I was thinking that maybe there are more users from Romania that have the LG G3 and we can discuss here.
First topic that i want to open: which software version are you on? I have V10h and from what i know, this version has some issues with the quickcircle case. for example my phone it keeps waiking up in my pocket. From what i understand, the v10i version solved this issue. Has anyone got this update in Romania?
BTW, i have the 32G model, bought from Vodafone
Mine also has V10h which seems to be the latest on the Vodafone version (D855 32GB one).
Didn't experience any major bugs, however the battery life with my usage (which is rather low) and the same apps I had on my nexus 5 is kinda bad. Maybe is the 4G signal strength or whatnot but I was hoping for more from the 3000mAh battery.
I am polish user, but I have phone from Romania. My version is 10h I have 32Gb variant with code AROM or something like that and have a circle case. I Have no problems with that phone at all. I haven't any single restart, or freeze or wake with a circle case. It is ultra stable and have outstanding battery (with wifi, sync etc enabled i lost 4% battery in the night)
I have the 16Gb version bought from emag. Also on v10h firmware. I had the Nexus 5 before. While I also expected more from the G3 ( it's getting better) it easily outperforms the N5's battery. But boy the ocasional lags are killing me.
i also come from a Nexus 5 and before a Nexus 4.
It is nice to have the extra features like dual window and qslide apps but i am not sure so far abut it. the waiking up problem is killing me. when i am at the office and i keep my phone on my desk but i still use it a lot, by battery is really good. but after i put it in my pocket, it drains really fast. i love the quick circle case and i don't want to remove it and i really hope we will have a 10i version fast in order to solve this.
Also, do you have a screen protector that you recommend? on my nexus 5 i used a tempered glass and i was happy with it so i may go with one also for the G3
My G3 was bought from Sweden and it has a firmware from Norway.
a new bug that i found is with Wifi. When i am at work, it keeps connecting to a wifi network that requires an account and if i try to connect to another working network, i receive a "failed to connect" message. Also, when i am in setting menu, where the wifi, bluetooth and mobile network is, i can see witch network i use but when i open the wifi window, i cannot see it connected so i cannot long press it and click on "forget network".
the only thing that i can do is clse the wifi and stay on my data
I have a Super Clear Nillkin protector on mine which got its first scratch in the first day of use. The protector is good, was relatively easy to apply but it's not as "durable" as I would have expected (had on protectors on other phones and lasted more before showing signs of use).
I would go for glass, but I am not sure about applying it - I am afraid that I won't get it just right and I understood they are not that friendly when it comes to application / reapplication until you get it right.

i used 2 glass ones from nilkin on my nexus 5. for applying, if you don't set it to well, you can remove it and use a cloth dust removal to get all the dust out (it works great) and reapply it. the problem is i think with nillkin. in time it starts to wear off. the first one was better, it lasted around 6 months. the second one showed issues after only a few weeks and the same happened to a friend of mine. so i will never use another nillkin one.
i want to use a tempered glass one also on the G3 but i don't know what kind to use. i looked on okazii and are some products there but i am not sure how good they are. at quick mobile i found also one but it is 80 lei compared to 30-40 lei on okazii.
as a conclusion, i recommend a tempered glass any time instead of a regular screen protector but be sure it is a good one.
also i know a case when the tempered glass saved a friend of mine's screen from cracking.
32 GB still on v10h
Same problem with circle case
What do you think guys should I root the g3 or w8 until we get bootloader unlocked? And for the screen i was planning to buy the alien screen protector with warranty for life
V10h here. No problems...no lag and battery life is good...
I've tried more firmwares found here on xda and I have the quick circle case wake issue with every one of them. I need to mention, it only happens, when I'm sweating. 16 gb version + glass screen protector.
I also have a question for you guys. Did any of you get the LG tablet from their promotion? If so. Is it any good. Should I keep it. (Haven't received mine, but it was approved by LG )

How do you know it was approved by Lg? I only got an email for confirmation of subscribtion but nothing else...

yes, how do you know you were accepted? i sent the info needed to them and at first they rejected for not a very clear photo of the bill and after i sent it again i also sent an email asking if it is ok and they replied to me that i will receive a pre-order in 35 days...so i am still waiting since i bought mine on 1st of September.
as for the tablet itself, i don't really care how it is because i already got the g pad 8.3 which i use daily. the g pad 7.0 is not as good as 8.3 so i will stick with this one for now nad the 7.0 maybe give it to my girlfriend.

