XDA II cant open programs when connected to cradle ??

Hi, My xda II can't seem to open programs when connected to the cradle..
It says ->
eg. windows media player
"cannot open 'wmplayer'. A critical component is missing or cannot start because program memory is unavailable. Tap start > settings > System tab > Memory, stop programs that did not automatically stop, and try again."
there were no other programs running except active sync. This always is the case when the xda II is connected to the cradle.
Need your help, thanks...
any help please?
What version of active sync are you using?
Is it because, when activesync runs on your xda, you have too many total programs running (more than? 32?)
- Ben
I'm using verion 3.7 of active sync..
Ben, How come there is too many programs running when connected? I always check the running programs and the only program running is active sync...
thanks
Lots of programs are running in the background.
Programs don't realy close if you click on X.
Use Magic Button to really close programs (freeware).
Download it @ http://www.trancreative.com/mb.aspx
Well! I don't have a XDA II actually, but I read in this forum that you can only have a maximum number of Programs ? Threads ? Processes ? Services running. Then Windows Mobile starts closing the programs you have in the background.
What I was suggesting is that you are already running the maximum number -1 of processes, when you cradle it, activeSync process starts up, so you reach your maximum total of processes, after that, Windows refuses to start any new processes, instead of closing the ones that are running in the background, maybe because they are all "critical".
It was just a suggestion,
try closing some other programs you might have installed and start up everytime

15 mins to get up and running after soft reset :S

hey first thing i want to say is this phone is amazing and it blows away everything and anything i have had in the past (ok not my 360 though).
but in the last 2 weeks ive noticed whenever i perform a soft reset, mainly because of some program freezing, it takes an enormous time for the phone to recover functionality. i mean, that when i turn the phone on, i see the pink circle appear and then the t-mobile logo, after that the Launching HTC Sense shows and then it takes about 2 mins to completely show the home screen, i.e. clock tabs calender, notification bar and all.
thats all fine, but then when i try to scroll through the home screen tabs at the bottom it jitters and is extremely unresponsive moving after like 30 secs to 3 tabs. its the same with the start button, when i try to scroll down the apps its really slow and does the same jitters and when i select something it just does that 4 colour dots loading thing.
it happens every single time after a soft reset, however if i turn the phone on and leave it aside for around 15 mins then when i try to scroll through tabs or apps it works a treat, like nothing was wrong with it.
please can someone help me, i dont know if its some start up programs causing it or some registry tweak that needs to be applied to correct it. but any help is greatly appreciated and thank you
p.s. i have quite a few apps installed :s i installed resco explorer and through 1 of the apps 'system info', im going to post some of the numbers maybe it might shed some light.
program memory 336.9 MB - used 193.86 Mb (58%)
storage memory 214.7 MB - used 204.99 MB (95%)
storage card 1.8 GB - used 1.78 GB (97%)
here is a list of the things under \Windows\StartUp
BTTrayCE
DelWMPTempFolder
HTCStartUp
PKG
poutlook
RunGNAgent
XMmobiresetter
I suspect its down to having a shiny new toy and access to this "sweetshop" of a forum that's at the heart of the issue here. I too had similar problems earlier today when my storage memory dipped even lower than your's that resulted in pop up messages from windows warning me about critically low ammounts of storage and telling me to remove some installed or redundant files to improve performance..cue bye bye to co-pilot as I dont use it and things have improved considerably.Amongst the stuff I've installed are Tomtom navigator 7, Garmin mobile XT,Igo8.3.4,ACR hd,Totall commander,Resco file explorer, myplayer,Zoomer, skyfire,BsB Tweaks and a slack handfull of games...(all of them installed to the SD card which is now almost at capacity...roll on getting my 16gb card )
These two programs (RunGNAgent, XMmobiresetter) are not in my startup folder, so try to delete them (before deleting backup them), and see if that helps.
first of all thanks to terrytpot and Mikulec.
ill try to uninstall some apps and try an reduce the memory as much as i can and see if i notice an improvement. hopefully that'll work and ill also do the backup of the 2 files and delete them from the startup.
thanks again
P.S. if anyone has anymore ideas that would greatly appreciated. thank you
rungna.exe what is it, explained
well I did some experiments with this rungnagent.exe. witch apeared to be in my startup folder.
I installed sbp-safemode (just in case i would crash the phone (ps im having a samsung i-780).
then i moved the rungna.exe to my storragecard (away from any bootup options)
I shutted my phone down holding the on/off button and restarted it.
instead of waiting 2 minutes for the phone to startup I could scroll trough start, my homescreen and apps (really fast) within 20 seconds, wich was the startup-time when i got the phone .
I made sure that all my apps were still working and guess what they did not have any complications to any backgrounded or foregrounded apps.
I was starting to get very curious about what this app would be.
I loaded the program to my windows 7 desktop-pc and scanned it using filealyzer from savernetworking (the makers of spybot search and destroy).
the file seems to be a .net executable microsoft visual c# v.7.0 . net program with the following funtions in the hex-strings (the commands given to a program on how to funtion) and the behaviour is (in my case):
check the installed files from the program google navigator.
there's also in te hextext that it has to open google navigator trough a link in the windows folder named Google "Navigator.ink"
so when you deïnstall google navigator (in my case I did that because the software was crap). it can't load and run it's intergration with the system at startup and may hook your mobile phone down at that very same startup. the makers of the software just made a mistake in their deïnstall executable because it doesn't remove this specific file. (google navigator is not google maps google navigator is a 3d navigation program using google maps you can find their software on pdafun.net)
so when you deïnstalled the program just put the file somewhere on the phone (just in case) or at least remove it from your startup folder.
So this would mean: Problem solved thread closed XD
ps
my phone stoped freezing when i deleted this startup entry so for some reason it also hooked up the system when you opend more than 5 regular apps. having you to reset the phone all the time. those problems are gone now .
I would suggest that you install spb pocket plus buy it (or bittorent it XD). the software has many handy features with one in specific being very handy. the boot in safemode option.
when your phone crashes 2 times (so you stik your stilus in the resethole 2 times) it comes up with a special bootscreen giving you 2 options boot regular or boot in safe mode.
boot in safe mode means you startup your phone without loading any registry entries or boot commands. you just get a blank screen (no deskapps, tochflow, home shells, etc). with the regular startbutton and all programs and settings. meaning you can fix the phone when it crashed.
fixing means not having to do rom-resets (while worrying about contact backups, messages and all those apps you installed and have to reïnstall from scratch when hardresetting).
good luck with ya pocket personal computer XD.
amonfog
ps: thread still closed XD

