and poetic bumpers are just not enough....
Yea I left a post for a bumper

I sent them an email and a tweet enquiring about an anti-glare screen protector for the Nexus 4. Not even an acknowledgement let alone a reply. Don't really appreciate their customer service even though they have quality products.

I'd be interested if they would make one that would be similar to the Ringke Hybrid Fusion (ie clear back in addition to the edge-protecting bumper), but I really can't see any other style worthwhile. It is amazing there aren't more similar models; clearly the back of the Nexus needs some sort of protection against minor impact and there are many who don't want to add bulk or change the aesthetic.
That said, I wrote to SCP to ask them to bring the Glas.TR high end glass screen protector to the Nexus 4. They replied, but basically shot down the idea. I'm so bloody sick of how many of the high-end accessories are only available for the iPhone! I'd like to see Glas.TR brought over to compare it to the XGear and Clarivue glass protectors (with a high-end film protector included for the back) more than a bumper, but it doesn't seem this company is very receptive to our requests so far. Still, worth it to keep trying!

I think they will acknowledge the request as long as we can prove that there's a demand for it. That's why we should write on the fb page so we can get heard. If they only get one person asking for it they're not going to produce it as it's not worth their time to make something just for one person (or at least in their mind it's only for one person). I'm sick of all the iPhone support as well. Even the GSII and GSIII got way more accessories by SGP. All we have so far is one measly case by them.

To be fair, both the iPhone and Galaxy series ARE considerably more popular, actually available across all carriers, and can actually be seen being used by people. There's already a feeling of huge pent up demand for the Galaxy S4. Seeing a Nexus phone in real life is still rare as a blue moon. Case makers have to skate where the puck goes...but yes I'd love to see some of the more unique and exotic type cases SGP makes for the iPhone brought over to the Nexus 4, not this generic bland stuff that can be found with any Chinese seller on Ebay.

Yes I understand that's the reason why they get more support. I knew that. SGP is just going where the money is just like any other case maker would but they will make a case for a phone if they know there's a demand for it. We just have to prove it.
it's kinda late to be asking companies to make cases for the phone we going to get a new nexus in 5-6 months. i think if companies waited this long then they are not going to start making them now. Has any of these petitions worked for the nexus 4? i see so many of these threads but none with any real results.

the next Nexus won't be till Nov/Dec. That's more than 5 to 6 months away. Whether it works or not it's better to try than not try.

i must of been thinking about how long since the phone has been out but i dont agree that it's better to try. If companies like sgp and otterbox dont make cases for the nexus then ill buy it somewhere else, it's their lost not mine. I had the sgp hydrid for my galaxy nexus and imo it is not better than my poetic(didnt have any of the peeling issues people reported) and have a LG bumper on the way. these petitions never work anyways so you are just wasting time. Petition with your wallet instead of facebook. I've stop buying any otterbox cases since they tend to focus mostly on the iphone(their iphone case is always nicer than any android version) and now i wont buy from sgp again either.
First and foremost: No multiple user support! Until this is provided by either Samsung or by a mod, I'm not buying this tablet. I was hoping to make this a coffee table appliance, and there is no way to achieve that without the multi-user support.
Another thing that kinda annoyed me was the seemingly cheap workmanship on the area where the bezel meets the plastic frame in the front. I held a white one at Best Buy and this annoying look immediately caught my attention. This would have looked much nicer if the bezel did not run over the frame and was instead flush with it. Normally I wouldn't care about this too much, but I know my wife will and ***** about how iPad looks nicer... jeez.....
So why am I posting this? I guess I needed to vent... I had so much high hopes for this device, and now I'm having second thoughts...

Well, you cared enough to reply, so that's something!
I think the Note 2014 is going to be the best there is for android 10 inch tablet (until next year) for what it all offers. The super close runner up will be the New Nexus 10 coming out soon. For many it could go either way between the two. I jsut love all the software extras and the multi tasking of this thing. My god the multitasking!!:victory:
Again the new Nexus 10 is not out yet but ASUS is making it and I'm not too confident in the quality control. But that is just me.

And besides, didn't Google announce that they won't provide external sd-card slots, because they were "too confusing" to the consumer??? Really??? Or is it because they want to charge an extra $100 for 16GB in this day and age? Thanks Google, that's a deal breaker. The moment HTC did that, I switched over to Samsung (also HTC stopped making the battery removable). I hate when Android device makers are trying to act like they are Apple. If I want to buy something like iPhone or iPad, I will buy an iPhone or iPad. So stop taking away things that give you an edge!
I'm afraid that's what Samsung could be trying to do here by removing the multi-user support. They want everyone to buy a tablet. They don't want family members to share. Well, for the phones, it's understandable. But for tablets, there is no reason not to share. I hope Sammy gets its act together on this...

Google's mission was to make the tablet as affordable as possible, it is one of the reasons why they cut out the ext SD card.
Their other excuse was switching over on how they wanted their phones to mount when connected to PC. But Samsung managed to get it working right, so I don't know what their issue was.

As a coffee table device? I wouldn't dish out ~$600 for a tablet I'd be leaving on the coffee table. Why not just get something cheaper? It doesn't sound like you're going to be using the s pen for anything serious anyways and the S Pen is what really makes this device worth the purchase.

Well, I guess I tend to always buy the top tier device and hang on to it for a while (still use my Lenovo T61 I bought in 2007 close to $2K). For now it will be a coffee table device, but for later I may turn it into something more useful. And no one can deny the stunning resolution on that screen.
I currently have Note 2 as my phone and I do use the S Pen quite often.
7just grab a nook hd+. 9inches and under $125.

You could try installing 2014 NOTE 10.1 RETAIL MODE APP.
I believe the way it works is.........
You activate the retail mode with a password and anything that is done in retail mode is erased when you return to normal operation. There is also a video that plays when the tablet has not been touched for a preset time.

Yes, I have seen that on the tablet at BestBuy. There was an "administrators" menu on settings and retail mode user or something close to that name was listed as an admin. But still doesn't achieve the purpose of being able to share the device with my wife without any hassle.
