Im 100% sure now, that we will have Wm 6.1 for our x7500´s.

That also excited me .. although I'm a little in the dark about what the advantages of 6.1 are? Is it just an update, or does it have a any new features/things to actually get excited about?

Please do away with those magnets and addin a microphone. Also, I want them to use the flash disk instead of HDD

Why are you so sure?
When the infos i heard about Wm7 are trough, then we wont be able to use Mulit-Touch, Shake-feature and more :-(

Nice to know we'll have the 6.1 rom to play with soon enough. (Or rather .. I'll let others play with it and add all the goodies into some custom ROM - rom cooking is well beyond me, I wouldn't know where to start, despite an interest to )
An updated version of the keyboard was mentioned too - that isthe key layout is redesigned, but still nothing of it being backlit or anything else terribly fancy
The hard drive upgrade sounds nice, but a bit o a bugger for those of use with the current model, as far as I'm aware, it's not the easiest thing to get ahold of the current hitachi drives, let alone a 16gb version. Plus, even with the service manual, the athena is a b*tch to open

Are you sure? I have got an info, that Micr. plans to have only 2 version for Wm7: "Smarthone" - without touchscreen and "Smartphone Pocket Pc" with touchscreens. But no WM7 for non-phone-pda´s. This is a strategy from Micr. for get the marked back against the iPhone.
Thats the info i have.

I will upgrade when they put in a 64GB SSD, and do away with the stupid magnet keyboard (stick with the graffiti text input, or copy the Apple phone keyboard).
One other thing, video drivers to take advantage of the screen real estate!!!

Archos future: apps and android updates

happy new year
i want to buy an Archos 70IT
i have some questions in mind
i heard you don't have access to app market, is it true? it means you won't have acces to all apps except the apps archos offers?
and what about android updates?
should you wait for archos to release them or you can update your device ones a new version from google is released? (legal or illegal )
and about online order
they don't sell them online anylonger, is it because 70it is too good and they are out of stock or is it too bad and they canceled it?

1. Yes it doesn't come with the official Market because Google doesn't allow it on devices without telefone functionality.
But there a big thread in every archos forum about how to install the market.
2. why do you wan't to know? How man updates does the Samsung GTab offer?
3. It is constantly out of stock as it is a good bargain.
As the SDE is here there will be real custom roms.

The market is a piece of cake to install. If you can download and install an apk file, you can install the market and the other google apps.
I think we will see the device fully rooted before too long and then you will see custom ROMs. None of it is illegal unless you are using your tablet to defraud somebody lol. I am not really sure what the thinking is from Archos. The devices belong to us and we should be able to do what we want with them. I understand (but don't agree) with the thinking of locking down phones because they don't want people tethering for data (although t-mobile allows this without rooting) or mess up the phone to the point that they don't want service.

sorry i'm new to android world, i tried to download an app but it asked me for bar code. well if google doesn't allow archos so its bar code is not gonna work.
i think i need to read more about it. could you please tell me a few threads about installing apps, i myself will search too

yeah i know how to install things
i have a Nokia 5800 now and install app on it by myself but i don't know if you install android apps the same way. i find symbian apps in forums
lol no no i'm not gonna do illegal things with it. i just meant like installing new android ver or some paid apps (whistle)

MK908 vs T428

hey guys...I'm just discovering the awesome that is android stick computers and really want one. So far I like tronsmart the best. can anyone help me out though, what is the difference between the MK908 and the T428? They look pretty much the same to me except for their form factor. Also, feel free to point me in another direction if you want.

1 appearance is not the same,
MK908 is almost the same with MK808 about the appearance, there are two MICRO USB interfaces, a USB interface, it is built-in antennas and heat sink
T428 only one MINI USB interface, a USB interface,also has a heat sink, one WIFI antenna
2: the most important difference between them
T428 using AP6330 WIFI CHIPSET, MK908 using AP6210 WIFI CHIPSET, AP6330 can support the 5 Ghz wireless spectrum, AP6210 support only 2.4 Ghz
3. T428 is currently 4.2 system, MK908 is just 4.1 system, but in the near future MK908 will be upgraded to 4.2

As far as i know, netflix don't work on all of the Android 4.2 tv sticks,it's a pain,but they all can work on Android 4.1 OS, so you just need to downgrade your T428 to Android 4.1,and the Netflix will work.