Opinions on Windows 8.1 / RT 8.1

I've been using Windows 8.1 on my Surface RT tablet for a few hours now and I am not too happy with what Microsoft has done already. Though there are some pretty neat improvements I am sure I'll find more things I don't like about the update.
1. I really don't need the Start button because I am already used to all the hot corners, and now it's just a waste of space on the Taskbar where I keep most Desktop apps and where I still want to have some free space for the icons to expand when apps are opened. Besides, the old Start thumbnail-button in the Task Switcher looked much better. I understand the need for it, but wish there was an option to disable the Start button in Taskbar Properties for those who really enjoy the new Windows experience.
2. The new Search Charm is less usable. I used the Search Charm to quickly search within an active app, and now you have to open a drop-down menu to select the app you are currently in every single time in order to do such a search. Not to mention that it is no longer possible to search within an app of choice from other places than the app itself.
3. I really don't like the fact that they removed Messenger app. Though it was very buggy, it was still a good companion to the Facebook-friendly People app. Why have Facebook integration there at all, if they are forcing people to use website/official FB app anyway because of the lacking chat capabilities?
4. The upper number row makes the on-screen keyboard look less aesthetically pleasing. They could've made the numbers less standing out, though I do understand the practical purpose of the number row.
5. The variable-size multitasking-split is great, but other than standard sizes should be disabled for apps that do not properly support them. You would not want to make any app window smaller if other app doesn't benefit of it.
6. I wish there was a way to uninstall Desktop Office apps and have them back when desired. I am not going to use Outlook ever and I would surely appreciate the extra storage space.
7. Though I like how they renamed Computer to This PC and added superb Skydrive integration, they made libraries less accessible by featuring local /User/ folders instead of libraries and removing them from the sidebar of Windows Explorer. How are you supposed to easily access them?
8. What I was really looking forward to seeing in the 8.1 update is the possibility to actually use microSD card from somewhere but the Desktop by adding it's locations to libraries. Microsoft has always defended the lack of local storage by saying that there is an USB port and a microSD slot, but how can you actually use the extra space? Go to Desktop every single time and browse your photos with Windows Photo Viewer Desktop app? Not to mention that I had to encrypt the SD card using another computer's Bitlocker and that I have to manually unlock the card every time my Surface restarts. I partially solved the SD card being featured in libraries problem by creating a virtual disk which I have to mount after every reboot. It works fine, but it's crazy. I am aware that this only affects Windows RT.

