Ok. Im not even exactly sure where to start but im pretty sure someone tried to install a different rom on it and had no idea what they were doing. Here is what i know about the phone.
Galaxy S5
SM-G900F
G900F GSMH
Issues :
IMEI does not exist on the phone.
Volume down does not work (Cannot boot into recovery) I think its a firmware issue and not hardware (IE: the button works, but not detected, could be wrong)
SD Card not detected
Cannot connect to a PC to use ODIN (Doesn't detect it)
Dialer codes do not work, i think it has to do with the IMEI
Ok when i first got it i tried some program called EFS Backup and that is the only program i have got to interact with the phone (It restarted it, lol), also tried ADB, dont know much about it but tried to use it to boot into recovery.
It rebooted it.
Um. not really sure what else to include. Tell me and ill add it. ANY advice would be appreciated.
Of course my goal is to be able to activate and use the phone and install its original IMEI back on it. I know it will take quite a few steps but ANY help would be great.
You can boot into the phone right? Look in settings/general for developer options. If it isn't there scroll down to about phone. Click on baseband version until developer options are enabled and go in and make sure USB Debugging is turned on. That may be why Odin isn't recognizing the phone. It's worth a shot.

Actually I think it might be build number that you need to click on multiple times.
You can buy a jig from eBay , just search eBay for "galaxy s5 jig" I've done this on all my galaxy phones, but haven't tried it on my s5 since it's still behaving well. While phone is off, with the battery inserted, connect the jig for a couple of seconds and it will immediately boot the phone straight in the download mode.
Thats not real samsung s5, its a clone, like hdc s5 legend
If it is a clone then nothing on this site will do you any good.
Its easy to restore imei for mtk phone, no big deal
I've never done, all I know is that most programs and files here won't do any good on a clone.
Some answers to the help. Thanks!
Ok.
Metalfan78, i have tried that, but thanks for the advice.
Commodore 64, i looked into that, saw one for 5 bucks. I will probably order one to see if it works.
DaanIt, how can you tell a real Galaxy s5 vs a clone? i would love to know and would love to know whether this is real or not.

LOL. i can edit the model number! I'm going to assume its not but i must ask anyway.. can anyone else edit that or just me? Also. How can i view the actual hardware specs in this phone to really see if its fake? it wouldnt have the exact processor and stuff in it would it?
Get an app called 'CPU Z'........
For my official 900F, it returns this information.......
If you can't get on to playstore, here's a link to the app from my Dropbox (don't worry, the app is free, so it's NOT warez)......
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jumgfr0n41v70lr/CPU_Z.zip?dl=0
Download it to pc/laptop, extract it (it's in a zip) copy it to a micro sd card, put the card in the phone and 'sideload' the app.....
i really think its fake. the main part of the phone i look at to tell its fake from the outside is the flash, if you see your flash it is a weird square orange flash. on other real Samsung phones the flash is a clear and little bit of orange inside. But its a very nice clone, if you want a note4 clone i can show you wear to buy one.
Install universal mtk drivers, use 'Mobileuncle mtk tools' from market for imei repair, use 'mtkdroidtools' for phone root, backup, etc.
Its easy to spot fake, clone led flash is different. Just compare it

Hello All,
I am having some issues here and the normally helpful Search feature isn't getting me anywhere today. I just bought an i9500 which was previously used on Tmobile. It is running 4.2.2 and was confirmed working just prior to me purchasing it. The problems began when I inserted my modified Straight Talk Sim card (which was being used in an Iphone 3gs prior and was cut to fit the S4). The phone recognizes the SIM but does not connect to a network. I tried all the recommended APN settings with no success. The SIM does seem to be unlocked because I can change APN settings.
That got me thinking that maybe I should make sure the phone is rooted before I trouble shoot any further. I tried to put the phone into Download Mode and use ODBIN to flash CW Recovery but without success. Hitting the Volume Down + Home Button (Middle Button) + Power Button takes me to a Factory Mode screen. That screen is un-readble to me as it seems to be in Korean or Chinese (my guess is Korean). I am able to get the phone into Recovery Mode using Volume Up + Power Button however.
Also, after installing the drivers and install Kies, nothing including ODBIn recognizes the phone. When I check in Device Manager (I am running Windows 7 64bit) everything except CDC Serial is installed correctly.
Questions:
- Is there another way to enter Download Mode
- Am I overlooking a step to get the computer to recognize the phone
- Is there something in particular when putting in the APN settings I must not forget to do?
Things Already Tried
Factory / Data Wipe
Clear Cache
Reboot Phone
Reboot Computer
Unistall / Reinstall Drivers
Different USB Cords and USB Locations on Computer
Use Recovery Mode to Update system with a Custom ROM
Any help or troubleshooting advice you can lend would be greatly appreciated.

