My X1 doesn't turn on anymore! I just woke up and it was off. I left it recharging during the night... Now when I plug it in all I see is a red light on the power on/off button. Any ideas?
Could it be just the battery?
The problem is i got it from someone in England so i'm not sure about warranty.
take off the battery cover and then take out ur stylus and you will see a little hole next to the battery and then take ur stylus and push he little button in tha hole and then that will restart it.
no, that doesn't solve it... but thanks
i tried removing the battery and leaving it off for a while but nothing...
the red light appears only when the phone is supposedly charging
Then leave it charging for hours and don't touch it until the red light goes away. Then you can switch it on again.
Don't let a Lithium-battery run out of power! It drastically reduces the battery lifetime and it's not easy for the controller to charge it again.
Recharge the battery before it runs out, best at >40%
Hmm... think I encountered that red light problem before, though can't really remember how I solved it. Think encountered it when I was charging using another cable (and not the original one) and later was ok after using the original cable + charger.
Thanks guys
I'll try doing that. I never left it with less than 50% battery though... I have no idea why this happened.
I'll give news later today

When the battery decreases that fast (50% over night) than maybe the battery is broken. If charging over a few hours does not help, you should try another battery.

I left it charging (it was at around 60% when i plugged it)
Still doesn't work.. the red light goes off after a bit and if i try to turn it on (while plugged) a red light by the USB port flashes 3 times.
It has the same behaviour as if the battery wasn't on.
I tried reading the voltage and it's at 3.3v which is 0.3v below normal but that's because it's not fully charged, right?
I'm afraid of throwing away another €35 for a new battery and it still doesn't work :\

Are you charging with a computer?
Try the real charger. You can always try a battery from another one who has the same phone or go to a shop where they sell it and kindly ask for a battery to try.
Should be no problem.
oh man! it's working now! i don't know what happened... I didn't do anything else. In fact, I had just sent an e-mail to Sony Ericsson

oops didnt see your reply
yeah i tried the charger as well. No idea what happened here.
Thanks skycamefalling!
edit: Oh yeah... something wrong happened during the charge because now it shows just around 20% battery left! hmm... what could drain battery this fast while the phone is sleeping (and plugged in to the pc)?
Glad to hear your phone is awake again

It seems your USB-PC port does not give currency to the phone. It's the other way around -the Computer sucks the power out of the battery.
You can look in the Hardware Manager (PC) how which currency the USB port provides -it should be around 500mA when the phone is plugged is.
I would suggest using the wall charger to be sure the phone is charging.

It's weird. I've been using the same port every night since I got the X1 and it always charged it perfectly. They all provide the 500mA.
Yeah, I'll use the wall charger from this day on whenever I can haha... *phew*
On AC power it can take anywhere up to 8 hours to fully charge from empty and thats with no use at all, it actually loses charge if i play just a low intensity game or browse the web.
Im currently running CM7 and have flashed different ROMs / kernels and Radios to try and get a difference but without any luck.
Ive only noticed the problem within the last month and the battery seems to last a fair while and can make up to 2 days easily with little use, so i dont think theres any serious leak occurring, but having regularly flashed new ROMs i cant say exactly the point when it started happening.
Im thinking that perhaps the battery or the cable may have become faulty but is there any way to test if this is the case?
Im hoping for a software fix but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Install current widget from the market, attach to a screen and let us know the reading from an AC adapter.
Hopefully you'll be able to identify if your charger isn't working correctly.
Ok so i left it on charge overnight and logged the current widget values and saw that on AC charge the readings started at around 119mA and by the morning the charging had slowly decreased to about 70mA. There are also a few periods where there is a charge loss of around -30mA for a few minutes before returning to a constantly decreasing charge.
Also, before doing this i drained the battery and wiped the battery stats, not sure if this may have any effect on the current widget results / charge time.

i think u need to call ur provider and ask for a battery replacement explain why u need it... they will send u a new battery and then check if the problem persists if so then it mite be problem with ur cable or the adapter

Exactly that, I get around 800mA on AC. There is a fault somewhere.
I had the same problem awhile ago. Turned out to be my charger that stopped working.
But that was an old Samsung charger so I just started using the HTC charger that came with the phone instead
Try another charger first and see if it's better. Or ju try to plug it in the computer and see if it charges then.
Problem solved, turned out to be a cheap cable bought from ebay that caused the issues. Thanks.
Hello again friends!
On my phone, see sig for details, I have noticed whenever I place the phone on my QI Pad, while it does charge, The 'power source' is reported as AC, instead of Wireless. I believe this to be the cause of my problem of at night, when full charge is reached it chimes to confirm full, then drops 1%, so chimes to start again, and repeats.
I tried holding my QI Receiver (After market) to the terminals on my friends S3 I9300 and it showed up as charging Wirelessly, Can anybody tell me what in my phone tells the ROM what the power source is ?
And If they know a fix for what im experiencing. for example, if this is kernel related, any recommended kernels that support 4.3 ? c:
Thanks heaps in advance

I'm using the stock Samsung charger with a third party QI receiver module in my S4. It's correctly identified as a wireless charger when connected, but the problem with intermittent charging at night that you describe still appear. I believe this problem is inherent to the technology. However, I "solved" it by deleting the charger connection sound as well as using Tasker to completely dim the screen at night. This way I'm no longer bothered.

