[Q] lost usb connectivity and TWRP recovery after upgrading to CM11 ! - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
After flashing CM11 latest nightly (aug 29) I lost 2 very important things:
1) No recovery (Can't go to recovery by hitting the down butten at reboot), nor do I see the reboot to recovery option in the power menu.
2) More important, I cannot charge my phone. USB is not working (both for charge and data connectivity).
When I power down my phone and connect the USB it restarts !!
Since I have no USB and no recovery, Is there a way to go back to stock ROM ?
I also did not install GAPPS, so I have no "google play" installed.
What are my options ? Is my phone considered dead (or soon after my 44% battery is completely drained out ?)
thanks,
popo

After a good night sleep, found that boot loader still works...
Flashed new SBF. Back in buisness...
Lessons learned: Things are much clearer in the morning.

[Q] Help! Bricked DEFY! Blackscreen!

These days I have flashed Xpria D rom into my Defy. Everything's fine, but always meet "unknown error -24" or "invalid package" while installing apps. So I decided to flash another JB rom. Unluckily, things got even worse. No WiFi, and no Signal. I got really mad, so today I tried to flash SBF packages,
----------------------
1. I have Downloaded & Installed RSDL and Drivers
2. I forgot to wipe data / cache before flashing SBF
3. My BL seemed to be 5, but I flashed JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-005_NORDIC, which BL is 4 (?)
4. After flashing, it said "please manually reboot....",
5. I pulled the battery, unplugged USB cable, and put the battery back, then tried to boot my Defy in normal way
6. BLACKSCREEN!
7. Then I attempt to boot into bootloader in some ways, like
7a. Pull the battery, (after moments) put it back, with holding POWER and VOL+ -> Nothing happened, and RSD not detected my Defy
7b. Pull the battery, connect Defy (without batt) to the computer, with holding VOL+ and POWER, and put the battery back quickly -> Not working, RSD not detected
8. So my question, exactly, is my Defy got blackscreen, and just can't detected by RSD anyway. Anyone help?
PS: The front LED seems working while plugging phone into the computer....

R they really the same? The RSDL CANNOT detect my phone, and I'm sure they're charged.
Defy Bricked
Hello,
Phone: Motorola Defy mb525 US TMobile(Currently being used in India)
Build number: 3.4.2-107 idn-9
I was trying to look for some applications that could take backup of my existing ROM when I forgot to turn off debugging during reboot after installing 2ndInit. Now I am unable to boot it up and it reboots after M logo. I tried fastboot but get only Android System Recovery. I have tried the following without any success.
1. RSD Lite: I dont see my phone in the device properties when I connect it to Windows after fast boot. Clicking Start and Show Device button does nothing.
2. Had battery drain problem but managed to get it charged using macgyver battery charge method.
Can some one really tell me how do I fix this?
Would appreciate your response.
I really need my phone back. :crying:

can not reboot into a custom recovery

I can not use my touchscreen!
For days, i am trying to solve this problem, but still can not, i am really upset about that, i need your help.
Firstly, my device was D802 international and os was 4.2.2
I rooted, installed a recovery, then installed a KitKat with Twrp.
After i wanted to turn on, i realised that the touch screen was not working properly. Actually it is so bad, that you can even not enter the menu of the phone with the touchscreen.
Then i connected a mouse to phone and went to settings. Yes, it was 4.4.2.
I had to install a new rom to solve the touchscreen problem, but i couldn't, what ever i did.
With the offline procedure of Lg flash tool (in download mode), the installation stopped every time in 15% depends on a problem of usb connection.
With the online method, it said that the batery is not enough to contunie. (But it was 100%)
Than wanted to install with Twrp or cwm. I rooted, flash the recovery but can not reboot into the recovery menu of twrp or cwm. When i press reboot into recovery, it directs me to the stock recovery of the phone. (In which there is a lying android with a red triangle above it's body)
I also tried adb(from the custom recovery menu) , pc was recognizing phone but the phone was not reacting to the commands i entered from pc.
I've searced a lot in google but couldn't find a solution.
Please help. What's the problem. What can i do?

You could try this. It worked for me, although, i had a different issue. My phone was not rebooting into recovery due to the "Secure Bootloader Error". Nevertheless, it installed cwm on my phone and i could boot into it. So, you can try it. It may or may not work

