LG G2 best image/audio/video quality (bitrate) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i would like to know, how to get the best of my camera, i'm using this rom but i want 40 mb bitrate for the shooting camera, jpg quality to max, and audio to 256kbs, instead of 120/150 kbs, also EIS, along with OIS. I'm on Cloudy G3 1.3
What mods do you guys recommend to me? is there any one which include all of this, so i can avoid installing tons of stuff? i read cloudy G3 1.3 has updated camera binaries but it doesn't states what does that means. Thanks alot.

Anyone? thanks.

Improving the camera quality on CM11 G2

I'm running CM11 M3 on my G2. The one thing I miss from LG's stock ROM is the quality of pictures from the LC camera app. The kitkat camera app baked into CM11 has pretty average picture quality.
Is there anything I can do to improve the camera quality? I've tried installing an APK of the camera app someone extracted from the G2 rom but it seems to be an older version, there are some modes that crash and the quality isn't as good as the lg stock camera app.
I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about a camera app or some other tweaks/threads that talk about this stuff. If I can improve the camera quality on the CM11 G2 it would be awesome.

[Q] Camera performance after Jishnu/xdabebb mod?

Hi all, I 've been thinking of buying a new phone & I really like the g2 very much but the only thing that is stopping me is the camera performance.
Can someone please tell me after the Jishu/xdadebb mod how is the camera performance under low light, how is the autofocus in low light also is the continuous autofocus in the video problem resolved. How much is the shutter lag after the mod.
I really want to buy this device for the camera & its under my budget if the camera ain't good enough even after the mods I may go with oppo find 7a/oneplus one which are in the same budget but have better camera.
I dont capture my photos in low light. But the camera is pretty amazing with xdadebb mod, and Mi2Raw enables the G2 to capture raw footage as well.
The G2 and G3 has the same camera sensor, just that the G3 has a Z-Axis image stabiliser and laser autofocus. So if I were you, I'll go look at those camera comparisons on review sites comparing the G3, OnePlus One and the Oppo.
Edit: Video performance is pretty good too. xdadebb camera mod allows for tap to focus in video to focus your subject and it works well. It has object tracking too!
Edit 2: With dorimanx's kernel, I was able to turn down the mic gain when I was at a concert. That + the stereo recording = pretty awesome recording
Thanks @lowjinyik.
Anyone else using these mods please comment about the low light performace after the mod.
I haven't tried taking pictures in low-light conditions yet, I should, will do and compare later but under bright, sunshine outdoor, with Normal mode, I see virtually no difference in term of performance and image quality. There are several features that I haven't tried out yet.

The low light camera quality is good. The mod makes very little difference to low light pictures.
Thanks guys for your responses. I think I might go with oppo find7. It's better than the g2 in every aspect except battery life & OS updates. Which can be taken care by the VOOC charger & custom roms respectively.

Stock 4.4.2 G2 - Video problems

Hi guys, brand new G2 D802 owner here Still stock & unrooted, but I've already noticed there are some camera mods. Still quality is pretty good, but the video... umm, I mean it's not bad, but the fps drops are just so bad! No matter in what resolution or at what fps I record, at darker places the fps drops pretty badly. Kind of helped switching to 60fps, record a second, switch back to 30fps and there are no framedrops! Even though the scene is pretty dark, but the fps is constant. But on the other hand, sometimes you need to record darker places, even if there are fps drops, so it's kind of uncomfortable.
Second problem - the video audio is pretty quiet. The quality is really nice (in comparison with the G Pad's horrible audio recording quality), but it seems pretty quiet. With stock Camera app and the XCam too.

You can try to root your phone, use XCam with Advance Driver.

If you are currently using a rom that has the advanced driver (ask in your rom's thread, not here) you will choose the 3rd link.

Well, I'm fully stock, just rooted.
//
I've tryed the advanced XCam on my stock rooted rom and haven't noticed anything (even though this advanced one isn't working well because UHD videos have terribly low bitrate and definitely aren't UHD). The stills are good quality, but the video is just meh... I really hate that fps drop while the camera switches to high exposure.
Or maybe if you could recommend me the best camera apps / mods for best video and stills... I've heard Jishnu's Camera V3.5 is great, but I can't find a single download link and it's thread is closed a long time.
//Sorry for DP

Or, If You want to keep yourself stock you can just try Xcam from here. Much better than Stock camera and enables RAW & 4K Recording.

