Improving the camera quality on CM11 G2 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running CM11 M3 on my G2. The one thing I miss from LG's stock ROM is the quality of pictures from the LC camera app. The kitkat camera app baked into CM11 has pretty average picture quality.
Is there anything I can do to improve the camera quality? I've tried installing an APK of the camera app someone extracted from the G2 rom but it seems to be an older version, there are some modes that crash and the quality isn't as good as the lg stock camera app.
I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about a camera app or some other tweaks/threads that talk about this stuff. If I can improve the camera quality on the CM11 G2 it would be awesome.

[Q] Android Stock Camera App way better photos than Stock LG's

Can somebody explain to me why?I cant understand.I switch from stock firmware to AOKP and my photo captures is so different and the zoom quality is not blury as lg's stock camera app +the flash is way quicker!
You cant understand why one app is better than another ? The AOSP (AOKP) camera app is just faster and LG's camera app is slow...
This mod makes the LG camera app live up to its specs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548974

Best camera app for costum ROM

Hi,
Which camera app is the best for costum ROMS? Im on cyanogenmod 11 right now and original camera is not even close to LG stock one, and is really really slow. Take pictures [focus] in 3 seconds!
I ve installed Jishnu's Camera [LG Camera F40] and this one is even worst than cyanogen original camera! I did a lot of test and always Jishnu's Camera LG Camera F40 was worst than cyanogen one which is also worst than LG stock. I cant even take pictures in 16:9 format and both of them, I really like cyanogenmod rom and dont want to go back to lg stock rom just because of camera (which is important for me).

A Better Camera is really good and free on Play Store. There are some threads in Themes & Apps section that have cameras like Lenovo and the new stock Google cam, just do a search in there and in here for "camera".
See if this works for you:

Thanks for answer, still cant get quality of stock ROM cam and 4k video recording . How it is possibile to no option to transfer original stock camera. Is there any camera to costum ROM taking 16:9 photos?
You tried Google's new camera? Testing it out atm and it's rather nice.
Doesn't take 16:9 pictures yet but there is an update coming.

As of right now you cannot get 4k recording on a non kit kat stock based ROM. The best you can do is either go back to lg kit kat or use the jellybean lg cam I posted.

Camera for aosp

Hello guys. I just want to ask for a recommendation for camera for AOSP roms for our G2. I am currently on a stock rom now because of the camera. And also, does the ios of our g2 works even for aosp roms? Thank you very much.
I don't worry too much about camera as I don't use it much, but, I like the Google camera myself.

Besides just using the LG camera for AOSP?

Search next time. please.
camera zoom fx. search for it on the play store
"a better camera"; have a look on the play store, by FAR my favorite ! a lot a features, quite good pictures for an aosp rom. Indeed, there are many parameter to compensate the weakness of the aosp camera (no LG driver). not so far from LG stock quality, but still beyond.
Google camera is quite good too, in very good light conditions. But no parameter, nothing.
I tried a few apps since I was asked on G+. Lenovo SNAPit camera is still pretty awesome. It tried capturing detail the others just left a blurred garble.

@russells.android Here is the lg stock camera modded to work with aosp. Best I found for low light situations. Better than Lenovo super camera in low light.

Which camera is the best for a G3 ROM?

I'm running CloudG3. I was wondering which LG-based camera has the best image quality. Is it xdabbebs?

cloudyg3 already includes the g3 version of xdabbebs camera mod and there are no other camera mods

anyway to fix camera quality on CM 12.1 or enabling HDR mode?

hello ive been trying a lot of custom roms and for me CM12.1 is the smoothest rom with acceptable batterylife, but on the downside the camera quality is super awfull and got no hdr mode any tips to bring back the image quality on CM12.1 or atleast getting hdr support?
im using opengapps
and daily latest nightlies
Hi there!
You can use any third-party app to get HDR. About camera quality, unfortunately it comes from the ROM itself and somewhat not fixable.

Or you could try a gpe rom. I don't know about 5.1 but 5.0 had working HDR.
5.1 had HDR too
It says I got HDR even now with Google camera, so I believe you should change the camera app only.
try "a better camera unlocked", this app does a great job, and hold steady
