Reply to DM98 apps.
My DM98 is rooted with Kingo. I have installed Skype (perfect for video calls), Messenger (also good for video calls), Google Translate, Facebook (regular), Google with voice search, Screen Rotation Control, and Evernote. They all work fine. I have previously tried WhatsApp, Netflix, and You Tube, and again they all work fine, but I have uninstalled them as I don't use them much. If you try to add a new contact under contacts, you obtain an error message (I have three DM98's and it is the same with all of them). Therefore to add a contact I use Wondershare MobileGo, a desktop PC program, enter new data that way and copy to the phone - perfect, no problems. MobileGo also allows you to do a complete backup / restore (and a quick root if you want) in case of any problems. Finally, I transfer 320 x 240 pixel photos via Bluetooth from my PC, as well as small video clips. All display perfectly. I should mention that my information from LEMFO, the makers of the watch (in China), is that a new model with the faster processor MTK6580, Android 5.1, and RAM1GB + ROM16GB named the LEM4 Pro (with interchangeable watchstraps) will be available at the end of May 2018.

Dude, I know this post is old but it's still very useful, is there any chance you could put some links up to the software you mentioned please, I'm having a few issues locating the right ones.

I was having issues side-loading APKs as well. Instead, I installed the APKPure App (which did side-load just fine) and it works great for installing apps. Just download the APK file from https://download.apkpure.com/custom...s://apkpure.com/apkpure-app.html&utm_term=a4d and then copy/paste it to the watch's Download folder when connected to your computer via USB. In the watch, I was able to click on that APK file and install it fine and now I can search and install APKs no problem.

After root, do apps like app2SD work well? I tried moving apps using TiBu, but ended up messing things up and I'm in the process of a factory reset to try again.

Req: Automatically Download BBC Headlines Video

Was wondering if anyone knows of a program that can download files based on a schedule? Would love if my phone automatically downloaded the latest BBC Video summary 7am every morning (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/5063222.stm) so I can watch it on the bus. The file is only ~1mb, but it'd be great if the phone could download it while im at home and connected to my wifi.
Added bonus if it can store the file on the storage card and yet another bonus if it works on Smartphones (giving up my TyTN after a long and faithful service).
Any ideas?
The file can be downloaded easily..and can also be stored on a storage card..but i dnt know how to program it to download at 7 AM
if u can manually run it..or assign it to a scheduler..if u can live with that i will program it for you
Edit :..can u direct-link the file.also does it changes its name every day or not
Edit 2: i think this is the direct link http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsa/n5ctrl/summaries/news/bb/video/news_bb.asx
Sounds like a good idea. Could you use RunEveryday to schedule the task?
The above .asx file points to mms://wm-acl.bbc.co.uk/wms/news/n5ctrl/summaries/news/bb/video/hc_news_latest_bb.wmv
Now we just need something to connect to your wi-fi network and download the file. Could MortScript do this?
i can program it in C#...it will download the file and save it in the Storage Card/news/ folder

How to Transfer Apps (apks) using Bluetooth to any Android Phone (Tutorial) Free !

We all have Apps (apk's) we want to share with our family/friends with Bluetooth, The only thing is most phones will not allow this.
( The only requirement is both devices must have a File Manager/Explorer like... ES File Explorer, Astro, Neptune..etc)
1. Turn on Bluetooth on both devices make discoverable & pair.
2. Go to your sdcard where you have those Apps that you paid $$$ for...cough... cough
3. Now Rename your the App you want share with Bluetooth to: Example...from MADBirds.apk to MADBirds.zip
Now highlight & hold your renamed App...Example...MADBirds.zip & now your File explorer should now give you some options, select send/share, then Bluetooth, next select device you paired with & send, have the other device accept file & download will start on device.
4. Go to the sdcard/Bluetooth folder on receiving device & rename...Example...MADBirds.zip to MADBirds.apk & Install the App.
5. Remember to rename your App on your device back to...Example...MADBirds.apk
6. Now you can brag to them... "thats right I''m the man or the **** "
*** I'm sure there's more ways to do Bluetooth Transfers, but all you need is a file explorer... this is quick & easy once you get the hang of it.