I know I was accepted, because LG sent me an email on the 16th of September (00:00), saying,my pre-approval is okay and I'll receive my tablet in a maximum of 30 days. I thought they are deliberately waiting for the last minute with the pre-approval emails, so if you've cocked up something, you won't get a second chance at it. But I guess I was wrong. I ordered mine on the 10th of August, so I don't think I was in the first two thousand.
I know the gpad 7 isn't as good as the glad 8.3, but I'm hoping it can be rooted and that it's performance will be enough for the companion apps. Currently I'm using my phone, which is nice, but it kills the battery. I'm not that into tablets, I wouldn't buy one for a handful of apps, but if it's a freebie, I'll take it.

Yes I use a tempered glass screen protector from day 1 (Momax), i had the same on my Nexus 5 and it was really good. I don't like flipcases or any case that ads bulk to the phone, I use an ultraslim case.

After having dropped my precious toy once again (i actually tried to pick it from a table while it was still connected to the charger and it fell from like 20 cm, but on the weak edge... the display now features some nice black pixels in one corner) I bought a HTC Sensation this weekend. It was a real pleasure to be part of this great community and I want to thank all the devs that made the Streak 5 such an awesome device despite the Dell service politics (that really sucks and makes me stay away from that company like for a lifetime). Have a nice time with your devices, dont drop i like i did and best wishes for 4.0 - I still hope you can make it.
-gostl
I second that. I have had my streak for 5 weeks and have just dropped it onto a carpet and the screen has broken!! WTF.
Just updated to DSC v1.1 as well Ridiculous prices for replacement screens means I am back to my desire HD . Loved the screen size of the streak, will have to save my pennies up for a Samsung Note.
Thanks for help on the forums.
Sorry to say guys, but you really should use Otterbox Commuter case at a minimum, i have had a Streak for 10 months and no screen breakage, i have dropped my streak on a road, yes, a road, from standing height, thats about 75cm or more, and because my beloved phone was in a Defender case, it survived just fine.
Sorry to say (InsertNameHere), using a commuter is NOT enough as it seems - at least it dint help for me . We all know that the device may take some punshes if youre lucky - but if it's just bad luck it can break very easiely.
Did yours break while in a Commuter case? I use both but if i am taking my phone out in a rugged place, i will use Defender, the Defender will definately save your phone from some quite harsh drops, like i say, saved mine from a drop onto concrete from 75cm. Could of been higher, it fell out of the belt holster, so thats waist height, so actually possibly over a metre.
The Defender would have been the better choise for me in the end, but now it's too late. The thing is, that the display is just large and it is not supportet very much by the housing. So it's a matter of chance and g-forces and whaterver you can do against that will make the 'phone' even larger. So the best you can do is be freakin' cautious and dont pick it up from your nightstand half in sleep while its connected to the charger! I broke mine twice during that procedure (saying to self: soooo foolish!) Its just not the right device for me. Even though I really love it...
There is no doubt in my mind the streak is one delicate device, I remember my first rugged handset, hard as nails, a TV fell on it and TV was broken, phone lived to be sold to a builder....

I am using it with CM7 without any issue or laggyness.

I dont think DS5 is faster than G Note
I'll buy G Note cause it has faster hardware, better screen with spen, 8mp camera and update to ICS with support form SS...
But now, I'm happy with DS5, maybe will buy G Note II next year

Apart from removing all the unused system apps, like stats, updater, use autostarts or similar and disable everything that isn't necessary after start up, you can have about 160MB free upon boot. Also increase SD cache size to 8MB and format the data partitiion to ext4.
i am pretty much impressed... tried that on longhorn miui/combo and i get a relatively free ram of 210mb~
and quadrant advance score (2.x) of more than 1500
Wow I was gonna suggest to just get a replacement screen, since I got one a few months ago for about $25 (brand new)...but I guess since they have discontinued the device the price on parts has skyrocketed.

