[Q] Knox equivalent app/ restoring knox functionality after ROOT - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I recently rooted my n9005. I was aware that knox will be malfunctioning but without checking that before I guessed that there would be plenty of similar apps on play store. I did a bit of research and I havent found anything even close to knox. Functionality I am looking for is using 2 profiles. First will be with some access restrictions to photos documents etc and second password or symbol protected will be fully open. Key feature is separating those 2 "accounts" with 2 different desktops like in knox.
I am running stock 4.4.2 and would prefer to leave it this way(unless custom rom would be only option)
Any1 got any idea how to solve this?

I did some research but still I've found only software that merges f.ex. contacts mails and documents in 1 encrypted app but nothing fiting my needs. Anyone else could help? I wont believe such problem is left unsolved.

Show hidden apps back on Android 4.4.2

Ever since I upgraded my unlocked S4 (GT-I9505) to 4.4.2 I've been experiencing notable firmware bugs. Some of them are a little less annoying or they just affect one of my apps and I can live with it.
But some are a real pain in the a**.
For example, back on 4.3. I used to hide apps from the grid inside the apps list to clear it up a little bit. If I ever needed to put them back in there, I just had to uncheck them. But with 4.4.2 the option to hide apps is gone... and consequently, there's no option to unhide apps either. So now, I find myself missing apps that I have installed and that I can't add to my homescreen for example, because I can't drag them there from anywhere. I know that I can use apps such as ES File Explorer to create shortcuts on my desktop, but this is just a workaround using a third party app. I'd like to know if there's an actual fix for this.
Also, I've noticed some apps won't boot at start up like they used to. Although this might have to do with the app needing to be updated.
In case this info is needed... My phone is not rooted and I'm using TouchWiz as my launcher.

[Q] Newb questions to N9005 and Android

I'm finally receiving my N9005 in the next days, yet I've been using a legacy Nokia N900 with Maemo OS the predecessor of MeeGo OS (Nokia's and Intel's failed mobile/tablet OS).
What would you suggest me to do while I'm new to Android? I want to have as much control as possible over the system and data sent.
Things I'd like to have/do:
- a privacy framework like xprivacy
- uninstall bloatware from stock OS
- getting rid of most Google stuff except its cloud messaging service (for Threema)
- a secure email app/client
- a secure browser
From what I've read yet this seems impossible without rooting the device and risk to toggle Knox to 0x1.
To use the Google cloud messaging service I have to have a Google account and be logged in, no?
Sending fake IMEI, device type, etc. would be done by xprivacy.
Thanks a lot!
Maybe this ?

Thanks for the welcome video!
Let me refine my question with the obvious: I've searched the forum before I posted.
- a privacy framework like xprivacy ...there are SRT AppGuard, App Ops, LBE, PDroid (Open Source version development stopped), +Droidwall as addition, etc. - the best ones need root!
- uninstall bloatware from stock OS ...there is
[USER-CHOICE][AROMA][BLOATWARE REMOVER TOOL][DESIGN YOUR ROM][SM-N900] - needs root!
- getting rid of most Google stuff except its cloud messaging service (for Threema) ...I could strip a ROM from Google apps or go FOSS and just install the needed GApps - do I have those skills yet? No, see OT - that's why I'm asking for easier ways possible.
- a secure email app/client ...the most favoured ones like K-9 (with AGP), Aqua Mail, etc.
- a secure browser ...there are lots of flavors around, most prominent are Dolphin, Chrome, Opera, Firefox or Orweb+Orbot for Tor
What I'm asking for is experience I don't have with the Android system yet.
Where else to look this up? If splitting up every point and open a new topic/reply in its corresponding thread is the way to go, tell me pls.
The first three points I've asked are all related to rooting and custom ROMs. The latest entries in the respective threads are showing mixed results, especially with latest KitKat release.
Regarding the last two points about email clients and browsers it's again about experience of advanced users with those apps I like to partake in.
Answering the original implicit question/statement "From what I've read yet this seems impossible without rooting the device and risk to toggle Knox to 0x1" would surely take the same time as posting the video link.
Thanks
The thread title stated my newbieness, instead of posting a video with the forum rules it would be more helpful to get into the questions and contribute to the thread for other users looking up such topics (I did). I'm here to learn, learning by doing and getting a Knox 0x1 ain't productive

How to use KNOX?