Easiest Way to transfer APKs over Bluetooth: AndroAppLink
Use AndroAppLink. It's a free app transfer manager for Android. And it's extremely easy to use. It only needs to be installed in the sender's phone [cool eh!] and also, it does not use up any extra phone memory or storage for transferring apps. It's just too nice and clean.
The download link is sourceforge.net/projects/androapplink/
 :good: :victory:
Amazon paid apps?
I have GTA: SA from the Amazon app store just because they gave me $15 for ordering something. When I get the APK over to another device it shows that the user does not own the content. How can I get past this?
To transfer everything , we need a use cable to connect two phones ,

New to smartphone, various questions

I have several questions that hopefully some of you could answer for me.
1. I tried to put some .pdf's on my phone via PC cable. I placed them under "Download" folder. But they do not appear there. Other .pdf's which I have downloaded with the phone are there, but the ones I copy there via PC do not appear up.
2. When using google maps, is it not possible to set a destination or target by using the map, and without having to actually know the address? Just like dekstop google maps "From here/To here"
3. Is it not possible to navigate by only using the GPS? It makes no sence really to require an internet connection as I have saved parts of the map in use for offline use. I tried the navigation but it wouldn't find the destination.
4. I would like to set "Tasks", but I could not find a proper way to do it. When I do it via calendar, the reminder is not a proper alarm (just a small ding or so, very easy to miss). Id like an alarm similiar to the watch alarm.
5. I've read several methods to root my phone. Which one is the easiest and "cleanest"? And a way to allow me to un-root my phone right after. Would this be a good guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/115297/how-to-root-your-android-why-you-might-want-to/
And should I unlock the bootloader?
6. Does the phone not have the stock capability to record sound? And to record a phone conversation? I come from a flip phone, and those did. Do I really need an app for that?
Thank you all.
I. Send the .pdf's to your email instead. Very easy. Or save them to your sd card.
2. To set a destination jurt long press where you want to go and a menu will pop up. From the menu you can choose route or navigation. You can then input the from address.
3. You can navigate using just the map - follow the blue line- without a data connection as long as you input and download the from and to adress before you swithch of the data connection.
4. I do not use tasks so much but the Google calendar works for me and the reminder is loud enough. I even get an email with sound as a reminder.
5. I can't help you here. I have a Note II and see no reason to root…just yet.
Hope this helps.
^Since he can't answer 5, I'll try. Firstly do NOT use a toolkit. They may be the easiest way of rooting, but if you run into issues (and trust me, if you take advantage of root you probably will at some point) a toolkit won't help you at all. Take the time to do it manually, so that when it comes to the worst you'll know how to sort your phone out. If you look in the stickied threads there's definitely a full guide somewhere (I think in the N4 General forum).
Thanks for the replies.
1. Thata is not really an options. I have some pdf's several mb's big. Nexus 4 also does not have an SD card. There must be a folder where I should place them (or any other files for that matter). I copied over my music and video files in the appropriate directories and those work fine.
2,3. Without internet, I only get "Loading address..." or "Getting driving directions" loading sign, and just stays that way. My location is found via GPS, and the map grid is saved for offline usage. When I save the map grid, does that not save all the addresses in that grid?
I have also added another question in the OP.

1) Do they appear on your PC ? Can you see them with a file explorer (ES File Explorer, for example) ?
2/3) To set a destination, you have to be connected to the internet, whatever you do. I think it's because Maps need internet to set the itinerary and download the part's map that will be cached on your device.
5) I think too that rooting it manually is the best solution.
6) No, it's not possible without having to install an app. If you wan to, I suggest you to install Hi-Q MP3 Recorder. The Lite version should be enough, unless you want to record 10+ minutes. I don't have a clue about recording a phone conversation.

Yes they appear in my phone "Download" directory when I look at it via Windows Explorer on my PC. Maybe they need to be put in another directory and not "Download"? Like videos go into Video. And pictures into DCIM/Camera
Slightly disappointing in regards to the navigation. I guess I'm SOL if I go outside of coverage area . I mean I'l have the map and GPS location, but I'l have to manually navigate, and keep looking at my phone while driving...
When you want to open a .PDF from your phone, do you use a file explorer or a PDF viewer ?

