Hello, i purchased a "new" lg g2 from HK.
The device came with SU installed and had no plastic on the screen.
Also - when trying to update to kit-kat it says "device is not registered'.
Could this be a new phone? Is it fake? Or just used??
Thanks!

You could type *#06# into your dialler and the IMEI should show up. Then you can type your IMEI into this URL behind "esn=" instead of ***
Code:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=***
If it's a fake I'd guess you'd get something like this:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=AnyRandomNonG2IMEI
Code:
<response req_cmd="auth_model_check" status="FAIL"/>
If the IMEI is good that link should give you a link to the latest firmware for your particular model, like this for my D802
Code:
<sw_url>
http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW157106432109876543213/D80220F_00.kdz
</sw_url>
and you can probably flash that according to this thread to get the device to factory default and latest official update.
or at least that's what I would try

So i clicked the link from my lg g2 and got the "fail" message. Does that mean the phone is fake?? What should I do about it??
but
Then again, I Checked imei.info and got lg g2 d802....

If you put your IMEI into the URL and a fail came back I would say that means that the device you have is not in fact an LG G2.
The clickable link I posted is a counter-example of what you should get and not indicative of anything. Copy
Code:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=***
into the address bar in your browser and replace *** with your IMEI. The IMEI is the number that should show up when you type *#06# into your dialler (you can also find it under Settings>About phone>Status>IMEI).
Then hit enter and see what shows up.
Keep in mind I can't say for sure as I have never encountered that case... Maybe try to find more things that could indicate the authenticity (or lack thereof).
Check the "About phone" section in your settings, dig through the build.prop file etc (you'll find stuff if you google I'm sure)

Well there you go, now if you follow my link (plug in your IMEI first) then you can download a factory image and flash that to completely restore/update the phone
Edit: I guess that also means that the device is not new as it has at least been rooted...

So wierd, i ordered 4 phones, two work and the other 2 gives "fail" message.
They look identical in every way, software and firmware wise... could this device be stolen or just not registered as a "sold" unit at lg??

Sorry, I have to pass on this one did you check imei.info as well? maybe the site I suggested cant handle certain model variants of the G2 (there are about 8 different variants).
If you can, get the app Build Prop Editor by JRummy and search for "ro.product.model" or simply "model" and see what comes up. (Maybe use a seperate google account so you wouldn't associate your regular one with a potentially stolen device...)
or compare the info in Settings>About Phone. (just bangin' rocks together here...)
well
Phone seems to be genuine, i ran some benchmarks and cheked and compared all setting.
Only problem is it's not registered at LG for some reason.
Anyways - i don't really care about OTA updates, but can LG brick my phone or block it??
@dorlev you maybe can try to flash stock kdz or tot, it may sounds weird but who knows. As far as i hear your story the device isnt registered in the LG database. So you could contact lg support maybe about that and or check also the link from preggy with your imei. Dont post your imei here btw
THis is general thread. Post it at Q/A.

I tried downloading the program, the thing is, I only know my IMEI (which is what shows behind the battery), but I can't find my MEID or ESN (because I actually don't know what they are... is the ESN the Serial Number? Because I've read that ESNs are only for the US? I'm on Portugal Vodafone).
Anyways, when I write the IMEI and press "write", nothing happens. Then I press "Reset" at the top right, and the phone doesn't reboot.
I downloaded a Demo version of the software, but wasn't it supposed to work anyways?