Warning: Once you do this, the only way to revert is to flash a stock rom. Also, nandroid backup/restore and factory resets will not work as Streakmod doesn't work with ext4 partitions. You lose all your data when you convert. I've used it and it does make a substantial difference in real world performance.

good to know... usually you just need to replace the whole lcd unit only.. no need to disassemble the gorilla glass part... unless that is what that need to be done...
Unfortunately that is what is required , but I have just got another off ebay for £50/$65 that was sold as dead but with 2 weeks of warranty left on it. Turns out the battery was done for and the streak is showing charging disabled. Put a new battery in and hey presto working ok, now running dsc v1.1.
Intend replacing the screens and selling on ebay to recoup some cash and then put the one with damaged screen on for spares. Talk about recycling. Spent £200/$280 but hope to get back £160/$200, so fully working streak with mugen extended battery, cradle, otterbox, spare battery and screen covers will have cost £40/$55. Must be better than a Note at that price
I am sorry all the people who are left without such a great smartphone, what else can be said to relate to your favorite things with care)
I slam my streak at the floor as it shown another break lcd (dead pixel and random colour) ... my 2 year old son just drop it again... and its only like 30 cm height... cost me 100 buck last time for lcd replacement... not gonna happen again... using chinese android phone now

Ok. I'm begining to feel that this device simply doesn't love me at all.
I got my first N7. The next day, I was walking (my N7 was in my bag)and the leash of my bag was cut (for unknow reasons). Bag goes down, N7 screen cracks. I had no case for it...
Same day, I'm buying a new one since I couldn't find any spare parts at this time. With my new N7 I bought an HTC-Flyer Case since it was the only one which could fit the N7. (No N7 cases available in Greece yet...). I thought I could wait until spare parts become available, fix the first one and sell it.
1 week after I bought the second N7, I was holding 10 cm above a table. I repeat, 10, maybe 15 centimeters, above a table and I w Sas reading an e-book. Suddenly, my, second, N7 slips from my hands, drops on the table with the lower left corner and the screen broke more than the first one.
Ok. Now I get it, This thing is very sensitive. F*ck you Asus for doing it like that because I've dropped my TF101 a few times and still working like a charm.
The thing, now, is that I can't find any spare parts and I'll not buy a third N7.
Does anyone know where can I find spare screen to repair them? I've found this site but it's always out of stock.
Please guys, I am begging for your help!
Thanks in advance.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yep... ASUS is supposed to be there to catch the device when it falls.
Most devices break when you drop them without a decent case. Nothing new there.
Don't drop your stuff?
Of course I am not blaming Asus. I was the one who dropped the device (at least the second time) I am the one to blame.
What I wrote about Asus is just for making me feel a little better and not that I crash every N7 I get my hands on. Nothing more. Maybe it was a mistake to write that about them. I apologize if I must.
Any chance, now, you know where I can take a spare screen?

To drop one N7 is careless, to drop two N7s marks you out as clumsy and, yes, you are blaming Asus for your clutziness.
Worse, you are trying to crowd source information you could easily source yourself.
In this post from you we see Greece and why it has an ex-economy
Hey, come to think of it .. where did you get the Drachma for two N7s ?:laugh:
I do sympathize since I have two iPads which are used mainly by two kids of 3 and 2 years of age. As you can imagine, they've dropped them from various angles and heights (one even took a tumble down a whole flight of stairs.
Neither of them have a scratch on them. They were protected by a silicone/tpu case from day one.

I've searched a lot around the Internet and I couldn't find anything. That's why I asked here. Obviously a big mistake...
Second I wish we had drachma again, but that's an other conversation which I am not willing to do here.

The screen is basically all one unit, so you can't just get the glass. It looks to be easy to replace however. I would imagine there will be parts available soon from other parties like other devices as well as replacement batteries etc...
Probably a little soon still.
There are of course official sources for parts, but I don't know if ASUS is making them available (not had an ASUS device before).