You need something that can decode and display PDFs, i.e. some sort of PDF viewer.

Yes but some PDF viewers require you to put the PDF files in a specific folder. For example, adobe reader will only "see" files in Download/Adobe Reader but you can change settings so that you can search your PDF through a built-in explorer.

If you use a file explorer to try and open a PDF, then if you haven't set a file type association, the OS will ask you which program you want to use to open it, then you can choose Adobe Reader. It doesn't matter if it isn't in a particular folder.

Yep, that's why I asked him if he was using a file explorer or a PDF viewer
PDF Viewer on the phone you mean?
On the phone, when I go to downloads (the only location I know off where I can view PDF's), apparently it uses Quickoffice to open those PDF's (the one I donwloaded). As I mentioned it does not see PDF's I put there manually via the USB cable from my PC -> Nexus 4 via Windows Explorer.
Just to make sure there isn't any confussion, I can see the PDF I put on my phone in Windows Explorer. But when I use my phone, that PDF will not show up in my "Download".
Is there another place I should put it?
So move the PDFs to a different folder and try again. All I know is I can view them using Adobe Reader in any folder
And if it still not working download adobe viewer and try with.
At last, you could download a file explorer app such as ES explorer and open your file with it, it will ask you which app do you want to open the file with

The Nexus 4 quickoffice is just a file viewer (it doesn't even have an app icon), so you'll need to use another application to locate your files to open them in Quickoffice.
I recommend using Astro or ES. I've used both and absolutely love them.
Obligatory Sales pitch: There's also a file manager built into the Quickoffice Pro app (and you can connect cloud accounts too) - It's available for $15 here, and it supports PDF annotation for Adobe 5-9 files.
yep that was the problem. I have installed ES and now I can access my phone files just like on my computer (why wouldnt this be standard?)
I have also installed adobe reader, so I could found the .pdf file too via that app.
Thanks.
Quick side question: I have set-up an email account using the "Email" built in app. However, it changed some privacy settings (stuff like being able to change phone settings, etc) and I clicked accept. Now I would like to review them. Where would those be found? I checked all options in the "Email" app but couldn't find anything.

I think (and mind you this is all my own thoughts through observation/reading news), Google is working towards a life in the "cloud", so storage on the device itself kind of defeats the purpose. there's Drive for file management and gdocs, Quickoffice for when you need Office, Google Play Music, Books, Movies, etc.
You can review app permissions under Settings>Applications>All, then select the application you'd like to see the permissions for.

3: Google maps uses internet to calculate the best route to your destination. While you can view your location offline, any searching does not work - in other words, the actual addresses are not stored in your phone. Only the "picture" of the map is.
4: you can download some app (any.do is awesome), or set the calendar notification sound to something longer. It will still be only a popup, but it will "ring" for longer.
6. yup, you have to find an app for that..
About navigation, as soon as your phone has calculated the route you can turn data off. As someone have said, Google Maps use data for calculating the fastest route, but afterwards only GPS is required to track your position.
I just got my N4 a few days ago and used this guide to root my phone (stupid easy to follow... even has a video if you need it)
Unfortunately, Android doesn't offer a free offline navigation system like Nokia did (OVI maps was great!) but there are some paid alternatives in Android.
I bought Sygic (http://www.sygic.com/en) and it allows you to download all the maps onto your phone and navigate without internet. Maps for Germany are about 700MB. If you are in the US for example, you can just d/l by State.
Hope that helps!

Doesn't Google need internet to recalculate if you zoom in or zoom out?