I recently got the t428, a very cool device indeed. One point I might make after having bought the thing and played with it. Geekbuying claims Android 4.2 which the device definitely shipped to me with. However after looking at it a bit and doing some reading it turns out that it's actually a port of a mk808 4.2 rom and a bad one at that.
After a little more research I was able to figure out that Rockchip themselves had a stable build of Android 4.1 from sources for the thing. While flashing was a little sketchy at best once I got it done the difference in rom performance and responsiveness was remarkable. Hands down Android 4.1 was better than the inferior port it shipped with.

From everything I had read, these 2 and the CX-919 are good ones to choose from. The CX-919 has better wifi connectivity while the mk908 has 1080p playback. Cx-919 is on the same site for slightly more. Was about to buy one of those too, but decided to wait and try the mk908 first. I chose purely on pricing. The extra 30 is enough to be able to buy another toy in addition, like another bluetooth keyboard.

I've the T428 Stcik and i can say i'ts a good android computer ! However, there a some lag.. perhaps due to bad rom ?!

I have the MK908, and I would say: Don't buy it. I have overheating issues and bluetooth/wifi combination does not work properly (although I hear that is being solved by a slightly updated model).
If you are looking for an android stick that runs XBMC it is better to find an (un)officially supported android box (e.g. Pivos Xios, or MK802 III). Although older and slower in hardware, the software support looks to be so much better.

i think i will buy some Android-stick to one of my tv's. There for i ask you guys if you are happy with your sticks or are they not so good as you want them to be?

I can't seem to download the APK using Evozi's 'APK Downloader'. My Z1 Compact (on 4.4.4) and Nexus 5 (on 5.1) still have v1.7.6 from November, with no update available from the Play Store. I don't have a Nexus Player so can't look at that version (I'm in the UK but I have my Overplay SmartDNS settings set on my DD-WRT Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite to spoof Zattoo Switzerland (with Recall)).

com.zattoo.player-2.5.1-290-androidphone.apk works with Recall when I have my DD-WRT router at home configured with Overplay SmartDNS settings, and Overplay's online configuration for Zattoo set to 'Switzerland'.
As for Android TV:

Are you referring to this post from early March, when Zattoo Support suggested it would be available in the new few months?

Die Android TV App ist sehr gut umgesetzt, was aber ganz klar fehlt, ist die Recall Funktion wenn man die Sendungsdetails im Programm anschaut (wie in der Android App). Gibt es Pläne dies umzusetzen? Wäre echt super!

V1. 71 just hit the amazon Fire tv appstore, I was not able to simply upgrade, so I uninstalled and installed again.

Zattoo is not available on the Android TV app store outside of the supported regions.
If someone is living in an officially Zattoo supported region, could you please share the latest Android TV apk for Zattoo (version 1.7+)?
If your device is rooted you find the apk stored in /data/apps (you can use e.g. ES File Manager).
If your device is not rooted you can APK Extractor (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui) or use the Backup function in ES File Manager via Library --> Apps to copy APKs to your SD Card.

The dreaded day has arrived - Progress?

Built in obsolescence.
The day has arrived when I will have to ditch my Amazon Firetv 2nd gen, I have been notified by NordVPN that they will stop supporting Android 5
during April & May depending on the version of NordVPN. As the latest version that works on The Firetv is 4.12.8 I am in the unlucky category as anything above 4.12.8 is Android 6 support only.
Its been a great box to have with all the support of members here, including the release of the boot loader unlock, it seems a shame to throw a perfectly good item in the bin but I suppose that is progress.
At least I have an H96 Max+ to fall back on but the Firetv has a better picture quality and is more responsive and, lets be honest, has a certain sentimental attachment.

Don't know the specs but has it not been surpassed by even the Firesticks by now? Go pick up a 4k (not max) from Best Buy for 30 bucks, unlock & root it, etc... Do it while we still can.