Yeah, those kinds of cases aren't really the best to protect from fall damage
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
There were other reports by people claiming the screen itself is easier to damage. I think I recall someone saying they had their screen split just from normal usage...
In any case, I dropped my SGT7 from a few feet onto a carpet, and nothing happened. I haven't had my N7 fall any distance yet, and I played games like osu!droid, which causes me to press pretty rapidly and hard on the screen, and nothing happened to it (yet), so idk...
In any case, it's safe to say dropping your Nexus 7, or most devices for that matter can cause some pretty bad physical damage

Hya,
I'm new on here , so please be easy on me with my question  . I recently purchased Google nexus 7 tablet from some local website who asks the customers to report any defect with in one day, only then they will ship new product :crying: , So I'll get one day for checking . Since Google hasn't launched Google nexus 7 tablet here (India) officially, so I'm getting the imported one, website support peoples even ain't aware of how to get warranty if product gets turned in to black box .
I saw some q/a here and I found many peoples having problem with product (related hardware ones) . I'd be thankful if you guys could list some basic things to check pertaining to hardware of product to make sure everything is fine
Hi, I'm on my 5th replacement and everyone had a different fault!
First you want to check round the edge of the screen to make sure the glass is flush with the case and not raised up so you can push it down with your finger, If anywhere the problem is normally down the left side. (DON'T TRY TO REPAIR IT YOURSELF WITH THE SCREW FIX TUTORIALS!) In most cases the fix is just temporary and the problem returns. This is a defect!
The next thing you want to do is check for dead pixels & white light bleed out around the edge of the screen. This app is perfect for the job.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ujacha.deadpixel
Next you want to check the speakers by cranking them up to 100% and play several video or audio files to check for crackling/distortion/popping.
It's well known that the speakers are very cheap but they should still be crystal clear with the volume at it's highest.
Now you want to check the touch screens response. There is an issue with the screen not responding after heavy processing/game play where the screen becomes unresponsive down one half of the screen and only locking/unlocking the screen solves the problem.
First I would advise hammering the N7 with a game that is Tegra 3 supported for example Dead Trigger or Shadow Gun to get it nice and hot if at any time the screen becomes unresponsive then you have the same issue.
To double check run this app, you should quite easily be able to detect all ten fingers on the screen at all times.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.the511plus.MultiTouchTester
The last thing I would check is the connectivity through Wi-Fi & Bluetooth, this is the least common fault as far as I know. Just check you have nice strong signals with no drop outs.
So after all that if you have managed to put a tick in all the boxes I reckon you have a sweet device!
I hope this helps you and any one else out there and that you have more luck than I had finally getting a perfect working N7.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Great question (although I don't know if it's a dupe). Thanks for all the info mr_tris. That sucks you're having so many issues. I haven't noticed anything wrong with mine since I got it yesterday, but I'll check all the things you mentioned when I have the tablet in front of me.
Billy
@mr_tris jeez!! 5 replacement means something and very horrible so to speak . I really appreciate help and advises you posted. I'll make sure to check them out .
The only problem I'll have if found any problem in device is that I'll have to wait another 20 days since the new product will be imported by website peoples for me to make replacement
One other thing to check: the gyro.
Does the screen rotate normally or do you have to turn the device so the screen is practically vertical (assuming you choose to unlock rotation via the notification panel).
If you are into gaming, try a driving game or something to make sure the cars don't veer left or right.
I had this trouble on my second one and have read of quite a few other people having the same problem.
The only real issue I've heard about is the screen raising above the bevel some. Yea this is a defect as the screws are too long and pushes the screen out. Returning it 50 times isn't going to fix it. Only by chance may you get one where the screw is slightly smaller (1mm). The solution is to make a little washer out of some plastic and put it under the screw. It doesn't need much to fix it. The cover pops off just like a regular battery cover and the screws are right there. If it is a problem for you, why NOT try to spend 2 min and just fix it yourself?
You wouldn't even notice unless someone pointed it out. You literally have to turn the N7 and look across the screen to even notice it. Hardly anything to freak out about.
Some people have blown their speakers already too. Most have been after a long session of movie watching or music. I suggest to not blow your speakers out (using at Max volume for extended periods) right out of the box. Let the speakers break in first. Honestly the speakers are so loud anyway that I normally have it at 50% volume Max. Probably not an issue either but its good usage practice.
I've also heard of one or two screens fritzing out with lines and fades. Probably nothing to concern yourself with.
I haven't heard of anything else but I guess it would always be best to check it out thoroughly.
I do recommend unlocking first thing because it wipes all data including storage and saves. I'm using EOS rom and its heavenly. Trinity kernel is also awesome because he tweaks the colors of the screen to pop more.