[Q] Jiayu S3 semi-hard brick (NOT BY FLASHING), help needed

Hi all,
Yesterday my Jiayu S3 crashed and rebooted, after setting an alarm clock and using the Spotify app. However, it did not reboot into the OS as usual. It did not even show the Jiayu logo, but the phone vibrated (sign that it's booting), screen turned on, phone turned off again, repeating this cycle over and over (not the traditional bootloop as I know it). I was running a rom based on the original rom, with some slight modifications. This rom was running stable for more than a week. I know my way around Android, and am used to switching roms, flashing etc.
Right away, I checked the following things:
- Battery removal didn't help (I did not forget to put it in again ofcourse )
- Phone doesn't go into it's charging cycle when charger is connected
- I do NOT have access to recovery
- I can, however, access the boot menu (Volume up + power key, options: Normal boot, recovery, fastboot)
- I can get into fastboot mode (haven't tested ADB yet), that's the only thing that's still working
I tried to flash the original firmware using SP flashtool, and I am still able to upload firmware on the phone! I am sure that I'm using the correct ROM, and tried different PC's and drivers. Got a few succesful flashes, but still bootlooping.
I also had the idea that my battery was empty (didn't charge it overnight), and measured the battery at 3.52 V. So it was pretty empty but not that empty that it doesn't boot. In an effort to charge the phone, I left it bootlooping for an hour or so, and later on it turned out that it only drained the battery further, 2.99 V.
I didn't want to kill this battery so I did use 2 other batteries from an old Jiayu G4, which appear to work if you turn them around and hold them against the pins (note: I knew what I was doing here ). After a lot of Googling, and seeing a lot of generic "how to fix any brick" stuff I was not able to revive my phone again.
I still believe (and hope) that the error is on the software side of the phone. All the partitions should be ok and in working order according to SP flashtool.
Now this is where my knowledge stops and where (hopefully) your help comes in. What can be corrupted that I haven't checked yet? Do you guys have any suggestions to revive this "high-end" phone again? Once again, it did not happen because of bad flashing or something like that, it happened randomly when I was using the phone normally. I tried to be as accurate as possible (long story), but if there are any questions I'm happy to answer them.
Any suggestion is welcome!
Thanks in advance.
Bump..
Anyone?

Potentially hard bricked Note 3

Hello All -
My wife got a new S7 Edge, so I thought I would update from my N2 to her N3.
I originally rooted it before the bootloader got locked down, flashed a stock modified KK 4.4.2 ROM, and prevented further OTAs.
I can't recall if I installed a custom recovery, so i tried it and in the upper left hand corner it says Recovery Booting..., it fails to enter recovery mode and then rebooted normally.
So I installed Safestrap, booted into recovery, and backed up the Stock ROM slot. I then did a Factory Wipe and Advanced Wipe the system partition as per the instruction to install Jasmine ROM.
I choose then chose reboot into Recovery again so that I could use the SD Card to install Jasmine. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in a bootloop where it says Recovery Booting... and never gets back into Safestrap.
I've tried holding down the Power Button, Volume Up or Down, and Home and I can't get into recovery or download mode.
I also tried using a USB Cable plugged into my PC and the button combo thing, but no luck.
Any ideas guys?
Thank you in advance!
Pull the phone battery.
Wait 5 or more seconds.
Reinsert battery.
Start phone with Vol-Down + Home + Power. (as if you wanted to use Odin Download mode)
When the "do you really want to do this?" dialog pops up, select cancel.
This will boot to the normal OS (and also clear the boot communication block so that the next time you reboot it doesn't try to boot the recovery again)
For some reason this sequence won't work if you omit the battery pull. (Don't leave it plugged in to USB or a charger, either)
It works this way with MJ7 firmware; since this is a bootloader behavior, it is possible that it won't work the same way with later firmwares. Simple enough to try and find out though.
good luck
Good news!
I was about to select download mode finally, but only after I removed the SIM card!!
I odin'd 4.3 stock, towel-rooted, safestrapped, and installed Jasmine.
Thanks again all!

Strange Softbrick Water damage

Hello all,
I'm in a bit of a fix and really need some help,
After some water immersion my Samsung S4 ceased to function, as can be expected. EDIT: (BTW this is on the Canadian version I337 as best as I know)
I dried it in silica for an extended period of time and have reached the situation where the following is possible:
Plug in and have the battery logo appear
Fiddle with the cable and power button to get the logo to show up - and it gets stuck on it
Only powers up after cable is withdrawn
Go from there to enter ODIN mode with the power and down arrow, only after this mode has been entered and exited it becomes possible to access CWM
CWM can be accessed and searching for a zip to install shows me all directories on internal storage
Cleared cache and dalvik cache
Installed what I believe is the same ROM from the external SD card (Kangapop 2.5)
Went through all steps as normal for an allegedly successful install
Still however certain things are not possible:
Back up to external SD (crashes when reaching backing up system)
Starting the phone cold regularly without fiddling with charger and power button
Getting past the Samsung S4 logo to actually boot into the ROM
In the beginning both cameras were completely soaked with water but by now all has dried.
If I could just extract a few files I would be happy to wipe everything and try further or just leave it dead, any suggestions in the mean time?
Should I use ODIN to flash the ROM? Go back to stock ROM?
If only I could get ADB to work and pull some files off...
UPDATE:
The S4 could not power up or charge at all with the old battery. Received new battery and it worked, tried Fonepaw recovery but it didn't worked, that ruined recovery to the point where it would only flash with the blue text for a moment as opposed to getting stuck like before.
I transferred the 6.0.4.4 CWM for the Canadian version I downloaded from here, now it just gets stuck on entering recovery.
The S4 cannot power up at all at the moment, probably because the new battery was barely charged and it couldn't charge while in the phone.
What should I do if I manage to power up again and get into Odin mode?
Verify the model number in download mode. If it says sgh-i337m, the phone is the Canadian version and you can flash a stock ROM from sammobile.com.
