So while trying to flash the 4.4.4 ROM to my Xperia Z it fails and now simply says the update failed and to connect my phone to my PC but when I do it doesn't detect the phone at all so PC Companion won't update it. What do I do?

I asked thinking I'd soft bricked the phone, I'm not the type to ever want to flash a device to restore it so the whole "better use google" argument is pointless here. This entire forum is turning into "you're not getting a genuine answer even if you came here for a genuine discussion of alternate options". No need to be like that! Sorted it now anyway so can a Moderator close this thread please?

o2 UK Update was having problems yesterday but it has been resolved now, retry and if not flash the device using FlashTool (You can download and decrypt the firmware there) then it'll just take you through a basic screen by screen process of how to flash the latest firmware. (Always fully wipe when flashing through, if this is an issue backup everything before you flash)

It's all good man, sometimes though on the XDA forums it's hard to get some help being pretty new to the whole flashing thing it's easier to keep some distance with it. Needed my phone up and working cause come this weekend I have no laptop (another story of stress) but it's all good! Looking at your thanks meter it seems you've done a fair bit to help people around here!

but it's seems you're not really really new to flash! But every new or not new guy should take care about that to not flash wrong thing that lead to problem

Maybe your boot loader unlocked?

Might be premature but can someone say if the Xperia Arc Rom, being 2.3 will be compatible with the X10? Some apps are bound to work.. Looking like a good Gingerbread phone and potential ROM solution for the X10

I am sure that Bin4ry, jerpelea, zdzihu and all the other awesome devs will have no problem finding a way to port and flash the 2.3 Xperia arc ROM onto our X10's!

Two months ago I've just accepted the fact that my X8 is a garbage and I have to buy a better phone in case I want something done.
X8 is a entry level phone, sad but true :\

Amazing value. SE really make great hardware. The software is clear and clever also, very modern architecture.
Only thing letting this highly impressive stack of accolades is this drm on the bootloader. This will not effect most daily users, they won't even notice I'm a Dev... I unfortunately do though :-(

I like to know that to. I have LT15a generic user world rom which I thought it will help some people to use this.
Any help would be nice. I did the update with SEUS and the files are in the folder but don't know how I can decrypt them as didn't work with Flash Tool.

I never did it but logically:
USB debugging ON
plug the Arc to the PC and don't bother change the ''connect'' feature.
Open DOS window in the SDK tool folder where the adb executable is, then:
ADB devices
ADB pull *.* /system
ADB pull *.* /data
It should copy all your system and data files to the adb folder in your PC

Do I have to reset my phone before the dump to have a clean filesystem dump ?
ps : the two commands give me the same results for the contents of the directory /system and /data on my computer.

It would have been lot easier if we had recovery on Arc, you just have to nand backup and voila! but we still don't have root

Hi everyone.
I got this phone on my birthday 4 months ago.
Over this time, i did everything but mess around with roms.
I installed xrecovery a few weeks ago.
And now i got this black screen (if you haven't seen it, it's that screen with the Sony Ericsson printed without the green circle).
And I must point out that i forgot to install the PC Companion before that happened.
So, now it's just stuck, idk what to do,I tried the flash mode but it says the driver can't be installed.
Any help,tips?
P.S. Please give me a link with the 2.1 version if possible, i don't know where to get the right one (for the X8)

Hi, DON'T WORRY IT'S ALL RIGHT. EVERYTHING WILL BE OK
Just go to the Se official Website and download X8 Pc driver,
if you can see the white SONY ERICSSON when you boot, everything will be ok.
now, follow these steps.
a. Download x8 PC driver on their official website. Google SE... and you will find that page.
b. Install and open it.
c. Click SUPPORT ZONE, and click UPDATE SERVICE.
d. Click REPAIR PHONE
e. Follow Update Service's giving tips and you will fix it.
The first boot may takes you about five minutes. Don't take down the battery. Or you will be crazy...
You can fix your phone with US without turning on your phone, enjoy

Umm, try re-installing pc companion. Before i tried flashing all this custom stuff on my phone, me, being a curious idiot, played around with the x8 and dicovered SE had already put pc companion in my phone, all i had to do was install it in the autorun menu. Also, try rebooting yr modem. It may be a long shot but hey, you'd never know...

Only if your using cw auto recovery, when I go to flash it it says its a Vodaphone firmware.... hmm,,,,

At one point DoomLord had a means of seeing how old the ROM was... when it was signed.
maybe it is a pre-upgrade to ics or jb that leaves everything more advisable to make the jump
i think that was another error from sony

I have been testing the new baseband on the T-Mobile network in the netherlands (wich is known for bad internet connections).
While it does feel like it loads pages on more places i have been seeing more missing pictures while using this baseband then on the older 36 baseband.
I managed to root my phone and my next step is to modify the kernel, so if any dev want to help me with that I will appreciate! :beer:

I hope you or the others have some time to test the latest CM13 release,
better flash TWRP first (the one dedicated to CM/AOSP-based ROMs) and then the ROM, Kernel, Gapps (+/- XPosed, if you need),
I flashed all 4 in one go and it went without problems.

The ROM runs quite smooth on my E6683, but there's no SIM Detection. However there's duall sim setting.
The camera won't work, but all of the other functions are ok.
Now returning back to stock cuz to I have to use the phone function....you know, as you've mentioned, it's a phone but not a PDA.
Hope those will help.
Edit: Ahhhhhhhh I flash back to stock too quickly and I forgot to get the logs... Will get them this weekend if you want.

nice report, i exactly had the same experience on my e6633, no sim detection, and camera dont work, all others was fine as i saw,,
i flashed your last kernel (1.9.4.6) and saw same result,,
Edit: oh, i forget it: it can not detect my external sd card in both cm and twrp recovery,,