Actually I read on another post that it doesn't have to be the paid version of the program. He doesn't specifically say to pay for it, he says something like "pay for it or whatever".
I now have my MEID because I found a converter, but... The program still doesn't work. I'm starting to wonder if it's because I'm on Windows 8...
I would also like to add that I was on 4.2.2, did a Nandroid Backup, but then had to flash 4.3 because I couldn't find a 4.2.2 ROM on samfirmware (since it only shows me the latest one).
Anyways, on this 4.3 ROM I can't restore my Nandroid Backup. It just bootloops. Ideas?
PROBLEM FIXED.
Unfortunately what I did might not be of help for anyone with the same problem. But here it goes:
Like I said, I was on 4.2.2 originally. But since I couldn't find a 4.2.2 official firmware, I had to download a 4.3 stock one. I flashed it once -- still the same problem. Tried flashing another ROM -- still the same problem. BUT THEN, I flashed the 4.3 stock ROM again, and it just worked! IDK what happened.
Anyways, hope someone can get the same results as me!
Model - LG - G2 (32gb) black KDZ my imei is matched with csmgdl.lgmobile(dot)com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW890995432109876543213/D80220C_00.kdz .
I recently bricked my phone and had no recover/download mode. I flashed the kdz via flash tools 2014 and noticed my touch wasn't working. I'm wondering if it's software or hardware. It also doesn't work in TWRP recovery . I also did a recover with LG mobile support tool . The touch presses multiple points on the screen and is very inaccurate requiring a mouse using usb-micro usb adapter. I searched this topic and found multiple people with same problem after flashing firmware but the thread's are dead ends. In settings it doesn't show my imei, phone details or broadband .and it seems to not recognize my sim (says service disabled). -Haven't tried fixing my service problem yet as i was focusing on my touch problem. I also entered the service menu (3845#*802#) and pressed update touch firmware with no progress.

I used LG's tool to find out - csmg.lgmobile(dot)com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=your_imei It may not be correct as the kdz has chinese applications (baidu, weibo) and no google play, chrome, maps. edit - And my phone says i have 16gb so i'm guessing it's not correct. Tried it already but serial number doesn't show anything . CSMG automatically filled in serial number form with a 13 digital msn number but the box sticker has a 12 digital Serial number. I pm'ed you my imei number and serial .
I do have access to download mode and did try flashing several open kdz's.
My friend bought a new LG G2 and wanted a custom rom. He tried to flash a custom recovery tool through fastboot but did not unlocked the bootloader. After this the phone booted up in recovery and showed a couple of error messages. He reflashed all of the partitions of the phone and restarted it, put the official firmware but to his surprise his touchscreen was a mess, everything he clicked on was offset by 50 to 200 pixels, and its all scrambled up. He tried flashing custom roms, official roms but is the same, even in TWRP the same problem with the LCD panel. Now the phone has SlimKat and I could activate the feedback of the touches, it's incredible, I can't understand it.
Can someone tell me where the driver for the touch is, or what to repair in order the have the screen control back. I have uploaded some images of the touches feedback.

Yep, he and I flashed I bunch of times the official rom but nothing changed. I think it has something to do with the boot are aboot partition, there is where the kernel is booted up and there is our problem, but I need someone more good at the low level arhitecture to guide me through. I repeat the same problem hapens when you go in to recovery.

Question regarding model
Ok, I found something very weird, at this point I really dont know if the phone is a g2 D802 or D800. I've taken the back cover of the phone and found that on the back is a d800, the back cover of the phone states that is a d802, but when I check the imei using a website imei info it says its a d800. The D800 is for AT&T and the D802 is the international one, what is going on here...I am confused...
I smell something fishy as well. Perhaps the phone has been opened before and the rear cover was replaced. Make sure you are usuing the D800 firmware and modem baseband firmware.
Flash both of those and see what happens!
Ok. Im not even exactly sure where to start but im pretty sure someone tried to install a different rom on it and had no idea what they were doing. Here is what i know about the phone.
Galaxy S5
SM-G900F
G900F GSMH
Issues :
IMEI does not exist on the phone.
Volume down does not work (Cannot boot into recovery) I think its a firmware issue and not hardware (IE: the button works, but not detected, could be wrong)
SD Card not detected
Cannot connect to a PC to use ODIN (Doesn't detect it)
Dialer codes do not work, i think it has to do with the IMEI
Ok when i first got it i tried some program called EFS Backup and that is the only program i have got to interact with the phone (It restarted it, lol), also tried ADB, dont know much about it but tried to use it to boot into recovery.
It rebooted it.
Um. not really sure what else to include. Tell me and ill add it. ANY advice would be appreciated.
Of course my goal is to be able to activate and use the phone and install its original IMEI back on it. I know it will take quite a few steps but ANY help would be great.
You can boot into the phone right? Look in settings/general for developer options. If it isn't there scroll down to about phone. Click on baseband version until developer options are enabled and go in and make sure USB Debugging is turned on. That may be why Odin isn't recognizing the phone. It's worth a shot.
---------- Post added at 10:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:46 AM ----------
Actually I think it might be build number that you need to click on multiple times.
You can buy a jig from eBay , just search eBay for "galaxy s5 jig" I've done this on all my galaxy phones, but haven't tried it on my s5 since it's still behaving well. While phone is off, with the battery inserted, connect the jig for a couple of seconds and it will immediately boot the phone straight in the download mode.
Thats not real samsung s5, its a clone, like hdc s5 legend
If it is a clone then nothing on this site will do you any good.
Its easy to restore imei for mtk phone, no big deal
I've never done, all I know is that most programs and files here won't do any good on a clone.
Some answers to the help. Thanks!
Ok.
Metalfan78, i have tried that, but thanks for the advice.
Commodore 64, i looked into that, saw one for 5 bucks. I will probably order one to see if it works.
DaanIt, how can you tell a real Galaxy s5 vs a clone? i would love to know and would love to know whether this is real or not.