I can turn off the vibrate and sound nd screen on in settings, But I wanted it to identify correctly so I can use Tasker, and Daydream, only when on wireless.. :c
Im thinking it may be Rom specific.. in which case Ill ask my good old friend i've never really had direct contact with Vertigo
Hi Guys,
Really need some help here. Just recently my note 4 has been failing to charge properly. When I plug my charger, it will charge for a few minutes with my official Samsung Charger but it will stop even with that. It will not charge at all connected to my laptop or my in car charger. This is what I have done so far..
1) Have bought a new battery (phone is 2 years old) New battery made no difference.
2) Have cleaned the hell out of the bottom connector on the phone (does nothing)
Not sure what else it can be. I love this phone and dont want to get rid but cant understand what is wrong.
So new battery, clean connectors, several re starts, taking out cleaning the sim and everything in the phone. What the hell else could it be??
Please help!!!

1.Open dialer and dial *#0228# and press (quick start)at the bottom and hit YES this will reset battery stats and clear and battery calibration issues then turn off your phone and charge full to 100% to recalibrate battery stats.
2.if the 1st method dosent works then Try factory reset
3.flash stock firmware in odin.

Thanks but I have three different batteries for my Note 4 and they all do this. I fear there is something wrong with the connector in my phone, although it doesn't explain why it will charge for longer sometimes than others, this is what annoys me, its totally random!!! last night I got a full charge out of my phone, today, tried charging and nothing!!!
This is genuine mystery, has my phone got a virus or something?? Why does it charge sometimes then not other times?
I don't want to give up my Note 4 I love the damn thing, any further help would be appreciated with virtual alcohol!
Might be interesting to get one of those Qi wireless charging receivers and a wireless charger to see if it charges correctly that way, bypassing the USB port.
EDIT: I use the Fonesalesman one and a Choetech 3-coil charger.

Hmmm.... that's a good idea, but I thought that the note 4 wasnt capable to charge wireless without an adaptor that that
plugs into the USB port.
I could be wrong though.

I use wireless charging every day, never used the USB port except occasionally to copy large files over and to activate Helium for backup. It does, of course, take longer to charge, but I have a couple of wireless chargers about and just set the phone on whenever I'm near one. Phone rarely drops below 50% charge except if I'm out all day.
You need one of these, once you put the back cover on you'll hardly know it's there - I have a UAG case on too, so it's basically invisible:
https://www.amazon.com/N4-SlimPWRcard-integrated-compatible-recommended/dp/B00OFKS66G
and a wireless charger like one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charger-CHOETECH-Charging-Samsung/dp/B017U9FVKW
Hope this helps.
I bought a orignal bulky wireless cover, then modifit it and removed the qi plate and put it in the phone and use original cover..more slim and works
Thow i suspect that its other hardware falire..my phone is freezing/restarting without any damn special reason, wireless charge dosent work sometimes, it restarts while wireless charging ...all behaviour having something to do with the Power! i have 3 batteries.
O i think its something to do with hardware, thow i will test flashing a stock room again just to be sure. if nothing above helps u can do the same then if problem still remains so you need to take it to a repair shop.

Very annoying problem and one that frustrates me because its random! I got it charging for 25 minutes tonight before it, all of a sudden for no reason stops at 44%....
However I today received an external charger that I bought of eBay for a mere £5.99 it's great. Although it means I have to keep swapping batteries, it's by far the most cost effective solution. Until I see a phone that is a significant leap above the Note 4 I refuse to upgrade which, quite frankly the S.7 isn't...
Hi!
My girlfriend's new S8 will intermittently not charge overnight. I'd say maybe 5 times since she bought it last month she'll wake up to an almost dead battery, while it's still plugged in. Not sure if there are any messages or anything.
This is using the charger that came with it.
Anyone else experience this?

I don't charge my phones overnight, but haven't seen it with my S8.
There could be a process of a particular app that is using resources and it makes CPU work harder and/or the charger isn't giving enough power to keep things going.
Of course do simple stuff like checking out the cable/charger + try another one if you have, try different outlet....
Before putting it on a charger: Items 1 - 2 do every time you charge the phone - it is very helpful.
1) Clear all recent apps
2) Restart the device(this usually gets rid of any app that are stuck)
3) Also try to charge not overnight by couple of hours before going to bed, so it would be easy to monitor what is happening.

Thanks for the reply, but we'll find it's either slow charging (it actually says slow charging), or it won't even show it's charging/plugged in. I've tried clearing recent apps and restarting.

I had the same issue as you had yesterday
It seems that samsung did some update that checks the amperage current that it charges and if its low or unstable, the phone stops getting charging.
Try use original adapter and short length type c cable like the original, it won't happen.
