[Q] Cannot see ios emojis on s4 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

So my gf recently got a iphone and I can not see emojis that she sends me. I've searched for solution such as changing fonts and setting permissions, but this doesnt work. Ive tried different keyboards, and input methods. Im on Cyanogenmod 11 and im going to try it on OCTos. If any one has any ideas please let me know.

Tell her not to.send you emojis haha jk. Have you tried flashing a NAE based ROM? TW introduced emojis with 4.3 or 4.4

Do you use the Sprint Google Voice service (not just the app, but the service where your Sprint phone number is linked to GV)? If so, that causes problems with the emojis for some reason. When I removed GV from my wife's Sprint service, the emojis worked again. I still use GV with my number and some emojis don't work.

Stock keyboard hunt

Hey. So I just recently got bored with the stock s4 ROM and decided to go back into the rooting business. I flashed TWRP recovery and LiquidSmooth ROM. Everything is great but I realized I lost the Samsung keyboard. Now, I know it's not the greatest keyboard out there, but it did allow me to view and send the little built in emojis. I am using SwiftKey beta keyboard that supports emojis but they are the Android looking emojis, not the real ones. I've looked high and low for an original apk or zip I can flash that will install the stock keyboard but can't find anything. Can someone help me out? . Thanks!
Can't run stock touchwiz keyboard on AOSP.

Issue flashing 'Google' edition ROMs...

Hi, I'm probably being very idiotic atm but I can't think of any logical issues.
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S4 i337.. I downgraded from NB1 to MK2, got root, installed safestrap, and attempted to install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474
It was my understanding this came with Loki-Doki (saw it floating around in a different thread asking if it worked, can find it if nessecary) as a patch. So I downloaded and backed up my stock install, and attempted to install this.
Now the problem is when I boot, it returns me to a bootloop, if you could call that progress.. It vibrates occasionally while bootlooping (samsung - safeboot - blackscreen - vibrate - samsung....). I still have access to safestrap, download mode and so on, if it helps at all. I've also tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537495 WITH loki-doki (as it is explicitly stated) to no success either..
I'm looking for one of two solutions;
how to get stock firmware back, or how to properly install this? Or any variation thereof. . . I don't know what the problem is ahaha
Bumping to say multiple wipes>reflashes later the blue screen has yet to occur, not sure what that was... Bootlooping is the huge problem now!
You can't use that rom. You need a tw based rom. This one is aosp

Doesn't the second one work with my phone though? And the comments say 'working on i337'etc on the first one... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537495
It's still giving me the same problems with loki-doki.

Guh. Well ****. They should make that more obvious in the OP.. saw no mention of either of those being an issue..
Any similar roms that still have TouchWiz or should I just roll back to OTA 4.4.2?

So will it ever be possible to flash AOSP ROMs on NB1?
Not until the bootloader is unlocked. There is no telling when that will be.

Best bet is to find a ROM that you like, then install the Google Experience Launcher apk. It will give your phone the stock google launcher.

Domination Theme will also extensively theme your touchwiz rom to give it a more complete AOSP look without an AOSP rom.
All right thanks for the help guys.

I have tried a clean install with v38 of Goldeneye and did not flash any mods or change anything with the same end result. I did have it working throughout my use of several versions of Goldeneye but didint notice when i lost the functionality. Does anyone know of anything i can try to fix the probelm? Does anyone have it working on the goldeneye rom? Would appreciate ANY help as this one feature is all im missing because the Goldeneye rom is amazing!!

I came across that information too but i also found that other people with root were able to get it to work. It works with my brothers s4 and his is rooted but not running the same rom and his is for tmobile and mine is for at&t. Non-Verizon sim, broken sms with 5.0 root

So I've replicated this problem three or four times, after which I've given up on updating to 5.0 until I have some solid solutions. Whenever I try to flash one of the rooted OA8 roms here on xda I lose the ability to send sms, that is literally the only thing that is broken (4g works, calls work, phone activates to towers fine.) My process for flashing these roms has been full wipe > flash rom > reboot download > odin OA8 kernel; that's coming from rooted NK2. I've talked to another user on here who has the same problem and our common thing is that we're both on non-verizon sims (straight talk in my case.) I've tried updating the PRL, wiping cache/dalvik, factory reset. Downgrading back to 4.4.4 fixes it every time, so it's definitely not a network issue. What's the issue here? I realize that those of us with non-verizon plans are the minority here, but if anyone who knows more about this than me has some suggestions, throw them down here.
Same problem for me.
Havent been able to send sms or mms while on lollipop. kitkat works fine. wish they would fix this. i love using lollipop.

Yeah honestly I'm thinking it's something the rom devs will have to fix on their end, if possible. I've been rooting for a while, on a number of phones, and haven't run into anything like this before. I'm afraid it's out of my little bit of android knowledge

I had the same problem, however it was only for sending mms while on wifi. Have you tried using a different app?
Yeah, stock vzw app and google's messenger neither worked for me

Can you bring the Mobile Data to the Notifications Tab?

I just updated my S4 to stock rooted Lollipop 5.0.1 from 4.4.2 and the problem is that there is no Mobile Data Toggle at all. Before when i bought it off eBay - it had it. I know this seems to be a at&t official rom thing but is there any workaround to bring it back up? I searched around but found no fix. I even tried that QuickPanel Restore thing but as it is designed for the S6, as expectd it didn't work.
I can think of 3 ways:
1. Try using this method. I used it on Kitkat and it worked great. I haven't tried it on stock Lollipop ROMs, but it might work.
Edit: After reading some posts, it seems to work just fine for many S4 users on stock rooted Lollipop rom
2. Use an app like Notification Toggle.
3. Use a custom, international base ROM. GoldenEye includes the toggles and works just like AT&T rom only faster and without AT&T bloatware included.

Yo man thanks, ill give it a shot using the first method. Funny thing is, i switched from lollipop to kitkat because of ram and now that you said it worked on kitkat for you - i got so happy lol
Edit: Yep. The first solution did! THANK YOU ALOT MAN. A simple thanks does not express my thank you towards you.
For everyone else that sees this post - The apk i dowloaded from that google repo thing kept crashing. If this happens to you -> Download SQLite Editor from here http://www.apkhere.com/app/com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
No problem! It's crazy that some carriers go through the trouble to remove a feature that was originally there
