[Q] No Mobile Data After Updating BL and CP - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Any idea why when I updated my BL and CP, I cannot connect to mobile data?
I can send texts and can toggle the Mobile Data icon but cannot seem to have a connection (2G/3G/4G or any connection). I have tried a full wipe and change ROMs. I am sure it is not the carrier because I can use my mobile data on my Note 2.
Any help or ideas?

Is the IMEI still valid? And also the Baseband is valid?
Check your current Bootloader, Baseband... in the Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, under FIRMWARE INFO section.

Thanks for the help. Already have done those. The real culprit was my sim card. Strange stuff.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy s 4 issue with mobile data

recently my samsung galaxy s 4 on the carrier US Cellular and running the stock android version 4.4.2 has stopped communicating with 4g lte. It will show that there is a 4 g lte connection but will not connect to facebook messanger or do anything internet related. It will occasionally drop to 3g and work fine or drop connection all together.
In my attempts and large amount of research to fix this problem i have done the following:
1. Turned on and off airplane mode
2 restarted the phone
3. Replaced SIM card with a new one
4. Factory reset my phone
5. Erased application cache in the recovery mode
6. I have also tried to change the network mode and yes mobile data is turned on.
Please help. Us cellular is just telling me to buy a new phone that i cant afford because they dont know whats wrong and samsung is saying the same thing. ***Also it is not a rooted phone*****
Dial *#1234# and tell me what appears with details pls.
I attempted to type that in and nothing happens. I have tried other codes as well and same result.
Install Phone Info from the Play Store and run it. Tell us the AP, CP, and CSC of the phone.

The original samsung firmware doesn't seem to recognize some of those USSD codes. That's why nothing happens.
@GDReaper: *#1234# is one of the codes that does work in the Samsung dialer. US Cellular has blocked access to that information, which is why it's not working for him.

[Q] Cant add or edit APN after OTA lollipop update - G900F

Hey guys, just recently my SO's S5 got updated to 5.0 Lollipop. After the update her mobile data was rather sluggish so I decided to re enter the APN settings. I reset the settings to default and tried to add the APN settings using the + symbol, upon pressing the symbol nothing happens; the usual screen to enter in details does not show up.. So essentially her phone has no MMS or Mobile Internet :/.
Am I missing anything here? Is there a way to manually add the settings still?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Most carriers have either a number you text or a place on their site you enter the mobile number, and they send you the DATA settings via text
Worst case, you have to call the carrier to get them to send it
The text usually automatically updates the settings, sometimes you need to interact to set them

Thank you for your reply.
I have actually tried to use the send APN service provided by the carrier after troubleshooting but to no avail.
The phone gets the 'Configuration message' and I am able to install it... but it literally does not change anything. I go into the APN settings and the APN(s) are still blank and I am still unable to use the + sign to add an APN. Very frustrating..
I'm a bit weary of installing firmware manually on Samsungs due to the knox counter... I wonder if a custom ROM or another official firmware will rectify this issue?
Flashing a stock ROM through ODIN will not affect KNOX
KNOX is only tripped when you flash a non-Samsung ROM / Recovery
You will find stock roms on sammobile with flashing instructions and links to ODIN on the download page of the ROM
Thank you so much detection, I should be able to figure it out from here.
Ill try and flash a new FW tomorrow when I have my hands on the S5. Will post back with results.
Thanks mate.
Good luck
Which region is your phone from?. I have the same issue on my hong kong version after the lollipop update ?

Samsung Note 3 doesn't want to recognize/register my SIM

I'm not a 100% sure how this problem occurred, I believe it was after flashing an S5 custom rom called: "RC Elite S5 Port V16" To my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900W8). From what I was reading it was a ROM that "converts" your note 3 to a note 4 or s5, while still having all the Note 3 features. Another possible cause is trying to use RegionLock Away.apk by Chainfire to essentially(unlock) the phone. I feel like this is the main cause though as this affects the modem on the phone. This isn't the SIM as I tried it in another phone and works fine with calls and texts.
My phone doesn't want to register its mobile network anymore. When I try to make a call or text it says:
"Not Registered on network"
I was reading online for about 2-3days now for possible solutions that can cure this. Such as:
1. Going into Mobile Networks settings and manually register [failed, details below]
2. Going into Mobile Networks settings, hold home button for 2seconds and then hold power button + home button for 15seconds [failed, details below]
3. Taking out battery while the phone is on and remove the SIM card, clean it and re-insert [failed]
4. Factory Reset [Failed]
5. Wipe Storage and re-flash stock ROM [Failed]
Options 1 & 2 do not work because when I try to access Mobile Network Settings I get this:
"Insert SIM card to access network services"
The SIM card is inside the phone though...
So what I did is found a mobile network options shortcut "program" from GooglePlay Store and installed it. It allows me to access the menu, which is great! Now, when I try to register the SIM card to my correct service provider (BELL CANADA)...it will make me wait for about 1-2minutes before I get "Unable to register, try later" error.
I tried the factory restore with a stock 4.4.2 ROM from Sammobile and the issue is still there.
Is there anything that anyone knows that can help me resolve this problem? I tried EVERYTHING i can possibly find on Google. I've seen posts of people suggesting to flash a modem.bin file with Odin but I don't know where to get those files, nor what to look for in terms of modem file "types".