One other thing to check: the gyro.
Does the screen rotate normally or do you have to turn the device so the screen is practically vertical (assuming you choose to unlock rotation via the notification panel).
If you are into gaming, try a driving game or something to make sure the cars don't veer left or right.

Well I just installed Puddle and Riptide and my gyroscope is offset by 11% to the right. I can calibrate it with the compass app but it goes back to normal when you reboot it!
RMA form is completed and Replacement No.6 is on its way! :-/

Hya,
I'm new on here , so please be easy on me with my question  .

Most important things are:
Screen - check viewing angles and color reproduction in the dark. Best reference is to use a site like GSMARENA for high res photos and screen reviews.
Body - Look for cracks or scratches, especially around ports and the headphone jack.
Things to disregard:
Slow system - this is just something you will have to deal with in an android environment.
Warm after prolonged use - again, normal.

I just gave a Nexus 7 to my wife for her Birthday yesterday. I must be working fine since her was on it all day yesterday and for the last several hours this evening. If anything was wrong with it, she would of discovered it by now.
When it arrives turn it on, set it up and enjoy it. Don't make urself miserable looking for flaws. If you don't notice anything out of the box don't go looking for issues. Trust me....

I wish I could have that attitude about my electronic devices. It would be a shame for someone to find a defect after the 15 day return grace period just because their device might be OK and they never bothered checking it. You must have spare money to burn. :what:

No I don't have money to burn lol but I just don't think its worth the stress of over examining for defects. If you look hard enough you will see that something isn't 100% straight or a tiny spec of plastic is sticking out or whatever and then it will stand out like a sore thumb once you've noticed it lol. Give it a glance over and if it looks good to you then enjoy your tablet.

Hey guys...this is my first post in here, so please go easy on me. So, i have been in love with The nexus 7 since the day it was released. I have seen all kind of videos/reviews and thought that it is a perfect fit for me. But what i'm scared about is the durability of Nexus 7's screen. I have been hovering over Xda and specially in the Nexus 7 forum and found a lot of criticism regarding its screen cracks and poor build quality.
The thing is I live in Bangladesh, where i wont be able to enjoy any warranties or guarantees(actually I will get a one-day replacement warranty and that's it). Also, it is highly likely that i wont find the necessary equipment to fix it myself. I found only a single case cover for the Nexus which is the poetic brand slimline(Is that any good ? ). Nexus 7 16Gb version costs around $320 here
All this makes me doubt to purchase the awesome gadget and rather settle for the sub-standard Galaxy tab 2 7.0 3G which costs around the same.
But then again...i feel like I wont be able to happily enjoy any other set as i have been in love with Nexus 7 for the last 6 months. So, as u guys can seen that i'm real in pickle. So any advice will go a long way for me. Is Nexus 7 really worth the risk ?
Thanks.
Just don't drop it, any screen can crack that way. Also get a screen protector, the glass does scratch relatively easy.
Fun story. I got an 8gb nexus from the first batch that were made. But I don't currently live in the US, so I ran a huge gamble by ordering one and having my family send it out to me in Asia. Worked *perfectly* until I went back to the US for Thanksgiving. Then, somehow, I blew out the speaker. I was able to get in touch with Google and get it swapped out in under a week, returned to Asia with my new 8GB (no magic upgrade, drat) and we've been happy ever since.
I don't think it's really any risk. The majority who complain about the nexus are a minority of the owners.
Also keep in mind you will hear more horror stories from pissed off owners than stories of folks reporting zero issues

Well that is true and reassuring.
I'd say go for it. As for screen cracking for "no reason", I always wonder just how much truth there is to those stories. I've been perfectly happy with my nexus 7, and it has none of the "so common" problems.