You'd better post this on the beta forums. It is useless here, other than attracting trollz.

I have no idea what you are talking about regarding seeing SD card contents in libraries - all you have to do is right click, add to library, select library you want it to show up.
And there is one huge plus for me in the added start menu button - now you can call its context menu on a touchscreen-device and quickly open computer management, admin's powershell and so on. As I do this often while hacking - I really like it.
And the new added onscreen keyboard is great - now it has an up/down arrows and functional keys
The keyboard mode with full arrow keys and (I think) Fkeys already existed, but was hidden by default. If you went into the settings for the touch input panel you could enable it.

Sorry. What I actually meant by that was that Metro apps don't see the "libraried" content from SD card. And the indexing is disabled there too.
P.S.: I found out that 8.1 actually allows Bitlocker to automatically unlock an SD card on boot.

There was a guide to symlink SD card to a folder, just Google add SD card content to metro apps.

Reply to DM98 apps.
My DM98 is rooted with Kingo. I have installed Skype (perfect for video calls), Messenger (also good for video calls), Google Translate, Facebook (regular), Google with voice search, Screen Rotation Control, and Evernote. They all work fine. I have previously tried WhatsApp, Netflix, and You Tube, and again they all work fine, but I have uninstalled them as I don't use them much. If you try to add a new contact under contacts, you obtain an error message (I have three DM98's and it is the same with all of them). Therefore to add a contact I use Wondershare MobileGo, a desktop PC program, enter new data that way and copy to the phone - perfect, no problems. MobileGo also allows you to do a complete backup / restore (and a quick root if you want) in case of any problems. Finally, I transfer 320 x 240 pixel photos via Bluetooth from my PC, as well as small video clips. All display perfectly. I should mention that my information from LEMFO, the makers of the watch (in China), is that a new model with the faster processor MTK6580, Android 5.1, and RAM1GB + ROM16GB named the LEM4 Pro (with interchangeable watchstraps) will be available at the end of May 2018.
Dude, I know this post is old but it's still very useful, is there any chance you could put some links up to the software you mentioned please, I'm having a few issues locating the right ones.

I was having issues side-loading APKs as well. Instead, I installed the APKPure App (which did side-load just fine) and it works great for installing apps. Just download the APK file from https://download.apkpure.com/custom...s://apkpure.com/apkpure-app.html&utm_term=a4d and then copy/paste it to the watch's Download folder when connected to your computer via USB. In the watch, I was able to click on that APK file and install it fine and now I can search and install APKs no problem.
After root, do apps like app2SD work well? I tried moving apps using TiBu, but ended up messing things up and I'm in the process of a factory reset to try again.

I'm working on the "perfect" Windows PC setup with Android over Wi-Fi

I'm working on the "perfect" Windows PC setup with Android over Wi-Fi where what I have working almost perfectly is
Windows 10 mounts the entire non-rooted Android 12 phone (all partitions!) over Wi-Fi as a drive letter
Windows 10 mirrors the non-rooted Android 12 phone using the Windows mouse & keyboard (sharing clipboards)
Windows 10 adb easily accesses the entire non-rooted Android 12 phone over Wi-Fi
Everything is free (almost all of it is FOSS).
No USB cable is ever needed for this setup to work (not even to establish adb connections).
With this "almost perfect" free Android-12/Windows-10 Wi-Fi setup, anyone can:
Manipulate Android on my Windows monitor at 20 inches tall & 9 inches wide!
Run batch files on Windows to click Activities on Android (e.g., reset advertising ID)
Copy almost any file from Android (even root files!) to Windows (and vice versa)
Slide APKs from Windows to Android to install them
etc.
The only kink in my setup is that I don't yet know how to get the native file explorer on Windows 10 to view files deeper than the "data" directory on the external sdcard, as can be seen in the screenshots below.
Otherwise the setup is nearly perfect.
If you have questions as to how it was set up, just ask and I'll gladly explain.