You have bought a fake, but extremely good chinese copy of the Galaxy S4.
There's a lot around and the thing that gives them away is not having download mode.
I would get a refund ASAP mate.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure that it is so easy to write off as a knock off. I also called Samsung who ran the IMEI and Serial and informed me that the phone was from Africa. (Even gave me the correct customer support number to call, albeit overseas) When I check the firmware version that also checks out. Also the writing in factory mode is almost surely Korean. At best we would have to call it a really incredible clone, but I doubt it.
Oh right well if Samsung ran the IMEI number and said it was official it could be You can put an EMEI number on a phone yourself though. That seems a bit far fetched to me though!
So weird that you can't enter download mode though.
Can you post a screen shot of the 'about phone' screen in settings?
And maybe download Antutu and check the system info on there mate

Everything passed except is say Hardware scan:reject But it got a benchmark score of 12687. If this is a clone or fake, it might as well be real (of course it would be better if it had a download mode!)

maybe it is an official Samsung phone, just has some dodgy hardware that needs replacing... and if i am not mistaken that missing device driver only installs when the phone is put into download mode, mine took a while to search windows update site for a driver even though Kies was installed.

Fortunately you cannot enter in download mode, because if you could, you would brick your phone trying to flash a rom from a device into a rather different device.

anyone found a solution to this?
Any Updates anyone
Hi Everyone,
Anyone has an update to solve this issue
If you can boot into /system, what´s the result of entering *#1234# into the dialler?
Do you run with stock or custom recovery?
When you install Kies, you don´t need to install any other drivers as they already come with Kies. If I understood correctly, you cut a mini-SIM so it fits the micro-SIM slot of the S4, right? Perhaps you need to go to your network provider and have the card changed for a newer one.
I have the same phone and there is a way to come in to the recovery menu. Hold down the Volume Up + Home + Power button then you get a reply of the green robot and the NO COMMAND, If you press the Home button again then the recovery menu opens.
If you want to ROOT this phone use the KINGO Android root program, its FREE , and its works fine.....

well, here's my experience with knockoffs, if you called samsung about the phone and they can tell you the original carrier of the s4, then its a real one, if it just shows up in their system as a phone, then 8/10 times its a fake, so just ask about the carrier specific of the phone first

if it's a fake, then it is impossible (unless there is a way that i don't know) to get into download mode yet alone download a firmware. I have been scammed many times, so I say this out of experience

Mate you cannot do anything to flash an original firmware.
The hardware limitations wont let you.
If it is a clone, it shall run only the clone software.
Nothing more..

Hi
I don't know if you've fixed your issue with your g900v or not, but i have the same problem and the same phone and obviously the same symptoms ...
As far as I've tried, nothing worked not ODIN flashing ROMs, or QPST to write IMEI or EFS professtiona ADB .... etc.
What I've come to know is this :
1- keep the phone in a safe place till next months reveal a solution through developers here or elsewhere.
2- Flash the Original Samsung Verizon Rom ( Full Package with efs and bootloader mounts and all partitions " Clean Flash" ) which costs about 100$ .
3- Change the board for a (200$) new one .
So, I would try to pay the 100$ and flash the original ROM, and comeback to tell if it solved the Problem.
I wish if you share any different approach or feedback . I would love to hear it .
Bye
It could possibly be that your EFS folder is damaged. This is where your IMEI and Baseband info is stored. If that's the case for your device, these steps should work. I've done this on two phones (one being an S5) and it fixed this problem.
I'm assuming that you're rooted. If not then you'll need to root your device first. And you need to have debugging enabled. What this does is backups the files from the EFS folder, repairs the partition tables, then restores the files to the repaired folder.
1. Connect the phone to your computer. (Windows)
2. Download this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v2h5dzisjd0rgj5/EFS_Professional_2.1.73_Release.zip?dl=0
3. Extract and run the program
4. Click EFS Professional... It will open a window showing that it found your phone
5. Click on the Backup Tab and make sure all of the partitions are checked, and your Device Filter is recognized
6. Hit the Backup button to backup the EFS folder
7. After that's done, click the Restore button and it will restore your files to the EFS folder.
I hope this helps you.
There used to be a tool for the Note 2 I believe, maybe S4, that would let you re-write your EFS if it accidentally got erased. Not a backup/restore deal, but a tool to key in your IMEI and it would write it to the phone. Maybe research that tool for a fix?