Camera lollipop vs camera kitkat

Hello guys i need some help with my girlfriends lg g2 d802 (european version).
We bought this phone with waranty and installed stock lollipop rom.
Camera during the day is ok but with low light zooming is quite terrible, 8 out of 10 pictures are blurry and not zoomed corectly.
Im reading that lg g2 on kitkat is much better phone, faster and it has better camera app.
Is that correct, should i flash for examlpe cloudy rom (kitkat based)? which version do you recommend?
I didnt search but if someone is willing to send me some links and instruction for flashing LG G2 i would be grateful
Thanks in advance for your reply's!
No one ?

by zooming you mean focusing
no one with the common sense uses zooming on mobile phones
low light performance is average or bad whichever rom and camera you use... but it's can be a little bit better with Xcam and advanced drivers (on Cloudy roms - you can just install the Xcam app because the advanced driver is already in the rom)
there aren't many differences in camera performance on Kitkat or Lollipop - but Kitkat has an option of basic RAW photography if you use an app like Mi2raw...
Xcam + advanced driver + Xcam LG Settings app (optional and not free on Playstore) - gives you the best camera quality/options combo you can find for LG G2 (and it works both on Kitkat and Lollipop stock based roms, i.e. Cloudy rom or somboons stock rom)

Yes i ment focusing )). Thanks guys, i already installed xcam but without advanced drivers because i didnt wont to root phone, it had guarantee... It is better than stock, but low light performance is still bad. Not average, bad . 8 out of 10 pictures are blurry. Very dissapointing for flagship and how much it was paid. I was thinking about G3 or G4 but G3 has weak battery as G4 which also has bad motherboards and bugs with calling, my godfather boughte one before few months and he is very dissapointed in battery and bugs like this when he can not hang up, screen stays black, its not proximity sensor, many people complain.... So i think i'v done with LG for now. Thanks for your reply's i was thinking to downgrade to android 4 if the camera performance was better (focus) in low light. Thanks again for reply!!!
don't forget that G2 had the one of the best cameras 4 years ago... today - it's just mediocre...
if you want a good low light performance camera - start looking for the devices that have low f-stop optics (f2.0 or lower)...
G2 has f2.4 lens, which was good in its time...
cheers
---------- Post added at 08:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:24 PM ----------
btw LG G3 has exactly the same camera hardware as G2...
LG didn't upgrade the camera until G4...

Yes you are right, if one want low light performance he should be looking for f1.8-2, but, my old S3 had f2.6 and had quite good low light performance . I think driver is just bad. Heard that on G3 camera is improved... still g2 has very good daylight performance, similar to mine Vibe Shot. Camera is very usable. Just focusing in low light is very bad. Phone is great in performance and battery btw...
Thank you for your time/answer...

8 megapixels on 1/3" sensor size (samsung galaxy s3) is much better for low light than 13 megapixels on the same sensor size in LG G2... at least on paper
f2.4 and f2.6 is a little difference (a half-stop difference, something like taking the ISO down from 800 to 600)... the larger pixels on a same size sensor will always give you better low light performance... and as i can see - S3 has a digital image stabilization - maybe this option is crucial as well...
when you do indoor or low light mobile photography - make sure you hold the device without any shaking (due to decreased shutter speed in low light) - here is why G3 might be better because it has an infrared focus beam (and that is the only upgrade from the G2 camera)
btw why do you need good low light camera performance on a mobile device anyway? (or is it just me that doesn't take pictures in low light on a mobile device )

Yes you are right for pixel size, bigger pixels are better for low light performance because they can absorbe more light... Same is for sensor size. That's the reason why newer mobile phones have less mpx but bigger sensor and bigger pixels... There is no point to have so many mpx I think up to 12 are enough. Sony sensors are very good also Samsung isocell... But driver is of same importance... And camera software. LG G4 has phenomenal camera Sony imx234 with f1.8. pictures are just great.
G3 yes has infrared or laser autofocus I can't remember and I think that's the main reason camera has better focus in low light environment.
My vibe shot have Samsung isocell sensor, OIS and infrared focus. That really helps in low light...
Of course camera on phone has limitations. It can not be compared to DSLR in any way ))