list of apps (useful apps) tested on galaxy tab 2 p3100. Updated on Oct 28 2013

Hello,
I am opening a thread to list out some useful apps tested on galaxy tab 2 p3100. I will keep updating the list
Adfree - Adfree blocks the popup advertisements on games and other apps. Root is required.
Internet Speed Meter - Nice tool to show your current network speed (3g and wifi) also can be used to track daily network bandwidth usage on 3g and wifi
Folder Mount - Folder mount is used to mount external sd card folder to internal. Main use is to move big games external data (obb, data) to external SD card. Root is required.
TriangleAway - Is a must have for samsung mobile/tablet owners who regularly flash their mobile/tablet with custom ROM. TriangleAway can be used to reset flash counter in order
to claim your warranty. Root is required.
SCR Screen Recorder Pro - This is the only screen recorder I could make work on my galaxy tab 2 p3100. When recording i noticed severe lag in general. However recorded video quality and sound is decent. Root is required.
Clean Master - A very handy app to clean junk files and free up space. Also 1 tap boost widget available. Root is required for some functionality.
2X Client - Remote Desktop tool to connect to your windows machine.
androidVNC - VNC tool to remote your linux VNC session.
ConnectBot - A nice ssh tool to connect to your linux ssh session. ssk keys and port forwarding supported.
Hacker's Keyboard - A full sized touch keyboard. This is good to used with connectBot or simply replace your stock keyboard. You have the option to switch between stock and hacker's keyboard quickly. Root is required.
MirrorOP - MirrorOP can be used to send your mirror your screen to a PC or vice versa. Lags when you set the quality and resolution maximum. Root is required.
MX Player - A video player which can play almost any format or codec. Option to switch between H/W or S/W decoder.
Samba Filesharing - Access your phone/tablet sdcard, external sdcard from your pc over wireless. Root is required.
WhatsApp - Best internet messenger. Uses very little bandwidth. Not more than 1 MB/day (it may be more if share media files)
AirDroid - Good tool to access phone features and files via browser (LAN and WAN)
GL to SD - similar functionality as folder mount. Bit easier to use than folder mount
BlueVPN - This is usefull if you are using 3110 model and require internet on it while on move. If you have a phone with 3g and blutooth you can use this to share the internet of phone on tablet.
AdAway - another way to block ads as Adfree
Thanks,
Simon Mandy
I want to add AirDroid: it let´s you access your tab over wireless from your desktop browser.
You can transfer files from the tab to the desktop pc and vice versa, use both cameras, and basically access your tab data (such as the contacts, music and video and I think you can even send out sms.)

Hi, i have a P3110 (which is very similar to 3100 as you know), with cyanogen mod 10.1.3 (meaning i have 4.2.2 android version) and i can confirm that GL to SD is working (its updated and its supposed to work even at 4.3). GL to SD is a mounting application like Folder Mount but it's easier to use (you just select the app or game you want to move and press move instead of adding the paths yourself) and its free.I ve tried Folder Mount but it only lets you use 3 mounts and you cant mount obb folders unless you pay 2.5€. GL to SD requires root ofc.
Also BlueVPN [DUN client] (doesnt require root) allows your tab to connect to your mobile phone via bluetooth and shares its internet. Must have app as my tab doesnt come with a 3g modem installed and internet tethering is the only option to connect it online when i lack wifi.
Finally Adaway (requires root), same as Adfree.

[HELP] Funky Files in Download Folder, Where Are They Coming From?

Nexus 6p on project fi, running DP5, systemless rooted, systemless AdAway.
For several months now, I've been seeing some rather odd files in my downloads folder, and have been unable to find any related search results anywhere so I'm finally asking for help. They are particularly odd since they are very small plain text files written in what looks like Chinese or Korean (or at least that's how they show up on solid explorer).
Furthermore, whenever I look at these files, the last-modified date is within the last 12 hours or so. Whenever I delete them, they simply return, sometimes within hours.
The only apps that I've allowed storage permissions are the following: Avast mobile security, Google camera, cardboard, chrome, device manager, Dropbox, FlashFire, Google keyboard, Google play music, Google play services, hangouts, LIMBO demo, google messenger, new pipe (for YouTube, not from play store), Google photos, Snapchat, Snapseed, solid explorer, titanium backup, and walloid.
I know it is not new pipe, since the problem existed before that was downloaded. I can't imagine it was one of Google's apps. Does anyone know what's going on, or has anyone experienced something similar?
How can I find the origin of these files? There's nothing in the metadata that's of much(any) help. Also of note, these files only show up when viewing the downloads folder with solid explorer, as opposed to the built in one through settings.
Tl;dr: odd, persistent, small, Chinese plaintext files in download folder, need to find out where they're coming from
one way to find the culprit would be to delete the files, uninstall one app a day and see if the files are re added to your download folder. If they are, you know the uninstalled app isnt the culprit. Rinse and repeat until the files stop showing up.