My friend got his 16gig N7 the day it came out and has had zero hardware issues with it. Gotta give credit to magiconthetire as well, he hit the nail on the head. When things go wrong it's the end of the world. But when things go right, you won't even know anything is happening at all.
Also I picked up the Poetic Slim case you mentioned and I really like it. The only draw back is how close the case comes to the bezel on the edges of the screen; if you have big hands or don't hit the bottom navigation bar or top notification bar at the right angle...the case sort of gets in the way. My solution to that is using a stylus for more accurate precision. The stylus also makes typing significantly easier, especially if you use gesture typing such as Swype, SwiftKey Flow, etc.
OP if you know someone you trust in Europe, USA, or even Australia. Get them to buy the tablet for you and ship it out to you. Even with shipping it will be a lot less than $320, if it breaks for something that is under warranty send it back to them and they can return it for repairs.
Cheers Danny

I've only had mine for a couple of weeks and so far no issues here. This is under pretty heavy use as well, as I take my Nexus 7 with me everywhere that I go. The case works really well though, it has a snug fit on the N7 so it doesn't move around inside of it at all, the smart cover that turns the screen on when you open the flap back has worked flawlessly, the hand strap for the back is really nice for using it in portrait mode while laying in bed or for just holding it up during prolonged periods, and the landscape stand is a little tricky to figure out at fist...but works just fine once you figure it out. I'd recommend some kind of sound toggle app for your notification bar as well, because the case does make it a bit of a pain to reach the physical buttons. But that's not really Poetic's fault, the way the buttons angle down with the curve of the backside of the tablet makes them kind of annoying for any case that doesn't have the same slope on it.
As far as stylus' go, I heard good things about this one and it was still fairly cheap...I just got it in the mail a couple of days ago but so far, so good:

The thing is i need to wait for 3-4 months to receive any accessories for the nexus 7. So, meanwhile i need to live with the poetic brand as its the only one around.

I have dropped mine a few times from different heights on different surfaces and its fine. But if you drop it right it will probably shatter, just get a case. Something like this if you are really clumsy.

Asus have international warranty for it.
Beamed from my Maguro.
If you ever want to buy a case throughout the internet I'd be more than happy to help a fellow owner out and re-ship to you!
I don't want to persuade you not to get one because I love the n7 and think everyone should have one, but i just broke my second one. My daughter dropped the first one and the corner of the screen shattered. I didn't have insurance because I've never dropped or lost a phone or laptop or anything, so it cost full price to replace it.
I had the second one in my back pocket, bent down, and screwed up the screen. My pants aren't tight but my butt put a little bit of leverage on the middle of the screen and broke it. When I turned it on later, the screen has a discolored line through it and a pattern of random lines on each side and no normal picture. The screen glass didn't crack, but the screen internals must have. I paid $50 for insurance so I hope it will be replaced with no hassle.
Long story short, I'll never use an n7 without a protective case again, and I've never used a case on any device.
Thanks a lot guys....I have taken all the advice into consideration and have found a satisfying solution. Gonna wait three months and buy through a friend in US.
Edit : How can I close the thread ?

Hey guys. I got my Nexus6P exactly on the 1st of this month through a local retailer here called Poorvika mobiles. Pretty awesome and I've had no problems until today when I found the paint on the right corner edge of my phone seems to have peeled off. I'm pretty sure it's not a scratch as I've had a Spigen rugged armor case since day 10 and I check my phone occasionally for issues. I want to know if this would come under warranty as this is pretty soon for a phone of this cost to have paint come off. Picture attached to post.
Couldn't attach picture to first post for some reason. Posting here.
And will they accept if I return it?
Maybe, call them and report your results.
They might, but you'll need to contact them...
It's rudimentary...

UPDATE: So I remove my case today for the first time after taking that picture and holy f**k. It's chipped on the top. It's been in the case the whole time. Right now, I'm at home most of the time and the phone is either with me or on a table. It hasn't fallen even once to date. I have no clue as to what is happening
You could try to change the phone but maybe you might get a replacement with eg. faulty pixels. If you use a case, I would not bother about this problem. Just for the fun of it, when was your phone manufactured ? Mine was built in 11/13.
What about when you're sleeping can you fully account for the devices whereabouts

Mine was manufactured on 11/11. And I think I'll head over to the store now and show it to them. The problem right now is I have no real proof of anything. Anyway, I guess it'll be worth the ask. One of the reasons, I purchased this phone apart from it's awesome performance is the looks. It sucks to see this happening to a great phone like this so early.

Yeah. I live with my parents who hate android so they never touch my phone. Apart from that, I sleep the last at night so there's no way anyone could've taken it. Also it's in its case all the time.