Many thanks for your swift replies. I have it layed out in an album with thumbnails at the top. Hopefully it made it easier for you to look. I skipped past DEVICE ID as a whole as both IMEI and SERIAL #'s are 100% original and legitimate.

I tried region unlocking it with RegionLock Away by Chainfire. I would like to say afterwards this issue occurred but as far as im concerned, using a TELUS Mobility sim card activates the network pin unlock. So i'll be going with no, it's not unlocked.
I currently have a Bell LTE 4G SIM card installed on the phone. If you check the photos there it shows I have a full connection but unable to make calls nor access the mobile networks menu.... =/
I can provide pictures on the error messages if you'd like.
Warm Regards,

Edit: I'm performing a factory reset right now. I'll let you know if this fixes it. Thanks.

These errors are really getting the best of me. I can't use my phone anymore D:
And as mentioned in OP, I downloaded a shortcut from the GooglePlay store that allowed me to access the Mobile Networks options. When I try to register to bell i keep getting "Unable to connect, try later"
Thanks for your help.

Do one thing.
1. Turn off the phone. Take a out the simcard and battery for some min.
2. Add the battery only. Turn on the phone and factory reset your device (Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything.)
3. Insert SIMCARD without turn off the phone.

They there! I tried to follow all the steps to the best of my ability but it seemed that didn't work. For 1, the note 3's sim card slot is blocked by the battery so i can't take it out without turning it off. In addition, after only inserting the battery and performing the factory reset, I decided to test it and the issue is STILL there even though a sim card isn't even inserted AFTER the factory reset. Same error messages as if nothing ever happened, even shows full bar reception even though nothing is in there. =/
This is the most unique problem I have ever encountered myself. I really don't know what to say...

Bumping.
After some more research I was wondering if you reflash the stock firmware back, does it effect the EFS partition at all? Cause if it doesn't I believe I installed a faulty EFS partition accidentally which results in the broken connection.
Any way I can get a backup of an EFS file that I can flash?
Thanks.
Bump. This issue is driving me nuts.
Thank you in advance.

Issue still there.
Thanks in advance for the replies.
I had this same problem earlier (for a note 2) in the week where it just wont register any sim card.
In my case i think the problem was that i did a full format before flashing which probably deleted the EFS folder.
I tried so many options and eventually managed to resolve it by following the following instructions to restore the stock firmware.
Edit: Unfortunately i cant post URLs as i dont have enough posts
You can get to the page if you search for the following text in Google (The first entry in the results page)

Hey there!
Thanks for your swift reply! I had already did the Samsung Recovery via Kies 3. Do you know if I reflash it that way that the EFS folder would get flashed as well? Because after doing those steps the issue is still there, after about 3 firmware recovery flashes. xD
I didn't even think about backing up the stupid EFS folder otherwise I would have. I was looking at this

Is this the same one? xD
Thanks again.

[SOLVED] Mobile Network not working

Hey everyone,
i had some issue with my note 3 after update from 4.4.2 stock rom to Touchwiz MM Port for Note 3
That ROM is perfect but the issue is bit too high:
My mobile network not working. The settings under mobile network are correct but it says "disconnected" for mobile network state under "About Device" -> "Status".
Then i tought I should update the modem, what I have done to new Baseband N9005XXUGPOK2
But the issue still exist
Should I update the bootloader also?
Thanks for the help in advance

Yes, corret settings have removed settings and add once again and double checked all information.
Nothing happend if I start mobile network.
For the modem and bootloader, I recommend updating both in tandem.
I will do flash modem and bootloader after work at home to see if it works.
First the modem flash and then the bootloader, or should I take both into Odin at same time?
Thanks
Solved the problem.
I´ve updated modem and bootloader, after that it wont go.
But I´ve tested a solution from my friend, he said I should go to the homepage from my provider and there can u put in your phone number and they will send u a SMS with a configuration.
After that my mobile network works.
That´s strange because the APN settings I manual put in was correct !?

Have you tried changing the connection method for wifi networks under settings?
Maybe re-flash the stock ROM?
Not sure what else to suggest. If these things don't fix the problem, there could be a hardware problem with the phone.