Was it a tool specifically for the Note 2, or multiple Samsung devices, or maybe a universal program like CDMA Workshop? I love that program. It's what I use when it comes to actually entirely rewriting files like this. Most of the time a full rewrite isn't needed though if the EFS folder has just been damaged. Which "damaged" is totally the wrong word here, but that's what it's called for some reason. I really don't even know how it happens, but I do know when it does, it usually just jumbles and/or fragments the info in the folder and needs to be put back in it's correct order. Kind of like defragging in Windows. Just a tool like you're talking about would definitely be cool for me to have though. I shall start my quest to find it. Lol
Please some help
Any luck yet ???
Got the same issue here, and none of the threads here worked .
Same problem
Hello,
I have the exact same problem. I bought the phone here in Mexico, and the phone came with erased EFS folder. Phone restarts automatically when screen turns off. When I'm using the phone, it works just fine, but some seconds after screen goes off, phone restarts automatically. EFS folder is messed up, I've tried out a lot EFS restoring tools with no luck.
I tried QPST but it does not detect the phone, only appears "?" and "No phone" blinking. The same happens with DFS Tool.
I will try to look for that tool joshw0000 talks about.
I hope we can find out a solution for this excellent phone.
Bye.
Hey ...
I did a factory reset and cache wipe, and now the phone stopped restarting when the screen goes off, but still got the "Unknown" issues.
But at least I got rid of the annoying restarts.
570 ppl read this and still no answer, I got to admit ... it's tough.

The Core Prime will not boot into recovery, or safe mode, or to the home screen. The only way to sometimes get it into download mode is leave it plugged into the wall charger for a couple minutes, then it will SOMETIMES go into download mode to charge. Holding down every combination of keys does not work, please don't suggest holding down keys.
All I ever see is a mmc confirmation fail movinand checksum confirmation fail error no matter what I try. I never see the Samsung intro, boot intro, or tracfone intro anymore, just a black screen that leads to that error message in red letters.
Regardless of which computer or cable I use, Windows never sees the phone. Doesn't try to install the drivers, doesn't make a sound that something was plugged in, nothing shows up in device manager, nothing (even in download mode)
I called 800 Samsung (4 times asking the same thing to different people to make sure I didn't just get helped by a noob over the phone). I went and talked to the Samsung guys inside worst buy (didn't do anything except informing me there is a Samsung store in LA). I called the Samsung store in LA and talked to a technician and the technician supervisor (I could drive there if their answer wasn't factory reset)
But EVERYONE from Samsung is saying all that can be done is factory reset.
I do not need a factory reset. I need my data.
I have posted numerous threads, and even though there was good advice given, none of it worked.
All I did before this error was try to update Google maps. The phone has never been backed up/rooted/nothing its stock.
At this point, I'm willing to negotiate paying someone to get my data back.
Someone please help.

else flash custom recovery (you can find one in cyanogen discussion) and launch aroma file manager pull out your data so you're safe to reset ?? hope to be helped you .

If your phone is still stuck, flash TWRP (google it if you don't know it) for s820l. After TWRP is installed backup your data to your Internal or External Storage. Once the backup is complete factory reset (I highly suggest bakcking up to an SD card) if it still only boots to this screen try flashing the Stock ROM.
If your phone is messed up after the factory reset, i suggest SD card for files and everything if your computer has an SD adapter and reader you won't need to turn the device on. Hopefully this fixes it for you.
P.S. By no means do I know exactly what I'm doing, I flashed the wrong TWRP for mine and only got a download screen. This is the method i used to fix it. Also i am not allowed to post links or I would. so google sm-s820l custom recovery and to get a Stock ROM. Above the page for it should be a bunch of tabs that look like this " Android Area 51 > Forum > Straight Talk/Net10 > Samsung Phones > Samsung Galaxy Core Prime > Recovery Releases" Click on Samsung GCP and then your all set. Hope this helps.

True so if it's not the SM-S820L just input your model number instead of the one I posted that was my bad I assumed TracFone. Also don't think just because the phone is the same they will all work if you do use the wrong TWRP or ROM because the model is different it will brick your device. Again it was my mistake but overall I hope this helps.

Never mind i just wanted to share info. + mine reply was before twrp or cwm being ported to core prime ,and at this time no custom roms for 360* Models
Is TWRP ported to other versions of this phone? It seems like it is atleast the VE one has it and my TracFone version does I'm sure most of the others ones do and you also do not need a Custom ROM just a stock one which is probably floating around out there somewhere. For the OPs phone which if the model was posted this would be a billion times easier. So Mr. OP please post your model for us to help if your issue is still happening.