Still I never used knox and never tried that, I read its details but didn’t clear the whole thing. Today I tried that but doesn’t make sense at all. I wanted to use another whatsapp account without deleting the current one so thought to see knox if its help.
I heard it’s a separate mode and encrypted secured etc. But is it like a VM like we have in PC? Like another Virtual system? I don’t know how its work. Can I use both the Knock and the main system at the same time?
Like say I’ve skype online on the phone and then I open knock, the skype will still running in the main system and I can do work inside knox?
Today I clicked the knox shortcut and after the password process it says you can recover pass from this email and after that screen it restart. When it done I click on the knox icon and it show uninstalled and then the regular icon turned into shortcut again. Done make sense.

[Q] Samsung My Knox

Hello to all,
I have quite recently got second hand Galaxy S5, which has Knox 0x1. I am not worried about warranty, but I would like to use Samsung My Knox.
As I have read, it is impossible to have it running on this device, but is there any application, even pay, like this? I tried some of them (FingerSecurity, ...) but neither they don't use fingerscanner nor hidding application from listing.
Do you know some app, please?
Thank you and greetings from Czech
Finger security only block access in apps for pictures, music, voice recording, video, files use private mode to hide
But that is what I would like to have, to block access for some apps but also, that these apps will not be generally visible. Lets say to have a "private mode" also for apps.
(btw. maybe I have explaned it in wrong way, I am sorry, not an English native speaker)

Rooting: why bother?

Managed to flash recovery and root YB after a lot of frustration. Question now is: Why bother? Cannot delete the Lenovo/Google junk - which is the main reason I root devices. Installed only one app that requires root so far - Adaway - only to have the YB hang for a while during every operation.
Bought the YB out of curiosity only. Find I dislike Lenovo intensely (not alone in this). The YB is in many ways just a gimmick. The fancy hinge is not required on such a light device - it's just a selling point; money would have been better spent on an improved CPU or camera (which is useless). Keyboard is handy, but I find my Note5 serves me just as well (besides being a vastly better device on all fronts). I don't expect anyone will even try to develop a custom ROM for the YB.
Anyway, will fiddle with the YB some more and then give it away to someone hereabouts. If I am missing something about rooting the YB, please let me know.
seems like you should try a little bit harder...just becasue you don't know how to deal with it, it doesn't mean that it isn't possible stock apps can be deleted, at least with help of some third party apps (e.g. titanium) that require root (i personally got rid of those google docs apps, chrome browser, lenovo intro, etc...)
what were your problems with rooting? by now, I went back to stock via backup three times (for several reasons) and rooted it again, which sums up to four times rooting without any hiccups.

Actually used titanium to try to remove junk apps. First time ever with this problem. Even tried to delete the apks directly using es file manager. Cannot so far find out what is preventing their removal (titanium reports them uninstalled, while es reports operation failed).
Root. Posted elsewhere on this. Rooting in itself is not a problem. In fact, I intend restoring stock to see if that will get rid of the hangs that are occurring. As matters stand for me at the moment, I really have no use for root.
See a 12" YB is on offer now. Looks as though the 10" version is history already - but I suspect it will remain a curiosity for a while yet.

of course i can help you:
GUIDE - HOW TO GET ALONG ON XDA [noob-friendly]
1st: USE SEARCH (eg. 'root yoga tab 2')!!! it is really easy! 3rd entry should do the trick.
2nd: reading skills are also very helpful: if i remeber correctly, there's kind of a 'how xda works' when you register...it's quite useful, especially if you want to get along without trouble in the future.
hope it works!!!