LOL. i can edit the model number! I'm going to assume its not but i must ask anyway.. can anyone else edit that or just me? Also. How can i view the actual hardware specs in this phone to really see if its fake? it wouldnt have the exact processor and stuff in it would it?
Get an app called 'CPU Z'........
For my official 900F, it returns this information.......
If you can't get on to playstore, here's a link to the app from my Dropbox (don't worry, the app is free, so it's NOT warez)......
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jumgfr0n41v70lr/CPU_Z.zip?dl=0
Download it to pc/laptop, extract it (it's in a zip) copy it to a micro sd card, put the card in the phone and 'sideload' the app.....
i really think its fake. the main part of the phone i look at to tell its fake from the outside is the flash, if you see your flash it is a weird square orange flash. on other real Samsung phones the flash is a clear and little bit of orange inside. But its a very nice clone, if you want a note4 clone i can show you wear to buy one.
Install universal mtk drivers, use 'Mobileuncle mtk tools' from market for imei repair, use 'mtkdroidtools' for phone root, backup, etc.
Its easy to spot fake, clone led flash is different. Just compare it

U cannot edit the model number and simply use CPU-Z to find the truth
Ok so I'm not sure where to put this thread and please forgive my bad grammar and punctuation if I have any. I already read some threads on this forum about a problem like mine and tried to follow the instructions to get back into my phone, but none of it worked so....
I have a Samsung Go Prime that I bought from Wal-Mart for around $100. I rooted it, and got the message "unauthorized software has been found on your phone, please take it to nearest AT&T etc etc". So I did just that, took it to AT&T, called up Samsung customer care on the phone, and took the phone to some sort of Samsung representative or worker person in Best Buy and nobody seems to be able to help me. I downloaded Odin and Philz Touch and tried to flash that and I kept getting Nand fail. I tried Kies and evidently Sammobile website doesn't seem to have the firmware I need either.
Somebody plleeeaassee help me. I had to pay another $100 just to get another phone so now I feel like I wasted $100 for a phone that wont work now. Maybe I didn't use Odin or Philz Touch firmware properly or didn't follow a certain instruction correctly at some point?
Any help would be massively appreciated.

I tried that and after clicking for it to start it again said something like "please check the serial number" etc like I put in the incorrect number. I'm pretty sure what I put in was the correct serial number. It was on the sticker under the battery....
model: SM-G530A
SN: R28H30GVPCN
I'm pretty sure your phone is bricked, nand fail was the superbrick error on the i9100 (Galaxy S2 Int) if I'm remembering correctly.
If I'm right, sorry man :/
Anybody know how to fix the nand fail? Anything I can flash to fix it?
When I tried to flash Philz Touch I read in one of the threads that I had to do something like putting the file in some kind of folder (might have been called tar tool) and click a certain batch.bat file. i tried that and nothing happened, so I just loaded the Philz Touch file directly into Odin.
Did I make a mistake somewhere? Is there anything at all that I can do to fix this? If not, then how and where would I find the contact info and address of the manufacturer so I can send the phone in for fixing?