Ok so I'm not sure where to put this thread and please forgive my bad grammar and punctuation if I have any. I already read some threads on this forum about a problem like mine and tried to follow the instructions to get back into my phone, but none of it worked so....
I have a Samsung Go Prime that I bought from Wal-Mart for around $100. I rooted it, and got the message "unauthorized software has been found on your phone, please take it to nearest AT&T etc etc". So I did just that, took it to AT&T, called up Samsung customer care on the phone, and took the phone to some sort of Samsung representative or worker person in Best Buy and nobody seems to be able to help me. I downloaded Odin and Philz Touch and tried to flash that and I kept getting Nand fail. I tried Kies and evidently Sammobile website doesn't seem to have the firmware I need either.
Somebody plleeeaassee help me. I had to pay another $100 just to get another phone so now I feel like I wasted $100 for a phone that wont work now. Maybe I didn't use Odin or Philz Touch firmware properly or didn't follow a certain instruction correctly at some point?
Any help would be massively appreciated.
Kies does work, just go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation and enter the serial number, its gonna say not supported but it works Ive done it

I tried that and after clicking for it to start it again said something like "please check the serial number" etc like I put in the incorrect number. I'm pretty sure what I put in was the correct serial number. It was on the sticker under the battery....

I'm pretty sure your phone is bricked, nand fail was the superbrick error on the i9100 (Galaxy S2 Int) if I'm remembering correctly.
If I'm right, sorry man :/
Anybody know how to fix the nand fail? Anything I can flash to fix it?
When I tried to flash Philz Touch I read in one of the threads that I had to do something like putting the file in some kind of folder (might have been called tar tool) and click a certain batch.bat file. i tried that and nothing happened, so I just loaded the Philz Touch file directly into Odin.
Did I make a mistake somewhere? Is there anything at all that I can do to fix this? If not, then how and where would I find the contact info and address of the manufacturer so I can send the phone in for fixing?
First of all, thank you in advance for helping me!
I got an GT-I9505 for free because the guy didn't want it anymore, but there's a problem.
It's flashed with the rom of another S4 model, SGH-I337. Because of that some things don't work really well (WiFi don't work at all)
Trying to flash the correct rom with Odin, or with the rom on SD in the recovery menu, both fails.
Someone can give me some directions on this? I would really appreciate!
Thank you all!
Use the original cable and the rear USB ports.
Try every Windows and Odin version possible.
Flashing a stock ROM through the original recovery is not possible.
Boot into download mode and confirm that the model # is gt-i9505. What is the Odin error?
It shows "START [224, 1440]" in download mode, and Odin says "Can't open the specified file".
Yes, I have admin rights, the file is on a folder located on C:\stuff\, yes I have redownloaded the file, and shows the same error.
Boot into download mode and confirm that the model # is gt-i9505. What is the Odin error?

No point doing that, as I said it's flashed with the rom of a different model. In download mode shows SGH-I337 but thats incorrect. Behind the battery says i9505 and i'm pretty sure that it's correct, since it's the model sold on my country.
Thank you all!
-edit-
I managed to install ClockWorkMod using Odin to see if I could install it from there, but no luck...

You're wrong.
That sticker can be easily replaced. You can put the sticker of an S7 on it, but that doesn't make an S7, does it?
Anyway, download mode is not affected in any way, shape or form, by a software change.
If download mode says it's that model, then it sure as hell is.

I had seen the phone before the guy that gave me mess it up.
It was I9505.
-edit-
I think I started to understand what is going on here...
Right now I noticed a really really small sticker that says "Serviço Técnico" (Technical Service) like a small warranty...
I think someone repaired this thing and replaced the main board! Is that possible...?

Yes, it is possible.
As I said, no matter how many times you change the software, the model in download mode will not change.
Download mode is hard-coded. I'm pretty sure it's not possible (or very very hard) to change the info displayed there. So if it says it's a I337, then it is a I337.
Info in "About phone" or stickers can be easily changed or replaced with something else.
Looks like the phone is an i337 as I suspected which means you will need to flash the i337 rom via Odin or flash fire, depending on whether the bootloader is locked.

He already has the correct ROM. He says it's a GT-I9505 flashed with a I337 ROM.
But download mode says it's a I337. So it means he has the correct ROM.
If the phone is flashed with the correct at&t rom, the wifi should work. The wifi may need a complete reflash to work or the wifi chip defective.
Thank you all for your time. How can I mark this as resolved?
I don't think you can. But you can change the title and add "Solved" to it or something.
